Hunter-Seekers

Recommended Posts

I was recently inspired by Orca Mega-Fortress of Darkness, Cannonball Spear Shellfish, and Torpedo Fish to make these cards. Mollusk, Remora, and Orca were the initial re-imaginings of the cards, but the set just expanded from there into what is below. The archetype is based off of naval warfare, and they fit rather well into a WATER deck, especially with such cards as Skreech and Nimble Sunfish.

Hunter-Seeker Mine Puffer
WATER/Fish/1/400/400
When this monster is sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by a card effect, you may Special Summon this monster in Attack Position. When this monster declares an attack, during the Battle Step, you may send this monster to the Graveyard to inflict 600 points of damage to your opponent's Life Points.

Hunter-Seeker Armor Piercing Mollusk
WATER/Fish/2/800/800
When this monster is sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by a card effect, you may Special Summon this monster in Attack Position. When this monster declares an attack, during the Battle Step, you may send this monster to the Graveyard to destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field.

Hunter-Seeker Stealth Remora
WATER/Fish/3/1200/1200
When this monster is sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by a card effect, you may Special Summon this monster in Attack Position. When this monster declares an attack, during the Battle Step, you may send this monster to the Graveyard to destroy 1 monster on the field.

Hunter-Seeker Recovery Squid
WATER/Aqua/4/1000/0
Once per turn, you may select up to 2 "Hunter-Seeker" monsters in your Graveyard. Shuffle the selected monsters into your Deck.

Hunter-Seeker Patrol Dolphin
WATER/Aqua/4/1500/0
Whenever a Fish-Type "Hunter-Seeker" declares an attack, during the Battle Step, you may send 1 "Hunter-Seeker" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard to select 1 WATER monster in your Graveyard. Shuffle the selected monster into your Deck.

Hunter-Seeker Depth Charge Hermit Crab
WATER/Aqua/Tuner/1/0/0
FLIP: Send 1 WATER monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, then draw 1 card. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle after being flipped face-up, destroy the monster that destroyed this card.

Hunter-Seeker Decoy Angler
WATER/Aqua/Tuner/4/500/0
When you Special Summon a "Hunter-Seeker" monster from the Graveyard, you may Special Summon this card from your hand. During your Battle Phase, your opponent cannot activate the effects of Spell, Trap, or Monster Cards when a "Hunter-Seeker" monster declares an attack.

Hunter-Seeker Cruiser Orca
WATER/Aqua/Synchro/5/2000/0
1 WATER Tuner + 1 or more WATER monsters
When this monster is Synchro Summoned, if any of the Synchro Material Monsters used to Synchro Summon this monster are "Hunter-Seeker" monsters, you may Special Summon them from the Graveyard in Defense Position. Once per turn, you may send 1 WATER monster from your Deck to the Graveyard to draw 1 card.

Sweeping Sonar
Spell/Continuous
When you Special Summon a "Hunter-Seeker" monster from your Graveyard, you may select a face-down card on the field and turn it turned face-up, then return it to its original positions. No card effect(s) are activated when a card is turned face-up.

Target Lock
Trap/Counter
Activate only when your opponent activates a Spell, Trap, or Monster Card effect in response to the declaration of an attack with a "Hunter-Seeker" monster. Negate the effect and shuffle the card into your opponent's Deck.

Smart Hunter-Seekers
Trap/Normal
Select a "Hunter-Seeker" monster that has been selected as an attack or effect target by your opponent. Remove the selected "Hunter-Seeker" monster from play. During your next Standby Phase, Special Summon the selected "Hunter-Seeker" monster.

Long-Range Deployment
Spell/Normal
Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower WATER monster in your hand, then send 1 WATER monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.

Please let me know if I made any OCG errors, and let me know how I can make them better.
Feel free to even come up with some additional cards for the archetype!

cool!

these cards seem balanced but i don't get this effect < When this monster declares an attack, you may send this monster to the Graveyard to ( effect).>

lets say Hunter-Seeker Stealth Remora attacks a monster with a higher attack like junk warrior

does the effect activate before damage calculation basically sending your monster before any battle damage is inflicted to activate its effect.
witch would destroy junk warrior before you take any battle damage.

that seems Kinda broken.

other then that it seems balanced.

Edited. They activate their effects during the Battle Step, before damage calculation.
But would your opponent be able to still activate a Trap before the attack? Because the effect doesn't chain against traps like Sakuretsu Armor and Mirror Force, or at least it's not supposed to activate before your opponent activates a Trap in response to your attack declaration.

the trap's would activate in response to a Hunter-Seeker attacking. so i guess it does seem balanced....

anyway i would like to post this spell card

Deep-sea Salvage Mission
Spell/Normal Spell
Effect: Remove 1 Water monster in your hand from play. Then select 5 Water monsters with 1500 ATK and add them to your deck. If a Water monster is sent from your deck to the graveyard. Add this card from your graveyard to the deck and draw 1 card.

its basically a Water based pot of avarice with a Hunter-Seeker based recovery tactic.

Please give credit to me for this card.

Thank you.
