Its a new song, but for some reason, I'm flooded with memories. I've been a Pokemon fan sine the RYB days. This song, it reminds me of all the happy times I've had playing not just Pokemon games, but video games period. I was so sad when my Yellow and Gold versions timed out and stopped working. Firered and Heartgold helped relive those memories. As Pokemon evolved, I guess you could say I did too. Now, I listen to this and think about how much the Pokemon serries has changed since I got my first Pokemon game. Its definantly given me a lot of great moments. However, my favorite thing about this song is that it seems to have a sense of hope ande peace. At least thats what I felt when Elsia convinced Bianca's father to let her continue her journey. [url="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PmqpoJzT6gU"]Opelucid City (Black Version)[/url] from Pokemon Black (yes, Black only) You may have noticed that all the pieces of mine in this thread are sad, melancholy and nostalgic pieces. I'd like to show my musical diversity by submitting a great piece that is out of my ordinary tastes. The beat and melody are funky, the music is inordinately catchy and the backbeat is fantastic for head-bobbing to. The piece restarts at 1:45, but with MOAR COWBELL. In conclusion, both versions of the song are fantastic, but for different reasons - White has a pang of guilt, a little seed of nostalgia in the background while Black has a thumping, rocking, powerful beat with added funk. Basically, that track always has a habit of playing when I find some amazing map generation. One time, it played right when I made it to the top of a tall mountain and was looking over the world. The vast sea behind me, a huge forest in front, and more mountains in the distance. It made me want to make the most of the world and not lose everything there. Another time, I had been in a cave that I hadn't labeled so I could find my way out. I was lost in the cave and was running out of supplies in general. Using my last stone and iron pick, both of which were already damaged, I managed to dig my way out. Then I was lost. I wasn't sure where my home was, I had no compass, so I ended up just building a tower to help locate my home. Well, when I did make it home, it was a huge relief. Then this music started playing. The guitar and awesome percussion makes me want to just go punch someone in the face. It's hard to imagine that the original version on the NES is a slow, peaceful song that sounds like it's being played on a wooden flute or something. Reminds me of when I used to go horseback riding. Its from OoT which makes it even better. When I first got to around the point of the game where you first hear this theme, I almost didn't even notice the Lon Lon Ranch, because I was so busy destroying the zombies you find at night. I got there, and I felt safer already. The song gives off a sense of peace. I'm looking foward to playing OoT on the 3DS when the time ( no pun intended ) comes. Pokemon Colosseum and XD Gale of Darkness are REALLY underated. Its actually pretty sad. They're great games with equally great music and stories to match. Pheniac is, or at least based off a dessert oasis, if I remember. The music suits that perfectly. Its always made me feel like I've got a long and difficult journey ahead, and I've just found a partner. Although, I actually have. Its a relaxing song noneless. [/i] When we were back in MyBB, and even after the switch to ipb, the character limit was somewhere around 8000 characters. If you want, you can refer back to my original thread and see how many songs I was able to stuff on the first page, but I'd be wary about going to that same number since the descriptions have gotten longer since my original thread. I don't think anyone outside of the admins know what the limit is, since moderators (to my knowledge) have no limit, and no one has actually tested the limit. [/quote] I feel like the activity drops so frequently that it is often hard for the owner of the station to get a decent amount of music to pick from. I know myself and Clair have experienced this, ask Tal if he has as well. In all honesty, I would recommend we ditch this idea of a "vgm station" and either ask Opalmoon to make an official vgm thread in [b]Music[/b] or create a vgm club in [b]C&O[/b]. This is honestly the only way we can keep a lively conversation about vgm without having the owner of the thread being put to an intense amount of stress and pressure. I fairly sure Clair would agree to this idea as, while I'm not saying you all aren't competent to run a thread, who's to say it's going to "work" a "fourth" time? One can even say my original thread was doomed to fail. I would prefer if someone made a club as opposed to a thread in Music about vgm, and if no one would like to step up to this, I would be glad to make a club. Clubs take less effort to run and maintain than do stations, and it will pick up more posts and members compared to a thread in Music. I am also very sad about Clair leaving, but if you would like to express your sadness, I suggest you visit the Leaving/Return Thread. For the time being, I suggest we use this thread to plan the future for vgm on YCM, and hopefully we are able to form some sort of club to keep this legacy continuing.
