DARKPLANT RISING
If it's another Gimmick Puppet I will go nuts. It's fine for him to have something differet, he doesn't need a third one and it would be boring if he did, and for an archtype to have no regular boss (from what we've seen) to get three Numbers would just be silly. Numbers change to fit their owner, well then why the hell was IV playing Gimmicks when they are so crap without them? Tron created the entire archtype, what kind of freaking tournament would the WDC be if anyone could enter with self created cards?
Didn't I, like, explain a gajillion times already that Tron probably just collected the blank Number cards and gave them out to his kids? Also, your "Rank 10 theory" is just a personal wish. There's no way it'll happen.
Jord200
My question is how was Tron able to find anywhere from 7-9 blank Numbers. Does he have machinery that helps him? Do they randomly duel people and hope they have a Number? If he simply knew where they were, I would think he would have more than 9. The Trons had 9 Numbers when the WDC started. Tron- 8, ?? III- 33, 6 IV- 15, 40, ?? V- 9 If Destiny Leo isn't a Gimmick Puppet, its probably one IV hunted. Shark Drake could be the same, unless Tron designed it FOR Shark. Since III and V are out, and IV probably doesn't have a fourth Number, their ninth Number most likely belongs to Tron.
evilfusion
One thing in this episode I noticed that seems weird. When Tron is talking to Yuma about Kazuma, there's that lightning bolt briefly between them. Then, as Yuma's retorting, there's this odd, brief flicker on the Emperor's Key. This is not present at any other time or angle, and it doesnt seem like it's a flicker from the embers around them.

But I also really can't see another 2 Material Rank 8. It will probably be three materials. And a Gimmick Puppet. Then I'll cry and have to scrap this duel I'm writing which a Rank 10 Number with Destiny in its name would have slotted in superbly (spoilers?) Did Yuma really need to be present on the sidelines for all these quarter finals? I mean, really need to be there? ~British Soul~
my theory: i think Yuma was trying to get more LP for his duel against Gauche because at the end of the Duel Coaster episodes, Yuma only had 2000 LP remaining, though Gauche must be trying to get LP too since the last time we saw him he had 500 LP remaining, although their LP might get set to 4000 when their duel starts though, i guess we'll find out when their duel actially starts

But it lets him be aware of all the important events surrounding the characters participating, such as what Tron did to Droite, the plot surrounding V's past, and the conclusion of IV vs Shark and Tron's designs with them. It's called arrogance. Tron is fully convinced that his plan will go off without a hitch, and the only people who will know are IV (an ally), Shark (his victim), Yuma (an enemy who already despises him), and Kotori (someone irrelevent). Also, there's really not much anyone can do about his plan, and leaking it in that way may have been deliberate, to rile EVERYONE up. Shark just learned that Tron had ordered IV making his life hell and plans to use him. Even though he's defiant of doing anything Tron wants, he doesn't have much choice. Shark Drake has been corrupting him, feeding on his anger and hate, and now he's Summoned it, and it's his best chance to defeat IV, who also has Numbers. Obviously, Tron needs Shark to be cornered and desperate in the Duel, so that he needs to use Chaos Number 32 in order to win. I imagine that C32 will be infused with some of Tron's power so that Shark will succumb completely to his inner darkness. The only way to defy the plan, essentially, would be for Shark to lose, or choose losing over winning when cornered. And he's been dying to settle the score with IV all tournament. That was his reason for joining. He won't give that up. In addition, IV being told that Tron plans to use Shark riles him up, and makes him fight even harder to defeat Shark, making the battle more intense and pushing Shark's skills to the limit. And Yuma learning the plan...won't affect much. Tron's not letting Yuma directly interfere, and is amused by Yuma's anger. It's a win/win.
Northern Sage
According to wiki, Destiny Leo is Number 88, a Gimmick Puppet, and uses 3 Level 8s. Bahamut - Envoy of the End
NO! NO! NO! NO! NO! This is very upsetting. Okay, taking out the fact I was hoping against hope for a Rank 10 and if it is a case of 'when this card runs out of overlay units you win' deal then yeah its conditions make sense, so fair enough on that. But why is it being called a Gimmick Puppet? Oh yeah, only because IV summoned it. What's the point? Gimmicks clearly are never getting released now in terms of a deck. The deck with probably the best chance of summoning this is Gadget Barbaros; which this would have fitted in magnificently, except its not going to be a mytical beast anymore, its apparently a mechanical puppet. Destiny Leo sounded cool as f*** on its own, and it doesn't even remotely look like a puppet. Damn Konami, just generically throwing everything into the same archtype just because they're used by the same person. They do realise people don't do that IRL right? Watch its effect be really s*** and situational now as well, just to put the cherry on. Very miserable bunny right now. *rants and raves for a long time*
DARKPLANT RISING
Bahamut, so I usually don't go around hating all the famous people around here, but TBH I'm starting to hate you and your actions. Mainly because, you're not funny. See, I honestly think that no matter how rotten someone is from heart, he's fine as a man as long as he can amuse others. That's the only real philosophy I’ve found out myself. Especially on the internet where the problem of how generous someone is doesn't really matter, humor defines 100% effing percent of your character. I don't care if you're like "PLEASE MAKE IT RANK 10, but if you're going to fight the obvious future, you should always prepare a good reaction pic for when your hopes get crushed. Why so? Duh, so that everyone around you can just get a laugh. Seeing people zetsubou itself is quite amusing, even if you know it's half-on purpose. On the other hand, you simply said "NO! NO! NO! NO! NO!", which is like literally the most intelligent post ever. Of course no one would laugh upon seeing that. You just posted that without thinking didn’t you? You just threw your selfish opinion into the reply box and clicked Post. That’s not how people win on the internet. You’ve got to think before every single post – how will people look at this post? Won’t they think I’m stupid? In this cyberworld where posts define everything, you basically told us that you’re a bragging idiot. Okay, so I don’t think you really are a bragging idiot, but what you did sorta makes us believe you are. Even if someone is benevolent from heart, if he goes around walking saying he’s evil and wants to sacrifice a hundred humans to Cthulhu, no one will think he’s sane. Same with you. You haven’t learned the laws of success. tl;dr You’re not funny, if you’re going to brag do it in a humorous way, you need to get better, you’re not funny.
Apparently, IV isn’t evil, and everything he did was part of his orders. IV believed that Tron wasn’t the kind father he knew, and had turned into an absolute monster. And he also believed that if Tron succeeds in his plans to kill Faker, he will return to his former self and the family can live happily again. That’s the only reason IV did stuff for Tron. IV didn’t mean to do anything to Shark’s sister (who, BTW, got on-screen. Part of her face was covered, but we got to look at her hairstyle, which was…yeah, similar). He activated a Spell Card Tron told him to, and it sent out fire that badly burnt Shark’s sister. Surprised at what he did, IV tried to save Shark’s sister but was too late. And in the process he got that scar. In the end, IV apologized to Shark and disappeared. What happened to him later is unknown, but given the way he lost, it’s safe to assume he lost his crest and its powers, and just like the other two, are in a coma. On the topic of Shark: Shark DIDN’T get possessed by Shark Drake. He fused his soul with Shark Drake’s, and therefore gained the powers of the Numbers without letting himself get possessed. However, just like any other demonic contract, it seems Shark’s going down Sasuke Lane. He claims he’ll never bow to Tron, but you know…that basically MEANS he eventually will. Typical flag. On a completely separate note, I think the brothers will later appear in a different form, one way or another. Mainly due to how III reappears in the OP. Oh, and this is probably just a mistake on the writers’ part, but IV didn’t give his Numbers to Shark, so…

evilfusion
Avoided the site like the plague so I wouldnt receive ANY spoilers. Stupid TCG section revealing Tron had Number 8 in episode 54... Now that I've seen the episode...I need subs to understand the dialogue, but I feel slightly disappointed with IV's ending. He had a nice breakdown of emotion earlier on, but after losing, while it's nice for a bit of an explanation about him, it just seems wrong somehow. It's anti-climactic. Was his crest possessing him or something (you see it disappear after the duel, the same way III's disappeared when Atlanthal was destroyed)? And Shark seemed totally fine, too. Too much buildup, not enough delivery kind of deal. Also, the Chaos Xyz Change took too long for the delivery as well, which made it feel less epic than it should have been. I did notice IV didnt leave his Numbers behind. But I'm not surprised, either. Unlike Yuma and Kaito, Shark isnt collecting Numbers. And I figured that even if Tron's goal was to take over Shark, there's no point in forfeiting the Numbers because they'd technically remain in the Tron family's possession. DARKPLANT RISING
*Stuff*
Pointless to argue then. We both think differently, so I can't really understand you. On a separate note, I honestly think Shark has the most balanced deck in any Yugioh character. Shark's deck uses many strategies. Just that, and it seems suckish, but the synergy they create is amazing (at least, in anime standards). Let’s look at his deck. Shark’s ace monster, Submersible Anime-Version Carrier Aero Shark, has got an eff that's rediculously broken in 4000 V.S. 4000 rules – in fact, it's got the potential to be a game-ender on its own. Shark's deck is focused towards summoning him, and thus, runs many cards that can quickly spam Rank 3s (Shark Stickers, Hammer Shark, Surface, Anime Version Fish Rain, Anime version Big Jaws, etc.) This, “Rank 3 spam”, is Shark’s main strategy. Of course, to unleash Anime Version Aero Shark’s true power, Shark has to keep it on the field till he can use its eff twice (two blows of 1000+ burn is a game-changing move in 4000 V.S. 4000 rules). However, Aero Shark has only 1900 ATK, and can be easily destroyed in battle. It doesn’t have immunity to effect destruction either. For this reason, Shark runs the protective cards such as Poseidon Waves, Friller Rabca, Adapting to Adversity, Icy Crevasse, Deep Sea King’s Judgment, Shark Lair, and Bubble Bringer. This adds the protective tint to his deck that not many other anime characters have, and in this sense, Shark’s deck can be seen as unique type of lockburn. Of course, simply restricting the opponent and going for damage by Aero Shark is fine enough a strategy in the anime world, but Shark, being a careful duelist, probably felt Aero Shark’s ATK is rather depressingly low. While stall cards can save Aero Shark and lead to more burn, it doesn’t act as a terminal solution against strong monsters. To solve this problem, Shark decided to use cards that can manipulate ATK. One instance is Aqua Jet. Most ace monsters don’t reach 2900, so most of them can be then taken down. Given just this isn’t enough, Shark also runs Needle Sunfish and Armored Xyz. Aforementioned Friller Rabca can both lock and manipulate ATK, giving it interestingly well-thought-out synergy with Aero Shark. Also, for when he needs a big beatstick but the opponent runs anti-Xyz cards, Shark runs Jawsman as insurance, overall increasing the versatility of the deck. Given the anime format is full of powerful Xyz Monsters, Shark went to a unique approach: taking advantage of the opponent’s ones. Namely, he turns them into Draw Power or his own pawns in the forms of Anime Version Xyz Gift and Splash Capture. However, while these are both powerful if successfully activated, it is true that they are rather inconsistent and can easily rot in the hand. So, to force the opponent to summon Xyz Monsters, Shark uses aforesaid Shark Lair and Bubble Bringer, both cards that restrict a majority of the opponent’s main-decked monsters. In order to recover from the situation, the opponent is forced to Xyz Summon, and falls to Shark’s trap. One thing worth noting is that here, Shark uses a strategy that forces the opponent into the Trap, instead of simply waiting for him to fall in. In this sense, the opponent will have to think twice before any move. Also, Shark was forced to fight a new force: Numbers. While Shark’s anti-Xyz cards can certainly act as counterplans to the Numbers to an extent, it just isn’t enough given the existance of the Anime Numbers Clause (which, BTW, is quite hideously broken). To take them down, Shark started using Black Ray Lancer, capable of negating the Anime Number Clause, and Shocktopus, which can turn the Number into a sandbag. These two cards allow Shark to, once again, take advantage of the opponent’s moves (and given possessed Number Holders try to summon their Numbers as quickly as possible, Shark is pretty much guaranteed to be able to use these anti-Number cards). Some important points in Shark’s strategy are: -While having a basic strategy (Aero Shark Burn), Shark has multiple secondary strategies (Stall, ATK manipulation, anti-Xyz, anti-Numbers) to take care of the problems with that basic strategy. Meaning, his deck doesn’t have an obvious weakness. Shark’s deck is versatile, and can handle almost any opponent it meets. -Shark knows how to lure opponents into his traps, thus lessening the chances of rotting hands. Also, he runs cards that can counter the opponent’s main strategies, such as Xyz. Splash Capture is basically a win condition in the anime, you know. -Shark learns from his past mistakes. After losing to Utopia and realizing how powerful the Numbers are, he threw in cards that can take advantage of their effects, further powering his deck and allowing it to handle the new threats. Now, I'm not saying that Shark's deck is top-tier material. I'm saying that he knows how to properly construct a deck that's properly balanced, something pretty much nobody in the anime can do (Look up: Jaden). He also knows how to play it right, and if he comes to this world and is handed a top-tier deck, he can win through tournaments with ease no doubt. True, most of his cards have better rea-life counterparts, but in the anime's limited cardpool, it's quite difficult to create a deck that can synergy so much. tl;dr Shark is boss
evilfusion
That's a very nice analysis. It further buffs Shark's reputation out-of-universe. In many Yu-Gi-Oh series, there's always a few duelists who are "champion-level" in the anime world, yet frequently lose to the protagonist or a villain whose plot status is better than theirs. Based on that analysis, Shark genuinely is a skilled player, not only constructing a consistent Deck with a variety of tactics, but also actively threatens the opponent every step of the game, either with his defense forcing a bigger move and thus letting him use his anti- cards, or his varied strategies being tricky to predict and difficult to avoid, especially considering that the anime rarely uses destruction effects nearly as often as RL. So the fact Shark is said to be good enough to be in a national tournament, and briefly excusing that he was disqualified for looking at his opponent's Deck, he's also good enough to have WON that tournament. Considering he predicted IV's facedown was Mirror Force merely based on having seen the card in the opponent's Deck, and he had Big Jaws out, I'm positive he was about to Summon Aero Shark for the win if he hadn't been disqualified right then. So unlike most champion characters in Yugioh series, Shark consistently maintains his skills and it's not pure lucksacking a godly combo or having access to extremely rare and powerful cards and claiming that's skill (Zane and Kaiba, respectively, although Kaiba actually WAS skilled AND had absurdly powerful cards). He's also the only "rival" in the anime to legitimately win a rematch with the protagonist after his first defeat. Although considering the protagonist is Yuma, that only says so much, regardless of Shark overcoming the Numbers. On the flip side, while Kaito is consistently portrayed as Yuma's greatest threat, he's been losing a little credibility in his WDC duels. III and IV were crushing him with near-ease, and V was doing similarly. That buffs III, IV, and V as threats, but they lose plot significance after they lose to Yuma, Shark, and Kaito, respectively. While I'm not 'mad' about it, Kaito was especially badass earlier on because of how easily he dismantled his opponents and their strategies, rarely losing his composure, and being almost unshakable. In Episode 13/14, he had a huge advantage from the start and was clearly clobbering Yuma every step of the way, sidestepping Yuma's comeback Trap. Episode 22, he read Shark's plan and chose cards specifically to get around them. Episode 23/24, he was dismantling Astral's strategy and effectively taunting Astral's inability to really counterattack. He lost his composure briefly when Utopia Ray appeared, and understandably was alarmed when Astral and Yuma fused. While he narrowly avoided losing, he was still badass as a result of the playing skill he showed. But in the tag duel, he was self-concerned, and ultimately useless against III and IV's strategy, requiring Yuma's aid to survive at least 3 times if you count Tributing his monsters for Photon Kaiser. Against V, he was being thrown around way too much, dashing his credibility somewhat. Ah well.
Brinolovania
I'd just like to say here, that while Kaito's good, he has some flaws. Mainly, the fact that his deck is basically a Galaxy-Eyes spam deck. Really, its just a Galaxy-Eyes deck. That makes sense, because the deck does excell at summoning it quickly, and it kills every Zexal boss monster, even Numbers. However, with preparation, Kaito can be pushed into a really bad situation because Galaxy-Eyes is his win condition. If you stop it, he basically loses. He does have the Numbers, but his deck isn't focused on them, so he can't summon them too easily. The reason III and IV could stop him so easily is that they used a trap to prevent Galaxy-Eyes from doing anything. And with V also, Kaito had trouble because Dyson Sphere couldn't be defeated even with Galaxy-Eyes' ability, and it could use Galaxy-Eyes to its advantage by attacking directly. tl;dr Kaito's good, but he needs more diversity in his strategies. Basically, he needs to be more like Shark (which can be said of pretty much every anime character ever)

Blake
I didn't watch before now, but I must say... Damn, I absolutely hate this episode. Shark slid backwards in character development and became MORE Sasuke than ever. He's even doing the "Oh you apologized for ruining my life, because you were made to by an authority figure, and only want 1 thing of me because you truly feel terrible about it and you were doing it for the sake of someone you loved? PFFT SCREW YOU" thing that Sasuke does. IV finally becomes a good character that isn't 2D sadism (Though, this is last episode as well) only to be killed off for at least now. And, while it was fine considering how it was built up, his misplay is still utterly ridiculous. Tron is a bigger a****** than ever that just has all of my hate. A villain that is easily despised is well and fine, but not someone this absolutely uncaring for all around him. He's like Sosuke Aizen of Bleach, just with added family that he cares about even less than Aizen cared about his subordinates. C32 was a let down. It just looked out of place and its attack was REEEEEALLY over done, to the point I was wondering if it was over yet. It didn't even have the same epic air that C39 had because Shark's development is being torn to shreds by accepting 32. He was ADAMANT about not becoming a slave to it, even at the beginning of the episode, only to succumb to it and ruin EVERYTHING he was doing. I was honestly cheering for IV from beginning to end, despite knowing the outcome. I just hoped against hope for Shark to not be a dumbass. The only good thing about the episode is that I now like IV for getting some good development.
evilfusion
I agree there was quite a bit wrong with this episode. I honestly dont have any problems with Shark. My problem is with IV. While I certainly liked IV getting some development, the misplay was beyond stupid. For those who forget, he drew that Gimmick Puppet Scissors thing that could destroy Destiny Strings. This comes IMMEDIATELY after Tron warned IV that Destiny Strings was a huge risk, even citing that he was criticizing the laws of probability, even though IV took it as a personal insult. Rather than play this monster, destroy Destiny String, and then have Heaven's Strings destroy Shark's monster and attack directly for game, IV instead attacks, using the effect of Destiny Strings, which predictably backfires. Why is this beyond stupid? Because Destiny Strings prevents the other monster from dying in battle. So attacking a facedown DEF monster with a monster equipped with a card that prevents monsters from dying in battle served no purpose whatsoever, even if the gamble hadn't severely backfired. Bahamut - Envoy of the End
Finally watched the [s]fanservice[/s] episode. Er, I looked ahead at the wikia at the first two turns because I was looking up Destiny Leo and trying not to see Vice's effect, and it all looked a bit 'wut?' Watching it in episode, it makes a little more sense watching it happen, but it was still a hideous misplay by IV for the reasons stated above. I dunno, maybe Tron was trying to goad him into the misplay with what he said perhaps, and it is kinda realistic and in fitting with his character that IV would lose his temper and make such a mistake in the process. Plus there is the whole ego thing, winning with Scissorman wouldn't be enough for someone like IV. It's sort of questionable to me. Shark's development was... okayish. As for the whole 'I didn't want to do it, Tron made me, I tried to save her'. Bullshit IV. You've been glorifying what you did for thirty episodes, or was that on Tron's orders as well? Well, yes, it probably was actually, although his thoughts all the way back in episode 26 would suggest otherwise. If anything it weakens his character that he couldn't stand up to Tron and would do such a thing when he really didn't want to. If he was as against it as he said, if he had doubted Tron's orders like he said, he wouldn't have done it. I hate it when YGO does this, and I hope against hope that they won't do it to Tron and Faker as well. Except they will. They'll shake hands and forgive each other after Yuma or Kaito beats them about, almost gauranteed. Two duels in a row that should have been amazing but weren't. Couldn't care less about the brothers coming back or not. One win in six between them, like I'm going to take any of you seriously if you come back. If Kaito beats Tron I might stop watching the series. Yusei was bad enough, having three of them who only lose to each other would be too much.
