Alex Kemper
Note: Before you begin, my characters Deck contains several of the cards I have made. I'll give some brief descriptions when I use them, but for the full deal, go to this link http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii45/Alejandro_Kemperez/?start=0and you can see what I have posted to keep up with what all the cards do. Now, to Camelot! Name: Carl PorschesteinAge:17Height:6'5"Weight: 210lbsHair: Brown and shaggyEyes: Hazel Clothes: Subject to change August 14th, 2007 Carl was running through downtown St. Louis, an eager expression on his face as he charged down the cobblestone streets, his pack slapping his back. He was heading down to the Arch grounds in order to participate in a preliminary tournament round that he was lucky enough to have been selected for. He wasn't the only one of course, he was just one of four hundred people who had been selected to participate in this round. If he won, he would get flown off to Berlin to compete in the next round. He had been working on his deck for most of the night before, trying to perfect his combos and getting his levels right. Carl figured that he had a good balance of cards in his deck now, but he wasn't sure. He would find out soon though. He got to the Arch at 12:23 PM and he wasn't the only one. It seemed that everyone that was supposed to be there was there, but he wasn't sure. As he meandered around, Carl saw one of his friends sitting on the wall in front of the Arch reading a book. "Hey Sebastian!" Carl shouted as he ran over to the other person. Sebastian looked up as Carl ran towards him, closing his book and brushing a strand of his brown hair out of his face. "What's up Carl?" Sebastian asked, not getting off of the wall. He was twenty as well, but he was a bit smaller than Carl, though not by much. "You here for the prelims too?" "Yeah, I guess we just have to wait for them to pair us off now. What deck are you going to use?" "That my friend, is going to be a secret," Sebastian said as the loudspeakers activated. A male voice proclaimed that they all needed to file inside the Arch in order to be paired. "See you inside," Carl shouted over the sea of people that separated him from his friend. He joined in the east leg line, slowly funneling into the cooler underground. After around fifteen minutes of slowly stepping forward, he was finally paired off with someone named Zach Morris. His duel was set to start five minutes after he was assigned his opponent in the museum area. Carl wandered into the museum and found that there was only one person in it. "So, you must be Zach?" Carl asked tentatively. "That's me," Zach said. He stood at a solid six feet, with curly brown hair and what appeared to be an attempt at facial hair. "You ready?" Zach had a Duel Disk strapped to his arm, his deck already set inside nice and snug. Carl pulled out his from his pack along with his deck, slapping it in and powering it up. "Let's get this party started!"
Aozora
I don't think posting a prologue with no dueling is a very effective way to get people to read your story. Don't get me wrong, it's good - I just feel kinda let down that there weren't any duels. Without that, I can't really tell how good you are a wirting duels, and that doesn't really inspire me to come back... But I will. It's just a suggestion, after all. Alex Kemper
The duel is taking some time. So far it's a page and a half on word, and it's only a third done.
