[MTG] Drafting

Recommended Posts

One of the coolest things about MTG is all the different ways you can play it. One of my personal favs is drafting. In it 8 people sit down at a table each with 3 packs. The open 1, take a card, and pass it to the person next to them. The do this till all cards are taken. From there you make a deck of 40 cards and play a few matches with them. Not only is there a lot of skill involved, it also gives a use to a lot of cards in the set.

for those that want to know what it's like.

So, thoughts on drafting, and for those of you that have drafted, what have your experiences been.

Draftings ok, but there's usually someone who has an amazing advantage from the get-go. Still, it takes a LOT of skill to make even a DECENT draft deck. I don't normally draft. Instead, I do that thing where everyone has to make a deck out of six packs (from the prerelease events). I did a draft on MTGO and made an OK blue-white ally deck but...it didn't do as well as I had hoped.

The thing about drafting is that Luck sometimes overwhelmes strategy. You can commit to a color in the first round, and get nothing good of that color on the second round of picks. Still, it's really fun =P

mmm looks interesting
Presonally I neveer had had the chance to properly go to one Draft event but I did it online...

Right now...with my result (Draft New Phyrxia 8 Players - 3 Boosters):
I could build something like this

4 Impaleer Shrike
4 Hover Myr
3 Vault Skirge
3 Pestilent Souleater

2 Torpor Orb
2 Pristine Talisman
2 Despise
2 Conversion Chamber
2 Vapor Snag

8 Island
8 Swamp

As you see making some choices can be dificult...I left a couple Mental Mindteps and a Geth's Verdict Behind, in order to get more consistency for the Deck but hey picking 2 Torpor Orbs made it for it...Draft is REALLY fun and a recomendation for begginer to decent players to omprove their skills...

=D
