Not to offend you, but the first one has several fairly big issues. First of all, the rings in the top right-hand corner is extremely distracting. You may have been throwing that in to use as the light source but it lights noting up. Just remove the rings. Another thing is that you oversharpened it as well. You need to create depth by having a less ahrp background than the render and it makes the render stand out more. To create some light in your tag put a ball of light on the staff with a soft brush and set to like soft light or screen. Try and darken the areas that are farther from the light source. One thing to remember is that if you are new to GFX then you should probably stay away from text. Throw that in once you get used to the other things. Now moving on to the other tag....

Again with the depth. Just blur the C4D background. You also over-sharpened the tag again. Lower the sharpening. Another idea to do could be to lower the brightness of your tags. They all seem to be very bright. To create a better light source. I would erase any light source if any and soft brush on the hand and above the head. You should make it blend more by maybe smudging it. Just work on this.

does any of you know where i can get some backgrounds for the tags?

I get my backgrounds from google, deviantart, and GFX sites.
BtW for your tag, never use two focals. Just stick to one. Makes it harder to create a nice tag.

Where to start?

First off, USE LESS DIMENSIONS.
When you are new to tag making it is wise to not bite off more than you can chew; use a canvas that you can work with like 400 x 150.
Start small and work your way up. And artist takes his/her tools and works with them to make a piece, they do not slap on a couple of c4d's and fracs and call it a tag.
This is what you did. There is simply too much going on within both tags, nothing is blending.
It has gotten to the point where you now have two separate focal points. (2nd tag).
