Wendy nodded as she took note to what Norman said. As far as she could tell, Norman would be a great friend to her. She didn't know for sure how she got the feeling, however, she just knew it. Strange, she thought, as she had never felt anything on instinct before; at least not this quickly. She shrugged it off, however, as she nodded and turned to the board, taking note of the words on it. Quickly, she took a sheet of paper from her bag and scribbled down the six words. 'Aren't these the moves that the Starter Pokémon begin with? I think it's those...' she thought to herself.

Beau rummaged through his bag and pulled out a note book and a pencil so he could copy down what was on the board as well as take further notes if needed be during the class, biting his pen after he had done so.

"Welcome to your first class here at Pokémon Tech students!" Jenna exclaimed throwing her arms out a bit and smiling a warm smile to the class, her earlier annoyance over Beau and Mark seemed to have completely disappeared now. "I am Jenna Lee and I will be your teacher for this class as well as the practical battling class, which will be your second class for the day" She said, starting to stride back and forth in front of the blackboard, her poofy gray hair wobbling up and down as she paced around. "Now, can anyone tell me what these six words on the board mean?" She asked, her icy blue eyes gazing over the students through her glasses. As this was the first day for these students Jenna had actually put on some make-up, just mascara and a soft pink lip stick, but still. She had touched herself up a bit more than usual, as one should if there's something special about a day.

Ethan took out his notebook and his pencil from his bag and then began to write down the six words on the board. I know the answer to these... Ethan thought to himself as he looked at the board. Its the main moves that each of the three starter Pokemon start off with. He looked over at Rai and saw him nod somewhat, as if telling him to go ahead and answer. Ethan gulped a little and then slowly raised his hand. "U-Umm...." he slowly said.

Obviously the words on the board were the few starting attacks most young Pokemon knew. This, everyone knew. There were little differences between the attacks, and only one of the stat changing moves differentiated from the rest, and even then it was only slightly. The sad part was a few of the students were struggling to recall the words, hell, Sat only knew one of the moves on the board and even then Mark hardly found a situation to use it. In fact, he despised all of the moves on the board, for the simple fact they were all bland as could be.

Jenna looked around for a while and then pointed to a girl in one of the first rows that had raised her hand quite quickly. The girl in question had straight pink hair, reaching her shoulders, brilliant blue eyes behind a pair of perfectly circular glasses and freckles. Her uniform was very standard, all black and white, and she smiled as she was the one that got to answer the question. "Those are pokémon attacks, more precisely, the attacks of the generic starter pokémon within each region" She stated making it obvious that she had a lisp. "Those pokémon are: Charmander, Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Chikorita, Totodile, Cyndaquil, Mudki-" She continued, but was broke off by Jenna as she praised her for knowing the right answer (and wanting to escape the list of starters the girl was reciting).

"Very good, that is indeed correct.. what's your name?" Jenna said, searching for a name for a while before asking the girl with an apologetic smile, rubbing her neck a bit.

"Sally Stevenson" The pink haired girl, chirped happily, not really seeming to mind that she had been broken off from her list recitement.

"Of course the girl with a lisp has a name with several s-es in it" Jenna thought to herself, a bit amused by this and then clearing her throat to go on with teaching the class. "What Sally said is indeed correct!" She bellowed, starting to pace back and forth in the front of the classroom once more. "Now some of you may have pokémon that know one or several of these moves and some might have neither of these attacks, as the starters of these school are a bit more diverse than the pokémon received from a lab" The last part had a hint of detest connected to it as Jenna didn't very much like that labs only handed out three different types of pokémon. Even though she didn't really like the system of this school (as it was completely random) very much either, it was far better than the ones at a lab. "Now, can anyone tell me the difference between the attacks listed on the left side of the slashes and the ones on the right?" Jenna asked looking out over the class once more.

Sally's arm flew up almost instantly, but Jenna chose to ignore it for now, wanting to see if someone else knew the answer as well.

((OOC: If you want your character to respond to a question, have them raise the hand and then answer. You can of course have them answer incorrectly as well, it's only natural :D also, sorry for rule breaking... unless someone posted while I wrote this, but I want to pull the class along a bit ;D))

Ethan was a little down that he wasn't able to answer the question, but he didn't care right now. He then thought about the next question Jenna asked, the difference between the attacks on the left and the ones on the right. I know this....what was the freakin' answer?? he thought to himself. Ethan knew that Rai had one of the moves, Tail Whip. At that moment, he remembered and his hand flew up in the air. "Um..." Ethan started to say. "T-The attacks on the right deal with a Pokemon's status as in lower it's attack, defense, speed, and more. The attacks on the left deal with just brute force and inflicting damage on a wild or opponent's Pokemon."

Despite everything, Blair still ended up late to class. Mostly it was Ling's fault. He wasted a good five minutes leading Blair in a merry chase around the dorm. And whenever he managed to return him, he popped back out. He peeked in, and saw that Jenna was already teaching. And he liked battle class too. She was like the manliest woman he knew. But the class size gave him an idea. He crouched and glared at Ling. "Okay, let's make this clear from now," he whispered. "We are sneaking in. So keep quiet. The other trainers have their pokemon out, but still, keep a lid on it." He grabbed Ling's mouth just as the deerling was about to cry out again, muffling the sound. Ling just didn't have trace of obedience in him. "Shush!" he warned. Ling nodded happily. Carefully pushing the door open the slightest bit, he crawled in the class, Ling using his camouflage to good effect. As students raised eyebrows at him, he hastily pressed a finger to his lip that made praying hand, begging them to stay quiet. His target was an empty seat at the back row. Just a few more feet and he would make it.

(ooc: What, so no-one waits for Matthew to get off his lazy @$$ and sprint here? Ughy)
Matthew glanced at a watch he had on his right wrist and nearly hit the ceiling. "Flare, we gotta go!" He cried, grabbing the still eating Numel.
"Num NUMEL!" Flare protested, squirming. Matthew didn't notice, and kept running. Then stopped. "Uh.... Flare.... Do you know what the first class is? It was Battle class I THINK..... Which one?"
Flare leapt down from his hands and went for her own run, Matthew following. He had to rely on her slightly slower than his own pace. Better to be late than lost in this hige maze of a school ground.
Finally, Flare stopped, in front of the Theoritical Battle room. Matthew ushered her inside. "Uh... Sorry I'm late miss!" He chiriped, sitting down near the back. Some students glared at him for interuppting, and he could feel the power of their stares on his back. Not a pleasent way to begin his first real school morning.

"Well since this is the first day of actual classes I'll let it slip" Jenna said, motioning for Matthew to come inside and close the door. "And besides," she continued, "You actually apologized for you being late instead of trying to sneak in like the boy crawling around on the floor over there" She stated, and you could hear she was annoyed with the fact that someone was trying to trick her. "If you're trying to be sly, you can at least try to be clever about it, the fact that you thought I wouldn't notice someone crawling on the floor is quite insulting to be honest" She continued, crossing her arms over her chest and faking a pout. "Now take your seats so I can continue this class!" She ordered, her slight glare telling the late students that they better follow her advice.

"And very good, that was the correct answer!" Jenna chimed happily at Ethan's answer, her mood seeming to have flipped over a good 180 degrees in a second. "Now, some of you might think that just using brute force in a battle is enough to win" She continued on, some students grinning and nodding, which amused Jenna. "Now, that is where you're wrong!" She stated, the kids that had nodded, immediately blushing slightly and looking disappointed, "By lowering your opponent's stats you gain an advantage over them and will be able to overtake them more quickly. Of course, there are good choices for stat reducing attacks and bad ones, but that is something you'll learn by your own accord later on" She stated and then walking to her desk, picking up a bunch of papers.

"now, for next week I want you to write down the attacks of your own pokémon, whether it's a damaging attack or not and what effects the attack have if it deals with stat increasing or stat reducing" Jenna explained everything quite rapidly as she started to hand out the sheets with the assignment of it.

Homework Sheet
Study the attacks of your own pokémon, write down what type of attack it is and state if it has any effects tied to it. Remember to write your name at the top right corner of this paper!

Name of Pokémon:
Attacks:
____________
____________
____________
____________

Damaging Attacks (state any additional effects):
____________
____________
____________
____________

Status increasing/decreasing/other attacks (state the effects of these attacks):
____________
____________
____________
____________

As Jenna had handed out all of the papers she turned to the class once more and smiled. "Now, if you don't know what effects an attack have, just look in the 'Battling Handbook for Beginners' which you were handed during the introductions" She explained, which probably was needed as some of the students had been getting questioning and worried looks on their faces when reading the paper. "If you have any questions feel free to ask them now, otherwise, class dismissed!" She chimed happily, looking out over this new group of students she would be teaching for the next nine years.

Beau didn't have any questions so he placed the homework sheet inside his notebook and then placed it all in his bag, before getting out of his seat.

"Oh, and in case you had forgotten your next class will be Practical Battling so I'll be seeing you all after the break outside on the battle grounds!" Jenna added as she saw students starting ti get out of their seats and walking towards the door.

Ethan smiled as he got the answer right. Soon after the teacher handed the students their homework assignment and the Battling Handbook for Beginners, she said that the next class was Practical Battling. Ethan smiled and then stood up from his chair, put his homework in his small folder and then placed both the folder and the handbook in his bag. He slung his back over his shoulder and head and then looked at Rai. "Looks like we're gonna be battling after all!" he said with a smile.

Rai nodded slightly as the two of them walked off, following the other students.

Wendy smiled as a boy named Ethan had gotten his answer correct. 'He's a smart guy... I hope Norman is as smart as he is' she said as she received her book and nodded, putting it in her bag, along with the homework sheet. And when she heard that JEnna mentioned about questions, she shyly spoke up to say her question, before she left. "U-Uuum... I have a question." she said slowly. "I-I am not sure if I'm quite ready for the Practical Battle part... I-I don't like fighting. A-At all... b-but if I have to participate, I-I guess I could do it so it won't affect my grades..."

Clover and Chris had sat quietly throughout the class, and there was some relief when they could go at last, especially as Chris was on the verge of making some noise again. He never liked being silent for too long.

The prospect of having battling after this was somewhat dreadful; her former fears were returning, and she unconsciously found herself hugging Chris even tighter. At times, he felt more like a helpless, fluffy pillowcase wrapped around a swollen tennis ball with mechanical legs and a brain, and she loved him for his personality and overall kawaii-ness, rather than the fact that he was a good battler. If she had her way, he would never battle. She was definately looking forward to catching her first Pokemon.

She spotted Beau just ahead, and while she couldn't penertrate the human wall between them, she waited patiently until they had shuffled out of the classroom, before approaching him once again.

Mark grabbed his homework and rather quietly stuffed it in his backpack, he was excited for battling class. It would finally give him a chance to show the class who's at the head! At least when it came to battling... The class gathered outside around the battle arena, some students were excited, others were far less keen on battling. Some students were holding their Pokémon closely, as if not wanting to battle with them. Clover was one of them, Mark noticed. The teacher seemed to be looking through the crowd of students for a challenger, with a gleam in her eye she pointed to Mark, who responded with a grin befitting a Sharpedo. Mark took his place on one side of the arena, while Jenna looked for another combatant. She remembered the girl with the Shinx and smiled again, "Wendy was it? Why don't you battle Mark."

Wendy and the others were lead out outside to a battle arena, and everyone looked either excited, or worried to fight. CLover, for one, was clinging onto Chris with dear life, hoping she'd not pick, and she gasped a bit to hear that she was going to fight Mark. "M-M-Me?! B-But Miss Jenna, I..." she lowered her head and sighed, not wanting to get her grades reduced from refusing. "F-Fine, I'll do it..." she stepped up to the arena, and put down her Shinx on the arena. "I-I'll..." she suddenly looked a bit braver, the moment she stood on the battlefield, and looked straight at Mark. "I will win this fight!" Sparky noted the confidence in his trainer's voice, and got slightly confused, tilting his head as he looked at her.

"Shi?"

As the battle was sounded to begin, Wendy thought quickly about what to do, and remembered one of SParky's attacks; "SParky! Rush up to his Hoppip and use Tackle!" she called out. "Shi! Shinx!" her Shinx nodded and began rushing towards Mark's Hoppip, ready to tackle it.

Clover was relieved that she did not have to use Chris in a fight just yet. She was aware of how intent his stare was, and she figured it was probably natural for him to be focused on fights; no matter how hard she tried to reject the thought, he was a Pokemon after all, he had natural urges to battle.

"This should be interesting," Clover mumbled to herself. She had never really seen any Pokemon fights before outside of the television, let alone one between a Hoppip and a Shinx. She wasn't even sure she had seen a Hoppip before; they certainly weren't the type of Pokemon she had encountered before in that large field that belonged to the countryside.

Mark chuckled as Sat took her position on the field. The young Shinx was charging at her, but she seemed more concern with what her master was doing. She stared at him inquisitively, waiting for a command. "Sat use... Hmm... Oh! Use splash." All at once the crowd of students fell face forward into the ground. Everyone but Jenna was wondering why Mark would use such a useless move like Splash. Mark merely grinned as Sat gave a quick, "Pip!"

The Hoppip shook it's tail and bounced upward once, not gaining much height. Amusingly, she landed on Sparky's head. Mark merely continued, "Alright, follow up with Splash!" Once again the Hoppip jumped upward, forcing Sparky's head to slam down into the ground. It wasn't much damage but it was still something.

Sparky's head was slammed into the ground and dragged slightly across the grassy dirt as Sat made an unexpected move of using Splash to first land on his head, then slam him down with the same move. "S-Sparky!" Wendy gasped as she got worried, her fingers twiddling a bit. 'O-Oh no, no no no! This is bad! I'm terrible at fighting!' she worried frantically in her mind. "Sparky! C'mon, get up!" she called out to him, and the Shinx muttered a bit in his own language before getting up. "S-Shi!" he was now looking slightly angry, glaring at the Hoppip that had attacked him. This gave her an idea.

"Sparky! Use Leer!" she called out. Sparky nodded and kept on glaring at the Hoppip, trying to intimidate it. Wendy knew if the Hoppip was too scared to do anything, Sparky would have an opening. When she thought it was good enough, she called out; "NOw, Tackle!" and the Shinx once again rushed towards Sat.

Sat found herself in a stare off with Sparky, as she floated silently in the breeze. As Sparky's gaze intensified, Sat became more bothered by the Pokemon. Like, why was it staring at her so menacingly? For example. It slowly fell from the sky, it's position perfectly lined up with Sparky's tackle. He was surely going to hit at this point, but when? Mark knew the tackle would land, and sputtered out another attack. "Sat quick, Synthesis!" The Hoppip's bright green leaves began to glow an even brighter green as it began to regain it's strength.

"S-Synthesis?" Wendy said, remembering she had heard it before. 'Synthesis... Synthesis... I remember! It's a move when the Pokémon uses photosynthesis to regain its strenght! Especially used by Grass-types.' she thought, but she was still going through with the attack, which she knew would hit. "Alright! Sparky, you can get her!" she called out, and Sparky rushed a bit faster at the words of complement, soon ramming the Hoppip with all his strength - even if it was a comparably small impact - and made it tumble around a bit. "Good going!" Wendy cheered, and Sparky smiled a bit. "Shi, Shi!" he yapped happily, but kept his focus on Sat.

Clover's jaw was unconsciously dropping, and there was a slight drool coming out of the corner of Chris' mouth, purely through alacrity. Clover had never expected a real battle to be this exciting; it was certainly making her revise her opinion of avoiding battles. In fact, she was slowly being convinced that it would be rewarding. Her grip was loosening on Chris, and the Spheal had to whack a flipper against her arm in order to let her know; she started slightly, and then grasped tighter onto him again. She was growing increasingly excited with each move that was being made in the battle, and she suddenly felt very, very eager to catch Jenna's eye, and hope that she would be picked next.

"Hmmph. Since Sat was only able to use Synthesis for part of it's duration, it wasn't fully healed. Not to mention the fact it used part of it while it was at full health..." Mark made a mental note to thank his brother for the combat lessons he gave him, granted he wasn't using a much tougher Pokemon, but it was still something. As much as he could make Hoppip splash around in the wind for the rest of the match, he wanted to end it. "Alright Hoppip, finish it off, Double-Edge!" Sat complied. She got herself off from the floor and jumped upward, her leaves glowing a bright white. She charged for Sparky.

"D-DOUBLE EDGE?!" Wendy literally screamed out, being shocked to her very core that a Hoppip could use such a technique at such a low level. But she got her composure back and prepared to make Sparky counter it. "S-Sparky, dodge! Dodge now!" Sparky was too confused at the glowing leaves, and dodged the attack as good as he could by leaping to the side and rolling around on the ground.

'H-How in hell is his HOppip able to use Double Edge?! That move is too advanced for a Pokémon at that level! But how... how in... how is Mark's Pokémon able to use such a move? IT's impossible!' she thought, but still kept her confidence up. "This is bad... how should I do now? Sparky! Dodge its attacks for now! When you get an opening, use Tackle!" Sparky nodded and dodged the Hoppip's attacks, waiting for an opening.

Sat's double edge hit where the spot where Sparky once stood, but alas there was nothing. Dirt rose from the ground upon impact, and the Hoppip looked around. "What? The school gives a free TM to students with Pokemon that do not have one offensive move, in this case it was Double-Edge." More like I convinced the school with my status to give me Double-Edge. Sat was pretty bad at the move anyways, as it weighed down her leaves, forcing her to the ground. A feeling she didn't really appreciate. "Uhm... Sat, tail whip." With that the Hoppip bounced over to Sparky, attempting to land a successful tail whip. "Actually, Splash."

On her owner's whim, she hopped slightly to splash around on Sparky's head.

She was still confused as of why a Hoppip would be able to use Double Edge, and was slightly disturbed by hearing Mark's comment on her outburst. "But a move like Double Edge is way too powerful for a Hoppip to handle! Didn't you see how she was barely able to lift her wings?" she said back to him, and then focused more on the battle as Sparky once more had the Hoppip bouncing on its head. "Sparky, don't get aggravated! She is just trying to annoy you! Just shake her off and use Tackle!" Sparky nodded and shook his head while jumping around, trying to shake off the persistent Hoppip.

"I can't hear you over my Hoppip beating your Shinx." Sat took the cue from her master and hopped above Sparky, it's leaves glowing white once more. "Double-Edge one more time!" With that Sat slammed her leaves against Sparky, inflicting a devastating blow. As the smoke cleared, Sparky was laying on the ground, clearly fainted from the attack. Sat stood triumphantly on his head, letting out a mere, "Pip." Mark chuckled and motioned for Sat to return, which she did. The Hoppip nestled herself back on Mark's head. The boy walked over to Wendy.

"Nice match... Okay well, not really," With that he walked back into the crowd. "Better luck next time."

((Quick OOC: Had to cut the battle earlier. This was just to give the others an example of how it works.))
