Thanks for the rep FTW

and welcome to the club Maha!

@Deathly, the topic was about the eye movie but it kinda skidded into pop culture usage of pagan icon on christian's holiday like the easter bunny and santa claus so I guessing a new topic so thanks to Maha, the new topic should be about local ghost or myth and I think I saw a pocong movie once with my friends but never remember if I saw it all the way through.

oh and FTW, sorry if I'm trying be the boss, didn't mean to step in your shoes dude..

Now I remember, I saw pocong 2 earlier this year with my friends.

According to the native beliefs, the soul of a dead person will stay on the earth for 40 days after the death. When the ties aren't released after 40 days, the body is said to jump out from the grave to warn people that the soul need the bonds to be released. After the ties are released, the soul will leave the earth and never show up anymore. Because of the tie under the feet, the ghost can't walk. This causes the pocong to hop.

It's a little weird but at least it's better then the floating vampire head ghost.

You right Nexus, the story is almost like as you said.

Where you live Nexus??

Floating Vampire head ghost??

@FTW : Actually it's also fake.. Pocong never show us a Proper Face Shape. And the eyes usually radiate some kind of Green or Red laser.

sorry, my bad then. It was 2 years ago...

but about the penanggal may be either a beautiful old or young woman who obtained her beauty through the active use of black magic, supernatural, mystical, or paranormal means which are most commonly described in local folklores to be dark or demonic in nature. Another cause where one becomes a Penanggal in Malaysian folklore is due to the result of a powerful curse or the actions of a demonic force, although this method is less common than the active use of black magic. The Penanggalan is usually a female midwife who has made a pact with the devil to gain supernatural powers. It is said that the midwife has broken a stipulation in the pact not to eat meat for 40 days; having broken the pact she has been forever cursed to become a bloodsucking vampire/demon. The midwife keeps a vat of vinegar in her house. After detaching her head and flying around in the night looking for blood the Penanggalan will come home and immerse her entrails in the vat of vinegar in order to shrink them for easy entry back into her body.

I was 16 when I was told about the legend of penanggal so basically I think it's quite funny at the time but the pocong and the puntianak's tale were kinda famous in malaysia but mainly by the old citizen.

@Nexus you know the creature your talking about reminds me of that one chick who was on the first episode you know the one who was all seductive to attract men who were driving and then kill them.

There's been a few stories about ghost and poltergeist here in Minnesota in fact there's a whole website filled with them, here it is: http://theshadowlands.net/places/minnesota.htm

By far the only one I find interesting is the one about the tunnels with wailing spirits in it that are under the Anoka Hospital!

The Pontianak, Kuntilanak, Matianak or "Boentianak"=same thing different name in different region.

and Smashsquatch, I think that's the lady in white I think, she hitchhike's with someone and they would gone missing . Here in chicago we have the hatchet lady, it's like the famous symbolism ghost around town..I don't know why but usually the most famous ghost are always female... but in new mexico there's also a hatchet lady...although it's almost identical, both have different back story
