[/quote] No, it was right before the Numbers appeared, based on whatever sub I saw WAY back when the first episodes came out (no guarantee the translations were right). Shark was mocking Yuma's attitude towards the (broken) Emperor's key, saying something about he couldn't win because of his dependance on it, and when Yuma glared at him, Shark added something like "I just had a good idea. When I win, I'll tear your deck apart." Yuma got mad, then went into one of his now classic rants about how he'll never give up, and broke the pendant string, which glowed, fixed itself, and released the Numbers after he opened that door. We got a good reason why Kaito/Astral didn't get Numbers, plus III seeing Astral was awesome. V gets more badass everytime he appears on screen. And everything with Rokujuro schooling Yuma was better than expected. Things are starting to fall into place... [/quote] When asked a while back which episodes were crucial to watch when catching up, 7 and 8 were labeled as "Don't bother watching". My opinion has not changed. I like Fuya to some degree, and I like his Deck. But he was unimportant. I even remember one person saying that they dont put random one-time characters in openings, and Fuya/Robin was featured just before Shark and Kaito in the first opening. Fuya did not reappear for over 30 episodes. And it'll be a one-episode duel against Gauche. Um...yeah. I'm not seeing what part of my opinion a couple months back was wrong. At least other characters then (Ukyo, Cathy, Tokunosuke) came back to be close friends or otherwise seen more than once. After seeing the subs for episode 44, I'm much more pleased with ithe episode. It explains much more about characters, and hints at some very important information, such as Dr. Faker evidently having some sort of relationship to Yuma's dad, and Rokujuro and his grandma know of him. So he's not just a behind-the-scenes villain that other villains and antagonists work with/bear a grudge against. He is more important than that. Though there was one thing that had been troubling me slightly, but I think it may have been a slight subbing error from episode 26. In episode 26, during the conversation with Kaito, Mr. Heartland, and Gauche, Kaito made a comment about "No one being an enemy", which I for some reason interpreted as more saying that he doesn't consider anyone attending the tournament to be someone he has to despise. Gauche commenting about his strong spirit was interpreted as saying he's good-hearted. But in episode 42-44, Kaito seems to have changed his tune to "Everyone with Numbers is an enemy, I don't care who they are, I'll take them all down, even Yuma." So I rewatched 26 and determined that it may have been a slight sub error, but the context of the dialogue does not suggest what I originally thought. Gauche had just said to Kaito that if he can't do it, Gauche will collect the Numbers, and Kaito makes a comment about no one being an enemy, which Gauche replies about his strong spirit. More likely, the line was supposed to be interpreted as "I'm not worried that anyone will be able to beat me. No one can rival my strength", which would make Kaito look super-confident, hence, a strong spirit. Ah, me and my tangents. On a completely different tangent, has anyone ever noticed or been BOTHERED by the fact that D-Gazers go on the left eye? No seriously, this had been bugging me forever. Starting from episode 13, when Kaito first went into Duel Mode, I noticed his Disk looked extremely awkward when it shifted into the blade mode, the monster slots looking a bit...weird. But I later realized that's because it's on his left arm (as all Duel Disks are), but the angle of viewing was unusual for activating Duel Disks. Later, I abruptly noticed that Kaito's D-Gazer appears on his LEFT eye, and you see it on your right side, similar to looking in a mirror. Then I realized that this seems to have been deliberate. Characters are always viewed at a certain angle. The protagonist always stands on the "right-hand" side of the screen, whereas the antagonist/secondary protagonist stands on the left, unless they do the angle back to front (Fuya vs Yuma), where the villain will be in the back of the room. Why does this bug me? Most likely because I'm right handed. Putting the D-Gazer on my left eye would be extremely awkward, because I focus more through my right eye (yes, this doesn't really make much sense). Same with headphones with microphone (which I do have, I just dont use the microphone part). If I wanted to use the microphone, I'd want it on my right side. So when you look at characters, the D-Gazer is on the viewer's right side, but the character's left eye. Looks somewhat natural, but I would hate actually trying to USE it. And all characters are right handed. Only a few characters (7, I think) in Yugioh HISTORY were not right handed, and 6 of them were closely associated (Bruno, Placido, Lucciano, Jose, Aporia, Paradox, and Z-ONE) and one character in GX seemed to be ambidextrous, because he switched which arm his Duel Disk was on mid-duel (filer character) without any difficulty drawing. [/quote] I was actually thinking about the discussion on Kaito and Shark being skilled, and I realized that Cathy is really good also. Against Dog-chan, she was able to survive the first-turn Smoking Dog, set up her own win condition, and even use Dog's effect to her advantage with Counter Nyanter. Also, my Kaito vs. Shark debate is kinda back when I remembered that Shark is the only character cool enough to defeat a Number (2 actually) without using Numbers himself.
