Naimo
Are there going to be opportunities to have more Pokemon as the RP progresses? And if so, will it be through free(er) choice, or is it gonna be randomised again like our starters were?
fenrir
Yes and yes. You will be able to get other Pokémon. Some are randomized, others are out of free choice. The randomized ones are the ones that by default you will have to add to your team. The ones you pick don't actually have to be caught. Beating a gym leader, for example, nets you the ability to catch one Pokémon in that area. However you don't have to even beat the gym leader in the first place, thus you don't have to catch that Pokémon.
Naimo
Right... the free choice bit has confused me though; could you give me an example as to what you mean?
Super Chaos Sonic
OK Rarity, just you aren't confused...Ethan's roommate is Blair, since he is the only one that hasn't made an appearance...^^;
Master Red
the school will hand out more pokémon later on and then as rarity said you can get permission slips to catch pokémon in certain areas by beating a gym leader. However, it's entirely up to you if you even want to try to beat a gym laeder for that slip of paper granting you one pokémon from an area. All in all, we'll make sure you have at least 6 pokémon upon graduation
Naimo
So basically, if I don't beat a gym leader, I can't catch a Pokemon of my own choice?
Master Red
You might be able to catch one in "the garden" regardless, me and Rarity are discussing if the gyms should give different perks instead of all of them just being catching permissions. Naimo
OK then I quite like having this randomised feature, it makes things more exciting xD do you use a generator for this?
Master Red
I really enjoy the randomness as well, makes it a whole lot more interesting IMO as you can't start the RP with a team planned out in your mind and have to learn to appreciate whatever you've been given Yes we have a way to generate what we're going for (how we do it is a secret however ;D)
Naimo
Oh OK; I was gonna say, if you use an online generator, I'd love to have the link. I unfortunately always go for the usual Ice-type and any other Pokemon that catches my fancy, and frankly, it's getting a bit boring. I just hope my next random pick is something I've never heard of/rarely used ^^
fenrir
@Chaos: I realize. :P The randomization lets you appreciate the more common/ignored Pokemon. Or it could net you a cool/uncommon one. It varies. Tourneys will be the only way to get a Dragon/Steel/Ghost type though. Okay well, the only way so far. You have to either reach either First/Second/Third, respectively. Naimo
Well, to be fair, I haven't really had a character who has a Spheal in ages, so it's nice to have it again. Besides, my heart has been fully captured by another Ice-type - Cubchoo. They are sooooo adorable if I ever get one, I'm never evolving it into Beartic. On another note, having a Spheal has allowed me to be very fangirly, to the point that I keep reading 'Thick Fat' as 'The Thick Of It'. :3 *looks innocent*
Super Chaos Sonic
@Naimo: Cubchoo is very cute. I'd agree with not evolving it...^^
Master Red
@Naimo, we don't have a pokémon generator per-se but we have a way to use a generator in a way to decide the random pokémon Also, me and Rarity are working out the exact ways to get pokémon (random or not) and when they are aquireable. The Gyms might be changed a bit so not all of them award catching permissions, they might hand out items and stuff instead :>
Naimo
Re last post; yep, I have actually thought ahead and my Pokemon are going to be veeeery subtly themed, regardless of what species they are, so I'm ready with whatever you throw at me :3 (If anyone can get the theme, I'll be impressed )
Master Red
I guess you mean for names? Because you'll be able to control the outcome for like... 1-2 pokémon for your team also, your characters will be able to have talents (not powers, talents) connected to pokémon, such as breeding, capturing, coordinating, battling etc. anything you can think of that isn't terribly OP really ^^ (ofc they can have a knack for math or something non pokémon related if you so wish)
fenrir
^ You'll get an example of a talent very soon. Depending on next class.
Master Red
You have something planned or are you reffering to your own/my character's?

Master Red
I would guess Axis of Awesome and Top Gear but that might be too obvious? Anyways, I will probably not be responding more today as I'm going out with friends tonight, I'll probably be available all day tomorrow (due to obvious reasons *cough*)
Naimo
I'm not doing AOA or TG; the former, I'm doing somewhere else, the latter I will only do if I had full control of my team (and besides, I'm getting a bit fed up of it). I honestly don't think you'll get it though (let's just say it's sort of due to cultural differences) ... unless you're so dedicated you start researching... *innocent whistle*
