Northern Sage
Watched ep. Was hilarious in many ways
40 or 41?
evilfusion
Just watched 40 subbed. It's a pretty good episode, and of course, I look forward to seeing episode 41 within a few hours. (That's the average time on Monday that the raw is available).
Northern Sage
Dat wiki preview. Number 33 pretty much confirmed.
evilfusion
Just saw 41 raw. It's mostly plot, but the very concept of III and IV in a tag duel against Yuma and Kaito is epic, as is the four of them doing their respective Duel changes in succession (amused that Yuma is totally the odd man out in that one). IceDorago
40 subbed was nice. Glad to have it, since it was heavily plot and all I could understand next to nothing from watching the raw. I guess I'll watch 41's raw after I get some irl stuff out of the way, but I'm not sure it's worth it for such a plot-based episode. But eh, I could still probably get a general understanding, especially with the set up from 40.
(amused that Yuma is totally the odd man out in that one).
I can imagine how hilarious it'd look for three people to be doing somewhat elegant transformations and then move to a kid yelling "Kattobingu!" and throwing all his gear into the air. evilfusion
III's is the most elegant of them all. And this is probably the first time Kaito did his Photon Change onscreen without actually stating "Duel Mode, Photon Change" (my rough understanding of Japanese keywords indicates he said something about it being unforgivable that they captured Haruto). Interesting, I think he still used a variant of "Let me hunt for your soul(s)". I for some odd reason tend to really enjoy when other characters recognize others they encountered previously and react accordingly. Like how Kotori was visibly horrified to see IV again, and how Droite recognized Yuma when she and Gauche did the 2 v 1 duel, and also how Yuma recognized "Photon" as being Kaito's archetype. Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Just watched 40 subbed in the hope of getting someinspiration to write again. Episode was nice. Still not motivated to write. This sucks. Looking forward to tag duel.
IceDorago
I like it too. It adds realism. If you saw a guy who you had seen trick your friends and then brutally beat them to near death, you'd show some horror. If you had an encounter where your soul was nearly stolen and your partner was nearly wiped out, and had faced them twice, you'd recognize something from the same line as their trademark. Though iirc, Yuma didn't make any connection when he saw IV do his Duel change. (Yet strangely enough in a fanfic I was reading, Shark managed to catch this when facing III.) Droite recognizing Yuma was actually nice, since it wasn't that necessary for an element of realism, seeing as how he was just another kid they had encountered while keeping peace in the tournament, an would likely be someone very forgettable. evilfusion
True. But also, Droite did see Yuma throwing that fit about not having a Heart Piece, so that was probably memorable enough. True, no one seems to pay any attention to the fact III, IV, Droite, and Gauche do mode changes, despite that being a very notable feature of Kaito. Astral at least acknowledged III's Duel Anchor. It makes me wonder whether Kaito actually knows III or IV in some fashion, because he doesn't acknowledge their Mode Changes or Duel Anchors. In his defense, the episode was nearly over, and I'm thrilled they at least went far enough to have the Duel start, even if no one took a move. Someone wrote a fic where Shark acknowledged III's Duel Change as similar to Kaito? Cool. Which brings me to the tangent that Shark briefly stalked Yuma and overheard him say "Kaito" in this episode. Which interests me mildly, because I have no idea where that line of thought will go. Which brings me to yet another tangent. Shark had the first Number (Number 17) but lost it to Yuma. He duels Kaito 20 episodes later and does not have a Number, which Kaito notices when he steals his soul. About 10 episodes later, Shark gets a new Number. I'm imagining Kaito's reaction if he ever saw Shark play Number 32.
IceDorago
Yeah, I was looking through ZeXal fics on FF.net and found one where they basically made the WDC take place after episode 2, then went with some of the starting duel like vs. Ukyo in order for Yuma to gain some Numbers besides Hope and Revise, before expanding into its own version of the story. I found it pretty well done, even more so due to the fact that people like Akari and Kotori actually duel, though I don't know how much it'd appeal to this forum as most people here hate the use of customs while it's pretty much standard over there. I've yet to actually watch the episode (though I'm going to after I type this), but I'm assuming that either he was warned about the Tron family by Faker, as they have some connection, or, as you said, the episode ending prevented them from showing a reaction. I'm assuming the former, as they'd probably have time to shove in Kaito gasping in shock or something of the sort, but if it is indeed the latter, they'll probably show the Duel modes at the start of 42 and place the reaction at that point, continuing on from there.
I personally despise most customs because, as you may notice on this very site, people SUCK at making them and even worse at integrating them into stories and RPs. For the record, I'm pretty terrible with it myself, but I compensate by being near-brilliant with existing cards, at least in RPs and stuff. Well, we've yet to know much about the Tron family, aside from Dr. Faker thinks Tron is dead, and they're planning revenge against him. I think V made a comment that "We'll steal everything from him. Just like he did to us." Then again, they're so liberal with reactions. Yuma always freaks out when he sees a Number, but if someone else duels with similar technology to the guy who can kick his ass and steal his soul, he's just "yeah, that's cool". IceDorago
Yeah, I don't know if Yuma's reactions should be counted, considering the tiniest bit of surprise sends him over the top. I'm surprised he doesn't fall over dead as soon as he sees the galaxy Xyz portal instead of the red one.
~British Soul~
have you guys seen Number 33 (in sealed form), if not, here's an image it looks so cool imo, it looks like a floating castle *shudders* in sealed form

Northern Sage
Also, how the screenshot appears, it almost seems like it's activating an effect (one of the Xyz Materials are detached, since there only appears to be one ring around it)... Involving shooting lasers. Okay, this duel just became 20% more awesome (than it already was). Also, in that case, chances are it will only need 2 Xyz Materials. evilfusion
Usually, the Number is clearly visible on the real form, not the sealed form. So it's probably the real form. With a number like 33, I imagine it requires 2 Level 3s. Alternative, 3 Level 3s.

evilfusion
Except it's most likely that III uses it, not Tron. For that matter, we dont even know what the hell Tron and co. want with Numbers, or why Tron wants Haruto's power.
Do you remember episode 13 at all? Haruto's debut involved him gleefully desiring more screams while launching garbage through a dimensional portal into the Astral World. In his next appearance in the same episode, Kaito also seemed unnerved by Haruto's near-monotonous murmur that laughter is unneeded and he needs to hear more screams to calm down. That said, Haruto's manner is unnerving, due to his blank semi-obliviousness to nearly everything and the fact he can pretty much destroy everything in his vicinity when stressed.
