Critical Faliure

DK looked around at everything. Two guys were being noble while another was being a complete jerk. And of course Grey had to butt in and try to be all witty. DK simply sighed at it all. "Oi! Kris! Did the computer tell us anything useful? Or can I bust it up?" he asked while hefting his axe. So far, he had chosen to keep his axe visible and ready to use. "Also, if we are going to get out of here, we are going to need to work together!" DK said to everyone. "That means no threats, no name calling, no shoving, and all that other good stuff. Except for me. I'm allowed to do that because that's who I am and we have all accepted that. Any questions?"

'Yes, I have a question' Broken stated, his gaze on DK's legs.

This would be interesting, and a little fun to boot. 'What is that book trying to do to your legs?' he inquired innocently.

Naturally there wasn't anything there, but knowing this particular thug, he would totally flip out at even the thought of one of those books attacking him. In fact, it may even be scientifically fascinating to see how he reacts to it; I mean, come on, who develops a phobia for books anyways? And besides, if he made himself out to be a jerk, what's a little humiliation anyways?

"Eh?" DK replied with a confused look on his face. "I don't feel anything on my leg?" DK quickly looked down ready to swing his. At his legs...was...nothing. "I told ye there wasn't anything there!" DK yelled at Broken. "I just said we needed to trust each other and ye go and flat out lie to me!" DK glared at Broken and gripped his axe tighter. He then turned to Kris and said, "I can't believe I'm going to say this, but I'm going to. Kris, I trust you more than I do this ass over here! Just keep the damn book away from me!" he said to Kris. He then noticed a non-magical book on the ground and picked it up. "Oi! The Dead-Tossed Waves! I love this book!" DK then sits down and begins reading it.

"Well Grey that sounds like some very logical and hopeful thinking there," Xel responded to Grey, very pleased with the watchful eye of the furry, "but don't get your hopes up. I've never seen viruses that haven't searched and destroyed something, but then again, there's always a first." He looked over to DK and shouted, "I know, I didn't raise a fist. I'm only telling the worst case scenario instead of the best because we don't want to get our hopes up, do we? I'm no sadist, I'm a realist. It's not my fault if others don't like the reality of the situation." Xel kept scanning the room for a way out, none, none at all. Well, none that were accessible.

Broken shrugged nonchalantly, this guy waqs so simple. 'Truth, lies; when you get down to the brass bones of it all they're pretty much the same thing. I can sometimes be a little tricksy, but then, I'll guess you'll just have to deal with that, as it's who I am; you'll just have to accept that' he said somewhat smugly, having repeated part of the oaf's speech.

Not caring for retaliation, Broken checked the terminal. It would seem the viruses were breaking in further; now, what do you use to combat viruses? Broken thought for a little, before the little light went off. 'Activate the anti-virus defences' he typed into the console.

"Dont need that." Kris said, brushing Broken aside as he looked at the Answers to his Queries. Take us to the nearest, Virus free, Terminal, and Hurry. Also, if you can, run a Scan for another Avatar. We dont know much about this guy, but he seems to have been here for a long time. Find him, and send the Co-ordinates/Directions to the Terminal you send us to. Kris typed, quickly. He sighed and turned around to face the others, his anger having been brushed aside, his ink from his pen Cleaned and his pen being dropped into his pocket, and his eyes closed. He sighed again and, taking a deep breath, before opening his eyes. "This Terminal can take us to a Safer Terminal, and fast. I dont know where this Terminal is, but I've made sure it was Virus free, and hopefully we'll be able to find this 'Messenger', whoever he is. We find him, and we've got a much better chance of Surviving, and maybe he'll know if Itsu, Vicky and the others survived." Kris stated, awaiting whatever the Terminal was going to do.

On the screen, a three maps of the node (or city, depending on which you preferred) popped up. Two were a flat two dimensional images, showing the city from above and the cross-section . The third was a three dimensional image showing the entire city in all its distressing complexity. One thing they had in common, was the large masses of red that highlighted more half the complex. Most was limited to the surface an the upper two or three sub-levels, though it was deeper in several places. The 2D pictures faded the the 3D one projected from the wall a feet feet to the left of the terminal. The city was outlined in white with damages in red and purple masses marking viruses. There was as lot of purple.

>Firewall and Barrier raised to full strength
>Breach repaired
>Powering up active defenses
>>58% of AntiVirus cannons offline
>>Purge Shock failed to remove 47% of viral force
>>Launching Drone Swarm
>>Deploying Sentinel, Guardians and Archive Construct

On the 3D image, gold sparkles and blue dots moved from several different rooms (including a large one with some red that was most likely the archives) and into the purple areas. Slowly, the purple was forced back. Several small windows popped up to show the combating forces. Grey watched those with interest. "Cool, show's on."

Aside from the virus/program conflict, tags popped up on the map, marking terminals. They were all in purple areas.
