I suppose you could call this quintessential Megaman music. It has that distinctly Megaman-y sound, that driving harmony and that chord sequence that is just so iconic. It drives you on with that fast drum and high tempo, the frantic counter-melody and virtuoso bass in the break - it all just...fits. And it's catchy too. All you really need in a piece of video game music.

This too is a Megaman track that features so many common licks and chord movements that resonate throughout the series, the powerful melody, the aggressive drums, but this has a subtle tint of sadness to it that I really appreciate. It gives this piece a bit of depth outside the typical run-and-gun driving-beat soundtrack. The melody spans the chords well, really giving you a taste of the piece.

This is one of those "beautiful" pieces of video game music. I feel that if this had been an ending or epilogue song, if would have got a lot more attention. It's hidden gems like these that the VGMS are supposed to be showcasing, no? When I ran the VGMS, I deliberately added obscure pieces like Ragtime Osohe because they didn't get enough mainstream. This is another case. Anyway, back to the music - the way the piece goes from that single instrument fugue-like chord melody into a more orchestral movement is monumentally beautiful. The choice of chords on part of the composer is truly astounding, rarely do you find a piece as well-composed as this. The lead in the main movement, the oboe/ocarina-sounding instrument, plays a very simple melody, but it is complemented fantastically by the strings in the background. This piece excels both orchestrally and melodically.
