The sweet, high flute line is so calming and is aided by the gentle shimmering notes in the backing. 0:00 to 0:25 is so pleasing and satisfyingly soothing. Then, about 0:28 or 0:29, a musical feature so typical of ÅŒkami - adding a deeper and fuller element to it. Then, from there on is a nostalgic and smooth flow of euphoric notes with the occasional howl from a wolf and I can't help but think back to when Ammy did her first victory howl. The melody smoothly transposes every so often into minor, the hint of sadness un-mistakable in the piece. The classic taiko drums and shamisen that defines Japanese music adds such a powerful backbone to this piece, it's brilliant. The main difference from this is something in the melody. The element is hard to put your finger on but it's a little different from the rest of the soundtrack. But it's so unbelievably beautiful, that I can't ignore it, especially coming from one of the most under-appreciated games of the past few years. This very satisfying theme plays after you get the Crystal Star and beat the chapter. I personally find this game's chapter closing theme to make you feel like you have accomplished a major point in the game than the 1st. It's fanfare has an exuded air that opens up to the rest of the theme which suits the dropping letters and epilogue to the chapter nicely. Who cares? It's a great song! ^^ Now, I play more war games than anything else, since it was what I grew up playing. One series that I love with all my heart would be the Medal of Honor series. Since these types of games tend to have full orchestra, you are bound to find a few gems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5bRi_7WbV4&feature=player_embedded My heart wrenches every time I hear this song, with a mix of nostalgia and and sadness. It really reminds me as to why we were fighting WWII. It was a cruel, heartless war. But we were fighting to stop it, and have the world at relative peace again. As a player of blues music, I can quite happily say that this is one of the only exceptions I've ever come across. It isn't patronizing, it isn't stereotypical and it still keeps elements of video game music (the little arpeggios and glissandos, for example). Fantastic piece. Dark Posted March 25, 2011 Report Share Posted March 25, 2011 When I looked through Radiant Dawn, I was shocked at the wide range of music. A lot of it was hardcore battle-pumped music, yet a lot had calmer, softer tracks. No requests today, but I have an answer to your question. I appreciate any piece of music that carries emotion with it. You could have a very well-made piece of music with violins and guitars and pianos and everything, but if it does not make you feel anything, what is the point? If a battle track doesn't make you sweat from the heat of battle, or if a calm track doesn't make you feel emotional and reflect upon your adventure in the game, what is the point? If something can take you aback and make you actually feel what the composer was intending, that is a milestone in video game music. Perfect example: World 3 Map from Galaxy 2. The first time I heard it, I felt very calm on the inside, but because of the nature of the game, I felt a bit curious as to why such a calm piece of music was added in a map area. Usually there is dramatic or upbeat music in map areas, but this felt awkward. N was the most amazing antagonist in the series. He was also the first to successfully control a legendary and use it against you. It is just the fact that N wanted Reshiram and Zekrom to face-off against each other makes this battle amazing. The music in this battle is also incredible. The theme has a strong opening and has the feeling of armageddon (possibly from the doomsday clock at around :49). The suspense also builds up with an electric organ as the song develops higher tones while combining the nostalgic music we are familiar with in the series.
