MarbleZone
Hey guys. I'm trying to make an archetype that focuses on Tribute Summoned monsters gaining the effects of the monsters Tributed for the summon, essentially creating a chain where, if several monsters are Tributed in succession, the last monster will have the effects of all previous "generations". For example: "If this card attacks an opponent's monster, this card gains 300 ATK during the Damage Step only. If this card is Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a Machine-Type monster, that monster gains this card's effect(s)" My problem is, "gains this card's effect" applies when the tributed monster hits the Graveyard, and by then its effect is considered to be only what is printed on the card, correct? If such, it'd be impossible to then tribute the monster I had just summoned for a third monster and have that one inherit the effects from the previous 2. If so, would wording it like this circumvent the problem? "If this card attacks an opponent's monster, this card gains 300 ATK during the Damage Step only. If this card is Tributed for the Tribute Summon of a Machine-Type monster, that monster gains this card's effect(s) while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard." Link to comment
Squidward Tentacles
I think it would, MZ. I'm not all that sure myself since I've never done any cards with those effects, but I've seen a few, so probably. Link to comment

MarbleZone
Not quite, but thanks My problem is, I want to pass down effects after consecutive tributes, meaning, effects that aren't printed in the original card texts and, as such, are disregarded when tributed monsters hit the Graveyard. Umbra
I believe that the second wording would solve your problem. Link to comment
