So, this story features many people around YCM as the characters, though it does not explicitly state who they are. The names will contain hints of who they are, with things that are commonly known. Each arc will be in a different post. As such, I will not specifically label where each arc begins and ends. Music will end when the section ends, unless otherwised stated. Deck lists will include Custom Card descriptions. Other than that, it's a Yugioh fic, so... enjoy!
“What would you like to drink?” the waitress asked the young man and woman sitting in a booth near the front of the restaurant.

The place was designed to look like a French Café, until one looked at the inside, which was just a regular restaurant. “I’d like a cup of espresso, please.” The blonde man said, “And she would like some water.”

The waitress nodded, before running off to place the order. “I expect this of Cerise, but Andrew being late? I wonder what’s up…” Isaac mused aloud to his companion.

“Well, you know Mia often drags him off places, Isaac. Just be patient.” Amelia said with a smile. “Besides, I like hanging out with you.”

The two began to chat about everything from school to the waitress had returned with their drinks. “What would you like to eat?” She asked, a plastered smile on her face.

“We’re waiting on some friends.” The waitress nodded, and walked off once more.

“People should really enjoy their jobs.” The blonde mused as he poured some creamer into his coffee.

As he mixed it up, a woman’s voice cut through the crowd. “Little broooother!” Came the cry, and the two at the table turned to see Cerise running in, virtually dragging Andrew along with her.

Isaac cut a quick glance at Amelia, rolling his eyes in the process, and causing her to giggle a little. As soon as Isaac returned his gaze to his sister, as she dragged her friend to the table in, and scooted into the booth next to Amelia, while shoving Andrew next to Isaac. “So, did you order for me?” Cerise asked, not even bothering to say hello.

“No. Why would I order for you? I haven’t even ordered for myself.” Isaac retorted, prompting an angry reaction from the pink haired girl.

“I’ve told you time and again to go ahead and order if I am late!”

((OST 3 Start))

Without missing a beat, the two began to bicker, almost in a sort of tempo. Insults of height, grades, and skill were exchanged, causing the other two members of the group to feel awkward about the situation. “So, uh, Amelia”, Andrew began, “How has school been lately? You’re a senior now, right?”

The girl nodded slowly, watching the fight. Breaking her eyes away, the blue haired girl turned to Andrew. “Yup. Just started about three weeks ago. IT doesn’t seem that bad. You think it’s time to stop them, again?” She noted, looking back to the twins.

“I believe so.” Andrew agreed, pushing his glasses up. “Guys, why not just duel like you usually do?” He asked the siblings.

“What, so I can win, AGAIN? Sure, why not?” Cerise asked with a sly grin. Isaac looked away, muttering something about a fluke. “Sure, why not? Haven’t ordered yet, so no reason not to. Just need to pay my tab.”

-------

“So, little brother, ready to go?” Cerise asked, disk raised outside. “I told you, you’re a minute older. BIG time gap.” Isaac groaned. “Whatever, let’s just start. Ladies first.” He sarcastically demanded.

((OST 4 Start))

“Alright then,” Cerise called, as they both drew their hands, Cerise drawing a sixth card.

Taking a quick look over his hand, Isaac took account of the cards he had drawn.

”Alright…”, he thought ”I got Rose Maiden and Archfiend Guide. This sets me up nicely.”

His thoughts were interrupted when his twin called out “I activate the spell card, Dark World Dealings! We both draw and discard 1 card!”

When they discarded, a small, purple bat-like fiend came flying out of Cerise’s grave, pulling a chain. As he pulled, a small blue elephant squeezed out with Indian garb on, and stepped on the fiend as he came to a rest on the ground.

“I discarded my The Fabled Ganashia, allowing me to Special Summon him from my Graveyard! He also gains 200 ATK because he was Special Summoned like that!”

The beast trumpeted as his ATK increased to 1800. “Next, I activate the effect of my Fabled Grimro in my hand! By sendind her to the Graveyard, I can add 1 Faled monster from my deck to my hand! I choose The Fabled Chawa!”

As Grimro descended into the grave, her hand held up Chawa, which then flew to Cerise’s hand. “Then, I activate Chawa! I discard m Fabled Krus, and Special Summon Chawa in DEF!”

As the small bat fiend riding Chawa tugged on his reins, the chihuahua yipped, and bounced off a card in Cerise’s hand, sending it to the grave. Moments later, sounds of crying were heard, as Grimro was revived. “When I discard Krus, she Special Summons 1 Level 4 or lower Fabled from my grave! So I revived Grimro! Now, I set 1 card, and I activate another Dark World Dealings.”

Once again, the two duelists drew one and discarded one card. This time, yipping came from Cerise’s grave. “Now, since I discarded The Fabled Cerburrel, he revives himself!”

With a start, the three-headed red dog came flying out of the grave, carrying his “Keeper” with him. “I set one card. Next, I am tuning my Chawa with my Grimro (1+4)! Synchro Summon! T.G. Hyper Librarian!”

A white and black-clad magician appeared from the tuning ring made by Chawa, and began to flip through a book it held. “Then, I tune my Cerburrel to my Ganashia (2+3)!”

A four pronged fissure appeared, and devoured Ganshia’s body as 3 stars went into the two rings made by the cerberus. A low chuckle filled the area as two small bat fiends appeared with grins around the rings. “A laugh from hell makes its way to heaven! Mocking the lost sky, the fallen angel grants his own weak power! Synchro Summon! Fly once more, Fabled Ragin!”

A yellow fiend, with black bat wings and red eyes, rose from the ground, a grin on his face. As he stood erect, he spread his wings wide. Both flashed a bright yellow, and under them appeared 2 cards. “When I Synchro Summon Ragin, I can draw cards until I have 2 cards in my hand! But, that’s not all!” Cerise called, as the spellcaster read his book, and produced a card from its pages.

“When I Synchro Summon, Librarian allows me to draw 1 more card!” Cerise drew 3 cards, set one more, and ended.

“Did you take long enough?” Isaac called to his sister, shaking his head.

“Fableds… She had to choose the deck with ridiculously long turns. Anyways, my turn! Draw!” Isaac looked at the card, before quickly activating it.

“I activate Synchro Monument! Now, you cannot activate cards in response to the summon of a Tuner or the Synchro Summon of a Synchro Monster!” Cerise yawned, taunting her ‘little’ brother, but he just shrugged it off.

“Next, I summon my Rose Maiden (Lv. 3)! Now, when she is Normal Summoned, I can Special Summon 1 Archfiend Guide from my hand or grave! As a woman with blue hair, resembling Black Rose Dragon appeared, a human version of Red Dragon Archfiend appeared on the field.

“Now, because I control Rose Maiden, Archfiend Guide can gain 1 level, making it level 5! Now, I tune both of my monsters together (3+5)!”

The girl grabbed the fiend’s hand, and led him into the sky. She became 3 green rings, and the Guide became 5 stars down the middle of the rings. “Behold, my very soul! The flames and darkness show the twisted power and the will within! The sinner is revealed! Through the trials of this life, I'll try once more! The monster is no longer in the dark, Red Dragon Archfiend!”

The beast appeared in flames, roaring, spreading its wings, and baring its fangs. “Since my Guide was used as material for RDA, I draw 1 card!” Drawing his card, Isaac set 2 cards.

“Alright, RDA, Absolute Powerforce!” The demon dragon roared as its right claw was set ablaze. It flung its claw at T.G. Hyper Librarian, but was stopped by a large gust of wind, causing his card to fly off the field.

“I activated my trap,” began Cerise. “Phoenix Wing Wind Blast. I can discard 1 card, then return 1 monster on the field to the top of its owner’s deck. Now, since I discarded it, my Fabled Lurrie is Special Summoned in DEF.”

Isaac cringed at losing his dragon. “I end…” He groaned.

“Alright, my turn! Well, first off, I activate the Spell Giant Trunade! Return all your cards to your hand please, seeing as you have no monsters.” The girl taunted her brother.

Once his field was clear, and her set cards were in hand, she continued. “Next, I activate The Fabled Nozoochee. I discard another Cerburrel to Special Summon Nozoochee. Then, Cerburrel revives once more.”

Cerise set 2 cards, and announced. “I’m tuning my Lurrie and Nozoochee with my Cerburrel! Synchro Summon! Fabled Ragin!”

A second yellow fiend appeared on the other side of the Librarian, granting Cerise 3 more cards. “Alright, little bro, this is it! I activate another Nozoochee, and discard another Ganashia.”

The Serpent ad Elephant rose, with e Elephant trumpeting his 200 extra ATK. “Alright, Ragin, attack!”

The blow landed, reducing Isaac’s life to 6700, and it was swiftly followed up by Nozoochee and Ganashia’s assaults, reducing him to 3600. “Now, Ragin #2 attacks, and then Librarian!”

Without being able to counter, Isaac’s life hit zero. “Good game, little brother! came Cerise’s call, to which Isaac muttered the same.

“Now, you’re buying my lunch!” the female duelist exclaimed, to which Isaac protested, knowing it was futile.

Andrew laughed at is dejected friend, while Amelia tried to cheer him p from yet another loss to his sister. The 4 walked back into the restaurant, and sat, down- Isaac’s treat.

-------

((OST 5 Begin))

As the sun set, the group had gone their separate way. Isaac had offered to walk Amelia home, but she insisted she would be fine, and, before he could protest, Cerise was dragging him off, and telling the other two goodbye. “Thanks for lunch.”

She said with a smile, giving her twin a big hug. She would always treat him like a little brother when they were away from others, and not just taunt him with it. “It’s nothing.” Isaac shrugged it off, grinning. “Besides, I let you win.”

Cerise broke out laughing, and punched him in e shoulder, which he began to rub soon after. “You’re pulling my leg, kid. The day u beat me is the day pigs fly! Now, whoever’s home last has to pay for dinner!” She called back, having already started to sprint away

“Wh-what?! NO! You guys spent all my money at lunch!” Came Isaac’s cry, begging his sister to lay off.

The siblings raced home as the sun finished setting over a hill near the twin’s home, as Cerise ran inside, giggling, and Isaac followed soon after. Another day, another hole in my pocket, another good time.

Isaac stretched out on his bed as sunbeams snaked through his window, and across his face. Glancing at the clock next to his head, he saw it was 10 AM, and it was a bright Saturday morning.

”Good…” the blonde thought, ”Did not feel like going to class today…” Sitting up, the youth rubbed his eyes, and yawned. He quickly hopped out of bed, and threw on some clothes for around the house, before heading to the kitchen.

The house was small. Two bedrooms, one bathroom, a kitchen, and a sitting room. A small backyard accompanied it, but neither of the twins made use of it. The single story home was a lucky graduation present from their parents. As long as they paid a small rent fine, they could live there while they went to school. Isaac preferred it that way, although his sister had no job and did nothing for the house’s salary. He could not imagine living far away from her.

As he thought about what he would do that day, he pulled a griddle out of a nearby cabinet, and started making breakfast. He knew that once it started, his sister would rise. Any other attempt would just end in a zombie-like woman drooling on the table. If there were two things Cerise loved, they were sleep and food.

On cue, as he finished cooking, Cerise came hovering into the kitchen with a contented smile on her face, still in her pajamas “Aaah. That smells delicious.” She said whimsically. “What’d you make this morning? OOH! Bacon!” Cerise squealed, picking up a piece, and putting it in her mouth as she grabbed a piece of bread, and popped it into the toaster.

A set table later, the twins were sitting down, eating breakfast. “So, you hear the news? Got a month off from school starting Monday.” Cerise said, through a mouthful of eggs and toast. “Apparently, the school is hosting some sort of tournament in the coming weeks for duelist teams, and they figured they would surprise us yesterday. Maybe we should enter with Amelia, Andrew, and Lyn. What do you think?”

The boy took a bite off his eggs, and swallowed, before answering. “Sounds good to me, but they really have to be up for it. We’ll ask them when we see them next.”

Before Isaac took another bite, Cerise had shot off once more. “Yeah! We can ask Andrew and Amelia today! We’ll have to ask Lyn when she comes back from her trip.” The girl took a bite of food, but did not wait to ask her next question. “So, what were your plans for today, Isaac?”

“Well, I figured I was going to go do something with Amelia or Andrew. No different than any other weekend.” Taking a sip of his drink, he choked as his sister’s reply caught him off guard.

“And by that, you mean spending time with Amelia, right?” She wore a sly smile on her face as she bit a piece of bacon. “C’mon, you know I’m right. Why don’t you two just start going out already? You’re ridiculously obvious.”

Turning red, Isaac retorted. “Well, what about you and Andrew?! You’re always tugging him along like some sort of…. Of dog! Like he’s your pet. Hugging on him and such.”

His sister stared, coyly, before walking over to him, and giving him a big hug. “Don’t I treat you the same way, little brother?” Isaac abruptly stood, and took his plate to the sink, cleaning it off, and putting it into the dishwasher.

“Please make sure to actually rinse your plate, at least, this time…” Isaac groaned, knowing full well that his sister was too enamored with her thoughts and food to hear him.

-------

A few hours later, Isaac was dressed in regular fitting jeans and a black t-shirt with a cross on it. He was headed out to go meet Amelia, when Cerise ran out, and grabbed his arm in a hug. “Soooo, let’s go get Andrew.” Isaac shot his sister a look, noting the nicer dress she was wearing, but her expression told him she would get her way. With a sigh, he told his sister to go grab their car keys. With all speed, she was in and out of the house, and they were on their way.

“By the way,” Cerise began, producing a folded envelope, and handing it to the driver. “Bought those for you, yesterday. Shooting Star Dragon, Red Nova Dragon, and Life Stream Dragon. Figured you would want them, considering they go with your deck.”
Isaac was dumbfounded, but thanked his sister. She was nice, but she never gave gifts- Especially not gifts like that

-------

By 2:30, the twins and Andrew were on their way, to get their fourth member. As they pulled up to where Amelia had told them she would be, they saw a woman standing there, with her. Her name was Lilina, a local who the group knew loosely. Cerise had been good friends with her at one point, but drifted apart.

“Why do you hang out around him all the time?” The red haired woman was asking the teen. “Do you like him?”

Amelia blushed slightly, but quickly retorted. “No! He’s just my best friend in the group.” She looked scared, yet she was standing her ground to the older female.

“Do you think your brother, Arthur, approves of this?”The 23 year old snapped. Amelia cringed, honestly not knowing what her brother thought on the matter. Before she could respond, Isaac had shot out of the driver’s seat, and was right behind Amelia, with the other two in tow.

“Any reason you’re picking on my friend here?” He asked, glaring at the scantily clad woman. She chuckled before replying.“But of course. For one, I was not picking on her, as you so eloquently put it, and for two, I was just stating a point. A high school girl hanging out with college students? Tell me I’m not the only one seeing it here!” She growled.

Cerise merely stared at the woman, before making her case. “Leave her alone, Lilina. She’s done nothing to you.” Before he could continue, Lilina snapped. “The name is Lily, not Lilina! Only people close to me can use my full name, and we are no longer close!”

Amelia had been hiding behind Isaac as her friends talked to Lilina, and now she was tugging on his arm. “Come on, Isaac, guys, it’s alright…” She muttered. “I’m fine, she didn’t do anything…” But Isaac would hear none of it. “I challenge you to a duel Lilina.” He called to the woman, who now looked intrigued. “If I win, you leave Amelia alone. If you win, you can do as you please.”

“Fine, have it your way.” The redhead smirked. “You can start by the way.” As soon as both raised their disks, they both called out “DUEL!” and Isaac drew his 6 cards, quickly perusing them, and forming a strategy.

“Alright! I begin with the Field Spell, Synchro Monument!” 2 Grey spires appeared on either side of the duel, connected. “Next, I normal summon my Blessed Fairy!”

A woman whose skin looked like that of Ancient Fairy Dragon flew onto the field and landed, adjusting her crown slightly as she did. “Then, I activate the Starlight Familiar in my hand! I special summon her, because I control Blessed Fairy! Then, her level increases from 4 to 5!”

“Now, I tune my Blessed Fairy to my non-Tuner Starlight Familiar (3+5)!” The fairy flew into the sky, and burst into 3 green rings, which lined up for a ball of light, which was once the familiar, to enter, and become 5 smaller stars. A light exploded through the rings, and Isaac let out his chant.

“Appear, creature of hope! Do what I believe you can! Protect and heal, fly for freedom! Show the broken that more can be found, give them reason to believe! Synchro Summon! Slice through the night, Stardust Dragon!”

A screech filled the air as the beast appeared out of the rings. It descended next to Isaac, as he continued his turn. “I set one card, and I end.”

The whole time Isaac had gone, a sly smile had been worn by Lilina. “Alright, then, my turn.” She drew, but simply added the card to her hand. “I start by discarding my Creation Resonator to special Summon The Tricky from my hand! Then, I normal summon Delta Flyer!”

A checkered magician, with a red question mark on its face, and a leathery dragon were side by side on Lilina’s field. “Now, I tune my level 3 Delta Flyer to my level 5 The Tricky.” She took a breath, and then began to recite.
“Shake life as we know, dragon from hell! Raze the earth, break the mountains, and split the skies! Roar with the might of the tyrant! Synchro Summon! Appear in flames, Red Dragon Archfiend!”

Isaac’s own signature creature appeared before him, being used against him. It roared, and Lilina continued her turn. “Next, I special summon both Creation Resonator and Red Nova from my hand!”

A red fairy appeared next to a grinning fiend with a flower shaped fan growing out of its back. The fairy flapped her wings, and the fiend hit the tuning fork it carried, and, together, they became 4 burning rings.

“Behold, the true ruler of hell! His roars dwarf all others; his power destroys all in its way! His presence alone causes the earth to convulse! Synchro Summon! Double tuning! Let Creation tremble before you, Red Nova Dragon!”

The flaming rings began to spin, and become a ball around Red Archfiend Dragon which then exploded, revealing the new beast. The black and red dragon roared as it swung its two-pronged tail about. As it did so, its ATK increased to 5500. “And, he gets a boost for every tuner in the grave! 4 including the Creation Resonator I discarded!” called Lilina as his ATK finished setting.

”Damn!” was all Isaac could think, being stared down by the creature he had just obtained. He knew it was not over, either, because Lilina still held 2 cards. “Next, I activate spell Future Fusion! I send 2 Debris Dragon and 3 Dread Dragon to the Graveyard, and reveal Five-Headed Dragon from my extra deck.”

Once more, her monster roared, this time gaining 2500 more ATK, boosting it to 8000. Lilina then activated the last card in her hand. “Now I activate Flying Dragon Whirl! I can send 4 dragons from my deck to the grave to increase Red Nova’s ATK by 300 for each sent! I send 2 Influence Dragon, and 2 Delta Flyer, so Red Nova gains 1200!” The energy from the whirl filled Red Nova as it roared, increasing its ATK by a total of 3200 more, making Red Nova Dragon have 11200 ATK.

“Hope you can stop it” Lilina said with a taunting giggle. “Attack Stardust, Red Nova! Burning Soul!” The blast hit Stardust Dragon, reducing Isaac’s Life Points to 0 with just one shot. He was in a daze as he deactivated his disk. His sister had pulled off one turn kills, but nothing like that.

Lilina waltzed over, and grabbed the top card of Isaac’s deck, looking at it. “Mono Synchron, eh? Mind if I do this?” With that, Lilina ripped the card in half. Isaac looked at her with shock, but before he could protest, she reminded him, “You said I could do anything.”

Cerise was trembling at her one time friend’s actions, not actually believing them, despite seeing them. It was as if she got a sick thrill from making others miserable, and it made her sick.

When Lilina reached for another card from Isaac’s deck, Amelia shot in front of him. “Leave Isaac alone.” She growled, finding some strength in herself, now standing up as if she had never been down.

“Or what? You’ll get Arthur on my case? I’m not worried in the least!” Lilina laughed, and continued to reach for a card, before Amelia grabbed her arm, and pushed it aside.

“Duel me! The same stakes you had with Isaac, except to leave him alone if I win!” The fire burned in Amelia’s blue eyes as the wind whipped her matching hair about. With a shrug, Lilina turned back to the teenage girl.

“Eeeh, why not? I have nothing better to do.” The two raised their disks as had been done not long before by Isaac and Lilina, and called out in unison “Duel!”

Isaac watched on, concerned. ”Can she do it? She’s not used to things like Synchros yet…” He decided to leave it to her, and to root her on from the sidelines.

“Duel!” came the simultaneous cries of Amelia and Lilina, standing opposite one another, raising their disks, and drawing 5 cards each.

“You can go first, my dear.” Lilina said with the same sly smile as before. ”I bet that means she thinks she is going to OTK again, but she’s not the only one set up.”

“Alright, I draw! First off, I activate the Spell Double Summon! During this turn, I can normal summon once more this turn. So, I’ll set the wheels in motion with my Red Gadget!” The gear-based machine appeared out of its card, with the gear on its back spinning wildly.

“Now, when I normal summon Red Gadget, I can add Yellow Gadget to my hand!” As Amelia placed the new Gadget into her hand, Red Gadget’s gear ceased its motion. “Next, I’ll normal summon Yellow Gadget as well!” The yellow machine appeared, spinning its central gear and causing the other two to spin, as well.

“As Red begets Yellow, Yellow begets Green!” The blue haired youth called out, adding Green Gadget to her hand as Yellow Gadget’s gears whirred to a stop. Amelia set two cards, when Lilina posed a question.

“Is that it? I mean, I know you don’t duel as much, or as well, as them, but just summoning two Gadgets? I shouldn’t even be playing you if that is al-“

“It’s not all.” Amelia cut the red head off. “I’m overlaying my Red and Yellow Gadgets.” The blue haired maiden stacked the two gadgets, and pulled a card out of her Extra Deck’s compartment on her disk. As she did, a vortex resembling a galaxy appeared in between the two women, swirling as the two Gadgets became lights that flew into the center of the space.

“The cogs of fate call out into the universe! Calls for help beyond what is normally capable! In exchange for their power, the alien insects lend their aid! Exceed Summon! Hold your opponent’s at bay, Steelswarm Roach!”

As the chant ended, a yellow armor-clad insect rose out of the galaxy, two stars streaming around his body. He pulled a spiked sword out of a sheath on his right hip, and held the point towards Lilina, while his right hand rested on his hip. The most unusual factor, though, was the reptilian tail coming out the back of the creature.

“And, with that, I will end my turn.” Amelia said, pressing a button on her disk to turn over the turn count.

-------

“Did you know she had started running Exceeds?” Andrew asked Isaac, without removing his eyes from the duel. Isaac just shook his head no.

“It’s a surprise to me. What’s next, she actually runs a Synchro monster?” Isaac asked no one in particular. His sister nudged him, and looked him in the eye.

“You should really be paying attention here, Isaac. If you don’t, well… You’re much more dense than I am.” Cerise told him, looking him straight in the eye. “Notice how afraid she was moments before, and how she is acting so bold, now. I know I teased you earlier, but… there is something really there if she is acting like that.

-------

Lilina scowled, not knowing the effect of the Exceed monster before her. The sub-type was brand new as a whole, and she had not looked into it much, yet. After this, though, she knew she would need to.

“Alright, my turn.” The crimson-haired woman said as she drew. “I’ll start off by special summoning my Oracle of the Sun from my hand.” An Incan priest appeared in front of Lilina, kneeling in front of her, with his staff held as if to block an attack. “Next, I’ll normal summon m Delta Flyer.” As with only minutes before, a leathery dragon appeared in front of her.

“You know what’s next. Now, I’m tuning my Lv. 3 Delta Flyer with my Lv. 5 Oracle of the Sun! Shake life as we know, dragon from hell! Raze the earth, break the mountains, and split the skies! Roar with the might of the tyrant! Synchro Summon! Appear in flames, Red Dragon Archfiend!”

As Lilina finished her chant, Amelia called out, “I activate the effect of my Steelswarm Roach!” When she spoke, one of the overlaid unit’s stars hovering around the fiend went into the sword it held. The sword adapted a black, liquid-like form beneath the surface. “By removing one of the overlaid units, I can negate the special summon of a Lv. 5 or higher monster! Roach, negate Red Dragon Archfiend!” The Steelswarm swung his blade down, and the liquid shot towards Red Dragon Archfiend in the form of a wave. When it hit the dragon, it quickly covered every inch of its body devouring it from the outside in, eventually leaving nothing.

Lilina growled at the loss of her dragon, but set two cards and ended her turn. ”DAMN!”, she spat within the confines of her mind. ”I need to take care of that Roach, and fast, or I’m done.”

“My turn! I draw, then summon Green Gadget, adding a Red Gadget from my deck to my hand! Next, I activate the Trap Ultimate Offering!” A red ooze appeared on the teen’s head and shoulders when she activated the trap, and it seemed to sap energy whenever she activated it. She cringed as her LP dropped to 7500. “I normal summon Mobius, The Frost Monarch!” The goo shot from her Shoulders onto the field, and formed a puddle, out of which the blue, knight-themed emperor appeared alongside Roach, in a pillar of ice. Then, the goo returned to its initial place.

“When Mobius is summoned, I can destroy 2 Spell or Trap cards on the field! I choose your two set cards.” The images raised, revealing Call of the Haunted and Limit Reverse, before they were covered in ice, and shattered. Lilina cursed her luck as she deposited the cards into the grave.

“Now, Mobius and Roach attack directly!” The combined assault of the fiend’s blade and the monarch’s punch dealt a total of 4300 damage to Lilina, lowering her to 3700 LP. “I’ll set one card, and end my turn.”

-------

“Honestly, find this amazing. Isaac got killed in one turn by her, yet Amelia has the upper hand against her without anything with any substantial ATK.” Andrew mused, staring on as he sipped a drink he had brought from home. “Wonder when this change happened?”

“I’d say she’s been practicing, likely to impress someone.” Cerise said, with a slight, knowing smile. Before she could continue with her point, Isaac decided to distract her.

“So, Cerise… How did you find the money for those cards? The three aces you just got me?” He asked, using the question he did not think of earlier as an escape.

“Oh, well, I actually bought them from some guy on the street. He was standing by the mall, and he just offered me the three cards for twenty bucks. I wasn’t going to decline that when I KNEW you had been looking for them, little bro.” She said with a wink.

Both Isaac and Andrew stared at her with bewildered expressions. “… What?” The strawberry blonde asked, genuinely confused.

“You trusted some random guy on the street?” Andrew began, and Isaac quickly followed up with “And then you proceed to buy something from him?”

Blinking incredulously, Cerise simply replied “Well, something told me I should trust him. Is there anything wrong with that?

“Yes. There is a LOT wrong with that.” Isaac said flatly, to which Cerise demanded her cards back, if he did not like them. The two started to bicker before a calm world from Andrew quelled the storm.

“Guys,” The white haired man began, “You might want to watch this now.”

-------

“My turn!” Lilina snapped, drawing a card from her deck, and grinning like a opossum. “I activate Dark Hole! Both of your monsters are destroyed!” She laughed as Roach and Mobius were torn apart by the gravity of the hole. “Now that that is clear, I activate Water of Life, and revive Oracle of the Sun! Next, I activate Monster Reborn, and revive my Delta Flyer! Now, I tune them both into Red Dragon Archfiend!”

The rings lined up, and exploded into the demonic dragon once more, this time roaring free, without any hindrance. The beast seemed to be more enraged than before, fire sparkling all around it.

“Now, you little b****, take this! Attack!” The devil’s dragon attacked Amelia, but the ooze jumped from her shoulders once more, this time taking the form of Red Gadget before melting away, revealing the real Red Gadget, as Amelia added Yellow Gadget to her hand. The ooze, however, swirled around the feet of Red Gadget this time, and shot up, devouring the machine, and formed a hulking warrior’s body. “I paid 1000 LP, and summoned Red Gadget, then tribute it for Caius the Shadow Monarch!” As she spoke, the fair girl’s LP hi 6000. “Now, Caius, remove Red Dragon Archfiend from play!” Caius shot a ball of shadows at the dragon, which quick lucked it deep into the depths of the imploding ball. As soon as the ball was gone, Caius shot another ball at Lilina, inflicting 1000 damage to her, leaving her at 2700 LP.

With nothing to do, the red headed woman ended her turn, grumbling. “My turn!” Amelia called out, drawing her last card. “I activate Monster Reborn, reviving my Steelswarm Roach! Now, Caius, attack!” Caius shot a third ball at Lilina, this time reducing her life to 300. “Now, Roach, Dark Cavalier!” The fiend swordsman held his sword straight up in front of himself, before dashing forward, leaving a shadow of itself behind him, and slashing Lilina for game.

-------

Amelia extended her hand to her opponent, who looked at her with anger in her eyes. “Good game, Lilina.” Amelia said, genuinely. Lilina smacked away her hand.

“Just wait,” The redhead began, “Just you wait! I will not just live this down! I will do as I agreed for now, but that is it!” Lilina raised her hand as if to strike Amelia when a call came from the road nearby.

“Li-lilina, get over here. D-dash called a team meeting.” The boy said. Amelia recognized him as an acquaintance of hers, from school, named Mack O’Malley. ”What is he doing with someone like her?” she wondered. Mack always seemed nice, to her. Not like Lilina, at all.

Lilina snapped something about be there in a few, then turned to the group. “You two, Isaac and Amelia, are in my sights. I suggest treading lightly.” With that, she hopped on her motorcycle, and sped off. Amelia waved to Mack, who seemed to get scared, and ran off without saying anything. “I wonder what that was about…” Amelia mused aloud.

Andrew was the first to approach the teen. “Great job, Amelia! You really surprised us out there with the Exceed out of nowhere.” Amelia smiled. “Oh, I just added them in not too long ago. Gotta get with the flow, right?” She laughed lightly and thanked her older friend, before walking over to Isaac and Cerise. “You alright, Isaac?” She asked the blonde.

“I should really be asking you that, shouldn’t I?” He said with a sigh. “Sorry abo-“

As he apologized, Amelia made a shushing noise. “No need to apologize. You did nothing wrong. So, Cerise, how did I do?”

“You did great! I think Isaac should treat us all to dinner for it!” Andew and Amelia broke out laughing at the stereotypical nature of the situation, while Isaac began to fuss at his sister about the fact he had no money. “If you can talk to shady street vendors, you can buy dinner!”

The group piled into the car, headed for a fair at a pier on the other side of town. The initial plans the group had had were ruined, but they could still make the last event of the planned day.

”Man, today has been weird. First a ridiculous OTK, and then Amelia using Exceeds? Not to mention Lilina antagonizing Amelia… I wonder what that was about…” the driver mused all the way to the fair.

“What is it, Dash?!” Lilina snapped at the blonde man as he fiddled with an oddly pink motorcycle. “Mack told me you wanted me back, and I’m curious as to what could have been so important to interrupt what I was doing.”

Parco Dash stood up, and turned toward the angry red-head, looking completely solemn. Then, he randomly gave her a thumbs up and a smile. “I wanted you to see my new bike! I’m basing it on ponies! Besides, what could be more important than this?”

Lilina stared in silence, a dark look on her face. “You called me from getting even… To look at a PONY MOTORCYCLE?”

“Why, yes I did. Isn’t it wonderful? And… getting even? I thought I told you I want this team to just have fun, not take it all that seriously! We’re not villains in some children’s story!” The apparent leader of the team shouted, seriously contrasting his subordinate.

“But, this is different!” Lilina snapped, “They intruded on my own personal business!”

With a sigh, Dash turned back to his bike. “Listen, we here at Team Umbrinous are fun loving, not vindictive. We’re trying to enjoy the game, so don’t hold grudges, or you’ll be forever alone.” Arm held his fist in front of his face, and tears poured down his face.

Lilina scoffed, and left her leaders’ workshop, almost running into Mack on the way out. “Watch it, O’Malley” the woman growled.

“No, Lilina, you watch it. I was in the doorway, and you walked into me. Apologize.”

Mack’s demeanor was almost the complete opposite of when he had called for Lilina earlier, and Lilina knew that when he was in this mood, she should just step aside. She muttered an almost silent apology, and rushed past him, to head to her room.

-------

Parking the car in the piers lot, Isaac instructed his friends. “Alright, we’re short on time, due to our little sidetrack. We have about… 3 hours before we need to leave, so avoid long lines. Be back here by 9:15, or I am leaving without you. Oh, and, sis? Please don’t get suckered into one of those games. You know you are terrible at them.”

“I am not!” Came Cerise’s defiant reply, causing Isaac to chuckle. “So, what are we waiting for?” The four of them climbed out of the car, with Isaac and Amelia headed towards the rides while Cerise began to drag Andrew towards the game booths, despite the warning moments before.

-------

“Aaaandreeeew!!!! Win me a stuffed Krus!” Cerise whined, tugging on her friend’s arm. She was motioning to a nearby dart throwing booth, where the big prize was a stuffed doll of Fabled Krus. “C’mooooooon! You know she is my favorite card, ever!”

Andrew sighed, and cleaned his glasses while the pink haired girl was virtually hanging on his arm. “Fine, I don’t see why not. Just pay for it yourself. I’m not your boyfriend, though you drag me around like one.”

Cerise handed him some money, to his surprise, and pushed him over to the booth. “You said you’d do it if I paid, so do it.” The pink-haired girl grinned slyly. With a sigh, Andrew paid the booth manager the money Cerise had given him, and got three darts. He threw the first at a white balloon, and came up with nothing. The second one he threw hit a blue balloon that was also a dud. However, the third one he threw hit a small red balloon that revealed a ‘BIG PRIZE!’ sticker underneath.

Cerise jumped up and squealed like a little school girl before tackling Andrew with a hug. “THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!” She squealed, before running up, and grabbing a Krus doll. She held it tight to her chest with a wide grin, and continued to just prance about euphorically.

Andrew could not help but laugh at his friend’s antics a little. ”Man, she sure can act like a little girl, at tmes. Yet, at others, she is so serious…. I don’t get it. At all.”

Cerise gave her pale-haired friend another hug, causing the guy running the booth to finally comment. “Ya know, you two are an adorable couple.” The two college students turned red as tomatoes, Andrew losing his voice, and Cerise explaining it away as just being good friends. The man gave a knowing chuckle, and sent them on their way, wishing them well.

“Erm… So, uh… What do you want to do now?” Cerise asked, mouth covered by the dolls’ head. “Maybe we could check out a few rides?” She asked, before Andrew made a turn in that direction without speaking. “Hey! Wait up!”

-------

Amelia sat next to Isaac on the Ferris Wheel, looking out over the fair. She wondered if she could see Andrew or Cerise from up there, doing whatever it was they were doing. []”It’s so nice up here… Quiet.. Away from the world… Just Isaac and I. I wish things could be like this more often…” Her thoughts were interrupted when Isaac cleared his throat and began to speak.

“Amelia… Thanks for standing up for me back there. I mean, not only am I unsure who all would do that for me, when it involves someone like Lilina, but also because I was supposed to be helping you out. I’m sorry that you had to fight on my behalf.”

The teenager responded with a soft smile. “Isaac, don’t worry about it. We’re friends, right? We’ll help each other out, however we can, whenever we can.” She gave him a quick hug, and noted that their booth was nearing the bottom of the cycle. “Seems it’s about time to get off. I think I’m going to take another ride on here. Wanna stick around?”

“No, I think we should be going. There’s someone here for us to meet. I got a call a couple days ago about it.” Isaac told Amelia, who had a perplexed look on her face.

-------

Monday Night

“So, you’re coming down this weekend? Well, that’ll be a nice surprise for sis.” Isaac spoke into the phone he was balancing on his shoulder. “She’s been dying to see you the whole time you’ve been away.”

“Well, Isaac, you know I’ve missed her too! Besides, she has all of you to keep her company while I’m away.” Came a soft, female voice from the other line. “I’m just glad for whatever time there is.”

Isaac sighed, pushing the phone to the other shoulder. “Beyond that, I consider you my good friend as well, as do Amelia and Andrew. Don’t say things like that… We all miss you. Here, how about this. Come to the fair on the pier this weekend. We’ll meet at the Hall of Mirrors at about 8:20, alright?”

“Sounds good to me!” the girl cheerily replied. “I can’t wait to see you all! I missed you guys so much.” She moved away from the phone for a moment. “Say, does Andrew still run those dragons? I hope so, because have I got a new idea for them. Well, see ya soon, Isaac!” And with that, she hung up.

-------

With a quick call to his sister, telling her and Andrew to get to the Hall of Mirrors, Isaac led Amelia to the attraction, Upon arrival, he took a quick glance at his phone for the time. ”8:15… C’mon, sis, you’d better get here soon, or she’s not going to have you to come home to…”

At 8:45, Lyn rounded the corner next to the hall, and flew like a bat out of hell at the boy and girl standing there. “Isaac! Amelia!” She called their names, as she embraced them via a tackle, “I’ve missed you so much!” Isaac smiled as Amelia exploded with happiness.

The teen bombarded her slightly older friend with questions. “How’ school going? What’s it like? Have you decided on a major? Do you have a boyfriend? And many more flew from Amelia’s tongue in just minutes.

“Well, everything is fine, honestly I just miss being around here, though it is probably for the better of everyone.” Lyn smiled, but Isaac scowled as she said that. She was beating on herself again, albeit indirectly. The two girls chatted on, until Isaac made a suggestion.

“Seeing as sis is running late, I think you should run into the house of mirrors. Make her find you. It’s already 8:30, and I think she deserves to work to find you if she’s either too lazy or busy to get here.”

Lyn nodded to agree, and ran into the hall. “Do you really think she means some of the stuff she says?” Amelia asked the blonde, never removing her eyes from the hall. “She seems to think we don’t need her… It’s sad…”

“I know… But we can’t change it by being sad.” Isaac leaned against the outside wall of the hall as he awaited his sister and friend, passing the time by chatting with Amelia.

-------

“Hey! Little bro! We’re heeeere!” Cerise called as she ran up to the Hall of Mirrors. “So, who is it we were supposed to meet?”

Isaac glared at his sister before speaking. “You are half an hour late. It’s 8:50.” Cerise blinked, and shrugged, proceeding to ramble on about her Krus. However, Andrew seemed much more repentant.

“Sorry about that, Isaac. You know how Cerise can be. ‘That looks fun!’, ‘OOH, Cotton Candy!’, ‘ROLLER COASTER!’, and so on and so forth.” Cerise protested, but he merely sighed, before continuing. “So, who is it you wanted us to meet, here?”

“You’re so late, you have to go into the hall to find them.I suggest splitting up, to save time. We planned to leave at 9:15, after all.” Isaac resumed his leaning stance as Andrew and Cerise entered. Andrew took the path to the left, and Cerise went to the right.

About 20 yards into the maze, Andrew saw a reflection in the mirrors, resembling Happy Lover. It seemed to flit away, leading him to a small clearing deeper in the maze. When it finally stopped, he saw a green-haired, green-eyed girl standing there, disk raised. “Hey, Andrew!” Lyn called out, “Ready to duel?”

Andrew blinked at Lyn’s request that accompanied her appearance. “Lyn? You’re in town? Ah… So that’s why Isaac was so bent on I meeting here…” He mused aloud.

“Yup!” Lyn replied with a smirk. “I’m home for the month long break, same as your college. We got the break too, for some reason. Apparently it’s important. I know why, but I’ll save it for later. Raise your disk!” Lyn returned Happy Lover to her deck, and it auto shuffled. She waited patiently as he spoke once more.

“You just got here, and you want to duel? I mean, I know we established that we were rivals, but why this soon? Wouldn’t you rather go see Cerise first? I would also mention Amelia and Isaac, but I take it you’ve already seen them.”

“I have, and because, Andrew, it is a fun way to reconnect! That, and we are rivals, remember?” The green-haired girl drew her hand. “You can go first.” With a sigh, Andrew activated his disk, and the two simultaneously announced the beginning of the match.

“Alright, I’ll start by activating the Continuous Spell, Future Fusion. I reveal the monster Elemental Hero Absolute Zero from my Extra Deck, and send Elemental Hero Ice Edge and Caravan of the Ice Barrier from my deck to the Graveyard.” An image of a knight clad in white appeared in front of the spell card, before fading away. He set 2 cards facedown before proceeding.

“Now, I normal summon Deep Sea Diva! When I normal summon her, I can special summon 1 Sea-Serpent monster from my deck. Come forth, Spined Gillman!” A woman resembling a mermaid with more fish-like traits appeared, and summoned a pool of water, out of which a spiky-blue fish man appeared, holding a red trident.

“Now, I’m tuning my Level 2 Diva to my Level 3 Gillman. The world's oceans will rise up and storm the very heavens. From the depths of the ocean floor their ruler appears to lead the assault! Synchro Summon! Sea Dragon Lord Gishilnodon!” As the two monsters came together, the rings and stars descended into the ground, making a pool of water. A figure rose out of the water, resembling a dragon made of water, but it froze as soon as a part of its body was not in contact with the puddle. When it was fully out, it roared, and droplets could be seen falling off of its body everywhere. “And with that, I end.”

“Alright then! My turn!” Lyn said, smiling. She drew her sixth card, and set 2 cards without a second thought. “Now, I activate the spell card Pot of Duality! I reveal the top 3 cards of my deck!” She picked up the top three, and showed them to Andrew. “I picked up Mirror Force, Monster Reborn, and Honest. I choose to keep Honest, and return the other two!” She shuffled the spell and trap back into her deck before continuing. “Next, I summon Bountiful Artemis! Then I end.” The synthetic seraphim appeared, flinging its crystal-powered wings wide, and levitating there.

Andrew drew for the turn, and activated Mystical Space Typhoon from his hand. “Now, I choose to destroy your face down in Spell Zone 3.” He waited for her to destroy it, but she just smirked. “I activate the card you chose! Magic Drain!” The counter trap card raised, and a spirit appeared behind Typhoon, making it appear to wither. “Now, either you discard a Spell Card, or your card is negated.”

Andrew shrugged. “No point in saving it, is there? Go ahead.” The spirit caused the card to shrink even more, before smacking it, and making it shatter. When the card shattered, Artemis lit up. “When a Counter Trap is activated, Artemis lets me draw 1! Also, I can special summon this card from my hand when I negate a card with a Counter Trap!”

She drew for Artemis, and the card in her hand had a dark glow as she announced its appearance. “The evil wyvern descends, dealing more judgment to where it has been wrought. Punishment upon punishment is wrought by his hand! Appear now, Van’Dalgyon the Dark Dragon Lord!” A black and red dragon, encrusted with blue gems, fell to the field, his wings high in the air.

“Now, since the I negated a Spell with Magic Drain, he inflicts 1500 damage to your life points.” In between the dragon’s wings, it charged a dark ball of electricity which it subsequently fired at Andrew. He cringed as it hit, and his life dropped to 6500.

“Could I please continue?” He asked, somewhat sarcastically, as he made his move. “Bah, I’ll set 1 monster and end my turn.” With a groan, he gave up his turn.

-------

Lilina was laying on her bed, fidgeting with a stress ball she kept on her nightstand. ”That bitch… I couldn’t even do anything. She’d just pull some bull and kill whatever I did. To top it all off, she changed from timid to strong to defend that Isaac kid. She does like him, it’s obvious. So, why would she lie… Is it that her parents really wouldn’t approve? IF I can find out, it might be some useful blackmail material.”

A knock on the door interrupted her train of thought. “Hey, Lilina!” A voice cried from the other side. “Come on out! You’ve been locked in there all day.”

“Leave me be, Leo, I’m not in the mood for your shenanigans.” She answered, giving the voice a name.

“And what has you so pissy?” Leo asked with a scowl, as he entered the room despite Lilina telling him to scram. She sighed, knowing she was not going to get rid of him, so she explained what happened with Amelia and Isaac, and that she wanted revenge.

“Seems you are just going to ignore Dash’s directive, but do you have to ignore it?” Lilina looked at the teen with a puzzled expression, so he elaborated. “Surely, you can come up with some reason to get Dash behind you? You know what, leave me to it. In the meantime, get out of here, and act positive. Dash will respond better that way.” With that, Leo left Lilina to her devices.

”Hopefully, his plan works.” Lilina thought. ”Having Dash behind me is a definite plus, and will probably make life easier in the long run. Now, to augment said plan.” She threw the stress ball aside, and strode out of her room.

-------

Lyn giggled as she drew. She was finally beating her rival. “Havin’ fun?” She taunted him. “Well, I’m gonna go now, k? I’ll set one card, and then I’ll normal summon Harvest, Angel of Wisdom!” A trumpeting noise was heard, and a gold-orange crystal-powered angel flew out of the sky, and landed next to Artemis. “Now, Van’Dalgyon attacks your Gishilnodon! And Harvest attacks your facedown!” Lyn called, before seeing two four-pronged portals appear, and devour Van’Dalgyon and Harvest.

“I activated 2 Dimensional Prisons. Your monsters are gone.” Lyn ended her turn with a huff, and Andrew drew his next card. “Future Fusion now activates, as it has been two Stand-by Phases after I activated it. Rushing waters come to a halt, frozen in the endless tundra. Two souls entering the shrine of ice emerge as a new warrior. Send all to meet the merciless, silver embrace! Fusion Summon! Elemental Hero Abslute Zero!” Three skyscrapers rose from the ground behind Andrew, with a bright light near the pinnacle of the trio. Out of it came a knight clad in white, who landed on the ground with one knee and one hand. The knight stood up, and the skyscrapers faded away.

Gishilnodon roared as Absolute Zero raised his arm to the sky. A blue energy flowed from Gishilnodon into the blade on Absolute Zero’s arm. “For every other WATER monster on the field, he gains 500 ATK. Next, I flip my monster! Defender of the Ice Barrier!”As the card flipped, a yellow dog, almost fox-like, was curled up in a ball, exposing icy-armor. Around him rose four pillars of ice to augment his defense. “Next I summon my Elemental Hero Ice Edge!” A little kid appeared to the right of Absolute Zero, looking like a younger version of the knight, but with a diamond-shaped head and a grinning, exposed face.

“Now, I’m tuning my Defender to my Ice Edge!” The lupine dog uncurled, and howled, turning into three green rings, which Ice Edge flew into, turning into 3 stars. As the two became one summoning, Gishilnodon let out a roar. “When a Level 3 or lower monster is sent to the grave, his attack becomes 3000 until the turn ends.” As the light penetrated the rings, a cliff of ice appeared behind Andrew, and a roar filled the area.

“Countless enemies suffer under the frozen reign. Slumber in his horrid sepulcher of merciful ice! Synchro Summon! Dewloren, Tiger King of the Ice Barrier!” The sound of paws hitting ice resonated, before a large blue tiger leapt off the cliff, and landed next to Absolute Zero, before the cliff sank into the ground, leaving diamond dust in the air.

“Now, Dewloren activates!” A whirlpool appeared as Dewloren roared and sucked up the diamond dust appeared. “I can return up to 2 cards on the field to my hand or Extra deck in order to increase Dewloren’s ATK by 500 for each! I am returning… Absolute Zero!” The whirlpool enveloped the knight, and threw him off to the side, where he dematerialized, leaving an icy mist, as Lyn responded.

“I chain Divine Wrath! IT may not stop your bounce, but it does kill Dewloren, simply by discarding a card!” She discarded another Harvest, before the gems on Artemis lit up. “Now, I get to draw 1 card from Artemis, because I activated a Counter trap!”

Andrew shrugged as his king was struck down. “You may draw, but now my bounced Hero activates!” The mist left by Absolute Zero whipped around, causing the wind in the area to gather around it. “When he leaves the field in any way, he destroys all your monsters! Go, Fimbulvetr!” As he named the effect, the mist was now a full-blown tornado with chunks of ice in it. It crossed the area where Artemis was, destroying the mechanized angel.

Lyn cringed as her monster was destroyed, glancing at the Honest in her hand. It had become useless without Artemis around. “Now, Gishilnodon attacks you directly!” The sea-serpent let out a growl as a wave of half-frozen water hit Lyn, reducing her life points to 5000. “And with that, I end.” Gishilnodon let out a breath, and with it, its ATK reset.

Lyn began her turn with hope to draw something to turn the tide. AS she drew, she scowled. “All I can do is set 2 cards and end.” Andrew let himself smirk as he drew his card. However, he simply attacked with Gishilnodon and ended his turn. Lyn took the damage, and began to worry as her life hit 2700. “This looks bad… If I don’t draw something soon…”

-------

The duo outside of the hall heard a groan from within. Moments later, Cerise came walking out. “I found NOTHING, so what was it I was, supposed to find in there?” Amelia began to answer the older girl’s question, but Isaac stopped her.

“You need to find it, yourself. Stop being so lazy.” The youth told his twin. “Honestly, you have to try for the things you like. W, get back in there and continue to look.” The twins’ eyes locked, glaring at one another, before Cerise leaned against one of the walls.

“Nah, I think I’ll wait until Andrew comes out, and see if he found it. I am taking a break.” She closed her eyes and sighed as she stood there. “Today’s been busy, has it not? I just feel like resting. It went from nice to hectic to hyper in a relatively short time.” Cerise pulled a soda out of her pocket and took a swig.

Isaac stared at his sister and shook his head. He knew that this was how she was, and how she always was, but he wanted her to actually try. He sighed, and gave up, not wanting any more strife. However, when a roar was heard from inside, the trio all went inside to see what was going on. ”I guess there’s a duel going on…”, Isaac figured. ”Wonder why they did that before returning, though…”

-------

Lyn drew her next card, and sighed with disappointment. She set the card, and ended her turn. Andrew’s turn began and ended in mere moments, with the only event being an attack from Gishilnodon that decreased Lyn’s life to 400. With a hope against hope, she drew her next card. ”This…”

“I set one card and end my turn!” Lyn called out, almost slamming the card into her disk, and observed her Life Points, which were only 400, and Andrew’s, whose life was still at 6500. ”If this doesn’t work, that’s it- Game.”

“Alright then, my turn.” Andrew drew his card, and played it immediately. “I activate Medallion of the Ice Barrier! I add a Caravan of the Ice Barrier to my hand with it. Then, I summon it, and activate its effect!” A green lizard-like creature appeared, weighed down by packages and other possessions from around the Ice Barrier. It let out a growl, and another izard like itself and Defender came out of the grave, and ran to towards Andrew’s disk, become cards that flew into the deck as they sped towards it. His deck shuffled, and Andrew explained. “Caravan returns two Ice Barriers from my grave to my deck, then we both draw 1.”

Both duelists drew their card. Lyn couldn’t resist a smirk as she glanced upon her ace, but it did not last long. “My Sea Dragon Lord Gishilnodon attacks you directly, once more! Good game, Ly-“ Before he could finish speaking, all the mirrors in the hall lit up like Christmas, and Gishilnodon’s attack was reflected at itself and Caravan, causing the two sea serpents to shatter with a cry of agony.

“I activated Mirror Force, destroying all ATK position monsters you controlled!” Andrew grumbled before promptly ending his turn, after complaining about being unable to do anything. Lyn drew for her turn “I summon Bountiful Artemis!” Lyn called out, but the false angel was met with an old man holding his hand out, and a strong gust of wind blowing at it.

“I activate Solemn Warning! I pay 2000 life points, and I negate your monster!” The wind began to pick up as Andrew’s life dropped to 4500, and was about to destroy the monster, when a gold coin fell into the old man’s hand, and the old man disappeared.

“I chain Dark Bribe! I negate your card, and you draw 1 card, but thanks to Artemis, I also draw!” The duo both drew one card before Lyn continued. “Now, Artemis attacks you directly!” The angel charged a blast of light, and fired it, but a portal with edges similar to a saw appeared in front of it, threatening to swallow the light whole.

“I activate Negate Attack! It ends the Battle Phase with your attack,” As with before, a gold coin fell into the portal, causing it to seal up. “And I chain another Dark Bribe, granting both of us one more.” Lyn narrated as the blast hit Andrew, reducing him to 2900 life. “And with that, I end!”

-------

“This way!” Cerise called, running another direction in the maze of mirrors. Amelia and Isaac were in tow, turning almost constantly. “I’m sure the noise came from this corridor!” The pink-haired girl would say each time they came to an intersection.

“Erm… Cerise?” Amelia eventually began, “Are you sure you have… well, any idea where we are headed? It seems like you don’t have a clue where we are going.” When met by silence, she pressed the point. “You’re lost in this maze, aren’t you?” The pink-haired girl stopped, and put a finger to her pursed lips.

“Nope!” She said, dashing off before Amelia could reply. “I know exactly where we are!” The trio continued on, with Cerise leading, sure of herself. Within the next 5 minutes, though, Cerise stopped at a three pronged path, because, at the end of it, she could see the entrance. “Umm…. Maybe I did get lost…” She said, nervously laughing. Amelia just sighed and Isaac smacked his own face.

“Let me go first.” Amelia spoke as she headed into the path that Andrew took from the start. The twins followed behind, with the group now walking rather than running.

-------

“Bah, Dark Bribe is killing me…” Andrew groaned as he drew. He lit up a bit as he looked at the turn’s gift. “I activate Miracle Fusion! I remove from play my Ice Edge and my Caravan in my grave to fuse them into Absolute Zero!” A blue spirit shaped like Ice Edge, and a red spirit shaped like Caravan shot out of the grave slot, before melding into one blue and red portal. Out of the portal came an icy wind, and ice began to stab out of the ground. Absolute Zero flew out of the portal, and landed hard, looking straight at Lyn.

“Next I summon Deep Sea Diva, and special summon another Spined Gillman from my deck!” The two sea serpents let out a battle cry, before tuning once more. “And, again, I Synchro Summon Gishilnodon!” The ice dragon appeared once more, alongside Absolute Zero. “Now, Gishilnodon attacks Artemis!” Gishilnodon roared, and an icy wave shot from its mouth, wrapping itself around Artemis like mist. But, just as the attack was going to destroy Artemis, two large angel-like wings began to glow from inside, and dispelled the attack as they spread wide.

“I discard my Honest!” Lyn explained, “And Artemis gained ATK equal to Gishilnodon’s! Now, Artemis, destroy Gishilnodon!” A ball of light charged in Artemis’s hands before it flung it at the dragon. With a screech, the creature shattered, and Andrew’s life dropped to 1300. He ended with another groan.

-------

“Oh, come on, Dash! You cannot honestly say that you don’t want a team war, can you?” Leo questioned his leader. Parco had been cold about the topic of dueling the guys who beat Lilina, at first, but seemed to react when Leo mentioned the two teams fighting each other, as a feudal battle.

“I guess you’re right. It sounds like too much fun! Just make sure that no one will be spoiling the fun with any sort of malice, and it will work. Otherwise, it is off. I’ll send Mack after them in a few, as he implied he knew where they went. And when we win, the women will be forc-“

“Lemme guess.” Leo interrupted his leader. “Wear tiny miniskirts?” Parco stared at Leo for a minute, then promptly pointed at the door. Leo laughed, and walked out, turning to his thoughts. “So, we’re in the clear with the plan, as long as we appear to be friendly.” Leo glanced at his watch and saw that it read 8:30. He almost returned to tell Parco to pick up the pace, but figured it would make him look too eager.

”And, come Monday, we will start to wreck those guys.” A sadistic smile manifested on the teen’s face. ”I’ll show them who they messed with. Sorry, Arthur, but I can’t just let your sister slide this time.”

-------

Lyn drew for her turn, and ended after setting a monster and switching Artemis to DEF. When Andrew drew, he was consumed by various plans to win it. “I summon Strategist of the Ice Barrier!” An old sage appeared on the field, holding a tao seal. “Now, I can discard 1 Ice Barrier monster to draw 1 card! So, I discard my Geomancer of the Ice Barrier, and do just that.” After he drew, he scowled, seeing his draw failed. “Fine, Absolute Zero destroys your Artemis!” The 3000 ATK hero punched Artemis, and a wave of ice covered the mechanized angel. Absolute Zero punched it again, and Artemis shattered. “Next, Strategist attacks your facedown monster!”

The old man threw a tao seal at the facedown monster, but when it flipped up, it was another Artemis. With a surge of energy fueled by its gems, in shot the seal back, inflicting 100 Damage to Andrew, making his life hit 1200. “I’ll set one card and end.” He said, pressing the button on his disk.

Lyn grinned, knowing the time had come. “It’s been fun Andrew!” She called out with a playful tone as she drew. “Now, since I have 2 Artemis, 1 Honest, and 1 Harvest in my grave, I can special summon this card from my hand! Light descends into the world, becoming a peace by oppression! The archangel spreads its wings, ending the fighting! Appear now, Archlord Krystia!” The angel shot oout of a portal next to Lyn, holding a card which it dropped into her hand. Krystia landed, one foot touching the ground, the other slightly in the air. Lyn showed the card to Andrew as she explained.

“When Krystia is summoned by its effect, I get to add 1 Fairy from my grave to my hand! Now, Krystia, attack his Strategist! Oppresive Light!” Krystia pulled its arm back, and swung it down, forming a sword made of light as it did, with which Strategist was sliced in half. Andrew’s life hit 0, and the holograms faded.

Andrew shook his head as Lyn seemed to radiate with happiness. “When’d you get that deck?” He asked, surprised. It was completely different than what she had used the last time the two had seen each other.

“Well, a friend at my school was using it, so I gave it a whirl. My version beat his!” She laughed as she remembered the duel. “I was shocked, but pleased. So, how abo-“ As she spoke, Cerise’s voice came from the hallway, loud and clear.

“LYN!” Cerise squealed, shooting past Amelia to tackle and hug her best friend. “Hi! How’s school? Met anyone?” She bombarded her younger friend with questions, which were all answered calmly. Then, she posed her big question. “Why are you in town? Not that I’m unhappy, or anything.” She said, looking sheepish.

Lyn laughed a bit, then answered. “You know that tourney at your school? Well, my school got out for it, too. Oh, and it was postponed for a week. Something about the governor, Luke Solaris, being in the capital for urgent business.”

Cerise nodded and listened to her friend, appearing to be the younger of the two, by her actions. “So, you’re here for two weeks?!” She asked, grinning like a opossum.

Lyn stared flatly at her friend and then sighed. “You never pay any attention, do you? School is out for a MONTH, not a week.” Cerise stood, speechless, and Isaac smacked his own face. When the shock wore off, Cerise seemed to radiate joy. “A MONTH AND A WEEK OF NO SCHOL AND LYN!” She was practically jumping up and down.

Isaac cleared his throat to stop his twin. “We should head back to the cars, and head to the diner, to discuss what we talked about this morning, sis, doncha think?” Cerise nodded, and grabbed Lyn’s hand, running out, leaving the other three to follow.

-------

By about 9:20, the 5 friends were approaching their cars, and noticed the same kid from earlier, that called Lilina away, standing by Isaac’s car. “Y-you guys took long enough.” Mack stuttered, walking up to Isaac. He handed him a sealed letter. “I-I’m off.” He said, turning around, but Amelia called out.

“Wait! Why are you hanging out with someone like Lilina? You always seemed so nice at school…”

Mack froze, before turning to face his classmate. “I-I’m not there for h-her. I-I am only there f-for D-Dash and L-Leo. Y-you should already know L-Leo.” Mack left quickly, avoiding the conversation anymore, leaving Amelia to wonder about the boy more.

-------

Half an hour later, the group had gotten to the diner, and were sitting at a round table. The letter lay in the middle of the table, with a picture of Parco grinning and giving a thumbs-up included.

“Well, they think we are a team, for some reason, and Isaac and I were going to ask you guys if you wanted to be a team. Seems to work out for us.” She bit her scone, and continued talking with the food in her mouth, yet it did not hinder her speech. “And Dash does not seem like a bad guy. In fact, he seems like a huge goofball.” She took a sip of her drink, and swallowed the bite. “So, what do you three want? We can enter the tournament next week, and we could call them practice.”

Without missing a beat, Andrew and Lyn agreed, but Amelia had some reservations. “Maybe Dash, himself, isn’t a bad guy, but Lilina wasn’t exactly Snow White. Is it really a good idea to do this?” She asked, looking to Isaac for his opinion.

Isaac set his drink down, and answered the teen. “I still think we should do it. What harm could come of it? It’s just a fun event for Monday through Friday. Only one per day.” He smiled at Amelia, who looked unconvinced, but nodded in agreement. “Thanks, Amelia. Glad you’re behind us, too.” He smiled warmly at his friend, before Cerise outburst.

“ALRIGHT!” She yelled, “We need a team name, and, more importantly, a leader! And That leader is clearly me!” She glowed with excitement, but Isaac stared at her, bewildered. “… What?”

“Why are you automatically the leader? I say we have a vote for who should be leader, Cerise. I don’t think that you claiming that without our consent is fine.” Cerise rolled her eyes at her brother, and his ‘fairness’.

“Fine, we’ll have your silly vote.” They went around the table, and it ended with Amelia and Isaac voting for Isaac, and the other three for Cerise. “Told you so~” Cerise said with a taunting voice. “So, it’s settled! I am the leader of the team! How does the name Team Powerforce sound?” She asked, looking to each as they nodded in agreement. With no objections, she grinned, and raised her glass. “To team Powerforce!” The others repeated what she said, and they toasted.

”... Maybe they’re right… Who knows?” Amelia thought as she drank. ”Maybe this was a good idea. … Still… I feel really odd about all of this…”

“WAKE UP!” Cerise yelled at her sleeping brother. “Today is too important for sleep! Lyn and I are already up!” She sat in the kitchen, hurriedly drinking some coffee and eating a muffin, when Isaac walked down the hall from his room, rubbing his eyes.

“What time is it…?” He groaned, rubbing his eyes. He glanced at the clock, and found it was only 7:15 in the morning. With lidded eyes, he turned to the pink haired girl, who was eating and drinking like no tomorrow. “Why in the world are you of all people up so early? I’m going back to bed.” He groaned. As he turned around, Cerise’s slipper hit his face.

“You are not going to bed!” Cerise called, shoving the rest muffin into her mouth, and swallowing it whole. “We have to register for the tourney today!” She stood up, and revealed that she was fully dressed, except for shoes. She rushed over, and grabbed her slipper, smacking him with it. “Now get dressed! Lyn’s out jogging, and since I’m up, I’m gonna see what the pros are up to, today, while YOU get dressed!” She shoved Isaac into his rooming, pulling the door shut behind him.

Cerise walked into the living room, adjacent to the kitchen, and flopped down on the couch, stretching out. She grabbed the remote, mid-stretch, and turned the television on to the Dueling Network. “And now, I use my Gate of the Dark World to banish the Infernity Avenger in my grave, then discard Broww, Hunter of Dark World, to draw 1 card! Then Broww activates, and I draw once more!” The pro on screen drew his cards, after watching the two monsters he mentioned go their ways. “Next, I summon my Celri, Monk of Dark World, but I’m just returning him, to summon Grapha, Dragon God of Dark World from my grave!” A big dragonic fiend rose out of the grave, and roared.“Then, my gate gives it 300 more attack! Destroy her facedown monster, Grapha!”

The demon slashed at the opponent’s monster, slicing the tomato. The opponent finally spoke, revealing herself. “I activate the effect of my Mystic Tomato!” Came the voice, causing Cerise to spit out some of her drink. “Since you destroyed it by battle, I get to special summon 1 DARK monster from my deck with 1500 or less attack! I choose Genex Ally Crusher!” The machine landed with a pose, staring down the beast. The man laughed, set a card, and ended.

“Isaac, get your ass out here, now!” Cerise yelled back to her brother, who came dashing out of his room, with his shirt half on. He started to ask what was going on, but the pink-haired twin just motioned at the screen. “See who it is?” She asked, rhetorically.

“I chain to your End Phase!” Jazelle called out to her opponent. “I activate the traps Call of the Haunted and Limit Reverse! I special summon Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress with Call and Sangan with Limit Reverse!” A white robed priestess-like woman and a three-eyed orange creature appeared, side by side. “Now, I draw, and first I switch Lyla to defense, to destroy your set card! Then I summon Tour Guide from the Underworld!” The girl appeared with a wink, and motioned towards a spot next to her, where a small humanoid with a bomb for a head appeared. “With her effect, I summon Bugman X! And, Tour Guide being normal summoned activates Crusher, destroying your Gate! Now, I’m overlaying my Tour Guide and Bugman!” The wind whipped around the arena as a galaxy opened in the middle of the field.

“As the Void and the Abyss tide over, the voracious creatures of the deep call out! Harvest the souls of the fallen, so that they may bring the enemy hell once more! Exceed Summon! Beat the waves below, Empty Space Sea Serpent Levaiel!” The serpentine beast rose out of the portal, two stars orbiting him. It roared, causing one of the stars to enter its mouth, and chomped down on it. Blue-green wind came out of the snake’s wings, and formed in the shape of Infernity Avenger. “By detaching one of Levaiel’s materials, I can special summon 1 banished monster! Appear now, Infernity Avenger!” The wind seemed to implode, and out of the shape came Infernity Avenger, grinning like a opossum.

“Now, I tune your Avenger to my Lyla and Sangan! Appear now, Scrap Dragon!” Out of the light came a dragon that looked more like a machine, yet appeared to be breathing. “I destroy 1 set card, and I destroy Grapha!” Scrap Dragon bit into the set card behind it, and it shattered. As the bits would have faded, they went into the wyvern’s mouth, and started to glow. “Scrap Blaze!” Jazelle called out, sending the light at Grapha, destroying it. “Now, I attack with Levaiel! Game!” The opponent’s life dropped to 0, and the screen left the duel, turning to the MC.

Isaac turned from the screen, munching on a piece of toast. “Seems she’s doing well.” He stood up as he finished his toast, and walked back towards his room. “Kinda makes me sad though that our younger cousin got there without college, yet here we are.” He closed the door to his room, and finished to get dressed.

Cerise stared at the screen, watching the duel highlights. ”She really DID manage to succeed a lot more than us… I am happy for her, just wish I was in her place.” She sighed, and stood up. “C’mon, Isaac! I’m getting the car started! Lyn said she’d meet us later!” She yelled, exiting the front door, and Isaac was not far behind.

“Hurry up, Amelia.” Arthur said to his sister as he knocked on the door to the bathroom. “I’ve got somewhere to be, as well.” He stepped back, and his sister came out, with a towel on her head.

“S-sorry, Arthur.” She said, rushing out of the bathroom, with a towel still on her head. “Just trying to get ready. Today’s a big day after all.” She took the towel down, and brushed her hair as she talked to her brother. “We’re registering for that tournament today, as Team Powerforce.” Arthur looked at her inquisitively.

“When did this happen?” He asked, staring at his younger sibling. “And why are you joining it? I though you didn’t care for the game as much as others?” He leaned against the wall outside the bathroom, waiting for her reply.

With a slight blush, Amelia stuttered. “Erm, I-I, umm…. I was c-convinced to join the team. Th-the others thought it was a good idea, a-and some other team challenged u-us to a mini-war…. T-team Umbrinous?” Arthur’s silence unnerved her. “What is it?”

He just sat there, stoic. After about a minute, he spoke. “Is that what mom and dad meant about a commotion outside yesterday?” He asked, and his sister explained the situation with Lilina to him. “I figured as much. Watch yourself. The leader, Parco, is a good guy, but the rest of the team… Just watch it.” Arthur turned into the bathroom, and shut the door behind him.

”Was…. Was my bad feeling with reason? Oh… I knew this was a bad idea… Should I tell the others? I don’t know…” Amelia thought, as she stroked her hair. ”I should just finish getting ready, for now.” She ran off, and pulled a jacket out of her closet, and applying her make-up. Within 10 minutes, she was headed for the door, right as Cerise pulled up.

-------

Andrew sat at on the porch of his parents’ home, chatting with his little sister. “So, you’re joining a team and that tourney, Andy?” Sam asked him, eyes sparkling. “That is so cool! I hope I can do something like that once I’m older!” The girl pulled out her deck, and started thumbing through it. “Oh! This is something I think you could use! It’s one of my favorites!”

Sam handed Andrew a black card with astral patterns on it. “An Xyz, huh? Well, I can make use of this one. Thanks, sis.” He smiled at the teenager as he continued. “And, who knows? You might be better than me one day.”

“Might? Please, I will be!” She said loudly, then giggled. “It’s just a matter of time, Andy! Just don’t screw up out there. Otherwise, I’ll jut be trying to pass a nobody!” She jumped out of her seat, and then off the porch. “Gotta be going, Andy! I’ll see you later!” She ran off, right as the twins Amelia arrived. ”Well, seems it’s time for me to go as well.”

-------

The group arrived at the registration office about an hour after Lyn did. “What took you so long?” She asked, sipping a drink. “I’ve been here since 8:30.” As the group started to head inside the college, a voice from nearby stopped Isaac.

“Yo, Isaac!” The boy called out to him, hopping off of a small wall nearby, before motioning for Isaac to come over to him. “You’re joining the tourney with these guys?” He sighed, and smacked his own face. “See, now Tim and Daniel need to listen to me. I told them we should ask you before the day of, but noooo, Seth’s just over thinking things.” The kid began to walk off, but turned back to Isaac when he spoke.

“What did you need to talk to me about, Seth? Did you make a team?” Isaac asked his friend from school. “And how were you going to ask me today? It’s a day off of school… And it’s a weekend!” Isaac looked at Seth, who gave him a flat stare.

“Daniel, Tim, and I formed a team. We were hoping you’d be in Team Red Dawn… But, it seems you are with your sister.” Seth shrugged. “Whatever. We’ll just have to get others to join. Daniel and Tim are inside, so, go see them while you’re there. Oh, and don’t ask me about how we were going to ask you today. THEIR plan, not mine.” He walked off, heading towards the other side of the school.

“What was that about?” Cerise asked her twin, but he just shrugged, and explained that his friends from his history class wanted him to join a team. “Well, we got you first, don’t go getting any ideas!”

-------

After waiting in line for about half an hour, Cerise was the first of the group to reach the front of the line. The blonde woman behind the desk pulled out a form, and looked at the pink-haired girl over her glasses. “Here to form a new team?” She asked, almost monotone. When Cerise nodded, the woman checked a box. “Names?”

“Cerise Adams, Isaac Adams, Amelia Loman, Lyn Rouge, and Andrew Lykos.” Cerise smiled at the woman who wrote down their names as she pointed, and asked for a team name. “We’re Team Powerforce!” The girl called out, excitedly. Andrew and Isaac laughed as she blushed, while Lyn just smiled, and Amelia seemed embarrassed.

“I asked for your team’s name, miss Adams, not for everyone to hear it. Now, I assume you’re the leader.” Cerise nodded once more, and the woman signed, then stamped the form. “Here you go. Take this to the other table, and you’re all checked in.” They each thanked the desk worker, and Cerise called them to the side.

“Alright, we’ll each go our own ways. Lyn, you go and check the entered contestants. Andrew, go buy some lunch. Amelia, go find out if anyone knows anything about Team Umbrinous. Isaac, go meet up with those friends of yours, and learn about them. Meanwhile, I’ll get us finished checking in. Alright, move out!” She called out, smiling. Each person headed their own way to get to their duties, before the facility closed for the day.

Lyn walked away from the group, and straight back to the attendant they had just registered with. “Excuse me,” she began, “Could I get some general info on the other teams that have entered?” The woman nodded with a smile, and explained that, if Lyn waited an hour, she’d have the full competitors list. “Thank you very much!” Lyn said, smiling. “I’ll be waiting until then.”

-------

Isaac turned from the others, and had not walked 10 yards when he was tackled and hugged. “Isaac!” Daniel exclaimed, grinning wide as he hugged his friend. “I was just looking for you! Did Seth talk to you, yet?” When Isaac explained the situation, Daniel backed off, and huffed folding his arms. “Seems Plan B is in order. C’mon, we might as well talk.”

“So, what’s plan B?” Isaac asked his friend. “Well, it’s to recruit our friend, Marcoh, to our team. You were our first choice, as Plan B suggests, but he works fine, too. He said he’d be waiting by the other entrance to the school when I talked to him this morning, so let’s go.”

-------

Amelia walked towards a man standing to the side, whose ears had perked when he heard Cerise mention Team Umbrinous. He was wearing a hoodie that only allowed his mouth and nose to be seen. When she turned towards him, he motioned towards a bench sitting by a window, and shot that way. Looking around, Amelia noticed it was an open area, well within sight should something happen, so she decided it was fine.
She sat down next to him on the bench, and he handed her a manila envelope he produced from inside his hoodie. envelope. “This has all sorts of info on Team Umbrinous in it. Use it wisely.” He pressed it into her hands, before pulling out a pocket watch. He clucked his tongue. “Running low on time. Good luck in this tournament. I’m hoping Team Powerforce wins it all.”

The man started to get up and walk away, but Amelia asked, “How did you know our team was Team Powerforce? And why do you have info on Team Umbrinous.” The man froze, and stayed still for a second, before speaking without facing her.

“Your friend screamed out the name of your team, remember? Wild girl, it seems. As for Team Umbrinous… Well, let’s say I have reasons for them not to win, and I know they have a bone to pick with your group. Seems to work out perfectly for me.” As he tried to walk off, once more, Amelia asked for his name. “Call me… Salem. I’ll be in touch.”

He waved without looking, and rounded a corner. Amelia shot to catch up to him, but he was gone by the time she got to where he had been. ”Well, that was odd…” Amelia thought to herself, looking at the envelope in her hands. ”Should I… trust it?”” She returned to the bench, and sat, staring at the envelope. She opened it up, and tried to find any info that would prove if it was legitimate or not.

As she pulled out the section on Lilina, it listed her deck, general strategy, and more. ”It’s all spot on…” The blue haired girl thought. ”That is exactly what her deck was. I guess this means… It’s legitimate…”. She sat for awhile, waiting for time to tick by.

-------

Daniel walked out the side doors of the college, with Isaac in tow. “He should be right about…. Here.” Daniel said, stopping under a random tree. “He said he’d be right here, so I wo-“ Isaac was shocked to see Marcoh fall out of the tree, onto Daniel’s head.

“Yo!” Marcoh called out, holding one hand up, palm towards Isaac. “How’s it goin’, Isaac?” Marcoh stood, and hopped off of Daniel, acting as if he had landed on the ground. “So, are you gonna join Daniel’s team, too?” He asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Nah, I got my own team. Sorry ‘bout that.” Isaac gave a slight, nervous chuckle, and noticed Marcoh looked disappointed. “Oh, cheer up.” He ruffled the shorter boy’s hair with a laugh. “I’ll still be hanging out with you guys, just not as often.”

Daniel picked himself up with a groan, and Marcoh shot over to him “Glad to see you up, sunshine!” He said with a laugh. “Now, you ready? I’m only going to join your team if you beat me in a duel.” He walked a few steps away, turned around, and activated his disk.

Daniel sighed. “Looks like I have no choice. What a drag.” Daniel activated his disk as well, and the two called out “Duel!” simultaneously. Daniel drew first, and the duel rocketed. “I summon my Black Cloack – Karasu (1800)!” A man draped in black garments, and holding a long knife, with the blade away from him, appeared n the field, keeping his face low. “Then, I set 2 cards, and I end my turn!”

Marcoh drew his sixth card, and gave a big grin. “Alright!” He called out, and slammed a card onto the disk. “I activate the continuous spell, Code A Ancient Ruins!” Behind Marcoh, a stone gateway rose up, with the doors wide open. The stones oozed with a goo, and the inside of the ruins appeared to be a databank, led up to by a small pathway over swirling blue energy. The energy seemed to fuel the data bank, and floating blue blocks.

Marcoh suddenly pulled out a pair of shades, and put them on. He paused momentarily, before pointing at Daniel, and going “Yeeeeaaaaaaahhhhh!” The glasses disappeared, and Marcoh continued. “Next, I summon my Alien Kid (1600)! And, since I normal summoned an Alien, I also summon Alien Dog (1500)!” A green-reptilian child jumped up, holding a yellow gun, and a blue reptilian-dog ran up, making an odd barking noise. As it pulled up next to the child, it barked two more times, and 2 purple, fleshy blobs appeared, and attached to Karasu.

“When Alien Dog is summoned, he places 2 A-Counters on one monster you control! But, don’t worry! The counters are leaving!” The two creatures shriveled up, and a red alien appeared on Marcoh’s field. It growled, and its chest appeared to be similar to a cannon. It had long, thin arms, and it had black where other aliens had white.

“I remove them to summon Alien Overlord (2200)!” The monster roared, and another blob shot out of its chest, and attached to Karasu. “Once per turn, I can put 1 A-counter on each monster you control! Now, let’s go!” Alien Overlord charged a blast in its chest cavity, and fired at Karasu. The assassin’s ATK fell 600 points as the blast came into contact. “Thanks to Overlord and Kid’s effects, your monsters with an A-Counter lose 300 per A-counter! Since I control Overlord and Kid, it counts twice!”

Daniel’s life points dropped to 7000, then a shot from Kid and a bite from Dog, his life was 3900, and Marcoh ended after setting 1 card. Daniel looked at his draw, and contemplated his next play. “Alright, I summon my Green Cloak – Kyo (1200)!” A red-haired boy with a green shirt appeared, and slammed an orange skateboard down. He put one foot on it, and one on the ground, and grinned towards Marcoh.

“Next, I activate the spell card Double Summon! I now summon my Purple Cloak – Kuran (1600)!” A man with purple skin and garb appeared next to Kyo, his beard flapping in the wind. “When he is summoned, I can draw 1 card!” Daniel drew, and continued “Now, I activate my other set card, Raigeki Break! I discard Gold Cloak – Kamizuke, and I destroy your Alien Kid!”

Lightning shot from the trap, and shocked the child until it shattered. Daniel did not realize, but one of the blobs materialized on the data bank in the ruins. “Now, I tune my Lv. 3 Kyo to my Lv. 4 Kuran! Synchro Summon! Green and Purple Cloak – Kimiko (2400)!” a woman in duel-colored garb materialized out of the summon’s light. She looked unsure of herself as Daniel ordered her to attack Overlord.

The red reptile roared in pain as it shattered, and Marcoh’s life points fell to 7800. “With that, I end my turn.” Marcoh’s turn began and he switched his Dog to DEF position, activated Swords of Revealing Light, and ended. “Bland turn.” Daniel said flatly. With his draw, Daniel set another card. “Seems my turn is bland as well. I end.”

Marcoh drew, and uproarious laughter erupted from him. “Oh, too perfect!” He called out. “I summon Alien Ammonite (300)!” The alien fossil appeared with a screech, and a blue orb appeared next to it. “When Ammonite is summoned, he can revive 1 Lv. 4 or lower Alien from my grave! I choose Alien Kid!” The orb turned green, and shattered, revealing the offspring of the aliens.

“Now, I’m tuning my Lv. 1 Ammonite to my Lv. 4 Kid!” Ammonite screeched, and became a tuning circle, which Kid flew into. “A lone ring of evolution, carries the hope to resurrection. The Deep One still keeps its ancient memories, and it shall wait no more! Ascend from the bottom of the grand abyss! Synchro Summon! Surface, Cosmic Fortress Gol'gar (2600)!”

The light filled the ring, widening beyond it, but the light faded with nothing left. Daniel began to speak, but was cut off when goo started to fill the area behind Code A Ancient Ruins. It scooped Marcoh up, and pushed him up, as it formed into the giant form of Gol’gar. “Pretty nice, huh?” Marcoh asked, grinning, now standing on the beast’s head. “Badass MAX!” Gol’gar glowed for a split second, and the swords surrounding Daniel returned to the card, and returned to Marcoh’s hand.

“Once per turn, I can return face-up Spell and/or Trap cards to my hand, to distribute A-counters. Since I returned one, I get to place 1 counter!” A blob appeared on Kimiko’s head, and the monster squealed. “Sadly, Gol’gar’s NOT an Alien, and Dog has no effect. Oh well.” He shrugged and grinned, before slamming a card down. The luminous swords appeared around Daniel once more. “Still get to recycle. Now, Gol’gar, destroy his monster!”

Gol’gar reached down into the ruins, and scooped up one of the A-Counters, and reachd another to pluck the counter off of Kimiko. It shoved both of the blobs into its mouth, and swallowed, before shooting a laser from its mouth at Kimiko. The woman exploded, leaving Daniel open. “Now, Gol’gar, attack him!”

As the fortress shot a beam from its eyes, a circular, clear shield appeared around Daniel. It refracted the beam back to Gol’gar and Dog, causing them to shatter simultaneously. “I activated Mirror Force! Your attack is bounced back, killing all your attack position monsters!”

Marcoh fell from his spot in the sky, calling out “ZETSUBOU MAX!” He stood up with a groan, and watched the A-counter crawl out of the ruins, making 2. “Well, at least there’s that…” He grumbled, before he saw a lightning bolt strike through the area, and hit each of the swords around Daniel. A tornado appeared, and enveloped the sword, snapping them in half.

“I activated my set Mystical Space Typhoon! Say goodbye to your swords!” Marcoh mumbled under his breath in Spanish, causing Daniel to laugh. “Mala Suerte, indeed!” Marcoh ended, and Daniel took his turn. “First, I activate the spell card, Monster Reborn! Return to me, Kimiko!” The dual garbed woman rose from the grave, looking scared. “Now, I activate the spell card, Cloak Divest! When I use this card, I can select 1 Cloak monster I control! It can attack twice this turn! She just dies at the end of the turn, in exchange.”

Kimiko seemed to gain confidence, and threw her cloak off, leaving her in a leotard. She leaped forward, and kicked Marcoh twice, causing his life to fall to 3000. Daniel ended, and the woman exploded by the drawback. Marcoh scowled, and drew. He ended, being unable to do anything. His opponent took his turn, and discarded the card he had just drawn.

“I activate the last effect of Cloak Divest! If the monster is still in the grave during my next Standby phase, I can discard 1 Cloak to summon it! Return once more, Kimiko!” The woman appeared, unsure again. “Now, I attack with Kimiko!” The woman kicked Marcoh, but not as hard as before. His life fell to 600.

“Well then, Daniel, this draw decides it!” Marcoh drew with a grin, and looked at the card he drew. ”Alien Overlord! With my set Brainwashing Beam, this is good game… But…” Marcoh frowned at his card, and ended his turn. “PUTA!” He cried out, and Daniel lit up. ”Eeeh, the team will be fun. At least I know them.”. He deactivated his disk, and walked over to Daniel. “Alright, you won! So, now I have to be a part of your team?”

Daniel nodded. “Yup. But you agreed to that, so don’t blame me for having to join!” Marcoh grumbled “Estupido hijo de….” To Daniel, who laughed. “So, Isaac, you… Where’d he go?” Daniel asked the other duelist, who shrugged. “Guess he had to go. We really got way too caught up…”

-------

Isaac dashed towards the cafeteria. Cerise had texted them all to get there soon, for some reason or another. ”If I know my sister…” Isaac thought, and burst through the cafeteria doors to see his sister sitting with Andrew, eating. ”Go figure.”

“Isaac! How’d the meeting with Red Dawn go?” She asked, slurping some noodles out of her cup. Her brother sighed, regretting leaving mid-duel. He sat next to Andrew, and told them about the duel. “Oh? And you didn’t stay for the result?!”

Isaac shrugged her off, and grabbed his food. “I’ll pay you back later.” He mumbled. Within a few minutes, the other 2 members were there, and the team was seated around a table once more. The contents of the packet Amelia had received, and the team list Lyn had gotten, were strewn across the table, allowing the team to study as they ate. “So, Amelia” Isaac began, looking at the packet. “Did you get a name from the guy who gave you this?”

“He said to call him Salem, and that he’d be in touch… not sure how…” She said, seemingly wondering about what the man had meant. “I didn’t give him a number or anything, he just seemed to know our team was the one he wanted to talk to about Team Umbrinous…” She stared at one of the sheets in front of her, studying Mack O’Malley’s info. ”Is this really him?” she questioned.

“Well, we also have much less detailed info on the other teams in the tourney.” Lyn began. “There are 32 teams in this tournament. The teams that seem to be favorites to win it all are Umbrinous, Caliber, and Genesis. Seems Caliber is led by Victor Aero, a senior from a college in another state, who is their champ, and Genesis is led by none other than the pro, Jazelle Murasaki!”

Both Cerise and Isaac began to choke on their drinks as they heard their cousin’s name. “Jazzy’s in this?” Cerise asked nervously, to which Lyn nodded. “Greeeeeaaat. We have to beat a pro who just happens to be related to us…” Cerise groaned. She took the sheet from her friend, and looked it over, sighing. “Just… Wonderful.” She rolled her eyes.

“Just relax.” Isaac said as he looked over another paper. “In other news, it seems Team Red Dawn is voted least likely to win the tourney, and that most of them refuse to do chants… TAAAAIIIIYYYOOOUUU!!!!!” Isaac’s antics got the group laughing, before Cerise spoke up.

“Alright, guys, we’ve done what we needed here, except deciding who would be against who. Here’s what I think: Amelia vs. Mack, as his deck seems to spam higher level cards via lower leveled ones. Parco vs. Myself, as we are the leaders. Lyn vs. Leo, because he seems to spam in general, and Lyn’s traps will help. Isaac vs. Lilina, obvious reasons, and that leaves Andrew vs. Finn. Anyone have any questions?”

The team nodded one at a time, around the table. “Alright then!” Lyn called out, excitedly. “Let’s go relax or something! I mean, really, it’s all serious business and drama so far! I want a carefree day at the beach or something. Wanna come, Cerise?”

“Of course!” She tossed all her papers at Isaac as she stood up. “Take care of all that, little bro. Thanks!” Cerise was gone in a heartbeat, leaving Lyn behind, who grinned with a bit of embarrassment.

“You all know how she is, ehehe…” She laughed. “So, uh, anyone else wanna come along? Andrew?” The white-haired boy shrugged.

“Why not? Just need to drop by my house to grab swimwear. Besides, I haven’t been to the beach itself in forever.” He stood up, and walked out as Lyn offered the remaining two a chance. “Amelia? Isaac?”

“I’m not really n the mood for the beach. Thanks, though, Lyn.” Amelia said with a smile, and Isaac nodded in agreement.

“Besides,” Isaac added in, “Someone has to drive our car back to the house. And we’ll clean up this… chaos.” He looked at the table and sighed. “You guys go one, we’ll be fine here.” Lyn was gone in moments, following her other friends. “Sorry about roping you in to help me clean.”

“It’s fine, Isaac.” Amelia said. “I’d rather help out here than go to the beach anyeays.” Isaac simply asked “Why’s that?”, but it got her to stutter. “W-well, I j-just am not that fond of the beach.” Immediately, she started berating herself. ”I DO like the beach… Why would I say that?”

“Huh, I’d figure you’d love it…” Isaac mused as he stacked some papers. “Well, at least I get a chance to thank you in private. If only…” He took a deep breath. “Thanks again, Amy. I really appreciate what you did with Lilina.” He said, never looking her in the eye. “It meant a lot to me.”

“Of course. We’re friends, right?” She asked, giving him a quick hug. She immediately regretted her decision, and turned blood red. ”God, that was so stupid! What was I thinking?! I’m never gonna get this right…” she groaned mentally, never taking note of the same blush on Isaac’s face. “W-well, we should be headed back, unless you want to do something.” Amelia murmured, still avoiding looking at him.

“Why don’t we go play Miniature Golf? It’s cheap.”

-------

“Agh, dammit Andreeeeew!” Cerise yelled as she fell of her friend’s shoulders, into the salt water. She came up sputtering, and spewing obscenities. “The fraking water got in my eyes!” She yelled, rubbing her eyes.

“That’s what you get for randomly hopping on my shoulders.” Andrew chuckled while Lyn lay on the beach, laughing hard as she sunbathed. “I mean, really. Do I look like a football player, Cerise? I’m a band geek.”

“I’ll show you a football player!” Cerise called out, as she jumped on Andrew, and began to push down on his head, playfully. “How’s the water today, Andrew? I wanna make sure I’m not the only one with salty eyes!”

Andrew rolled her over, and began to gain advantage, but it ended up with the two wrestling in the shallows. Up on the shore, Lyn sat, recording them with her cell phone, and smiling like a possum eating a sweet potato. “This is definitely going onto Youtube.”

-------

“Fore!” Isaac called out jokingly as he lightly hit his golfball. It completely missed the hole, and ended up in the worst spot possible. “How in the world did…” Isaac stared at the ball, and scratched his head. “Let’s try this again…” He hit the ball again, and somehow had the ball end up closer to start than the hole. He ended up taking 5 hits, on the first hole. “This game is rig-“

Before Isaac could finish his statement, Amelia hit her ball, and made it into the hole with a single putt. She began to laugh, and looked at Isaac. “Is it really rigged?” She asked with a tear on the side of her eye, from laughter.

“How did you… No, that was a fluke. I don’t believe that could happen again. Let’s just carry on through the course.”

-------

The sun set on the ocean’s horizon as the trio at the beach sat on a blanket, staring out. “It’s beautiful… I missed it.” Lyn admired the majesty of the scene, completely awestruck. “I wish life was always like this. A fun day at the beach, followed by this sight.” She laid back on the blanket, and sighed.

“Who knows? Maybe it can be, one day.” Cerise laid back with her friend, and stared up at the sky. “Maybe we can make a brighter tomorrow. I’d certainly enjoy this forever.” She grabbed a Pepsi from beside her, and took a sip, before laying down once more. “Wouldn’t you agree, Andrew?”

“Seems nice to me.” He stated. “I mean, who doesn’t like this? Well, except cats. They hate water.” The girls laughed. “What? Kitties hate water!” He said in a higher pitched voice, causing the girls to laugh even harder. “Well, speaking of kitties, it’s about time I got home. Sis got a kitten, so…”

“Awwwww, how cute!” Lyn beamed. “Can I see her?” The white-haired boy nodded, and got a squeal out of his younger friend. “Nice! Well then, let’s go!” Lyn helped Andrew get up, and gave him a hug. “Thanks.” Moments later, she was dragging Cerise off of the blanket, as she had fallen asleep in her short talk with Andrew.

“Lemme go to shleep…” Cerise spoke, eyes closed.

-------

At the 18th hole, Amelia took her last shot. She had gotten an eagle on the whole course, and Isaac was tempted to rip up the sheet. “Oh, come on, silly!” She laughed at her friend. “So I’m better at puttputt! It’s not the end of the world.”

“True…” Isaac groaned. “Still it’s kinda… I dunno, it just feels weird.”

“I know, right? I’m actually good at something!” Amelia said with a false smile.

“… Amy, you know you have talents. Don’t be like that.”

“Like what, Isaac?” She asked, cocking her head to the side. “Oh, look, it’s sundown. Let’s go, I was supposed to be home before dark. Oh, and I really like the nickname Amy. Thanks”

“Sure… Hey, Amy, I really had fun today.” He gave the girl a hug like she gave him earlier, and they both turned red like tomatoes, again. “Just wanted to tell you that.” He said, backing off nervously. He coughed. “So, uh, let’s go.”

-------

“So, how’d your date with Amelia go?” Cerise asked her brother that night, causing him to spit his toothpaste all over his bathroom’s mirror.

“What date? We just played puttputt while you guys went to the beach…” He continued to brush his teeth, and tried to drown out his sister.

“Riiiight. And I’m a yellow, moronic, figment of your imagination that likes chocolate milk, and is named Cheese.” She chuckled, and walked away from his room. “Just get read, Isaac, and relax. Both for tomorrow, and for… Hehehe… Well, you know.”

20 minutes later, all the lights were out, and Isaac’s eyes shut, opening into a world inside his dreams.

Day 1: Monday

The woman laughed at the man as he stood up. “Come now, you know the last fight we had, you were bedridden.” The man did not reply, simply moved his staff from his left hand to his right.

“Doesn’t matter the outcome of our last bout.” He said. “I’ll win this time, because I have to.”

More mocking laughter came from his opponent’s mouth. “Please, don’t make me laugh. If you’re so eager to die, just come at me.” She began to chant something, and, a few seconds later, a priest appeared in front of her, with tan skin and facial markings. “Take your start.” She grinned.

The man chanted as she did, summoning a human-faced demon, with off-white horns and red-black skin. “Fine. Let’s go!” The fiend shot forward, claws pulled back to strike.

-------

Isaac woke up with a start, sweating. ”What… What was that dream?”, he wondered, a sense of the tension still near him. It felt so… Real.” He looked at the hand that had been holding the staff in his dream, and opened and closed it. ”I… I… Maybe I’m just nervous…” he figured, standing up. ”It’s probably nothing.”

Isaac hopped out of his bed, and took a shower, his thoughts slowly drifting from the dream. After getting dressed, he stepped into the kitchen. “Mornin’.” Cerise said, causing her brother to jump.

“Lord, don’t do that!” He snapped at his now laughing sister, as she sat on the couch. “How was I supposed to know a Snorlax was up at 8 in the morning?!” As soon as the words left his lips, he saw the slipper coming. It hit him before he could duck, as it always did.

“I’m not a Snorlax!” His sister yelled. “I’m a girl, and I need my beauty sleep!”

“… What about Lyn, then? Early to bed, early to rise.” Cerise glared at her brother, before rising from the couch, and grabbing a purse from a table near the door.

“Just grab some toast. Lyn went to pick up the other two. According to Parco’s letter, we’re supposed to do the first round at the pier, at 9’o’clock. I was about to have to wake you up, or we’d be late. How’s that for a Snorlax?”

-------

“Well, you’re up first, Amelia.” Andrew sat next to her on the bench, as she looked through her deck one last time. “You sure you’re ready?” The blue-haired girl nodded, but looked less than confident. “Come on now, you can do it. You beat Lilina just fine.” The girl continued to look down at her deck, her hands trembling slightly.

“I don’t know, Andy…” She said shakily. “I-I mean… I can’t duel. I’m no good at this… I don’t even know why I agreed…” Andrew put his right arm around her as she spoke. “I’m no good at this… Much less anything…”

“Oh, you’re good at something. And you’re good at dueling, too, so why do you think otherwise?” She sat quietly, not responding. “You’re not. You’re the nicest person in our group, and you always stand up when you need to. I’m sure there’s something for you.”

The girl muttered an “I guess”, and buried herself in working with her deck. She looked at two black cards in particular, and closed her eyes. ”C’mon… Please let me do well… I don’t want to let everyone down…” Steelswarm Roach was placed back into the deck and then the other card.

-------

“Let’s see…” Lyn mused as she looked at some of the cards on display in a shop. “I’m sure there’s something I can get to help out everyone. Oooh, these look nice.” Lyn said, picking up a set of three monsters. “These look perfect for… Well, I guess I’ll take them!” She picked them up and moved to the next case, picking up more cards as she went.

“Oooh, this looks nice for Cerise!” She said, beaming at a white card on the case, scooping it up. “Ah, this looks nice for Andrew! And this for Isaac! Hey… There’s even something for me!” She took the cards to the counter, to purchase them, and a man with golden blonde hair and clear blue eyes smiled.

“Hi there. Ready to check out?” He asked warmly, and Lyn handed him the cards. “Pretty expensive cards…” He mused, looking at the full set. “Say, are you in that tourney coming up?” When Lyn nodded, he typed into the register, and hit the button to print a receipt. “That’ll be a hundred bucks.”

“… That’s it?” Lyn asked, surprised, having set aside a much larger budget for this. She handed him the money, and took the cards, bewildered.

“Yup. I love to see up an coming duelists do well, and it takes both skill and good cards, so, we’ll call it even at one hundred. Besides, I don’t get out of the shop much, anyways, as you could probably tell by my skin.” He laughed, and Lyn joined in.

“Well, thanks so much!” She said, grinning. “I really was hoping I could afford all the cards I chose.”

He smiled, and waved her off, smiling like a fool. “I’ll be rooting when I see you on the television!” He called as she left the small shop, and turned to the side. “Team Powerforce needs to win this.” He said aloud, looking at a hoodie in the storage room. “There was no way a college girl could have paid the bill on those cards, anyways.”

He pulled his pocket watch out, and popped it open, watching it tick. “Tick tock, time is almost up. Team Powerforce or Umbrinous, who will win?” He snapped it shut, and put it into his pocket once more. “I’m hoping Powerforce will win. Otherwise…”

-------

At 9, the group stood at the pier, waiting on their opponents. “You can do it, Amelia.” Isaac said, putting his hand on the girl’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, I know you can.” She gulped and nodded, looking at the ground. He walked away, and Cerise came up to the girl, and hugged her.

“You can do it, Amelia! Set us off on the right foot!” The girl tensed up a bit, the pressure more evident than before, not that she told her friend. She nodded, and the girl was replaced by Lyn.

Lyn told her the same as Isaac, and then switched with Andrew. “Remember everything I told you. You can do this. Alright?” She nodded, and he squeezed her shoulder.

Across from Amelia, Mack stood, without any of his team there, except for Dash, who was doing a pose of ‘Manly Victory’ with his shirt off. He was surprisingly well-toned considering he spent a lot of time locked up indoors. “Now, Mack, follow my lead!” He flexed his muscles, and the smaller teen just stared at him.

“Are you going to yell at me like that again if I don’t?” The moment Dash nodded, Mack’s shirt was also gone, and he was following his leader’s example. Tears started flowing down Dash’s face for no reason, and he spoke.

“Win for your team, young man! You can do it!” He said, and proceeded to give a hammy speech, which was followed by Mack activating his disk. “Let’s get ready to rumble!” Dash yelled, shirt suspiciously present once more. Amelia gulped, and Andrew patted her on the back as she activated. The two announced the duel, and Amelia took the first turn.

“I summon Goblindbergh (1400)! When this card is normal summoned, I can special summon 1 Level 4 or lower monster from my hand! I choose Green Gadget (1400)!” The machine’s gears began to go, and a Red Gadget was added to Amelia’s hand. “Now, I’m overlaying my Gadget and Goblin! The cogs of fate call out into the universe! Calls for help beyond what is normally capable! In exchange for their power, the alien insects lend their aid! Xyz Summon! Hold your opponents at bay, Steelswarm Roach!”

The ground opened up into a galaxy-like vortex between the two players, and the energies of the two monsters went into the hole. With an eruption of energy, the foreign bug knight appeared on her field, holding his blade in front of him as two stars orbited him. He flexed his wings, but no other part of him moved. “I’ll set two cards, and end my turn.”

Mack drew a card, and looked over his hand quickly. He set a monster and a spell or trap, and ended, causing Amelia to wonder what his plan was. “Alright, I’ll go again.” She announced. “I summon Red Gadget (1300), and get my Yellow Gadget!” The red gears spun wildly, and the new gadget appeared as Amelia went on.

“Next, I activate my set Ultimate Offering! I pay 500 LP, and I normal summon the Yellow Gadget (1100) I just added, and get another Green!” Her life fell to 7500 as the yellow spinning gears started up. “Now, I overlay my two Gadgets! Appear, Number 39: Utopia!” A portal opened up, as with Roach, and the process repeated, but this time, a knight flew out of the whole, clad in strange armor, with two sabers.

He spread his wings, and drew his swords throwing his arms wide with a call of “HOPE!” He landed next to Roach, and Amelia repeated the process of summoning and Xyz summoning, also bringing out Evigishki Merrowgeist (2100) and Gem-Knight Pearl (2600), leaving Amelia with 5500 LP and adding a Red Gadget. 4 Xyz stared down Mack, but he stood stoically as his leader behind him did the same, pulling a 180.

“Now, Roach, attack his monster!” The beast roared, and struck the card, flipping it up. A bark filled the air, and a white dog sat before the Xyz’ weapon, before it was cut. A light shot out of the fading hunter, and shattered Ultimate Offering.

“My monster was Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter.” Mack said flatly. “When flipped, he destroys one card you control, and sends the top 3 cards of my deck to the grave.” Three cards, Destiny Hero - Malicious, another Ryko, and Mystic Tomato, were placed in Mack’s grave, and Utopia shot forward, aiming to slice. “I chain Treacherous Trap Hole. As long as I have no Traps in Grave, I can destroy 2 monsters. I choose Roach and Utopia.”

The opposite knights roared in pain as they were destroyed by Mack’s trap, and Amelia cringed. ”I-I can’t do this…” the thoughts began. Pearl kicked Mack, making his life fall to 5400, but a card in his hand lit up as he was hit. “I activate Gorz, the Emissary of Darkness. Since I took damage while I controlled no cards, I can special summon him. And, I get to summon a token with damage equal to the damage Pearl hit me for.” Gorz landed with 2700 ATK, and a 2600 token next to it.

Amelia cringed more, and ended, then Mack drew. A card in his hand gleamed. “I activate Gallis the Star Beast. By sending the top card of my deck to the grave, if it is a monster, I can deal damage to you equal to its attack times 200 and special summon Gallis.” Mack drew one card, and showed it. “Battle Fader. You take 200 Damage.”

As Amelia’s life hit 2300, the roaring beast appeared, then disappeared. “I tribute it, and summon Caius the Shadow Monarch. I remove from play your Pearl.” The humanoid gem was hit with a tiny dark ball in the center of his chest, but it immediately opened up wide, and consumed him, before condensing into nothing.

“Let’s go.” Merrowgeist was attacked by Gorz, but hit a shield instead. A shield was in Merrow’s left hand, blocking the blade, as light formed a bubble around the area. Amelia’s life rose to 8200, as she announced “I activated Draining Shield! Your attack is negated, and I gain life equal to the attack of your monster!” She sighed, but a second later the token sliced through Merrow, and Caius shot her with Dark Shadow Ball, and her life was lower than ever at 5200. “Tsk, thought that would be it. Oh well.” Mack said and ended.

“Come on…” Amelia breathed quietly. She drew her card, but, before she looked at it, she heard Isaac.

“Come on Amy, you can pull through!”

She smiled, back to Isaac, and looked at the card she drew, widening her eyes. “Alright, it’s time! I activate Monster Reborn and revive my Green Gadget, and add nothing! Then, I summon that Red from my hand, and add a Yellow!. Finally, I activate Double Summon, and summon my Yellow Gadget I just added, and add nothing!” The tri-colored gadgets stared ahead at Gorz, Caius, and the Token.

“Now, I am overlaying all three monsters!” The portal opened up once more, and 3 bright streaks, one green, one yellow, and one red, shot into the hole. “The cogs of destiny cry out into the beyond, begging for a saving light! For three warriors, the divine mechanizations send their vanguard! Xyz Summon! Defeat the imminent threat, Vylon Disigma (2500)!” The mechanical Angel rose out of the ground, appearing as a block before opening up. The fairy spread its arms, as three stars orbited it. “Now, I remove my Red Gadget!”

One of the stars flew into Disgima’s jewel. Immediately lighting up, its arms seemed to especially brighten, and it shot over to Gorz. “Shining Embrace!” The angel hugged Gorz, and the warrior-fiend cried out in pain, as it turned into a black jewel, and was embedded onto Disigma’s jewel.

“By removing a material, I can equip one of your face-up effect monsters to Disigma, once per turn! And there’s more!” Disigma shot forward, and pulled a claw back to strike Caius, but purple light coursed through Disigma’s arm from the jewel of Gorz, and shot at Caius, shattering the monster. “It destroys any monster with an attribute that is the same as a card equipped to it, when it battles a monster!”

Amelia set one card, and ended, her monster sitting in front of her. Mack took his turn, with Dash yelling at him in an inspirational manner, not that he noticed. “I activate another Gallis. I reveal Chaos Sorcerer, who is level 6. Lose 1200.” Her life fell to 4000, and Gallis appeared once more. “Now, I activate Genex Ally Birdman (1400) in my hand, and return Gallis to my hand to special Summon him.”

A harpie-esque machine darted about, blowing Gallis’s card back to the hand. “I activate Gallis again, and send Tragoedia, Level 10. You lose 2000.” Her life became 2000 as the same Star Beast was summoned. “Now, I summon Plaguespreader Zombie, and tune it with my Gallis, to form Ally of Justice Catastor (2200).” A mechanized creature appeared on the field, and stared down Disigma.

“Next, I remove Malicious in my grave from play to summon a Malicious (800) from my deck. Then, I place one card in my hand on top of my deck, and special summon Plaguespreader from my grave. Now, I tune them into Thought Ruler Archfiend (2700).” The 6 stars lined up in the 2 rings, then light shot through. A bony monster came out, with green all over it, and yellow claws. It roared as it stared at Disigma.

“Now, my token destroys your Disig-“ Before the token’s attack landed, a crystal shield appeared in front of the token’s blade, and the token shattered, blade first. In the mirror’s image, a saber was shown, and both Catastor, Thought Ruler, and Birdman appeared to be sliced in half as they exploded. “Mirror Force… Heh.” He said, seeing Amelia move the card. “I’m done.

Amelia sighed and drew. ”I-i-i-i-i-I can win!” She thought at the card, more than the turn before. “I summon Scrap Recycler (900)!” A hunk of junk parts put together appeared on the field, seeming to twitch about. “I send another Scrap Recycler to my grave by his effect. Next, I activate my Recycler, and return 1 Red and 1 Green Gadget to my deck, and then draw 1. Let’s go-“

She sat, open mouthed at her draw. “When did this get in here…” She wondered out loud, as Andrew smirked in the background. “This is… perfect. It’s been fun, Mack, but good game! I activate the spell card, Connected Attack of the Demon God!” The Spell rose up, and arms appeared behind Disigma, and grabbed the stars orbiting the monster.

“I can remove the materials on Disigma to allow it to attack twice this turn!” She announced as the hands smashed the two stars together, into a chartreuse gem, which joined the black gem on Disigma. “Now, Disigma, Recycler, finish him off!” With the three strikes, Mack’s life hit zero, and he just stared, with a gaping Dash behind him.

The illusions faded as the disks were deactivated, and Dash put his hand on Mack’s shoulder. “Good job.” He said, holding his right hand in a thumbs-up, wearing a big smile. “Now, come on! We must congratulate our opponents.” He led the younger male over to Amelia, then walked up to Cerise, shaking her hand vigorously. “A good first day, wouldn’t you say?”

“Indeed it was.” Cerise returned with a smile, seeing the good nature in Dash’s statement. “Wonder if it set the tone for the whole week.”

“So…” Amelia said, followed by an echo of Mack. He extended his hand, and they briefly shook hands, the two both returned to being nervous. “G-good game.” Amelia got out, and was again echoed.

Isaac hugged the girl, making her jump. “Great job!” He said, grinning like a opossum, but caught her wrong. She ran off, red as a tomato, leaving him the same shade. ”Argh, what did I do?”

-------

“You did great out there.” Andrew said, coming up to Amelia as she sat on the same bench as earlier. “Did you like the present?”

“Erm, yeah. Th-thanks Andy.” She said quietly. “You know, you really didn’t have to do that.” She gave him a small hug, and he rubbed her head.

“Well, you’re like my little sister, so how could I not help out? Anyways, come on, don’t sit here alone. We need to get along with the group, for tomorrow. And you know Isaac wasn’t trying to make you uncomfortable.” Andrew raised an eyebrow to the red girl, who stuttered. “Nonetheless, let’s go home.” Andrew walked off, and Amelia followed, the sun beginning to set on the horizon.

Day 2: Tuesday
The woman laughed, standing with a large demon, resembling the one the man had earlier. Behind her was a large black gate, with red marks all over it. ‘You really thought you could win?! Learn your place, trash, I beat you before, and spared you! Why go at it again?!”

The man stood, clutching his staff with both hands. “That may have exhausted my first wave… But there is more!” A twinkle appeared in the sky, and out of the blue, a figure jetted through the area, landing next to the man. She was clad in white armor with blue and green sections. She had yellow eyes and light blue hair, and she held a red blade in her right hand.

“This is my second wind!” The man yelled, and the new summon raised its blade, a roar filling the air.

-------

Again, Isaac shot up, drenched with sweat. ”Two in a row…? And it seemed to be a continuation…” He shook his head, telling himself the same things as the day before, quickly getting in the shower to get ready and rid himself of the sweat.

-------

Half an hour before, on the other side of the house, Cerise stretched, and made a mewling noise as she woke up. She rolled out of bed, and looked at the bed she had set up for Lyn. To her surprise, the younger girl was still asleep. ”That’s odd. Guess she was really tired. I’ll wake her up after I shower.” Cerise thought with a shrug.

After she was dressed, Cerise walked over to the sleeping girl. “Hey, Lyn! Time to wake up! She yelled, shaking the blue-haired female.

Lyn woke up with confusion as her head was thrown back and forth. “Wha-what’s going on?” She asked, shakily. She caught a glimpse of the clock, and realized. “Agh, sorry!” She shot out of the bed, past her friend, to get ready in the bathroom. Cerise laughed, knowing how her friend hated sleeping in.

“It’s alright, you have plenty of time!” She called to her friend and left the room. She sat at the table, and poured herself a cup of coffee as she waited for the other two people in the house to hurry up. ”Today’s my day.” She took a sip of her coffee, and thought. ”My deck should be fast enough to keep up, but, who knows?”

-------

“Are you ready to rrrrrrrrrrumble?!” Parco asked Cerise, as he stood across from her. As with the day before, his shirt was off, and he was flexing. Mack sat on a bench not far behind his leader, seemingly uncaring, though he wasn’t blinking. On Powerforce’s side, it was the same as the day before, only switching out Cerise with Amelia.

Lyn embraced Cerise, the last to encourage her friend. “You can do it!” Cerise hugged her friend tight. The embrace ended, and Lyn ran back to the group. “Make a miracle!” She called, as she sat next to Amelia.

“Alright, Parco, let’s get started!” The two announced the duel and drew their opening hands. Cerise began to speak, but Parco beat her to it. “Ladies first.” He said with a bow, causing her to cock her head at him.

“That’s my thing…” She mumbled, but went on anyways. “Alright! I activate the effect of the Fabled Chawa in my hand! I can discard 1 Fabled monster to Special Summon it in defense (100)!” A yipping was heard as a small, off-white dog ran through the area, with a small fiend barely hanging on. When the dog stopped, Cerise’s grave lit up. Out of the grave, a red, three-headed dog flew, barking like hell as its keeper also held on for dear life.

“When the Fabled Cerburrel (1000) is discarded, I can special summon him!” The beast settled, an a card in Cerise’s hand lit up. Black feathers began to fall over the place as Cerise placed the card that lit up in the grave. “I activated my Fabled Grimro! I can send her to the grave while I have a Fabled to add a Fabled to my hand! I add my Fabled Ganashia!”

A woman’s cry of pain was heard, and light shot out of the grave, forming the shape of the elephant Fabled as Cerise added it to her hand. “Now, I normal summon Ganashia (1600)!” The Purple Elephant fell out of the sky, its fiend underneath it the whole way. Upon landing, the fiend was squshed under its foot, and barely squeezed itself out.

“I set three cards, and now I’m tuning my Cerburrel to my Ganashia!” The three-headed beast barked, and turned into a pair of tuning circles, which Ganashia flew into as they spun. The elephant became three stars, and lined up, causing a light to fire through the rings. “A laugh from hell makes its way to heaven! Mocking the lost sky, the fallen angel grants his own weak power! Synchro Summon! Fly once more, Fabled Ragin (2300)!”

The light gave way to a charged mist, with a low chuckle coming out. Black wings spread wide, breaking the mist, and blew it away with a flap. The golden, mask-wearing fiend stood there, arms crossed and grinning, as 2 smaller fiends were arguing above his head. On each wing, a golden card appeared, and flew to Cerise. “Now, when I Synchro Summon my Ragin, I can draw until I have 2 cards in my hand, which is emtpty!” She drew her two cards, and looked over them. “I’ll set one card and end.”

“Now, it’s time for the manliest player of this game to go!” Parco called out, posing some more, making Cerise laugh more than a little. “I draw! Next, I summon my Rainbow Pony (1100)!” A blue pony with wings, and a rainbow-man appeared on the field, seeming to smile and look at Cerise. “Alright, now I- Wait, what’s so funny?”

Cerise was clutching her stomach, laughing her heart out. “Y-y-you said you’re the m-manliest duelist?” She broke into a giggle fit before she continued. “A-and then y-you summon a pony! A-a RAINBOW PONY!” Tears fell from her eyes as Parco sighed.

“I’ll just carry on, then. I special summon my Unicorn Pony from my hand (1100)!” A white pony with a horn galloped onto the field, pulling up beside the Rainbow Pony. “I’ll follow that up with the field spell, Imagination of Fiyah! Once per turn, I can special summon a Pony from my deck!” The two ponies out whinnied, and their strength increased. “First off, it increases all Ponies’ ATK by 200! And, it allows me to Special Summon 1 non-Tuner Pony from my Deck per turn! Come on out, Mixed Pony (1100)!”

A brown, white, black, and red pony leaped to the field, and cocked its head at the Rainbow Pony. “Now, I tribute Rainbow so Mixed is treated as a Tuner! Now, I’m tuning my Mixed with my Unicorn!” The two ponies galloped into the air. Mixed Pony became four rings, and Unicorn became one star to go in between each ring. The light shot through, and Parco’s chant began.

“Galloping through heaven with beauty, the ponies are not to be taken lightly! Grace and power are not separate! Synchro Summon! Appear now in fiery imagination, Laura Pony (2200)!” A pony, red with a long mane, descended from above with a neigh. She pawed at the Earth, and a small flame went from Parco’s deck to his graveyard. “I send Flare Pony to my grave, and add my Unicorn Pony back to my hand! I special summon her once more!”

The unicorn appeared once more, but laid down, and flaked away. “Now, I tribute it to add another Mixed Pony to my hand! Now, I remove the Rainbow in my grave to special summon Mixed from my hand!”

The patchwork pony appeared again, and a flame left Parco’s grave. “Now, I pay 800 LP to special summon Flare from my grave (1100)!” A pony that seemed to be ablaze appeared next to Mixed, but was swiftly dismissed. “I tribute it to turn Mixed into a tuner, and then bring it back for 800 more LP!” Parco’s life fell to 6400 as the blazing pony rose once more.

“Now, it’s time to tune again!” As with before, the two ponies formed four rings and four stars. “The power of the ponies charges forward! Her grace and beauty are matched only by her force! The leader of the forces arrives, cloaked in flames of passion! Synchro Summon! Power Puff Pony! (2400)” A pink pony with pom-pom like puffs around her hoofs landed, and neighed.

“Now, her effect activates! I reveal all cards in my hand, once per turn!” Parco showed Tiara Pony, Dash Pony, and Fluttery Pony. “Now, I send all 3 to the grave, and draw 3 cards!” Parco glanced over his hand, and set 2 cards. “Now, Power Puff, attack Chawa!”

The Power Puff Pony shot at the little dog, but a gust filled the area. “No way! I activate Phoenix Wing Wind Blast! I discard one card, and bounce one of your cards!” The Puffy pony was whipped into the air, as was her card. Parco returned it to the deck as a small crying girl appeared above Cerise. She shattered, and her pieces went into the grave. “I discarded my Fabled Krus! When she is discarded, I can special summon 1 level 4 or lower Fabled from my grave! I special summon Grimro (1700)!”

The fiend spread her black-feathered wings wide, as she was at Ragin’s side. “Fine! I’ll attack with my other Pony! Kill Grimro!” Laura charged forward, only to hit a mirror. The pony’s attack reflected back, and destroyed the monster. “Mirror force… Not bad, Cerise!” He looked at the girl who was still laughing, and his expression went flat. “I end.”

Cerise wiped a tear from her eyes as her turn began. “Well, I’ll start by setting 1 card. Next, I tune Grimro with Chawa, to make another Ragin!” Another golden fiend appeared as before, and granted her draws. “Next, I activate Monster Reincarnation that I just set!” The spell flipped face up, and Cerise discarded a card. “ Reincarnation allows me to discard 1 card to add a monster in my grave to my hand! I discarded my Fabled Kushano, and returned Grimro! Now, I drop Grimro, and add another Krus to my hand!”

A paper flew out of the grave, and covered the Krus Cerise has added to her hand. It wrapped around the card, and caused it to disappear, as Kushano ejected herself from the grave. “When Kushano is in my grave, I can discard 1 Fabled to add her back to my hand! And then Krus summons the other Krus in my grave (1000)!” The crying girl rose from the grave, hiding behind the two Ragins.

“Now, I normal summon Kushano (1100)!” The scholarly-looking fiend studied her book as she appeared. She adjusted her glasses with a sadistic smile, and spread her wings wide. Cerise set one card, and Kushano turned into three rings as Krus turned into two stars. A third golden, mask-wearing fiend appeared, but, as Cerise drew, a wave hit the field, destroying the three fiends.

“I knew you’d get another out!” Parco called out. “I chained Torrential Tribute to your last Ragin, wiping all your monsters away!” Cerise winced, looking at the two cards in her hand. She ended her turn without another word. “Alright, my go.” Parco drew, and grinned wide at his draw. “You ready to rumble?!” He asked as at first, and slammed the spell down.

“I activate Rekindling!” The area filled with small flame sprites, hopping up all over the place. “I can special summon as many FIRE monsters with 200 DEF from my grave as possible. I revive my Laura, Flare, Mixed, Tiara (1100), and Unicorn Ponies!” The five fairies rose as one, out of the sprites’ flames. The unicorn whinnied, and tribute itself, letting Parco add a Diamond Pony to his hand. “Now, I activate Laura! I send another Rainbow, and add Unicorn to hand from grave! Then I tribute Flare to special summon a Double Pony (1100) from my deck, by Tiara’s effect!”

The Pony, that seemed to have a clone following it, landed deftly, but did not stay long. “Now, I tribute Double for Mixed, then tune Mixed and Tiara! Synchro Summon, Laura Pony! I activate her, and send a Unicorn to the grave from my deck to add it to my hand! Now, I summon Diamond Pony, and then special summon both unicorns! Xyz Summon! Number 10: White Knight Illuminator (2400)!”

The three ponies became energy, and swirled into the vortex opening up. Illuminator rose out of it, riding a horse, blade at ready. “Now, I detach a Unicorn to send the Wing Pony in my hand to the grave, and draw 1!” He looked at the card, and called out. “BELIEVE IT!... I mean… Erm… Yes! I activate Imaginary Will of Fire! During this turn, when a Pony declares an attack, you can’t respond!” The two Lauras hit Cerise, dropping her life to 3600, but when White Knight’s attack came a wave emanated around its body.

“I activate Shock Wave!” Cerise yelled at her opponent. “While my life is lower than yours, I can destroy 1 monster on the field, and we both take damage for his ATK!” The soldier exploded, and Cerise’s life fell to 1200 as Parco’s hit 4200. Parco shrugged, and ended his turn, one of the Laura ponies being banished for Rekindling.

Cerise drew, and smiled. “This looks perfect.” She said aloud. “I activate the Fabled Chawa in hand! I discard the Fabled Ganashia to special summon Chawa!” Another little dog with a fiend-rider appeared, and another purple elephant squeezed itself from the grave. “Now, I set one card. I am tuning my Chawa to my Ganashia.” The two formed the summoning ring and stars, and Cerise began her chant.

“Gallop across the Earth, yearning to be where you once were! Look at the sky, fight against those who cast your kind down! Deplete their power! Synchro Summon, The Fabled Unicore (2300)!” The light shot through, and the white-horned horse galloped in, neighing. The Fiend on its back sat nonchalant, tiny next to it.

“Unicore, destroy Laura!” Cerise commanded the Fabled, and it shot forward, horn ahead. “Not so fast!” Parco called out. “I activate the trap card Magic Cylinder! The damage is redirected at y-“ The card next to him was shot by a bolt of lightning from Unicore’s horn.

“Since neither of us have cards in our hands, all of your effects are negated.” Parco blanched as he saw the unicorn impale Laura, shattering her and reducing his life to 4100. ”I can’t do… Anything?” He shuddered at the thought. Cerise ended, and he took his turn. ”Alright, our hands aren’t the same now… But I need to use this card I drew. Hmm…”

“I activate my Imagination of Fire! I Special Summon a Nop from my deck! Next, I pay 800 Life points, and special summon Flare Pony from my grave! Xyz summon!” The two ponies came together, and a plain figure, completely off-white, appeared from the summon. “Gem-Knight Pearl! Destroy Unicore.”

As Unicore was destroyed, Cerise’s thoughts began to become ”Dammitdammitdammit!” She had lost all sight of the plan she had had. When Parco ended, she kept her head down. ”Come on… Gotta make a miracle for Lyn…. Gotta make a miracle!” Cerise screamed inside, as she drew her card.

-------

”Thanks for waking me up, despite sleeping in like that.” Cerise smiled at Lyn as she was thanked. “I honestly don’t have a clue why I slept like you.”

“Hey! I don’t always sleep like that!” The two began to laugh, knowing full well the falsehood of the statement. “So, Lyn, you ready for the day?”

The younger girl nodded. “I am, but I’m not sure about you. You make sure your deck’s up to snuff, yet?” She asked, seemingly concerned. Cerise explained everything was fine, but Lyn replied. “Silly, I can tell you’re nervous.” The older girl chuckled nervously. “Here, take these two cards. I got them yesterday.”

Cerise was handed a small envelope, and her eyes shot wide. “Lyn, how can you afford this?!” Lyn shook her head.

“Don’t worry, I got a big discount. Nice store owner. Sold me something for everyone. Just use them to beat this guy, alright? Make a miracle, Cerise!”

-------

“YES!” Cerise squealed, looking at the card. “I activate Miracle Synchro Fusion! I banish from my graveyard my Fabled Unicore and Fabled Chawa!” Lightning struck as the two beasts were removed. “The king splits the skies in two as he shoots through them. Heaven cries out with thunder and lightning! The lord of light appears, evolving from the synchros! Fusion Summon! Descend, Holy Emperor Dragon (3100)!”

A large white dragon with multi-colored scales on parts roared as it came out of the sky. IT clutched two orbs, which it flung to either side of it. Out of the orbs came the Fabled Unicore and the Fabled Ganashia. “When Holy Emperor Dragon is Fusion Summoned, I can Special Summon 2 Banished Light monsters! It’s been fun, Parco! Holy Emperor Dragon, Ethereal Divide!” The dragon shot forward, and sliced through Pearl, inflicting damage to Parco, whih was followed up by the Fableds, leaving him with no life.

The illusions faded, and Parco was clapping and laughing heartily. “Now that was fun! Normally decks can’t keep up with mine!” He ran up to Cerise, and bowed, taking her hand. He shook it as he came up from the bow, making Cerise chuckle at his antics.

“You’re really crazy, aren’t you?” She asked the opposing leader, who just shrugged.

“Do I drive a Pony Motorbike? Yes. Yes I do, and it is radical. I’ve named it Sparklelord!” Cerise fell over laughing, which caused Parco to laugh as well. Soon enough, the two were laughing and babbling incoherently as Mack and Team Powerforce stared at them. “Anyways, same time tomorrow. Props on using a pony! It makes you 20% cooler!” Parco hopped on Sparklelord, and drove off, leaving a groaning Mack.

-------

“Thanks, Lyn, you really saved my ass back there.” Cerise whispered to her friend as they lay in their beds. “I really wouldn’t have won that, if you hadn’t done that for me… Well, it’d have been good game for me, you get w-“ She looked over, and saw Lyn was sound asleep. With a smile, she breathed “Good night, Lyndis.” Before turning over, and going to her dreams, as her brother did the same.

Well, pretty energetic start to this whole thing.

I like the writing style, though the huge blocks of text in the duel parts could stand breaks I suppose. But that's only for visual purpose. There's really no reason to and in fact doing it just for that would be a little silly.

Good job on resisting the urge to have your character be an untouchable duelist first chapter.

Only issue is it was a little short. And all that means is i wanted more.

Fun beginning to this, will be waiting to see where it goes.

That was a good start Black!
One thing though: giant blocks of text are bad. Whenever characters are talking, do a new paragraph/line each time someone else speaks. Otherwise, stick with 4-6 sentences each.
I kinda think people will point out lack of description, but I personally don't think of it as an issue considering you posted links for appearances (Amelia's is broken btw).
Story itself was good, now my guesses:
Isaac-You
Cerise-Cherry (inb4noshitfusion)
Amelia-Clair
Andrew-Creator? DL? Andx?

Andrew is the only real mystery to me. Gonna guess Andx though [s]even though every fic incarnation of him has to be a dog.[/s]
Good chapter, hope you keep this running.
If I appear, mind if I don't chant for Synchro Summons? It's not just that I don't want to, I probably wouldn't be able to come up with one on the spot anyway .-.

Andrew is the only real mystery to me. Gonna guess Andx though [s]even though every fic incarnation of him has to be a dog.[/s]

[s]Well Black won't be doing that for me since he actually wants to see me have like actual character roles in these things. xD Still want him to give my character a pet dog for lulz though.[/s]

I'll just levy you a quick tip, space out your work more; after someone has finished talking. This gives the illusion that the fic is longer and it's less of a strain to read. Also, you might want to look into your grammar use as well, seeing how there are way to many breaks in the flow of text.

Cerise is the best character. J/s.

You already know what I think about it. I told you on MSN. Needs more walls of text, description, and more of Cerise kicking ass. I demand she have SSD, btw.
Won't repeat what the others said about the paragraph thing.
...I want Chapter 2 right now. D:

Will Riffview soon, but in the meantime I'll give my perspective as a reader.

There are several typos I caught, impying you didn't proofread
The duels, while more fun to watch because of how you describe them, make me lost often because of the same reason.
The dialogue seems...unnatural at many parts. (you'll hear more of this from the Riffview)
The OST-starts/ends are just plain silly, which is why I refuse to play them at said parts (that, and my Youtube is sucking)
There is lack of show outside duels, and tell that can easily be avoided. You also did, in the end, a nononono, which is showing AND telling.
The duels at 8000 Life Points for a show that tries to be an anime (OST and character images imply such thing) seems a tad weird (not a big concern though)

All in all, the duel was confusing at times, the dialogues were choppy, and there really was no hook in the entire chapter to make readers want to read more.

Nevertheless, I shall continue reading.

Definitely worth the read. I love how dreadfully exaggerate OST 4 is for a meal-deciding Duel. xD

Now, eh, you ate some letters. You wrote 'cheer up' as 'cheer p'. Also in 'punched him in the shoulder', you skipped the 'th' in 'the'.

Great start, [s]still wondering if I'll appear here earlier than in Cherry's[/s] and hoping to see more of it soon.

Thanks for actually bothering to write this for us to read. =3

I can see what you mean, the only thing I don't get is why there's a problem with the OST. I actually liked the inclusion, it helped me visualize the duel better in my head for some reason.
I'm surprised you read this actually.

Why surprised?

If I don't read this Black turns emo

Well true, I'm only reading because of a certain factor, but I AM willing to give this a try because it's not like, 10 pages long.

*glares at Fusion*

Also, this isn't anime, there shouldn't even be an OST.

And while adding an OST for fun on the side is all good, actually saying "((OST # begins playing here))" is just....bleh

You gotta understand this is a written method of media, not a visual-audio one.

That would be much better. Or he could save himself the trouble and leave it up to us when we think the OSTs should be used.

Or we could use our own background music for scenes where we find them fitting. Either way, listing when an OST should be played....isn't something I would do.

And I hate reading duels, you're right. I kinda just....skim them with enough attention so as to get the overall duel happenings.

But these are more bearable, as I've stated, just a bit more confusing.

It's very easy to see who these people are:

Issac - Black
Cerise - Caeda
Amelia - Cherry
Andrew - Andrew

Word(s) of advise: When using dialog, be sure to place it at the beginning or end of a paragraph. Placing it in the center is confusing, and you never read a book with dialog that is in the middle of a paragraph.

Try to be more descriptive with your characters, because I saw the monsters better than I saw the characters (Even with a picture you should describe them).

Make all 'serious' (Because in a world where things are decided by duels with cards not guns can never be truly serious) Duels use 400 LP like regulation plz.

All in all, better than most first chapters. I can honestly say it is better than what I can write. (Then again, I haven't really had a Fic I'm dedicated to).

Nice job Black, as stated the flow of the dialogue could have been better, and I also noticed a few misspelled words. Though nothing huge that I could see. I am pretty bad with grammar so I wont even say anything about that part. Anyways I liked the episode, it was funny and intruiging to see the twins fighting and then end up getting in a duel like that, it seems realisitic that way. Anyways great job and cannot wait to read more, keep it up.

EDIT: By the way no, my real name is William as stated in my profile.
