Game I Voted For: Okami

Reasons Why: One of the great masterpieces to come from the masterminds that are called Capcom, Okami is an epitome of everything great about gaming. Amazing soundtrack with all the Japanese heritage of its plot with just as spectacular gameplay. The Japanese mythology in it is educational and puts a twist on the classic RPG-like feel of it. Amazing unique idea of the Celestial Brush and beautiful, smooth fights and gameplay. The bosses are challenging, has plenty of replay value, beautiful cutscenes and graphics. My favourite game of all time and is up to the level of The Legend of Zelda, Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog.

Where do you expect it to come on the list: Quite low actually. With the majority of the population being addicted to things like Call of Duty or other random games, little things like this can't shine very well. Definitely under appreciated, always has been unfortunately. Unless the classic gamers come in, I can't say I expect Okami to win.

why?

 

because everyone is soooo into street fighter because capcom is a bigger name value and they have so many games, when you think about it only 1/4 of the games capcom makes are good, I personally think SNK makes way better games in ratio of games released.... up untill 2004 atleast

 

Fighting games we're always my favorite genre because of the amount of skill, timing, reaction involved.

kof just happens to be my favorite because the amount of features that make it so much more skill based, *max mode, caneling, cancel comboing, cancel juggling, cross-wire, hard knock down, emergency role, teching a throw* and there isnt any bull s*** like blocking in the air or one attack is a 10 hit combo which is sooo f***ing broken.

 

the characters a more original and the roster is very uniuqe and full of really entertaining fighting styles, not just fireballs and upper cuts

 

the and its more than just one on one, there is team on team, tag team battle, striker team battle which bring in even more skill to your game expereince.

 

if you havnt played it before and love fighting games try picking it up via emulator or gamefly or w/e, you might really debate on its superiority to other fighting games.

Uncharted 3 is sooo taking 2011, I mean come on, have you seen the multiplayer beta trailer? it was like 1 minute long it was enough to pump me up, Naughty Dog only revealed one multiplayer mode, Team vs Team vs Team Deathmatch, so there are much more modes that aren't revealed yet.You can also customize how the way your character and weapon look.

I mean, c'mon, at least vote Chrono Trigger or Portal or one of the myriad Final Fantasies (XIII was my personal favourite, but...) Then again, I figured out what this forum's taste in media was like back when Naruto beat Shikieiki Yamaxanadu. >_>

Mass Effect series.

 

Why: Pretty much revolutionized well, everything. Epic storytelling, great acting voice acting, some of the most memorable characters of all time, excellent gameplay (again, mainly in ME2. ME1 is there simply for the sake of the story pretty much.)

 

Where do I expect it to wind up?: Last. Why? Go on XBL. Now look at your friends list. Now click on your friends one by one while looking at the 'compare games' screen. How many people have played Mass Effect 1 or 2? That's what I thought.

lol what. Pokemon has a very dynamic competitive scene since their is so much more to pokemon then just the casual scene. From what I've seen and heard Zelda hasn't been challenging for over a decade, and challenge is also a highly subjective thing.

 

And just a funny point, FF13 is a VERY divided game with MANY people loving it and MANY people hating it. Just thought I'd bring that up, but you seem to know that.

 

 

 

 

And on that point, I'm locking this. "Best" is one of the most subjectives things you can talk about and not only is this a bad poll (you have game series, single games, games from series listed, "series" for what amount to 2 games, like 5 FF games) but there is SOOO much missing. I understand wanting to make a thread like this, but if you want to do this right you'd need to put a lot of effort and time in to come up with a good list and that is something I don't see happening atm.

 

Because I understand people love this kind of thing I would be willing to try to come up with as unbiased a list as possible. Yea, it seems wrong that I'm taking control of this, but if this is going to be done I'd want it done right and the best way to get that is for me to be the one doing it. However if I were to do this I would be making pre-polls to get some games on the list (like what pokemon game) and I will be taking suggestions (honestly Chrono Trigger should be on the list and odds are I'd miss it when making the list) to get as much community feed back as possible. If I were to do this expect it some time in the summer when I'll have time to really look over gaming history and take the google of games and cut it down to.......lets say 50. And again, I'm not making promises, just saying if I ever have time I might seriously start work on this.
