Master Red
Beau had lingered around for a while, contemplating on whether he shpuld carry the egg around in his arms or stuffing it in his bag. There was most definately room for it in there, but he didn't know how safe it would be. It would be nice to have his arms free, but he decided that unless he had a shirt or something stuffed in the bag for comfort he egg had to be carried. As he swung up the bag on one shoulder he saw a boy approaching Mark. He recognized him as the boy that had tried and failed to sneak into Jenna's class and he could remember him sitting out on the practical part. Perhaps he was a pacifist or into contests? "Potential future competition if he's a coordinator" Beau thought to himself as he walked over. "Hey there, I'm Beau... nice to meet you" He said as he approached, smiling at the boy and then turning his attention to Mark. "Hey, do you know what the next class is?" he asked, "I can't remember" he added quickly afterwards and laughed a bit.
GreyCat
Blair, following Beau's lead, took this blazer and put the not so manly skills he garnered from being raised by a for-all-appearances single mother to good uses. He fashioned a harness for the egg by pinning the bottom closed. He liked running in the forests. And he wasn't very careful about were, so his mom forced him to carry some safety pins with him. He had three needles with different colored threads in his lapel as well, but he wasn't about the display the fact that he could sew in from of other people. Nothing less manly. But soon enough, Tyke's egg was securely fastened in a pack of sorts and hanging from his neck. Not a moment too soon. "Deer-LING!" Ling yawned as he burst out of his pokeball for the third time since morning. He blinked and shook himself, looking around. He spotted the eggs, not Tyke's because that one was hidden in the blazer pack or Beau's, but Mark's. Ling looked curiously then charged. Blair caught him just in time. "No! No tackling people with eggs!" Ling licked at Blair face.
Naimo
Clover smiled. "I know, can you believe it? Oooo I can't wait for my Togepi to hatch!" She stroked it again, and when she did so, she felt it move slghtly; she paid barely attention to it though, for she was walking as she talked. She then heard Blair approach, and Clover quickly interposed, "Oh hi, I don't think we've met either. I'm Clover Addison, and in his Pokeball-" She briefly touched the mentioned subject. "-is Chris. I would normally have him out here with me, but I can't carry him and my Togepi at the same time."
fenrir
Next class was Survival, and oh god was this a fun one. "Yeah, Survival. I know exactly where it is." Newcomers went straight to the classroom, Mark instead, lead the group outside. They were now walking away from the main building and entering the gate to the Jungle-Gym. It was surprisingly unlocked. They made their way through a thick forest, their only path being a used dirt vehicle trail. The trees were large and various Pokémon cries could be heard, at one point Mark had stopped, thinking they were getting followed by a Pinsir. He should have gotten glances from this behavior, but upon actually arriving to the Jungle-Gym the Survival teacher, Lt. Boss, was standing in the middle of the ground floor, waiting. The Jungle-Gym was an impressive structure, it was completely wooden. There was a generator and a heater on the ground floor behind the back wall of the stadium, but besides that it was completely wooden. Upon entrance there was a very large field, kept neatly cut. In the right side was a sand pit with various play areas. To the left was a small pond with a slide of sorts. Above were various large nets, obviously for safety and play reasons. Impressive tree-houses lined the walls of the stadium, each of varying sizes. Ladders were located to their left and right, and the silhouette of a stadium could be seen in the field. "Hmmph. Impressive. You're the chairman's son right? Figures you'd be the only one ta' know the trick I pull on the first day." Mark grunted, indicating the others that were following him. Lt. Boss leaned to the right to get a better glimpse. He nodded at the small group. "Fine. You have ten minutes to relax." "I'll explain to you what we're doing in five." He stood straight and locked his hands behind his back, marching slowly to the side. "In Survival we work in groups. There are groups like you, which are then split into pairs. You will be doing most of your work like this, with a partner. This partner will be working with you for the rest of the current school year, maybe even longer. I'll give you about five minutes to pair up. Any questions?" He stopped to glare at the group. "No? That's what I thought. NOW PAIR UP YOU WURMPLES."
.:Abarai Renji:.
Wendy - after their class was over - had placed her egg in her and Clover's dorm, wrapping it up nicely and calmly in her bedsheets, so it would be kept warm and safe when they were gone. She had given the egg a quick pat on the top before she and SParky then went off towards the next class, which was Survival Class. She had gotten a bit scared while they were walking through the jungle-like area outside of the school, and she could of sworn she saw a few wild Bug Pokémon on the way there. Finally, as they reached the Jungle-Gym, and they all looked up at Lt. Boss, she could tell he was not the kind of teacher that would coddle around with his students. 'My god... he is big...' she thought as he walked back and forth and explained the situation. Almost immedietly, she felt a strange surge of worry that she was going to get a bad partner. But then again, it was easily calmed down as she had learned a lesson from her encounter with Mark; to not show worry or hesitation. She put on a confident look, and as Lt. Boss told them to pair up, only one question flew through her mind; 'Who am I going to pair up with?'
Master Red
Beau hadn't really liked having to leave his egg behind in his room but when he thought about it eggs and survival didn't really mix that well. From what his sister had told him the teacher of the class was quite... harsh, he guessed the word would be, and the classes tended to get quite hard quite fast. He tried to remember more about the teacher and the class as his sister had given him lots of tips regarding it, knowing it was the class that was to be 'feared' the most. As the teacher, Lt. Boss, spoke he immediately knew that his sister hadn't really been joking about him being strict, you could hear it on his voice and how he talked. He didn't ask the students nicely to do something, he ordered them around and Beau didn't think that whining would be a very good idea. Since Clover was the closest to him he tapped her on the shoulder shortly after they'd been ordered to pair uo. "Hey, wanna work together?" he asked her, smiling. Naimo
Clover wanted to grumble; she already hated this class, and to think she would need to spend the next seven years doing this! Nonetheless, she didn't have a choice at all, and was relieved to hear that Beau wanted to team up with her. "Yes, I'd love to team up with you," she said to him. She definately had a good impression of Beau, even though they had barely spoken; she was, in fact, glad that he was with her. Perhaps Survival wouldn't be so bad after all... fenrir
Mark grumbled, so far the only competent people were taken; Clover and Beau. That left him with two... Weaklings and a person he didn't really know. Blair did at least seemed to be competent. Granted Mark did not watch him battle, hell, did Blair even get to battle? Well he did have a Deerling... It would be quite embarrassing to battle with one, then again Mark used Sat, and she was a Hoppip. Something much, much worse. ...Suddenly he felt quite sympathetic for him. As he was deciding on who he would want to pair up with, another group entered the stadium. Like the others they had set their bags down, but away from the first. The "leader" of the group was none other than Sally. Mark barely managed to recognize that other kid that was bugging Beau, another girl that appeared to be his sister, a rather short boy with stocky glasses, and a much taller girl to his right. These were the best descriptions he would humor the readers with. A few others followed them, forming a group not to unlike their own. Upon Sally spotting Mark, she walked up to him with a smile. Before she could say anything, Mark struck first. "Sorry I'm with this kid," elbowing Blair as to get his attention. "And we would be in different groups anyways." Lt. Boss nodded in agreement. "Someone knows how my class works..." He muttered, preparing to give the same speech to the other group.
Fallen Hero
Someone who was not noticed amongst the group of students was a young boy named Kevin who was so quiet and still, that he acting like a shadow of the class, just lingering behind the rest of them whenever they had to go to their studies. He wasn't completely a shy person but more weary about trusting people too easily in case they stab you in the back. Some people in the group looked like they would do that if they wanted something. So far his luck hasn't been the best while being in this academy. His first pokemon he got was a Solosis and even though it has the potential to be a strong pokemon, it's gonna be a weak pokemon for a while till it finally becomes a Reuniclus. To put salt on his already sore wounds, he found out that the egg he has contains a Happiny, Kevin already began to give up on believing he could be a good trainer considering the pokemon he has at the moment. Kevin had left his pokemon egg in his dorm and his Solosis in it's pokeball after finding out it was the polar opposite to him in terms of personality and it's friendly attitude does eliminate his chance to analysis his classmates before he interacts with them if Solosis is just gonna be friendly to them all and make them more aware of Kevin's appearance. Now he's got to pair up with someone for this survival class...can't a guy get a break for once? Kevin sighed to himself and loked to see who was left without a partner. "Ethan and Wendy don't have anyone to work with as far as I can see...hope they join together so I'm alone for a little while." he prayed to himself. Super Chaos Sonic
Ethan looked around to find someone to partner up with. Why was he even calling us Wurmples?? I mean, he could've called us Weedles instead...and why am I thinking this?? he thought with a sigh. Ethan looked at Wendy and then at one of the kids he didn't know, this was Kevin. Wendy is that one person with the Shinx and Riolu...but the other kid I have no idea on. Eh might as well go over to the girl. he thought as he walked towards Wendy. "U-Um...hey. Wanna work together??" Ethan asked, a little nervous.
GreyCat
"Um... sure," Blair said, a bit surprised, but not all that ungrateful. Though, there did seem to be some interesting back story between those two. "You sure that was a good move though," he whispered under his breath as Lt Boss and the girl walked off. "Our pokemon are a floating weed, no offense, and an overactive deer. Survival might not be the best place for these two." He sighed. Survival would be... fun to say the least. But, on to other matters. "But mark, what's the del with you and that girl. You were real quick to avoid talking with her. You know her or something?"
fenrir
Mark grunted, "She approached me during lunch. Not a big fan of her, to say the least." As for the Pokémon comment, "Well I know more or less how these classes work, and not to mention we at least can benefit off each other..." Suddenly, he had an idea. "You know, I could probably teach your Deerling Double-Edge." He looked at Blair, smirking. "No promises though, I don't know if he'll learn it easily or not. Surprisingly a lot of Pokémon have learning curves, some easier than others. Plant types can't pick up on a lot of stuff easily, I'm not quite sure why either." GreyCat
"Double edge, huh?" Blair said, thinking of Ling and his tendencies to run randomly around the place. His personality was made for moves like that. Anything involving reckless abandon would probably do well for the pokemon. "I have a feeling that Ling will pick up double edge pretty fast. It would be gret if he knew how to do something than run in a straight line." He stopped. "Well, at least double edge is a more manly way to run." He had a sudden vision of Ling bashing into everything with reckless abandon. Now that was scary thought. Very scary. But the thing between the girl and Mark. Now that was interesting. He didn't push it. As far as he was concerned, most girls weren't worth the time and effort.
.:Abarai Renji:.
Wendy was still slightly nervous about not being able to get a partner until the teacher called them back. Just then, he heard a voice, and spun around to see Ethan. He was that guy with the Rhyhorn that got beaten by Jenna's Raichu. She remembered him, although she had to admit, his Rhyhorn was rather cool-looking. "U-Um... hey, my name is Wendy." she told him. "And, well... since I don't have anyone to pair up with... s-sure, I guess." she smiled to the other boy; at least she had a partner now, although she had sort of hoped to be teamed up with... Mark. 'Why am I thinking such a thought?!' she thought to herself.
Super Chaos Sonic
"G-Great!" Ethan said slowly. He looked a Wendy again and smiled a little. This girl really does love her Shinx...and she doesn't like battling that much. he thought. Ethan grabbed Rai's Pokeball and then nodded. I'll find a way to make sure her Shinx doesn't get hurt. Me and Rai both will. He wasn't normally thinking this, but he knew that Wendy had said a few times that she didn't really like to fight. With that being said, he knew he'd have to make sure the both of them weren't in any harm. "By the way, my name is Ethan..." he said scratching the back of his head. fenrir
Noticing the pairs had been form for both groups, Lt. Boss continued. "Excellent. Now, look ta' the left. You see those ladders?" To their left were indeed ladders, at least ten were lined up against the wall. "You and your partner will wear these," he pulled out two wrist bands connected by a foot long piece of string. "The first lesson you will learn in my class is common sense. The way I teach common sense is much, much more fun." Lt. Boss grinned slyly. "Directly above you is a four stage obstacle course," Mark looked upward, it was true. Directly above him, beneath the silhouette of the Gym stadium at the top, were several long planks and safety nets. "All four parts require you to work with your partner. The catch?" He paused briefly, back turned to the class. "No speaking." "I only want to hear grunts, sighs, gasps, screams, and crying today! If I hear even the faintest hint of speech, I will fail you in this class. No exceptions." That was apparently directed towards Mark, as he was met with a glare. From the right side of the Jungle-Gym emerged a Ludicolo, dancing along to some beat only it could hear. It began to pass out wrist bands to partners, with the exception of Kevin. Whom it deemed as a 'loner'. "NOW BEGIN." A few pairs from the other group bolted ahead, climbing the ladders. Upon closer inspection it appeared that every pair of ladders were slightly closer to each other; presumably for this lesson. The second group was all but gone, with only Sally and her partner left. Her partner was a short, slightly chubby kid, who seemed to be a little too excited for this particular lesson. At the start of her ladder, she paused and glanced at Mark, waving before setting off. Although Mark himself ignored it, if anyone were to bring it up he would assert that no, it was directed towards Blair.
.:Abarai Renji:.
Wendy and Ethan had strapped their wrist bands together by now, thanks to a little help from Ludicolo. 'No speaking whatsoever? Isn't that a little... unneccesary?' Wendy thought for herself, but as Lt. Boss shouted at them to begin, her body acted on reflex, and along with Ethan, they hurried to the ladders. They went up to one ladder each, which were close to each other. The ladders seemed to be for one person only, and Wendy nodded to Ethan, signaling for him to start climbing up his ladder, as she began to climb up hers. 'Let's hope we'll do a good job...' she thought.
Super Chaos Sonic
Ethan nodded as he say Wendy signal him to climb his ladder. He began to climb up the ladder, just as Wendy did. OK, the whole not talking thing...that is really not something we're used to. Ethan thought as he continued to climb the ladder. That might be something he's used to...since he's a Lt., but come on! We're kids...we can't stay quiet for too long. Finally the two of them finished climbing the ladder and then saw several long planks in front of the both of them. Ethan sighed slightly, making sure not to speak a word. OK...its official, the guy is trying to kill us with this stuff. he thought with a smile appearing on his face. Master Red
"Okay awesome" Beau chirped as Clover agreed to working with him, though he quickly fell silent again as Lt. Boss (NOT SURGE LIKE RARITY ACCIDENTALLY WROTE ONCE IN HIS POST ;D) declared that there would be no talking for this exercise. "Oh great" he thought to himself and kicked a rock on the ground in discouragement. After the Ludicolo had given him and clover a wrist band in hot pink that they strapped on they waited for the teacher... eh, lieutenant's signal to go. After a quick dash to the ladders they had to run about for a while to find two that were actually free of other children. Beau wanted to grumble in annoyance but that was not allowed so he just kept the grumblings on a mental level.
Naimo
Clover was lagging behind Beau, and thus resigned to him taking the leadership for now. Climbing the ladders wasn't too difficult a task, considering how all she had to do was move at the same speed as him, though she was one step behind him. However, when they came to the planks and the safety net, Clover hestitated slightly. Gah, if only we could speak! she thought to herself. Hmmm ... got to get my message across to Beau somehow ... I guess this isn't exactly a timed challenge, right? She waited to see what he would do - as long as he didn't get too ahead of himself and pull her onto the planks, she should be able to cross them without one wrong footing. GreyCat
No talking. Just screams, crying and yelling? As twisted as that sounded, it actually impressed Blair. Lt. Boss was pulling some serious manliness around with him. He practically oozed it. That was the kind of man Blair wanted to be. But for now, he needed to survivor survival. He tugged at Mark and pointed at free ladder before half dragging him there. After this class, he need to see if anyone new sigh language and could teach him. Or some other form of non-verbal communication. Since pen and paper would be insufficient. If surval class was always like this, someone must have formed a club for something like that. fenrir
Mark seemed to have spaced out, when Blair tugged him he nodded, moving towards the ladder and climbing it. Above them, several groups stood at the start of the plank test. The planks were long, yet thin. They would have to walk in a single file line for at least several meters, until the end of the plank. At the end were another pair of ladders, leading up to another level. The catch to the plank level however, was the fact that at several increments there was a small hurdle. Behind the hurdle there was a two and a half foot gap in the planks. At best the taller kids could step over it, at worst it required a jump. Considering they had to walk single file, and there wasn't much space for them to be separated, it did seem quite scary.
Master Red
Beau stood hesitant by the planks for a while. They were kinda thin and they had to walk on them quite far, what disturbed him the most, however, was the several hurdles you'd have to, most likely, jump to get to. That was hard enough when you were not tied to someone else. Now they'd have to jump together without a way to count or anything... tricky. Beau looked at Clover and then pointed at the plants, making a face that he hoped she interpreted as "you ready?" and not that he was feeling sick or just making faces for the hell of it. He didn't like Survival class, that was for certain.
Naimo
Clover started gesturing via her hands; just because they couldn't speak, it didn't mean they couldn't wave their hands around like they were having some kind of panic attack (which in fairness, most people probably were. But who knows?). She waved, which was hopefully interpretted as "don't", before she moved her second and third fingers in an upside-down V shape which was meant to be "move". She finished with a quick on-the-spot jog, intending to say "fast". Now done with her message, she nodded at Beau and pointed at the planks ahead. Hopefully, he got her meaning, and would actually take it slow.
.:Abarai Renji:.
Wendy gasped quietly as they got up, as she and Ethan were faced with long planks, one for each of them, and on a few places were short hurdles. They could easily jump over them, sure, but it would be pretty hard with the planks having a distance between her and Ethan. Of course, if they just kept going straight, it should be no problem. She looked over at Ethan, and nodded slowly, as she then tried to show with her hands that he shouldn't run fast. 'I hope he got the message...' she thought to herself as they then began walking along their respective planks...
