DL
Yu-Gi-Oh! - Forbidden World Where should I start? Basically while reading my good friend Zetsubou Black's Yugioh fic, I got a little inspiration to write my own. The more I thought about it the more I liked the idea. This was originally going to be a bit of a satire fic called "Not Another Yugioh Fic" (for those of you who have seen Not Another Teen Movie, yep, that's where I got the idea). Anyway, somewhere along the way I decided to make it a serious Yugioh fic, just better than 90% of what's currently found in this forum. If I succeeded, huzzah. If I didn't... well, no skin off my bones. That said, without further ado, I present 4 days of hard work and thought.
One's Theme Draco's Theme

Chapter 1 A man with 5’o clock shadow and thinning black hair dozily opened his brown eyes, rubbing them. He stretched his arms up and yawned, then lifted the covers from himself. The gesture caused his stomach to protrude from his worn-out white undershirt. He stared at it for a few moments before shrugging, and getting up from the bed. He headed inside the bathroom, and fumbled to find the light switch for a bit. Once he flipped the switch, and the bathroom was lit with a fluorescent lamp from above, the man turned to face the sink. He turned the right knob, and put his hands together under it. Immediately, he jolted upright, his hand singed. He looked down at the knob, and turned it to the other side, stopping the flow of steaming water. The man frowned. He leaned in closer to the right knob and saw that it did, in fact, have the words “Cold” engraved on the top, and in blue letters no less. He turned the left knob, which had the words “Hot” engraved on the top with red letters, and extended a finger, then poked the water. Feeling the cold touch, he let both his hands pleasure themselves in the coolness for a bit before bringing up a tiny puddle of water with his hands, and splashing it on his face. He wiped his face with a towel and headed out of the bathroom. He glanced at the sleeping woman half-hidden under the covers, and smiled a bit, then headed downstairs. As the man reached the fridge, he opened and peered inside. He scanned the contents from left to right, and top to bottom. He reached for a milk jug, when he heard something slam against the floor. He turned quickly, to see a young boy, around 7 years old, standing there. He wore blue shorts and a red t-shirt, and his hair was black and fell to his forehead. The kid held up a duel disk attached to his arm, the light shining off of its silver surface, and glared at the man with piercing light-blue eyes. “Time to duel me, old man! I won’t let you skip out on practicing with me today!” the kid exclaimed. The man looked straight into the boy’s eyes, sensing the fierce determination coming from them. Those eyes gleamed with an unwavering, but also newborn, spirit. One that would never give up, and could learn anything it set its sights on. Glancing to his left, the man could see his duel disk, perched on the table. His deck was still in the deck slot. The situation being what it was, the man saw no other choice. “Go make your bed, Matthew. And don’t forget to brush your teeth while you’re at it,” the man replied, turning to the fridge and grabbing the milk jug. The boy growled. “No way, you promised you’d teach me how to duel today, so I’m not letting you escape until you do!” The man sighed, and placed the milk jug, as well as a box of cereal, down on the kitchen counter. He opened a cupboard and grabbed a bowl, then placed it down next to the milk jug. “Son,” he said, turning to Matthew. “Life’s not all about dueling. Just take my friends for instance. Each one of them is now either dead, or retired from dueling.” “Yeah, yeah, and you yourself retired from professional dueling because it’s just not like it was back in the old days. You’ve told me a hundred times. But I told you, I don’t care about that. I’ll become the best duelist someday, and change the dueling world!” The man had just finished pouring the cereal onto the bowl, and the milk onto the cereal, when he smirked at the comment. “Now you’re the one who’s said the same thing a hundred times. If you really intend on doing that, go ahead, nothing’s stopping you. Certainly no high-level competition around these parts,” he said, stuffing a spoonful of cereal into his mouth. “You have your deck, go on. Scram.” “I would if you’d teach me how to duel like you, but you won’t. So I’m staying right here!” Matthew said, as he sat down cross-legged on the floor. The man ran a hand over his hair, and finished up his bowl of cereal, then put it on the sink. He took a few seconds to chew and swallow the last spoonful of cereal before turning to the boy. “Look, this thing hardly fits me anymore,” he stated, going over to his duel disk and strapping it on his arm. Just then, there was a knock on the door. “Go answer the door, Matthew. It’s better than dirtying your shorts by sitting on the floor.” Matthew grumbled, but stood up and quickly ran toward the door. A few seconds later, there was a yell from the door. “What in the world?” Matthew’s dad exclaimed, eyes wide. He ran for the door, not even bothering to take his duel disk off. When he got outside, he looked out to the front yard, covered in recently-trimmed grass, and separated into two halves by the cement path from the house to the street. One the left half stood a man in a hooded black jacket, with the hood brought over his eyes. He also wore baggy black jeans, and had a duel disk on his left arm. His right arm was wrapped around Matthew, who was struggling to break free of the stranger’s grip. “Who are you, and what do you want?” Matthew’s father asked. “I want to duel the man once known as Dave the Great Wall!” the man replied, grinning. “Dave the Great Wall is gone. Nowadays I’m just Dave Evans.” The hooded man reached into his pocket with the hand the duel disk was attached to and brought out a black rod. He touched Matthew, who was still trying to break free, on the neck with it. It instantly delivered a shock that sent him to unconsciousness. “Well then you better bring the Great Wall back, because I want to see what he can do!” Dave bit his lip. “Fine, I’ll duel you. But once I win, you leave me and my family alone, you got that?” The hooded man smirked, and activated his duel disk. Dave did the same, and “4000 LP” blinked in both their respective duel disks. “You can go first, show me what Dave the Great Wall can do.” Dave drew six cards, and the hooded man drew five. Dave looked through them a bit. “Alright,” he said. “I play one monster in face-down defense position, and two cards face down. Your move.” The hooded man drew a card, and smirked. “I summon Ryu-Kishin Powered!” A red creature with an arched back and large shoulder blades appeared on the field. It had large claws, which it used to slash at the air as it growled. “Now, I activate the effect of Double Summon! With this, I can normal summon once more this turn. So I sacrifice Ryu-Kishin Powered…to summon Summoned Skull!” As he placed the card on his duel disk, a skeletal monster appeared on the field, with horns that curved downward and black wings protruding from its back. “Summoned Skull, attack his face-down monster!” Lighting shot from the skeletal fiend, toward Dave’s card. The face-down card flipped up and a kneeling stone giant appeared from it. “With only 2000 points of defense, your Giant Soldier of Stone stands no chance against my Summoned Skull!” the hooded man exclaimed. “Not yet,” Dave said. “I reveal my face-down card, The Reliable Guardian! Now my monster gains 2700 defense until the end of the turn, making your Summoned Skull’s 2500 attack unable to destroy it.” A large shield appeared in the stone giant’s hand. When the Summoned Skull’s lighting hit it, it didn’t even leave a scratch. The hooded man’s Life Points dropped to 3800, and he spat. “Alright, I play a card face down and end my turn. You won’t get past Summoned Skull anyway.” Dave drew a card from his deck, then selected a nearby card in his hand, and placed it on the field. “I summon Beta, the Magnet Warrior in attack mode! It may not be able to beat your Summoned Skull, but it doesn’t have to. I activate Back to Square One! I discard Destroyer Golem, and send your Skull back to the top of your deck.” “Damn, didn’t expect that…” the hooded man said, placing Summoned Skull at the top of his deck. “Now,” Dave exclaimed. “I attack your Life Points directly with Beta!” Beta the Magnet Warrior rushed forward, and struck at the hooded man with his magnet fist. The hooded man took a step back with a flinch, his Life Points reduced to 2100. “Not so fast, I activate the trap card The Golden Apples!” he announced. “I can only activate this card when I take battle damage while I control no monsters. I gain Life Points equal to the damage I took. And not only that, I get to special summon a Malus Token with attack and defense equal to the amount of Life Points I gained!” The hooded man’s Life Points climbed back up to 3800, and a golden apple with 1700 attack points appeared on the field, floating up and down steadily. Dave raised an eyebrow. “I end my turn.” The hooded man drew a card. He looked them over, grinning. “This is where it gets fun…first I activate Shield Crush to destroy your Giant Soldier of Stone!” after he said this, a beam of light shot from the card, and pierced through the kneeling stone soldier, shattering it. “Next I activate Swing of Memories to bring back Ryu-Kishin Powered from the graveyard until the end of the turn!” The red creature appeared once again on the field, bearing its fangs. “Now I sacrifice both my Malus Token and my Ryu-Kishin Powered to summon…Zoa!” A blue creature with long, thick arms appeared onto the field. It reared its head back, which had wing-like structures coming from it, and let out a mighty roar. “Now, Zoa, attack Beta the Magnet Warrior!” Zoa leaped forth, and slashed Beta in half. The Magnet Warrior never stood a chance, even raising both its arms to block the attack. It shattered into hundreds of pieces, and Dave placed the card into the Graveyard, his Life Points dropping to 3100. “I end my turn. Take your best shot at destroying Zoa, “Dave the Great Wall”,” the hooded man said, chuckling from under the hood. Dave frowned. “I draw.” He examined the cards in his hand. His eyes shifted to the image of his face-down card, the only card on his field. “I play one monster face down and end my turn.” “That’s it? I expected this to be more fun. I draw!” the hooded man said. “Now, I play Baron of the Fiend Sword!” A yellow ogre-like creature wearing a black suit and wielding a red sword appeared on the field. “Baron, attack his face-down monster!” The ogre charged forward as a trio of giant stone heads appeared out of the card being attacked, and slashed through all three of them with one slash of its sword. “Baron destroys The Statue of Easter Island,” the hooded man said as the trio of statues shattered. “And now Zoa attacks you directly!” Zoa let out another roar, and attacked Dave’s Life Points directly with a crushing slash, dropping them down to 500. Dave frowned a bit as his Life points dropped, but otherwise stood unfazed. “I end my turn,” the hooded man said, chuckling. “I draw,” Dave muttered, then his eyes widened. “I thought I removed this card, what’s it doing here…? I can win with this, but…no, he’s just some thug, and no one’s around. It shouldn’t matter…” “What are you blabbering about?” “Oh,” Dave said, snapping out of his ponderings. “Nothing. But now’s the time to win. I activate my face-down card, Call of the Haunted. I bring back Beta, the Magnet Warrior. And by offering Beta from my field, and Alpha the Magnet Warrior and Gamma the Magnet Warrior from my hand as tributes…” Alpha the Magnet Warrior, a silver warrior with a sword, and Gamma the Magnet Warrior, a pink warrior with matching wings, both descended to the field. Then, all three Magnet Warriors split apart, and joined together into a combination of all three. “I can Special Summon from my hand Valkyrion the Magna Warrior!” The hooded man gasped. “That’s a…” “Valkyrion, attack Zoa!” The Magna Warrior dashed forward. Zoa slashed at it, but it flew up into the sky, then descended down on the fiend with a slash, cutting it in half. Zoa then shattered, reducing the hooded man’s Life Points to 2900. “And I’m not done. If all three Magnet Warriors are in my graveyard, I can tribute Valkyrion to get them back!” Valkyrion split apart, and formed into Beta, Gamma, and Alpha. “Now, Beta the Magnet Warrior, attack Baron of the Fiend Sword!” The Baron raised his sword to block as Beta approached, but the Magnet Warrior broke through the sword and the Baron with one strike, shattering it. “D-damn…” the hooded man muttered as his Life Points dropped down to 2750. “You’re unprotected, and wide open for Gamma to attack!” Gamma dashed forward, and struck directly at the hooded man, dropping his Life Points to 1250. “Now, Alpha the Magnet Warrior, finish him!” Alpha leaped at the hooded man and with one slash, dropped his Life Points to zero. The duel disks deactivated, and the hooded man stood there, panting slightly. “That was good. But too bad for you,” he said. Dave raised an eyebrow. “What?” “Freeze!” a voice called from behind Dave. He turned, alarmed, and saw a police officer a few yards from him, pointing a gun at him. Dave turned back to the hooded man, who threw off his hood, and unzipped his jacket to reveal a police uniform. He then took out a badge from his pocket and showed it to Dave. “Dave Evans, you are under arrest for violating Law 156-B3, which prohibits the use of effect monsters. You will be taken into custody, and will hold a trial in ten days.” Dave gulped. “Dammit…will you do anything to my family?” “They are not the perpetrators. They shall not hold any responsibilities for your actions.” Dave clenched his teeth. He unattached his duel disk, and laid it gently on the ground, then straightened up with his hands up. He looked at the previously hooded man, then turned around slowly to face the other officer. He smirked, and kicked his duel disk with the side of his foot, making it skid across the ground. Both police officers turned to it, alarmed. Dave took this opportunity to make a run for it. He hopped over the fence, and moved quickly inside a narrow alleyway, faster than his frame would deem possible. The police officer that had the gun ran after him, while the other said something on his walkie-talkie, then also began to pursue. It had already darkened when Matthew finally awoke. He sat up dozily and rubbed his eyes. He looked around, but the yard was deserted. “…Dad?”

Chapter 2 A teenage boy walked toward a large dark red building. The building had a huge yellow sign at the entrance, and green words were painted on it. The boy stood in front of the sign, having to look up a bit to read the top-most letters. “‘Junior Duel Monsters Tournament, sign up now! Only ages 14 through 16 allowed.’… So this is it, huh?” He lowered the brim of his black hat, and placed his hands inside the pockets of his blue jeans. He shivered a bit as the wind blew by, despite wearing his red hooded jacket with long sleeves, and walked inside. There were only a few people in the place, most of them in small groups. “Well unless I’m super-early, this might actually be easier than I thought…” he muttered. He felt a hand on his shoulder and turned. He was faced with a boy no older than him, but a tad bit taller. Yet his face was soft, and his shoulder-length brown hair fell to his forehead. “Hey,” the brown-haired boy asked. “Excuse me, but do you perhaps know where a girl a little younger than me, with long brown hair is?” “No, sorry, haven’t seen her. Why?” “It’s just that she’s my kid sister. She left home earlier than me, so I thought she’d get here sooner…that’s strange.” “Oh, that’s why. Tell you what, if I see her, I’ll tell her you’re looking for her. What’s your name again?” The boy smiled, and extended his hand. “I’m Alex. Alex Moon. And who are you?” “I’m…well, just call me Matt,” he answered. Matt turned around and began walking, as Alex followed after him. “So…you’re a duelist too, am I right?” he asked. Matt turned to Alex, raising his cap a bit. He looked to both sides, then slightly raised an eyebrow at the brown-haired teen. “Well, I’m not exactly a spectator,” he said, raising his arm, which had a duel disk attached to it. “Right, right, my bad bro, should have guessed. Since you have a duel disk and all. Me and my sister are going to play too. Well, I’m going to play. Not sure if she’ll make it in time, though.” Matt leaned against a wall. “Huh…sucks. Hope she makes it.” “Hey, hey, hey! Who the hell do ya think you are?” a voice yelled. Matt and Alex turned to the dueling platform, where two people were standing there, one on either side. One of them, the older of the two, had shoulder-length blond hair. He had a sharp nose, and slender blue eyes. He wore a large white coat and a black shirt and matching pants underneath. He pointed one of his hands, with a silver ring on the middle finger, toward the other guy. “You ain’t got the right to step into the same ring as me. Least, not yet. You gotta get through the tournament first, ya hear?” The other guy, who was a tad younger, had a silver cloak covering most of his body. The cloak’s hood fell down over his eyes, and tiny strands of blue hair could be seen. “Well aren’t you polite? I came all this way just to duel you…Draco Nelson,” the cloaked guy said. “Well I ain’t surprised ya heard of me, but who are ya, anyway? What makes ya think you’re any different from the other duelists ‘ere?” Draco asked. The cloaked guy gave a short bow. “I am Z. That is all. And I come here to defeat you. Of course, you could refuse. But then again, I could press the switch I have on me to explode the bombs that could be implanted all around here.” Draco clenched his teeth. “Why you…that’s fightin’ dirty! Fine, you wanna duel? I’ll show ya a duel!” he said, and placed his deck on the duel arena. Z did the same, and they both drew five cards. “You can go first,” Z said, smirking. Draco nodded, and drew another card. He looked over them, then placed one of them onto his board. “I summon Hunter Dragon!” A Dragon with black scales resembling armor rose to the field. Its chin was long and sharp, like a blade, and the color of steel like one. The pair of red wings attached near its thighs flapped up and down, as well as the tiny ones on its head, and its tail swept from side to side slowly. “1700 attack, huh? Pretty pathetic, hmm?” Z asked, grinning. Draco looked at him for a bit, then picked up two more cards from his hand. “I set two cards face down and end my turn.” “Alright, I draw!” Z stated, as he placed the drawn card in his hand. “First, I place one card face down. Now, I activate card destruction!” Both players discarded the cards in their hands to the graveyard, and drew the same number of cards from their decks. “Remember my face-down spell? It’s Monster Reborn; and I think I’ll activate it! From my graveyard comes the mighty Gaia, the Fierce Night!” The armored warrior armed with two jousting lances came riding onto the battle field atop his horse. “Since I still haven’t normal summoned yet, I’ll throw down Axe Raider in attack mode!” A well-built warrior with an axe appeared on the field. “With 2300 points of attack, my Gaia is more than enough for your puny monster! Gaia, attack his Hunter Dragon!” The dragon shattered as Gaia drove his spear through it. Draco’s Life Points dropped to 3400, but he seemed unfazed. “I activate mah facedown card, Rope of Life! Now, by discardin’ mah hand, I can special summ’n Hunter Dragon. And it even gets a lil’ attack boost of 800 to boot!” The black dragon appeared on the field, and it grew in size slightly as its attack rose to 2500. “Pay close attention, cause I ain’t done! I chain mah otha’ facedown, Liberty at Last! I can return two of ya monstahs to ya hand! So say g’bye to ya Gaia and ya Axe Raider!” Both the axe warrior and the horse-riding Gaia returned to Z’s hand, as he growled. “I place one card face down and end my turn.” he said, glaring at Draco. Draco drew a card. “Here we go, time to serve ya up some pain! I attack yer Life Points directly wit mah Hunter Dragon!” The black dragon dashed forward and struck at Z, reducing his Life Points to 1500. “I place one card face down and end mah turn.” Z drew a card onto his hand, and grinned. “What a lucky draw. I activate my facedown card, Limit Reverse! It lets me special summon from my graveyard one monster with 1000 attack or less! And I choose Armail, who was sent there with Card Destruction!” The steel-clad warrior with a scythe appeared on the field, it’s snake-like lower body moving slowly from side to side. “Now, I summon Junk Synchron from my hand!” as he placed the card on the field, the orange robot with engines on its back appeared on the field. “Now I synch both of them!” The two monsters disappeared into a dance of circles and stars. “And synchro summon Gaia, Force of the Earth!” Gaia once again appeared on the field, but this time he and his steed were more heavily armored, and the steed was black. Matt, who had been watching the duel from afar while leaning on the wall, raised his head slightly and tipped his hat up. “Huh…” “What do you mean, “Huh…”?” Alex asked, beside him. “Aren’t you more surprised than that? He just summoned a Synchro monster!” Draco’s eyes widened, and he took a step back. “What? A Synchro monstah? Ain’t those banned? You just broke da rules, man!” “Screw that, the police won’t be coming. They won’t know. My Synchro card is one of the few that is untraceable. Behold its mighty power! Gaia, attack his Hunter Dragon!” Z yelled, causing the mounted warrior to rush forward and slash the black dragon in one swift blow. The dragon shattered, and Gaia came to a rest on Z’s side of the field once more as Draco’s Life Points dropped to 3300. “I chain to that. I activate mah facedown trap card Dora of Fate. With it, I can select one monster on ya field. And if, in mah next turn, I can summon a monstah who’s one level lower than yers, you take damage equal to the level of ya monstah, times five hundred!” “Heh, good luck. My Gaia is level six, and you’ve got no monsters to tribute for as level five! I end my turn, show me what you can do.” “It’s mah turn,” Draco said. He stared at his deck for a few moments, his hands shaking slightly. Finally, he gulped, and drew a card. “Well, seems luck’s on mah side aftah all,” he said, smirking a bit. “I activate Pot o’ Greed!” A green pot with a face carved on it appeared on the field. The face’s mouth was twisted into a long smile. “With it, I can draw two cards from my deck. Let’s see if Lady Luck sees me through this lil’ ordeal!” He drew two more cards, and his smirk grew. “I activate the field spell card, Mausoleum of the Emperor! With it, I can normal summon high level monstahs by payin’ Life Points by the thousands instead o’ payin’ up tributes. So I pay a thousand of mah Life Points…” Draco’s Life Points dropped to 2300. “And I summon Curse o’ Dragon!” “No…no!” “You lose, Z. How disappointing.” Z looked up, behind Draco, his eyes suddenly wide, and his mouth twisted. “No…what…? You were watching?” he asked, exasperated. Draco looked back, frowning. The large screen on the wall behind him was used to show the match-ups. But right now, there was only a large black number “1”, unmoving. The voice had come from the speakers attached to the screen. “It actually was expected, however,” the voice continued. “You were just a pawn, in the end. And you served me as a pawn would. Die to open the way for the more useful to pass through.” Z stepped back from the duel arena, breathing rapidly. He began to run, but stumbled and fell. The people that had gathered around to watch the duel quickly moved away, afraid he might do something weird. “N-no. No, I’m sorry! Forgive me!” Before he could say anything more, a beeping sound came from his chest, and an explosion followed. When the smoke cleared, nothing was left of Z, only ripped pieces of his silver robes. Alex stepped back a bit, then gulped. “T-that’s so not cool…” “Now that’s out of the way, let me introduce myself, Draco Nelson. I am One. And you are hereby invited to join me in my quest.” “And what would that be?” Draco asked, hesitantly. “My goal is simple, and noble. I am going to finish projecting my view of an ideal world unto this one. An ideal dueling world where no single duelist is outmatched because of using old cards, or because the opponent has overpowered cards. And to do that I need your help. Join me, as I create a perfect team of duelists who, along with me, will enforce this absolute law!” “No way! What yer doin’ is crazy!” Draco said, slamming his fist on the steel railing. “Hmm…I wonder what’s that slight beeping noise I‘m hearing…” Matt muttered, frowning slightly. “Y-you mean the bomb to his chest?” Alex asked. “No, it’s right now…” “By the way,” One said. “Note the time in the corner.” Draco raised an eyebrow at this, but turned his eyes to the time at the bottom of the screen, as did the others. “But that’s…five hours ago…” Draco muttered. “It was…pre-recorded?” Alex said, frowning. Matt gasped. “Everyone, get out! The bomb to Z’s chest triggered the countdown to a bigger one! And it’s here!” Everyone began scrambling out of the building as fast as they could. Some got trampled on, others got pushed down. And then the explosion grew from the center of the dueling arena, and engulfed the entire building. Fusion X. Denver
That was certainly interesting, DL. Don't get why effect monsters are out-lawed, but I'm sure that'll be explained. Few things though: When writing duels, it's best to list monsters' stats when they're summoned, as in their ATK and DEF or even their Level. It may look messy, but it's easier for the reader to keep up with the duel. Explaining the effects through the characters is alright though. The one other thing, I don't think you would have been able to attack with the three magnet warriors after summoning Valkyrion. It was my impression that once you start your Battle Phase, it ends when you summon any monsters, which you did, so your Battle Phase would have ended. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that's a rule. Good story though. Now could you work on KS please =.=
DL
I'll keep the stat thing in mind. Tho in truth, it may be unnecesary, since the reader can guess their stats from the Life Point subtraction. (and I list the attack if there is not gonna be any) As for Valkyrion, its effect doesn't state when it can be used. So basically you can use it during the Battle Phase, allowing for all 3 of the Magna Warriors to attack. Thanks for readin. And yes, the effect thing definitely will be. Sploda
Your correct Fusion, once entering the battle phase, the only way to summon again is to go into the Main Phase 2. Basically this duel used YGO Anime Rule #3: There is no Main Phase 2, only a continuous Battle Phase where summons are allowed.

DL
Your correct Fusion, once entering the battle phase, the only way to summon again is to go into the Main Phase 2. Basically this duel used YGO Anime Rule #3: There is no Main Phase 2, only a continuous Battle Phase where summons are allowed.
Special Summons are allowed. And Valkyrion's effect SPECIAL SUMMONS them Thus it was perfectly legal. In fact, it's one of the best uses for Valkyrion. @Itachi - Lol xD
Vector Nightmare
It's actually something a little more advanced than "you can't summon during the Battle Phase", but equally important. Ignition effects, like Valkyrion's, can only be activated during your Main Phase unless otherwise stated. So yeah, that play was completely illegal. That said, this story was a nice effort. Grim and dark as all stories should be. I like Dave's character the most, but... uh, the ending was rather bad. I mean, outlawing effect monsters? And what was up with the police being like criminals? I'm not sure I liked it, entirely, but you're correct in one thing at least - it is better than 90% of what is found here.
DL
Well that makes more sense. That said, I'll try and look into rulings next time I try for something like that, since card wording is often misinterpreted. And the police aren't thugs/criminals. Even though one of them had to disguise himself as one, it'll be explained later. I tried to make Dave likeable, so glad it worked. Oh, and effect monsters being outlawed is a big part of the plot. But at least I showed duels aren't necessarily boring with vannilas, right? (even if it was illegal) [s]And yes! I have succeeded in my attempt to surpass most of YCM's Yugioh fics since most of them suck.[/s]

Dragon decks would also pwn. Cause they have a LOT of big vanillas, and big vanilla fusions.

DL
TBH, I'm adding close friends already, but IDK much about you, so if you wanna appear, just PM with with a deck type/list you'd want. I'll figure out personality and stuff from there.
~British Soul~
ok then... another question what about gemini monsters, are they outlawed?
DL
Indeed, since they have effects, even if it's an effect that innitially makes them normal monsters. But you could just be an underground duelist. Those get to use effects, but they can't go above ground or the police will catch them.
~British Soul~
i was mainly asking that question in general
Dr. Cakey
Yeah, Ignition Effects are Spell Speed 1 unless otherwise stated. Basic YGOz. Although that's an effect Valkyrion should have...it has a very nice flavor to be able to fuse and split apart at will. When he said dueling isn't like it used to be, I expected this to be WTF MANG OTK RAEG I REMEMBER WHEN U SUMMONED BEWD N WON DA DOOL, but it's actually the reverse. DL
OMG I just came up with an idea to validate the duel in the first chapter.
Right before the ban, obviously, since the ban was caused by this, the card-making companies decided to switch some effects a bit, and some rulings. One of those was, of course, making Valkyrion able to change back during the battle phase. As well as many other monsters that got changed. So they (they remains a mystery to you guys. Haha.) felt the cards started getting way overpowered. and thus the ban.
And yeah, I'm probably one of the only people who miss old-school dueling, so I guess I got inspiration off of my undying hate for synchros. Fusion X. Denver
Wait, some of us are in this? Are you Dave then? Or is it a mix of OCs and us?
Sploda
@DL I know how you feel, I miss the old days of YGO where REBD and BEWD were in almost every Deck and everyone wanted a Dark Magician. I find that however, with the decks I use I can still beat people who use Synchro Monsters.
DL
@Fusion - Dave is an OC. MATTHEW, however... And no, I am being original. I am NOT making myself the main character insert. Tho it's basically a mix of us and some OCs. @Creator - You're good then. Because the only deck I use that can live up to today's metagame is Macros. Because it's just so godly against meta. Sploda
I use a mix between E-Heros and REBD for my deck, with annoying anti-Special Summon Traps and Spells.
DL
XD I love cards that go against Synchros. (like Anti-Special Summon) I fear Exceeds will make me hate them too. Somehow they will.
