Fusion X. Denver
Because I'm dumb and don't quite understand all the corporate terms, what I got from that is Negima ended because publishers took advantage of some loophole in their agreement and made him end it because of some quarrel they had going on. Either way, that's just not right. IT'S WRONG.
Jake the Sage
So he stopped in protest to the law or so he can aid in fighting it?
burnpsy
He stopped in protest to a proposed law that would allow Kodansha to take the rights to the series from him after it ends, without paying him for any money they make off of it. That explains the sudden endings of Air Gear, Zetsubou-sensei, Ah! My Goddess, etc. lately. They're all published by Kodansha.
Jake the Sage
I got the gist of that . . . but I didn't know EVERYONE was backing out

Well now I'm pissed. What the hell is Kodansha's problem, those money-grubbing bastards.
Master Hyperion
Actually this does makes me wonder what will happen to the Love Hina Omnibus. Will they be cut off or does Kodansha still have the right to it. And the new law in question is a terrible way to maintain the Tokyo Child Protection law, since it basicly keeps all the orginal and new creators away from publishers. And Publishers can't do jack s*** if they don't have anything to publish.
burnpsy
They're still releasing the Love Hina Omnibuses, much to Akamatsu's chagrin (he specifically mentions them on his Twitter).
Jake the Sage
Yeah I can imagine him getting mad about that. If they don't pass the bill, you think he'll redo the final parts?
burnpsy
I dunno, but I hope so. burnpsy
Various other mangaka have been leaving Kodansha lately. In any case, final volume cover:
Jake the Sage
Wow that is one big final front cover (8 ') But I wish he didn't have to leave, then maybe he would be able to actually make the manga at his own pace. Could you imagine if he was able to make it detailed like the first few volumes where?
Fusion X. Denver
Yeah, Air Gear's next... Nice volume cover to me.
