Bahamut - Envoy of the End Posted October 22, 2012 Report Share Posted October 22, 2012 Right, I finally got around to watched the premiere of Zexal II. Thoughts: Starts with four Barian dudes talking, who from what I gather are named Darube, Gilag, Alit and Vector instead of the 'Barian' who controlled Faker (I think it was suggested that was actually the one called Vector doing that?). So now they've decided on having four apostles from the realm instead of one, and (rightly realised) it would be dumb if one of them was named after the realm and not the others. Gilag, the big one, is sent to collect Numbers that the Barians need to destroy the Astral world. Okie-doke. Yuma dream sequence with the door again, telling him that he has had the power, now it is nearly time for him to lose something precious. In the same way that the Menoa Tree in Inheritance threatened to take away an unspecified part of Eragon, and then just... didn't. Hopefully this preminition will actually go somewhere more than idle threats. Yuma promptly does what he usually does, although the fangirls asking him to get Shark/Kaito/IV's autographs was amusing. Gonna be honest, don't like the new theme tune. Also think revealing Number 107 during the credits is a mistake and it should have been left to it's debut, but that's just me. I can see why it would be used as an audience hook, but not for me. Gilag's appearance in the real world in such dramatic fashion was pretty decent, even if taking control of a gang of thugs was generic as hell. Rio's scene was awesome, her having seer like powers is a bit 'Ok... wut?' but interesting none the less, and she definately did more in 2 minutes than Kotori Anna and Cathy combined in 73 episodes. Duel setup was pretty bland, although it showed a fortitude in Yuma's character to protect the gang and Astral. When Hope appeared to Astral to 'volunteer' to go off and help Yuma in the most Dues ex Machina of ways was just... well yeah you can probably imagine my reaction. It was industrial to say the least. Duel has been extremely meh so far. New end theme is nice. The little character things that appear are so unbelievably cute, they were awesome. So yeah, first impressions very mixed. Tried to watch ep 2 straight after, but no videos I try last for more than 2 minutes before cutting. Can't say I'm enormously fussed. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Yuma probably WON'T use a Number next episode since he doesn't like use them against people who don't have them or are not Barian drones. 2. The episode after is probably when things will begin pick up. 3. Yay for Yuma using Tera-Byte in the anime and Fran Ken in the manga. Too bad neither really did anything. Still nice to see Yuma using other Numbers. 4. I predict that in the manga, Yuma will win with Thunderspark Dragon. 5. It seems a like a ton of Numbers are going to be introduced in the manga soon. 6. I heard a rumor on another site that Rei might have a Number. I really do like how Zexal is progressing and I think it's my favorite of all the YGO series to date, though I'm a little concerned on what they plan to do with triple digit numbers. Does that mean the 1-100 numbers aren't going to get all filled up? I guess that leaves a lot rp's on this site happy though if you know what i mean. It just messes things up further and confuses everyone. The important thing here is 'official-ness' and the ability to create a Number deck for use in tourneys or DN or whatever. Bahamut - Envoy of the End Posted October 27, 2012 Report Share Posted October 27, 2012 Finally watched ep 2. Well that was generic as heck in places. I don't think I really enjoyed it. First of all, in the intro, just before the Number 107 comes up. Was that Droite!? That would just be... wow... As for episode, Kaito and Shark take out lots of dumb, slow bikers. Not as epic as it should have been because it's been done and bad henchmen are bad. Kotori is finally doing something productive. Sort of. Astral aking Yuma stand with heroic motivating speech, what a guy he is. Duel was alright. I quite like the ending of ATK swining back and forth "I'm going to Honest effect you" "Well I'm going to Honest effect you right back". Just the two Number specific support cards really hack me off. I'm fine with him doing it as ZEXAL, but the idea of Number support being regular cards in his deck like he's just pulled them out of a collectable pack or something is just horrid and always has been. Let's not get ahead of themselves, the writers could still curb stomp him yet. I have faith in them. The Barian invaders, having failed to take the Numbers needed for their evil plans by using an entire(ly rubbish) biker gang to beat Yuma and co up, they've had a pro duelist ban Yuma from his classes, then tried to ban duelling within the school in order to get Yuma to face them....?
