Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury

It's kinda freaky how a little accurate the future setting is in this story I mean, this book was written in the 1940's to 1950's and the author accurately predicted that the decadents of the city in this story wears seashell like earphones, compare that today, iPod earphones are seashell shaped. Bradbury is some sort of subtle seer when making up this story, what happens in the near future we have television shows that we can respond to like guest actors in a television show? If that type of entertainment does come next year or five to six years later from now, then Bradbury is some sort of wizard or something...

I read the book during my sophomore year of high school. I remember one of my hw assignments was to read towards the 3rd section of the book (the part when he starts to run) and instead ended up finishing it because it got really good at that point. So yea, any book that gets me to read more then I was supposed to it a good book in my book.

It was okay. It seemed to lose its original intention after the first third or so, but...

I do have one very large quibble with the book. 'Kay, so it lays out its premise, books are illegal. Interesting. Then it goes back and produces a reason: because everything will inevitably offend somebody, better get rid of all of it. Also interesting, as well as plausible.

The moral, according to Word of God is...

TECHNOLOGY WILL DOOM US ALL.

fr srs

It's like he didn't even write his own book.

I enjoyed the book for its meaning and I thought that it gave a very accurate description of what the future might hold if we rely on technology too much. However, I just didn't like the book very much at all. I guess thats just because it didn't appeal to me.

Argh I'm jealous, I've been trying to get my hands on both Fahrenheit 451 and Ender's Game for a while.
