New opening and ending are called "Soul Drive" retrospective "Wild Child"
53 has the same preview as 52, which does raise some doubts.

Tron vs Droite: Did I or did I call that?

V against Kaito though does not make me too happy. So V, after all his mysterious buildup, is just going to lose immediately and end up like III.
That V might be Kaito's mentor sounds legit, and rather interesting. And if the other preview is true, Butterfly Assassins may get more support.
Butterfly support is great and just what I wanted. If only Bouncers would return too. Maybe TCG extension they will. Hopefully.
This all sounds really interesting, especially the part about V being Kite's mentor. And I'm really thinking that Gauche is Kazuma for some reason. I wonder what Number 9's effect is?
I've been saying that since Gauche debuted 25 episodes ago. But I forget to mention that about 48. Kazuma appearing inside the key, I was all 'WHAT? BUT? WHAT?'

Still, they're too similar in look and personality to not be related. Clone of Kazuma maybe.

Hopefully 9 will be epic. I'm guessing Tron must have one too, and a powerful one...

I noticed a few things recently.

III referred to Number 6 as the power he received from Tron. Number 6 is an OOPArt. I earlier noted with distaste how III and IV seem to have archetype-specific Numbers. But that line may suggest that they're part of the archetypes not because they're "designed" by III and IV when they found the Numbers, but possibly because of Tron somehow.

Tron probably does have Numbers, but by this time, the Tron family should be almost out of Numbers, if my earlier thoughts were correct. In episode 33 (I think), IV threw a handful of cards at the duelist applications, roughly 7 cards. V took one of them and gave it to III, telling him to give that Number to Shark. I theorized that those cards were all their Numbers. Since then, III and IV have been seen with, not counting Number 32, 4 different Numbers. If V really does have Number 9, and Tron has 1 or more, then yeah, that fits my earlier theory.

We don't really know V's role yet. For all we know, the duel wont affect V's role or the WDC's turnout, and there's probably going to be some plot explanation(s) soon.

When IV and V had a brief confrontation, V said something to the effect that it wasn't his time to act and collect Numbers, which IV didn't seem to like. If V is just going to get crushed by Kaito and nothing else other than exposition, it makes him anti-climactic.

But don't forget, V is the one who kidnapped Haruto and seems to have a lot of knowledge about Yuma's dad and Kaito himself. Which is why being his mentor seems likely, if not cool. But V also still has a crest, so he probably won't get a Photon Hand, and his role in the plot won't be vastly diminished. On that note, I have no idea how anyone is going to get the Tron family's Numbers. Kaito and Yuma beat III and IV and couldn't do a thing, and Yuma's probably going to beat III again to get his last Heart Piece, but what of the Numbers? Will III hand them over, like he did when Shark beat him?

Also, I noted none of the previews reference Astral, so he's probably going to be gone for a while. Which makes me wonder whether Yuma will collect Numbers at all, or what may happen if he loses a Number Duel. Astral's disappearance would actually provide an opening for Yuma to lose Duels, although not to Kaito. Kaito uses Photon Hand, after all.

This being Yu-Gi-Oh!, it won't happen, but I hope the writers dont ignore the opportunity. I felt episode 48 was a bit odd in how quickly the III brainwashing was resolved. I assume it's because they realized Yuma was so uninterestingly pathetic and so it was just to get rid of Astral and make Yuma more independant.

Ah, did I mention Yuma getting pissed was awesome? Seriously, it's one of the characters you wouldn't expect to snap like that. A shame his catchphrase really doesn't seem to work well as a war cry. Sadly, he didn't get possessed by a Number.

And speaking of Numbers, does he have the others still? The Emperor's key still had their numbers, but does Yuma actually have them in his possession, or just Number 39? What happened to the others? It had earlier been established Yuma only has them when Astral is with him, which is why Astral getting trapped in the Emperor's Key by Number 96 came at a terrible time during the Gauche and Droite Duel.

Like you said, Yuma has access to Numbers when Astral is about, otherwise the seem to be sealed in the key. He got Hope back in the same way as the Driote Gauche duel.

Bit if V loses to Kaito, that will be six duels featuring III, IV and V. Record of 5 losses and 1 win. Against jobbers Tetsuo and class rep. <_<

With that sort of a record its kinda hard to take them seriously as villans. No matter how evil they act at times, if they lose every duel they are involved it just gets so what?

inb4ThisIsYGOBaddiesLoseAllTheTime: Look at Yubel, right off the top of my head. Beat Zane, beat Adrian who had in turn beat Aster. That's just off the top of my head. They weren't jobbers as such, they were proven as seriously capable opponents and beating them really got Yubel over as a terrifying baddie.

True. It can be difficult to balance a villain's credibility as a threat as well as keep a plot moving. The problem is that Kaito is probably still supposed to be the "toughest" opponent for Yuma. Having V beat Kaito could ruin the entire plot of the Kaito vs Yuma rivalry, which has been emphasized so frequently. Then again, Kaito views Astral as his real rival.

But having V lose wouldn't add to Kaito's credibility because Kaito already has that credibility. But for Kaito to lose with Neo Galaxy? Um...that'd be insulting.

And then it went back to 50 episodes again... (All previews deleted)
Previews are fake? Too bad. I was looking foward to Yuma and Anna tag dueling. My theory is Gauche might be Kazuma's brother or cousin, and just never met Yuma. I have a feeling Astral will return, and III's Crest will fail because he went all monster and his powers are at their limit. Without the Crest, Astral will take 33 and 6. I'm hoping someday we will see Revise, Volcansaurus, Shock Ruler, Galaxy Queen, Big Eye, Tera-Byte, and all the other Numbers that have pretty much been forgotten by the writers. I mean we know Yuma has AT LEAST 3 Numbers other than Hope is his Extra Deck. Big Eye, Tera-Byte, and Revise. Yet he never uses them.....

Well, I'm assuming Astral has to come back in 49 somehow, so that he and Yuma can go into thier combined form for Zexal Weapon. I'd have thought anyway.

Would actually be disappointed if the previews were fake, as there was some good stuff in there (even if the duel coaster sounded weird at first, the idea of card games on rollercoasters suddenly began to appeal in the preview write up when it involved strategy). The match ups of the last eight of Driote vs Tron, Kaito vs V, Shark vs IV and Yuma vs Gauche made sense too. It's just that... are we really going straight to a last eight?

I mean, this has been billed as a huge tourney with interest world over, and attracting loads of people with Numbers. Yet somehow we're going into the finals and only eight people have complete Heart Pieces; 3 in Heartland's setup, 3 from Tron's Family, Yuma, and Shark, who other than his rivalry with Yuma must feel like the oddest of odd ones out.

That and we've been given no indication of Shark, Driote and Gauche picking up any Numbers, so I dunno where the duelists who had them all went. Unless Kaito did them all in, which would suck as we'll never get chance to see them at all.

My guess is Astral will come back. My hopes are there will be more than 8 finalists. I have a feeling these FallGuys have Numbers. I doubt Kaito's managed to get 75+ Numbers is a 3 day period. Even if Gauche, Droite, and possibly Shark were getting Numbers as well, I'm sure that there are plenty Numbers Holders left. Who knows, Shark beat what, 10-20 people just for the heck of it? Maybe someone he dueled was a Numbers Holder. I'm sure Gauche and Droite have at least 1 Number each. If we don't see all of Kaito's Numbers in the anime, we might see the rest in the manga. Remember, the spoilers for 50 kind of say that there are still Numbers Holders. We MIGHT see Kaito use a Number or 2. Sadly, since he's probably just going to focus on summong GEPD then going for NGEPD, I kind of doubt it..... Besides, Kaito has to recharge his Photon Mode. Unless he was hunting nonstop, without eating or sleeping, or unless he can use Photon Change without recharging somehow. That being said, all of those are unlikely. My guess he's gained anywhere from 4-9 Numbers. As for what we know.....

Yuma- 39, 17, 34, 83, 61, 19, 12, 11, 16, 96, 7, 25 ( 50 and 91 in the manga only )
Kaito- 10, 20, 30, 56, at anywhere from ten to twenty unseen Numbers
V- 9 ( most likely has at least one other Number )
IV- 15, 40
III- 33, 6
Shark- 32
Tron- ? ( Tron family has probably 8-10 Numbers total. They gave one to Shark, IV and III have two each, V has at least one. Thats at least six. So they don't have too many Numbers that we haven't seen left.
Gauche and Droit- ( supposing they have one each. )

It'd be WAY too ambitious to wrap up all the Numbers in this season. The point of the WDC was to gather more duelists with Numbers, making Kaito's hunting more efficient. While Mr. Heartland said that if Kaito wins, he'll have most of the Numbers, the key word remains "most", and it's actually rather unlikely all the Numbers are in the WDC area.

This plan was made back in episode 14, anyway, when Kaito having 11 Numbers by that time was considered extremely impressive.

Are you suggesting he has 20+ Numbers? If Kaito he does have more than 20 Numbers....... I'm not so sure if we'll see all his Numbers anymore......

Kaito used Illumiknight and Brilliant just to show off. He used Acid Golem because he predicted Shark would try and take control of it. I HIGHLY doubt Kaito would ever use Goldrat......

Actually, no, I was saying that Mr. Heartland's estimation was ambitious, as it was based on Kaito making excellent progress at the beginning.
Ah. I see. Now that I think of it, do you think Mr. Heartland and Dr. Faker have Numbers?

I think Dr. Faker might have at least 1, because main antagonists always have a key of the plot, something that prevents the protagonists/secondary antagonists from accomplishing their respective goals without confronting him. I dont think Mr. Heartland does, though.

It's the same reason I eventually concluded Droite and Gauche dont have any: Eventually, it'd mean Kaito would have to claim their Numbers. And Kaito uses Photon Hand. Possessing a Number while working alongside a guy whose method of taking Numbers involves stealing your soul seems like a really bad idea.

And Kaito hates Mr. Heartland. I don't think even Mr. Heartland would want to carry a card that will inspire Kaito to hunt him.

Episode 49 tomorrow in Japan.

Just noticed something; the half completed bridge Yuma and III are duelling on, is that the same area in duelled Shark in episode 10?

Wow Heartland builders are quite slow.

Imagine there will be two more 25 epsiode arcs of this season/story/whatever. One to cover the WDC Finals and one to cover the final battles between Tron/Faker and so on. Obviously not every Number will be seen by that time, but I'm sure they'll want to make a seond series eventually.

No, it's not the same. Shark and Yuma dueled by water, but this spot is significantly higher.

That seems to assume that Zexal will only have about 100 episodes.

Ah right.

Yeah, of this series with Faker and Tron as the major antagonists. Like the first part of 5D's was 60 something.

Would make sense if they did something like that. 100 Numbers and all.

Okay, so I watched the raw version of episode 49.

Why is these end of season episodes are so surreal?
-Yuma does attempt the strategy I predicted with Chaos Number 39 and Overlay Eater. It is countered.
-Evidently, Tron also gave III a Trap card that negated one of Yuma's counter plays, but also did...some really surreal stuff that I didnt entirely follow.
-Tron seems like a tremendous a****** in this episode, due to how malicious his card(s) seem to be in regards to real damage, and his evident disinterest in the results.
-III gives Yuma some of his crest's power so that Astral can be revived. This seems to be he realized how much damage and danger was involved in the power he received and wants it undone.
-Astral and Yuma Overlay and use the new Zexal Weapon for game.
-III gives up both his Numbers and Heart Piece. His personality seems to have been restored.
-Tron seems genuinely concerned about III at the end of the episode, but seems to be gathering a grudge towards Yuma
-Next episode seems to include a (brief?) confrontation between Kaito and V. Plus evidently Tron's going to appear.
