Who said the Antagonist can't be the Protaganist?

Well, by definition, if Kaito is the protagonist, than Yuma is the antagonist.

There is such a thing as Villain protagonists, but that typically involves the story through a different viewpoint. Honestly, I don't think Kaito would work as the protagonist unless he turns against Dr. Faker near the end, so as to maintain the idea behind a final enemy either using the protagonist or directly opposing them.

True enough. Kaito would also need a little more of a backstory if he were the protaganist. Like what happened to his biological parrents for example. ( I'm guessing they're dead. )

Also, I heard 1 of the Fortune Teller guy''s Numbers is called. Number 11- Big Eye, and it it seems it requires two Level 7 monsters.

I´m currently watching Zexal and I think its pretty good so far, remember that its hard to come up with new stuff after 3 previous Yugioh series and theres a lot of hidden plot twistes yet to be revealed in Zexal. But I can agree that the main carachter can be kind of a pain in the A hole. I get the feeling that they´re trying to reinvent yugioh a bit with Zexal, so I´m gonna watch it until the end :)

And since Shark is not a main character, he loses automatically to the main villain.

Obviously. Unless there is a round robin type tournament, in which Shark has a slim chance.

If he does lose, I'll re-write part of the duel to make him win.

...But I suppose i should actually get around to watching EP 9 first.

So they're planning on making a tournament arc. Just like every Yugioh except GX (since the tournament was almost completely irrelevent to Jaden's end of the plot). Well, it'll still probably be an improvement over "monster of the week" style plot with the Numbers.

I was kind of amused that Kaito realized Yuma was also a "Number Hunter", because it suggests (between the lines) that Kaito might be willing to let Yuma walk around some more and "help" him collect the Numbers, especially since Yuma's no match for him.

Yeah, it was subbed like 3 days ago. Mr. Heartland (the mayor, I think) suggested throwing a Duel Carnival and tournament to attract Numbers holders. If Kaito enters the tournament, he reasons, he will get a lot of Numbers.

Interestingly, this is the first time someone puts out the logical question: "What if Kaito loses?"

Unfortunately, the counter reasoning is essentially "That's impossible, Kaito's deck is the best". I've said it in the past: If your only response to a negative result is "It won't happen", your plan is seriously flawed.

I haven't been watching episodes for a while, but unless Kaiba or Jack step through time and space to participate in the tournament, I wouldn't be concerned about Kaito losing to anyone other than Yuma.
