Assembling the Cards of Armageddon [LOCK]

Recommended Posts

Track had heard all about everyone going to watch the duel between Terry and Reginald. Track knew that a duel between the host of this tournament, and a dueling pro would be great, so he decided to make his way to the Arena. First he went to his room to get changed. After a while of walking around lost Track managed to get their in time. It seemed that both duelists had taken their first turns, as Terry all ready had three monsters on the field. Track walked up to two guys. One was the other pro duelist, Jace and the other was a guy wearing formal clothing. He looked up at them. " So hows it going guys. I see Reginalds in trouble seeing that Terry has all ready got three monsters on the field. I really want to see some destruction. I want to see what Terrys got and to see what makes him a pro."

"I'm not confident Terry could win this duel." Mia said from the right of the group watching the struggle of cards, in her regular attire and not some evening dress. "I have, surprisingly heard more about this Reginald then Terry." Mia said. "Well, more of his father anyway." Mia explained herself and then watched the duel as Reginald discarded his Kuriboh card. "Terry is making the rookie mistake of being over-confident. Anyone should know that winning a duel on their first turn, although possible, is rather unlikely." Mia explained and then continued to watch.

Sam had considered staying and ignoring the two men, but she was already rather full, and more importantly she couldn't really miss a chance to see the decks of some of her potential opponents in action. One turn in, and she's already decided there was something rather fishy. Firstly, there was that card capable of attacking in a turn where there wasn't even a battle phase. Then there were these draining platforms. She had been under the impression this was a straight tournament, but something like this seemed to be the kind of thing you'd only find in some sort of underground tournament. Or one of those game shows that basically consisted of the contestants torturing themselves to win.

Drawing her attention back to the battle, she made some observations about both player's styles. Terry is straightforward, which means he's easy to understand. Reginald is the issue. Why does he even bother with that Vampire Assailant? It's effect is only going to help if it's at the top of your deck, and only then it won't help if he goes second. So if he's running something that situational, is the rest of his deck like that, or is it that it's good enough to be able to deal with a monster like that?

Track was watching the duel, aswell as listening to the things al of the other competition, was saying. He listened to both Mia and Samantha. He walked to stand next to Mia. He looked up at her. " Well actually i think Terry stands quite a good chance against Reginald. I mean unless you werent there, or just werent listening in my introduction i said that i believe that confidence is strength, so seeing that hes so over confident must make him really strong and powerful." Track smiled. " Plus how could a pro make a rookie mistake, i mean i may not be a pro but im over confident, and im definately no rookie."

Kyle adjusted his collar in an attempt to make it more comfortable. He couldn't remember the last time he had worn this kind of outfit. Looking behind him at the sound of a teenager's voice, he saw that its owner was dressed in an attempt to look cool--by having the formal jacket tied around his waist like a hooded sweatshirt. Before he could reply, though, the kid wandered off to talk with other people. Kyle shrugged and turned back to the duel, carrying on talking with the person next to him. "So that's what's been going on. I don't like the concept of that energy draining stuff. The display says it's a friendly duel--it shouldn't involve energy loss. Speaking of which, how do they drain energy, anyway?"

"I really have no idea, but it makes the duel more interesting by far to know there are stakes that could potentially be high." Jace chuckled as the sound of multiple roars thundered in his mind. "Be that as it may, no real duel is friendly, any duelist with skill plays to win." ANd with that Jace leaned backwards, resting his elbows on the benches behind him, his eyes never leaving the scene before them. "I do wonder though, just how strong our host is....This duel is going to be quite the ride."

'Well then, I draw...and activate Bloodlust! If you control more monsters than I do, which is none, and I have at least 1 Vampire in my Grave, well then, I draw 1 card for each monster you have over mine. I see 3, am I not mistaken? I draw 3 cards!' Reginald drew his cards, and just like that he had seven. He then looked into Terry's weak eyes...'Hmm...well then, what have we here!' Reginald's eyes flashed, and in the blink of an eye, literally, he had read Terry's mind. 'Well, Summon Lancelot if you want, but know that I have won' he thought. 'I set one face down Defense Monster and I activate Foolish Burial, which will send my Vampire Lord to the Graveyard. I shall then set two face downs and will conclude my turn at that.'

'Grrrraaarr! I draw!' Terry sounded ferocious. 'I will equip my Sir Tristram with Divine Sword - Excalibur.' Sir Tristram now wielded Excalibur. 'I will now Tribute my Tristram for my Sir Lancelot! Rise, great knight of Camelot!' Sir Lancelot appeared in all of his splendour, just as Reginald saw. 'Now then, I shall activate his effect! I will remove my Trstram to give my Knight an extra attack for each Equip Spell card in my Grave, which is Excalibur. So now Lancelot can attack twice! Go, strike him down with Sword of Pride!' 'Stop! I activate Destruct Potion! I can destroy my monster and gain Life Points equal to his ATK.' The monster Reginald revealed was Blood Synchron. 'Now, due to my Synchron's effect, he will go into your Graveyard!' A flash of red light shot out from Reginald's deck, into Terry's. 'Huh? Why would you...' 'Because I can also Special Summon Rare Metal Dragon from my Deck in Defence Mode, that is why!' Rare Metal Dragon appeared on the field. 'In Defence...fine. Lancelot, attack his Dragon!' 'Once again, stop! Go! Mirror Force!' 'NO!!!' As Galahad attempted to strike Reginald, Mirror Force shot back a light that destroyed all of Terry's monsters. 'GRRR!!! You will pay for that!' 'How exactley, Terry. You have no cards in your hand or on the field. You are wide open...'

'...and so I draw!' Reginald smirked 'You lose...I activate Monster Reborn! Say hello to my Blood Synchron!' From Terry's Graveyard appeared a little Red Imp. 'Now his ability brings out my Vampire Lord!' Vampire Lord came back from Reginald's Graveyard. 'Now then. I tune my Blood Synchron and my Vampire Lord to Summon...Dracula, the Original Vampire! HAHAHAHAHA!' Blood Synchron turned into 3 stars, and tuned with the 5 stars from Vampire Lord. It created Dracula. 'Now then, Rare Metal Dragon, switch to attack mode and attack with Dark Metallic Flame!' The Dragon spewed a ferocious purple flame that took Terry down from 2700 to 300 Life Points. 'Don't forget our little friend shall we?' The Platform activated, and this time the pain was much worse because Terry took over 2000 points of Damage. 'AAAAUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHH!!!' Terry fell to his knees. Due to the excessive amounts of pain, he revealed a weaker side of himself that even he didn't know of. '...please...I...beg...you...no...more...' 'What? But the party is just getting started? Dracula, eradicate this pathetic duelist now!' Dracula jumped infront of Terry and lifted his chin, so Terry could see the monser. Dracula then slashed Terry straight across the face, taking his Life Points to 0. 'By the way, that was 2500 points of damage.' As Reginald walked off, the platforms activated one last time. 'No...no...noaaaAAAAAUUUURRRGGHHHAAAAGGGHH!!!' Terry, unable to take anymore, fainted. Reginald said to Clara 'Clean this mess up immediatley.' 'Y-y-yes master.'

Sam's first reaction was to hurry over to where Terry had collapsed. She was slightly nervous about the plates, but since the duel was over it should be fine, she decided. A quick check showed he wasn't dead or anything, and had merely passed out, presumably from the pain of taking two massive - well she wanted to say shocks, but the platform was supposed to drain energy. How that was painful, she had no idea, but clearly it was. She put the unconscious man onto his side, remembering from somewhere that it was supposed to prevent them chocking, and looked back up at Reginald. Why even bother with this. It has to be more complicated and expensive than an electrical current, so he must actually want the energy he's draining for something. To her, the tournament suddenly seemed a lot more sinister.

Miqea shuddered as Terry fell unconscious from the effects of the Draining Platforms. At first she was sure that she was starving, but all of a sudden she lost her appetite before she even ate anything, instead worrying about whether or not she was going to make it out alive. One thing was for sure, this... Reginald, guy was NOT to be trifled with.

Miqea picked up and looked at her Gargantuan Satellite Tank, the most powerful monster in her deck. She was hoping this card would see her through the tournament, perhaps also if she could even get it on the field.

1 Synchro Tuner + "Satellite Laser Balsam"
This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Synchro Summon. During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position Monster whose DEF is lower than this card's ATK, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. In addition, if this card attacks your opponent directly or destroys a Level 5 or lower monster by battle, any Battle Damaged inflicted is doubled. This card cannot be destroyed by battle with a Level 10 or lower monster. In addition, if this card battles a Level 5 or lower monster, this card's controller takes no Battle Damage. Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by battle, it is not destroyed. During each player's End Phase, this card gains 3000 ATK. If this card attacks, its ATK is reduced to 0, after damage calculation. If you have at least 5 cards in your hand, you can discard your entire hand during your Draw Phase instead of conducting your normal draw. If you do, this card is unaffected by your opponent's card effects until the End Phase of your opponent's next turn, however, if it would be affected by a card effect, you lose half your Life Points.

"Terry had brought this on himself." Mia said to whoever was listening or curious about it. "I told you he was being overconfident and thus he lost the duel cause he wanted to rush to take out his opponent quickly instead of tactfully." Mia explained and then sighed at the duel she had just witnessed, she started to walk to her room-still talking. "That's the problem with humanity as a race, we want everything and we'll do anything to get it." Mia said and then walked out of ear shot, it wasn't long until she found herself back in her room, door locked and sighing at the event that had passed. Father, if only the rest of humanity was more like you... She thought and then took to her bed to rest before the tournament.

Jace's brow shifted as he stood up and turned to go to his room. "He'll be fine in the morning." Was all he said as he walked past everyone. His hands dug into his pockets as he strode down the halls and up the staircase. Turning the key in his door he entered, closing, but not locking the door behind him. He placed his deck on the table next to the bed and went to his suit case, pulling out a small side of 15 cards. He thumbed through until he found 2 of them and walked over to his deck, thumbing through and removed 2 others, placing the two new ones in their place. "Seems I'll need more than my dragons to help me win this. If this duel has taught me anything....expect the unexpected." He chuckled as what sounded like a tiger growl echoed in his head, the faint image of a lightning blue cat apparent around him as he sat on his bed and kicked his shoes off.

Track watched in shock as he saw the defeat of Terry. Track saw how the draining platforms drained peoples energy from them if they lost life points. And it depended how much life points you lost which decided how much energy was drained. Track was also surprised the proffesional duelist Terry Scuro defeated by the host of a tournament he had come to compete in. " Oh man this Reginald guy is one awsome duelist, if hes capable of beating a pro." Track walked over to Terry and helped to get him to his room. " Dont worry, Terry your gonna be a ok."

As a young boy, who didn't even seem to be a teenager yet, came to help Terry, Sam lifted him up on the other side. She hadn't seen where Terry's room was, but this boy seemed to know, and there he'd have a proper bed to sleep and get his energy back. At least someone had actually come to help the unconscious man - unlike those that had just walked off and left him there. Sure, he may have made some mistakes in that duel, and we may be facing each other to win, but what kind of person uses that as an excuse to just leave an unconcious person lying there? She turned her attention back to the boy. "We never really got a chance to talk earlier," she said, "I'm Samantha." She gave a smile. "What's your name?"

'Hmm...it is a rather lovely evening, is it not?' Reginald said to himself. 'Father, I new that your Deck was strong, but really...I am imprerssed.' Reginald had arrived at his study, opened and shut the door behind him. He layed down on the bed to relax. 'I should make a phone call. But first, an announcement.' We walked over to a microphone and spoke into it, which due to speakers could be heard in every room. 'Well, I hope you enjoyed my little show, but now the show must go on. In case your wondering, Terry isn't eliminated. The tournament starts tomorrow. However, I will be coming down shortly to Arena A, the greenhouse, to watch another duel. I can't wait for you people to test out its...features...I suppose now it is the time for one of you to challenge eachother. Ta-ta!' Afterwards, he picked up his cellphone, pressed a few buttons, waited a bit and then spoke: 'Maximus?'

'...ugh...s-s-Sam...Track...?...where am I...' Terry weakly spoke to Sam, as they helped him to his room. '...more importantley...were is he...' He spoke with a bitter taste in his voice.

As Track was helping Terry to his room with the help of Samantha, she started to talk to him. Track carried on helping Terry to his room. Soon they where just about outside Terrys room. He looked at Samantha as they walked. " Well im Track, nice to meet you Samantha. Do mind if i just call you Sam, i mean seriously Samantha way to formal and long." They had reached Terrys room. Track checked Terry pockets for the key, he found them and opened the door. He walked inside and began to place Terry on to his bed. " I think hes going to be ok." Then Terry started talking. " You need to rest man. And if you mean Reginald that creep went to his Study."

"It's very nice to meet you too, Track," Sam replied. She considered the boy's request for a moment. "If you like, I suppose," she replied. "Well I only call myself Samantha when I'm dressed up, so I suppose I can't exactly object, can I? I guess when I'm wearing this stuff I just feel more formal."

As they laid Terry on his bed, he began to stir. "You're in your room," she told him, filling him in on what Track hadn't mentioned. "You just stay here and rest. You'll need to be back on form for the tournament tomorrow - I for one would feel bad if I beat you because you were off-form." Although some others probably wouldn't, she thought, the faces of Jace and Mia lingering in her mind's eye.

As Samantha said that she wouldnt feel good if she had defeated an off form opponent, Track began to think to himself, that some people here dont care about who gets hurt or what happens to anyone else, all they cared about was themeselves and winning. Track looked up at Samantha, which could kind of hurt his neck seeing that she was so tall and he was so short. " You know, i would feel bad too. Some people dont even care all they do is walk off and not bother to help. You know ive got to admit, i can be a bit selfish, over confident and kinda anoying, but i always look out for other people. It just makes you angry to see some people dont give a toss." Track looked down for a bit so that he wouldnt hurt his neck from looking up for so long. He then looked back up. " But more to a brighter side. The tournaments gonna start tommmorow. I just hope Terry recovers before its too late. There has to be some way of getting some sense into Terry, before tommorow." Track started to think. Track saw Terrys deck. " Oh ive got an idea." Track went and took Terrys cards and looked at them. " Hmm. Maybe theres something in his deck that can help him. Okay listen up deck, your masters tired out here and needs some help, so well go and help him." Track wasnt to sure what he was doing would work at all, in fact Track didnt know what he was doing. Track just hoped that Terrys deck would be able to help him.

"I'd recommend that you put the Deck down, boy." Behind Track appeared the monster spirit of King Arthur himself. Usually these spirits would only appear to Terry, but because he was unconscious and weak, he appeared to Sam and Track. Arthur was even taller than Sam, and spoke in a noble voice. "I am King Arthur, Knight of the Round Table, King of Old Britain...or rather what is left of me. That deck your are holding posseses the remaining deceased spirits of the Knights of the Round Table. As I have said just, put it down, as you holding it does disgrace to our spirits."

Kyle stood in the crowd, a little dumbfounded. How could their host be such a sadist? He briefly considered dropping out of the tournament, then shook his head. No--he had spent what money he had to enter, and he needed to fund his project. He'd have to win. Well, at least he knew what he could expect in the future. He headed up to his room to change back into his own clothes before heading to the greenhouse arena. He figured he should watch other people dueling before challenging anyone. Unless this was on a bracket system, he'd be able to get some knowledge before doing anything potentially dangerous.

After he finished dressing, he grabbed his deck. He looked at the bottom card--Evigishki Gustkrake. "Can we really get through this?" He thought he saw the card image nod. He was probably just imagining it, but it still gave him confidence. He smiled and stowed the deck in his belt pocket. He proceeded to strap on his Duel Pad and walked out. This tournament was going to be pretty interesting.

Jace reclined on his bed as he tipped his hat over his face. He wasn't too concerned with the other competitors right now. His main focus had been on Terry and Reginald, wanting to see if in fact Terry could live up to his expectations of being a Pro, and Reginald, well something about him made Jace's stomach just a bit uneasy. Was it the Vampiric cards he used? Or perhaps these dueling platforms that drained someone of their energy. What first started out as a tournament like any other, soon showed it's stakes were higher than anything else. With these thoughts in his head, he closed his eyes under his hat, his deck now resting on his forehead under it also. The faint outline of the lightning blue cat still around him as it's tail swished side to side, eyeing the door.

Track suddenly heard the voice of a noble man behind him. As he turned around he saw the image of an extremely tall man even taller then sam. Track was slightly shocked suddenly seeing that figure behind him. Then Track calmed down and looked up at the manwho called himself a knight of the round table and the king of old Britain. " Listen, if your trying to say that im not worthy to be holding this deck, then fine ill put it down, but seriously man youve got to do something look Terrys really weak." Track looked back at Terry and then at King Arthur, as he did so he smiled. " Okay you must be a duel spirit right. I knew they were real. So how about if i put this deck down you do whatever you can to help Terry. Oh and also do you think you could give me the ability to see duel spirits, just like Terry." Track waited for King Arthur to respond.

'Thank you. As for your reqquest, my Guardian has protected us for many years...us Knights are useless. We are humans, just like you. However, Merlin would certainly fix this. To him it would be easier than spreading butter on a slice of bread. He to could allow you to see the spirits of cards, young boy.' Arthur responded to Track. 'Merlin!' The ancient Magician Merlin appeared 'Yes, m'lord.' 'Can you heal our guardian?' 'Yes, but I would require to take my earthly form in order to do so. Someone must offer a blue jewel so I can become Human again, however it wont last long...I am bound forever as we all are.'

'..ok, I will see you there.' Reginald put down his phone. He then opened a cupboard and revealed a jar of bright green fluid. 'Duelist Energy is all I need to free the cards. More of it is what I need to master them!'[/color]. Reginald left his study with the jar and went downstairs, forgetting to lock the door. He left the main entrance, got into a car and left the premises. After he left, the gates flashed green and automatically shut. 'Those energy draining gates should hold them.' His driver drove him down to a nearby lake, where an enormous excavation was undergoing. Reginald's car stopped in front of a tent. He then left his car and entered the tent. 'Maximus. How is the project coming along.' Jace clicked his foot against the foot of the bed, as if counting something. It wasnt long as foot steps passed by his door, ones he attributed to Reginald. A smirk crossed his lips as he tipped his hat up, grabbed his deck and his duel disk and walked to the door after putting his shoes back on. He opened it a crack and peeked out silently, looking up and down the halls. Quietly he slipped out into the halls and walked to where he assumed Reginald's study was. He turned the knob on the door slowly and slipped inside. "Something isn't right here....I just need some proof..." He said to himself as he started rummaging through the papers on the desk, trying to find any information on what was really going on here. "For someone who doesn't believe in legends.....he's investing an awful lot of time and energy into researching these Armageddon cards...."

Sam watched the exchange between Track and the spirits with interest. Well, it explains why Terry thinks those Armageddon cards could be real, if his deck is full of duel spirits. The spirit of 'Merlin' seemed to have some method to heal Terry. She reckoned a good rest should be enough, and perhaps some food, but magic probably beat that - after all, if it couldn't it wasn't exactly very useful. However it seemed that, as a spirit, this character couldn't do anything, and needed a jewel to turn human. "What kind of blue jewel?" she asked, "there's quite a few different precious stones that are blue, if it's even a gem at all. We can't find you one until we know what we're looking for."

Jace removed his duel disk as he sat down at Reginald's desk, noticing the laptop on the desk after some rummaging. His eyes focused on the screen as he began typing, trying to decipher the password, and after a few moments, he had access to the files on the computer. "Blue prints...legends..." He spoke to himself as he continued to search the files one by one. "What does he need all of these energy absorbing platforms for?" He asked himself as he continued to delve deeper into the seemingly endless files on the laptop. If there was anything he was grateful for from being Seto's apprentice, it was the insane computer skills and hacking abilities he had watched and picked up.
