gotta ask : no tuner fusion ritual synchro genmi toons and etc. in zexal ?
Well, there was that one time with two Gagaga Girls and one Moray of gree*shotgunned*
The main focus of the series is Xyz Monsters, and with so far one single exception, no one seems to be able to use Extra Deck monsters or other monster subtypes at all. (The exception being Photon Twin Lizard, a fusion monster). Which, the more I think about it, is kind of surprising.

i'm really looking forward to those episodes now, it's starting to get even more intersting. So we know it was III's role to give Shark Number 32, a plan which was never consulted with IV which was why he was surprised when Shark summoned it, then it was IV's role to make Shark succumb to the darkness of his heart. Tron then plans to use Shark as the assassin to defeat Faker which angers IV. - yup it's getting intersting now

Tron's true form? so maybe we'll see Byron Arclight? and maybe with the thing with Haruto has something to do with the ritual that he used Haruto for....

I'm wondering how IV totally missed the plan, if that's really the case.

In episode 33, he was RIGHT THERE when V asked if III knew his role, took one of the Numbers, explicitly mentioned how Shark was looking for IV, threw the Number to III, and told him to give it to Shark, who was sure to appear. After IV's duel with Tetsuo/rep, he was going to Duel Shark, but III intervened, justifying that Shark and IV didnt need to Duel because Shark didnt have Numbers, and Tron's orders were top priority.

I still can't help but find IV's outburst in this episode hilarious. Shark ends his turn, Tron (invisible to everyone else) says something to IV, who turns in that direction (facing away from Shark) and snaps at him. The reactions are priceless.

And yeah, I gathered that IV's getting pretty ticked off about Shark because Tron is making it no secret that he wants to use Shark for his plans instead of IV (episode 50 had a similar conflict).

But I personally think Byron Arclight is dead in the Balian World.

I really think so. (As I said in another post.)

well i think it's either that or someone else. Other than that, i really can't think what Tron's true form would be be, i suppose we'll have to wait until the episode airs in July to find out

It doesn't necessarily mean Tron transforms or anything. Although in the opening, it does briefly suggest Tron takes his mask off at some point.

Anyone else think it's weird that Shark and Yuma (if the previews are accurate) Duel before Tron and Kaito do?

Tron and Kaito qualified for the semi-finals first. It doesn't really seem logical for them to Duel second.

Subs are out

http://www.animeavenue.net/yu-gi-oh-zexal-episode-57/

Episode is fantastic, really.
So evidently, Tron's been planning to use Shark from who-knows-how-long, and IV stated that his actions, such as baiting Shark to cheat in the tournament and the accident with his sister was all part of Tron's goal involving him. That begs the question of exactly how long the Numbers have been around, though.

Because seriously, Numbers can amplify the darkness in one's heart, so Tron set up that situation specifically with the intent of Shark one day getting and/or being given a Number? That's...a really weird plan relying entirely on something that hadn't happened yet (Shark had that tournament like a year before the series). Dr. Faker also has an absurd amount of knowledge about Numbers and has likewise planned around collecting them. How much work did those two put into these plans before Numbers/Astral even came to this world? Granted, Tron worked with Dr. Faker, who had to have a motive for seeking out the Astral World in the first place.

I can pretty easily see that Tron is going to be the origin of Chaos Number 32 sort of like how Astral is more or less the origin of Chaos Number 39. And Tron explicitly plans to control Shark to fulfill his plan, so those previews seem spot on.

I'm still wondering also what pain III and IV went through in the past. Both of them had borderline breakdowns more than once about the topic, and while V seems mad about Dr. Faker, he learned about it later, and hasn't really had any insane moments the way III and IV did. What happened to them after V sent them away in the past?

One thing I'm getting hopeful for lately is Yuma's aggressive emotions. Tron in this episode taunted him a little, mentioning that a darkness in Yuma's heart may be born soon, especially if he continues being so hateful and angry. This is the sort of thing I've been hoping on every since the Duel with III. After Yuma got his memory back, he completely broke down when told Astral died, and got super-pissed. I had hoped that he'd maybe show symptoms of Number possession, what with Astral's influence being gone, but alas, no luck. Not surprised, considering it'd detract from the narrative a bit.

But he's been showing that sort of rage more and more, mostly due to Tron, and I think it may end up being just a matter of time before he succumbs, even a litle bit. It'd be a nice subplot. Yuma can be a bit annoying in that Numbers have no effect on him for no apparent reason other than MAYBE Astral. Everyone else completely unaffected tend to have some blatant powers attached (Photon Mode, the crests) and even they tend to be ruthless when they Duel.
Looking forward to next episode so much.

There were a couple of skillful choices in this episode.

1. IV, unlike III or (to a lesser extent) V, does not have a serious motivation to duel. He just likes hurting people. So while Shark has plenty of emotion around dueling IV, IV doesn't really care much about Shark. So Tron's revelation that he wants to use Shark to get revenge on Dr. Faker serves to make him invested in the duel. Tron's picked someone outside the family to complete their end-goal. And from IV's perspective, his own father is trading him in for someone more useful. So IV takes out his anger on his replacement, instead of the real target of his anger, Tron, because he wants to prove to Tron that he's still worthy, by proving he's stronger than Shark. Good stuff.

2. Did you notice how they cut straight from Yuma freaking out at Tron to IV freaking out at Shark. Good cinematography. It creates a parallel.

Let's just see if they f*** this up.

*Avoids looking at all posts made since 57th raw release*

Subs are up now, which I will watch later. At work and too tired now.

Had a look at previews for shows up until ep63 (semi line ups confirmed, old news is old but glad those matches aren't going on and on). Am slightly worried that unless Heartland and Faker get in on the action sharpish (or possibly Haruto) the only Numbers we're going to get in the next eight weeks are Heraldry. And manga. Great, I only need a few more for fic...

Speaking of, any idea of what Destiny Leo is like yet.

There is no limit to how ecstatic I would be if its 2 material rank 10. you have no idea.

It's going to be a Rank 8, obviously. IV sent Gimmick Puppet Necro Doll to the Graveyard. I'm predicting he has another Necro Doll in hand or the means to send another to the Graveyard. The fact IV hasn't played any Trap Cards makes me think he's got a couple of cards that can defend him from the hand.

Question is, will it be a Gimmick Puppet? Atlathal was simply known as Atlathal and it ended up being an OPParts. If not, its most likely a Beast-Type. Considering it says it gives an unfair advantage when it ha no Xyz Materials, I'm guessing its something like this.

Oncer per turn, you can remove an Xyz Material from this card to ???. When this card has no Xyz Materials, it is unaffected by Spells and Traps, and cannot be dsetroyed except by an Xyz monster.

ATK 3000 DEF ?000

Because the writers definately wouldn't create a spell that can revive a monster and up its levels, and would instead pull the same move twice. Come on, I would have thought Destiny Leo would definately have to have different requirements to Killer and Strings, to prevent him using this ultimate power until now. So either he needs some monsters with increased level (Rk10), or more level eights for a three material monster. Given what's been mentioned about it having an effect that relies on it having no materials, I'd have thought less materials would be needed, and there isn't a Rank 10 yet.

Necro Doll, Baby Face, Magne Doll, Scare Crow, Night Joker, Giant Killer.... Destiny Leo. Does that answer your question?

Also: On this episode; fantasitc. IV is awesome and some of the moves were nice.

Onto future episodes: Good, semi's look like getting dealt with in two episodes each rather than dragging on.

I really don't want a Yuma Kaito final though. I agree with fusion on Yuma getting angry and dark, Tron should definately beat Kaito, and indeed Yuma (who is saved by III's crest) to then face Faker. That would be brillant.

If it is indeed Kaito vs Tron, I'm very confident that Kaito will lose. He has gone all series with a near-flawless record, and while I think Season 2 and Season 3 (especially the openings) have emphasized Kaito vs Yuma to almost absurd degrees, I have trouble imagining Kaito defeating Tron. Someone that smug has to have some wicked tricks, and this will only be his second Duel.

Yuma losing to Tron seems way too unlikely. It'd be brilliant, but let's face it, every time I pointed out that Yuma losing a Duel would have benefits for the plot, he doesn't lose, but those meaningless Duels he can lose freely and frequently. Yuma vs Shark prior to the Yuma vs III episodes became high stakes specifically because Shark had a Number, something Yuma evidently had overlooked before essentially throwing the match.

I think IV will still use a Rank 8 because that's what his entire Deck is focused on. He's never used it before because either he didnt have access to it (same as III and Number 6) or because it's not needed/wanted for the situations he's been in. Every Duel he's done onscreen, Giant Killer is his first and main Number, and half the time, he can probably win with that card alone. Heaven's Strings is the second Number he brings out, and it has a massive 3000 ATK and a devastating effect that has to wait one turn before erupting.

With the combination of those two, he rarely needs more than that. Giant Killer wipes out an opponent's main monster and burns badly, then (usually) attacks directly. Heaven's Strings does a cleanup job with its high ATK, and failing victory, uses its effect to put a huge amount of pressure on the opponent's current Field.

He COULD use a different Rank, but I don't see why he would. And it could be another Gimmick Puppet. We just dont know for sure with the information we have.

What he said
It's too early for Kaito vs Yuma anyway (I'm convinced the series will run 100 episodes) and it's for meaningless stakes compared to Tron. You've got Yuma vs Shark for the rivalry thing anyway, as well as for the whole right to face Tron whose screwed them both over. The whole Shark going berserk just feels unneccessary and makes it more obvious that Yuma will come to the rescue and win, again.

Hey actually, I've just thought Tron vs Shark in the final would be nice. Yuma could throw the match (or leave himself open) to help Shark recover (pretty sick of if I defeat him then he'll stop being in yami form), and then Shark can say thanks by letting him keep his Numbers / 1 is enough for him to handle. Or Shark could just be the better duelist. Plus tournament victory would also be redemption for Shark, as well as finding out more about what Tron ordered IV to do to his sister.

If it's another Gimmick Puppet I will go nuts. It's fine for him to have something differet, he doesn't need a third one and it would be boring if he did, and for an archtype to have no regular boss (from what we've seen) to get three Numbers would just be silly. Numbers change to fit their owner, well then why the hell was IV playing Gimmicks when they are so crap without them? Tron created the entire archtype, what kind of freaking tournament would the WDC be if anyone could enter with self created cards?

This part caught me as hilarious.

Mr. Heartland created the tournament SPECIFICALLY to attract Number holders.

What are Numbers again?
