Pretty good episode. It seems that all the Legendary Numbers have some sort of connection to the Barian lords, this episode making it the most blatant with Alit. Like some sort of alternate life or distant past they no longer fully recall. Durbe had some sort of reaction to the ruins with Number 44, Don Thousand said he figured out Number 65's location from Vector's memory, and Number 96 noted that Vector seemingly had been there before. Vector likewise reacted oddly to the legend of the ruins.

This one very blatantly involved Alit.

I think from something I read on he wiki, so not wholely true but: The Legendary Numbers are part of Astral's power that were used to seal Don Thousand. Which implies there was some kind of battle between the two. Which in turn implies the 7 Emperors were involved with it. So that's some kind of link at least.

That's probably right. I now vaguely recall Don Thousand said they needed those particular Numbers because they sealed his power. I still like my theory that Don Thousand is in some way related to Number 96, considering their slight resemblance (plus Number 96's resemblance to Astral), and when Number 96 used Rank-Up Magic to make C96, his voice also changed from normal to something closer resembling Don Thousand's voice. (Key word: "closer")

Ugh...

ZEXAL Rank 30 is just so much stupid, and I haven't even READ it!

So, in the Kaito-Shark duel, they have both been duped by Yagumo's minions to get two very specific Numbers explicitly designed to cause intense pain and kill their owners as well as each other.
And these two are supposed to be the more intelligent duelists.

I am at a loss for words as to how utterly inept Shin Yoshida (the writer) is at his work.

Anyway, so episode 29 is subbed now.

According to Number 96, Astral needs his power in order to absorb Chaos Numbers. By using Rank-Up Magic on himself and evolving, Number 96 claims that Astral can't absorb him anymore. Don Thousand tells Vector that everything went according to plan after the Duel.

That would sort of explain why the Emperor's Key couldn't handle Shark Drake Vice then, assuming 96 was still bound at the time.

Neat.

If Black Mist wasn't sealed before the Droite + Gauche vs Yuma Duel, it sure as hell was afterwards, so it's possible that Shark Drake Veiss was unable to be contained for that reason. I think it was more because Veiss was bonded with Shark's soul, powered by Tron's crest, and fueled by a vengeful desire. It was pretty much evil.

And Shark Drake was absorbed by Astral. Veiss, probably not. Astral gave Yuma Numbers 39 and 32 prior to the Dr. Faker Duel. Since Yuma had beaten Shark, I'm confident Astral got Number 32 from that Duel. As for Numbers 15, 40, and 88, either Shark had them and lost them to Yuma, or IV never lost them, and Tron retrieved them. Either way, the Sphere Field had only absorbed the Numbers that Tron and Yuma had.

Good god, this episode was SOOOO much fun to watch. Alit was exceptionally entertaining, due to how his enthusiasm/mannerisms when Dueling transition incredibly well to his changed attitude, so that he seems much more direct and ruthless without being absolutely evil the way Vector is.

Alit seems to have taken a leaf out of Misael's book in terms of using cards and strategies that focus on replenishing Overlay Units and screwing with the opponent's plays/Overlays.
It seems Barians can literally tell when the player draws Rank-Up Magic. And it was pretty epic that Gauche neither used it, nor followed the strategy Alit wanted, and instead used his Equips and so on to have a straight on fight with Yuma, which let Yuma counterattack the following turn with Excalibur.

Their combos for the battle was epic, and it was similarly awesome how Alit attempted to counter it using his Xyz, which was almost literally the same effect as Chaos Return (Number 96's Trap that negated an attack, then activated Barian's Force from the Grave), but Yuma countered it. This is the part I didn't quite follow, as evidently it negated the effect, destroyed the Xyz, then inflicted Excalibur and Lion Heart's ATK as damage to Alit. The Duel ended here.

I gathered that since the Xyz's effect was negated, Battle continued and Gauche's LP also went to 0 from the attack, but it wasn't actually shown.
And yeah, this episode pretty much confirmed that the Barians do have memories associated with the ruins.
Of course it was a great duel. Exceptional music, return of Gauche and Droite…

Why didn't Droite steal Commissioner's last Xyz Material? Seems like the more logical move. The outcome would have still been the same, but still.

#54's anime effect is just insane in other news.
I am not gonna like the episode where the memories of Yuma's friends were stolen. Hopefully by part 2 or part 3 or whatever he gets them back. Also there should be a n episode where Vector gets a female Barian to be Yuma's mom and has her grounds him for life for duelling.

That is a stupid and pointless idea for a filler episode imo, sure it sounds hilarious on paper, but the Barian would have to be pretty good at disguises to even pass for Yuma's mum.
