Seriously, This Is Getting Out Of Hand!!!

I have finally had it! These spammers spamming the message boards need to go! Ever since that three-day blackout, these threads have been popping up like no tomorrow, and in the OOC section of the RP sub-forum, where I normally [s]lurk[/s] hang out, there have been repeated spammings of advertisements for ADULT chatrooms!!! The average age around here is what? 14? These kids don't need to be seeing these ads! I'm sure most of them do know the birds and the bees, but there are still those that do not! We could get sued for this! SUED!!! That would mean no more YCM!!! Can't the admins block IP addresses or something?!?

They can block IP adresses, but do you think that stops spammers from trying? They can always shift IP adresses, and it's impossible for the site to stop then otherwise. Courts, cops, and no one else is going to bother with helping us deal with these low-life pieces of s***, and there's not much we could do.
I know it sucks, and I'm as pissed about it as you are, but there's just not much we can do, other than ban the spammers when they come up.

Sure their parents could sue but honestly who was supposed to be supervising these kids while they browse the internet? The spammers? No the parents should be supervising their own kids. They have no reason to sue YCM or YCMaker himself simply because they didn't supervise their own kids.

And if you're so damn pissed about these spammers then you should help the mods by sending them a link to the thread so they can delete it and ban the spammers. Just don't go ahead and spam within those threads by saying stuff like "YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO ADVERTISE!!! REPORTED" because really saying that in a thread that's clearly made by a spammer is spam itself.[/b][/font]

This topic has been discussed before. IIRC Wahrheit suggested making a question portion for the sign up section so that spambots couldn't get in, but YCMaker is unwilling to change it. So, basically, we'll keep getting spam for awhile. Not much can be done about it.

Edit: Also, there is no way to control what anyone does once they get here. All that can be done is ban and removal of the stuff after it has been found. Like King said, parents need to be responsible for their kids.

Without YCMaker or FP doing something or even bothering to be active there's no way we can set something up. We've asked about getting a 3rd Admin, but its been shot down several times, so all the mod team can do is ban on sight.

I haven't heard from YCMaker or F for a long time. It almost feels like they have left this Forum to Rot after the Server Change. Frunk was here from the beginning, they should make him Admin or at least promote some of the more trusted Supers to Admins. Day by Day I am slowly starting to lose faith i YCM. It's none of the Mod's fault and they are doing all they can (which I am proud of) but without a Admin, YCM is like a Ship with holes.

At any rate, the moderators can't do anything other than delete and ban on sight, which we're already doing, and the administrators won't do anything because they're lazy and thick. Also, you can thank YCMaker for the proliferation of spambots, since it was his decision to move us from MyBB to IP.Board (without consulting anyone and which was instantly revealed to be a mistake due to IP.Board's numerous broken features) that put us on the spam servers' radars.
