Activate only when an opponent's monster declares an attack. Select 1 Spell Card in your opponent's Graveyard. This card's effect is the same as that Spell Card's.

i remember when this was used to take any card in their grave in the anime.... god joey was trolling with it

nabbing the time machine against bandit keith
nabbing the aerosol to kill the insect queen

good times

What about the time he grabbed his own Jinzo from Odion's Graveyard (because that was Foolish Burial's effect, somehow)?

Not really good for anything. If you could use the Spell as Graverobber's effect or something, then we'd have something. With Magician of Faith still banned and very few Spell Retrieval run, it's not really even good for grabbing Spels just so they cant use it that turn.

But let me get this straight: For me to use that Spell card, I must use 1 card from my hand? IDG how the effect works :o

It's worded very strangely.

It should pretty much say: "Select one Spell Card from your opponent's Graveyard and add it to your hand. If you use the card this turn, take 2000 damage. During the End Phase, if you did not activate the card, it is returned to your opponent's Graveyard."

The fact that it becomes your hand is rather annoying. A 1-card hand, even if it has that in it, is only useful if you just set every spell you intend on using.

As bad as the lore sounds, it doesn't actually "become" your hand. The Spell Card just gets added to your hand.

It begs the question why it hasn't gotten an errata yet (aside from it's a worthless reprint). Really, my lore is more clear and matches the rulings for the card.

Aside from what the hell "use" refers to. The rulings say that Setting the card does not inflict damage and it still goes to the Grave at the end of the turn, so I assume "use" just means "activate".

I'm guessing Black Feather Dragon can prevent that damage?
That would give that pseudo-signer a use. Although it still depends on your opponent, and depending on your opponent tends to not be too concistent.

I remember during Yugi's era I could always use this for fun. Then during the GX era it was very worthless as all Spells I saw were archtype-based,an staples were limited or banned.
Good thing that problem got fixed a little during the 5ds era. Its at least viable.

Those 2000 damage make me think...

If you use it for the cost of an effect, you will take 2000 Damage immediately, before anyone can chain a Chain Link #2.

If the activation of the Spell Card is negated, you do not take damage.

Damage is inflicted immediately after the Spell Card you activate resolves, even if in the middle of a chain (say you stole a Quick-Play Spell and activated it as Chain Link #2 or higher).

I hate playing the "It'd be better" game, but...it'd really be better if the spell card either didn't go away or it only cost 1000 LP per use. I'd much rather use 2000 LP on a warning then on a...generic spell card. Also, with the rise of archetypes these days, you're really limited on options to play this card.

Well, as consolation, it's not a cost, but damage, so BWD can negate it...and Prime Material can replenish your LP instead...
