Back Scratcher!
My first splice is of Spiritomb, Ferrothorn, and Kabutops. My second sprite is of Aggron and Genesect, which I call "Jet-pack Aggron" My third is of Chandelure, Snorlax (recolor), and Gliscor
Hunter.
these look a little too professional to be someone's first splices.
Cozmosus
Not really. If you look closely, there is no shading. The second isn't well put together either.
Back Scratcher!
I understand how Shadow thought that they weren't my first sprites because of their quality, but how do you get shading? Is it just making some of the colors lighter and some darker? Also, should I try to make shadows for them?<div>By the way, I used a program called GIMP, which lets me edit down to the pixel. </div>
GIMP sucks pretty much if you splice. Use MS Paint instead. And the different shades is already on the original Pokémon. And the color is messed up on the first splice. CrystalCyae
shading: Nope. X 50-50 (or whatever: Nope. X Scratch: Nope X XXX. Not a good sign. Let's begin, shall we? In the first splice, all you did was add Kabutops claws and Ferrothorn's..... thignies. To add to that, you colored the whole thing in Spiritomb colors, which makes it horribly one sided to Spiritomb. It is best to try to even things out, and make it more evn. Maybe Ferrothorn colors somewhere? Kabutops eyes? ANYTHING Te recoloring of Kabutop's claws and ferrothorns things is HORRIBLE. You colored it all one shade, and beigish shade. And you didn't even recolor the borders. tsk tsk. You need to color each shade a different tone of the lightest color. I NEED JAPPIO OR SOEMTHING TO EXPLAIN IT BETTER. Overall, a very low quality splice. You didn't reshade the added parts, you rotated, you didn't recolor borders, and overall you did almost nothing. It just looks like Spiritomb pasted paper legs on her stone and is lifting three thorns with his seperate spirits. In the second splice...... Now, I don't know WHO'S legs you used, but all you did was erase the shading, to random balck svriible then FLIP the image over and use it again to be the opposite leg. Nonono. The same thing happened to Pinsir's claws, you simply flipped it over and used the same one again. Certainly looks that way. Again, very low quality. In the third sprite.... tsk tsk tsk. All you did was take Genesects cannon, Rotate it 90 degrees, and paste in on Aggrons back. Now, the cannon looks all blotchy because ROTATING IS BAD. Only use it when it is desperately needed. And it wasn't. To top it off, you recolored the cannon with Aggron's colors, meaning it's HOORIBLE 90-10 Aggron's way. Again, low quality. The final sprite... Now, first of all it's HUNTAIL not HAUNTAIL. Scondly, all you did was stick the tip of Huntail's tail on Crobat and recolor it as Crobat. And you didn't reshade it to fit it's new position. Overall, these sprites are very low quality, and they were done as ATTACHMENTS. To upload a sprite, go to image shack, select your sprite, upload it and copy the Forum image code. And paste it where you need it. Also, just because these are your first splices doesn't let you off easy. As I recall, some spriters actually had decent splices to begin with. Me'thinks you should look at some splicing tutorials [s]Ask Jappio for advice[/s] and try again. Keep in mind a splice isn't a pokemon with pieces slapped on and no effort to make it look truly presentable. It takes time to become as good as people like Metal Flygon and Jappio, but in time you could be mentioned amongst them. If you just look at how THEY do it, maybe your splices can increase in quality.
Raelen
Please don't post as attachments next time please. My computer isn't opening for some retarded reason, so I can't critique your splices ATM.

It's critique of that caliber that true artists crave. One only improves by fixing their mistakes. To hold back and not mention something because they think they are being too "harsh" isn't being all that nice. Someone taking as much time to sit down and analyze someone's work, and to really look at them and take the time right up what they think could be improved, is an honor. It's much nicer and respectable than the guy who comes in and says "Nice sprites" and leaves.

I didn't get to look at the sprites yet but, keep trying you'll get it eventually.
