Kuri
Call it Pokemon Grey, send it to Nintendo, and see if they take it and hand you a hefty paycheck or throw you in the locker. :3
I was actually planning to call it that, but what if Nintendo/Gamefreak or someone with rights claims copyright over the title when/if they make the game. TheTurtleOnceCalledGod
They have the right to Pokemon, so you couldn't win either way.
Tentacruel
Ummm.... Yeah... I hope one of you is an expert hacker, because the hacking community hasn't even found out where all the data is in B/W yet, much less developed tools to do any of this. I think there's a working Trainer Editor, but that's it.
CrystalCyae
Well, we'll just have to wait then. While we wait for an experienced hacker, we can continue to brainstorm ideas for the hack.
Tentacruel
Not to be a downer, but it will be a very long time before we can do this. The experienced hackers can't even do this yet. I have a really bad feeling this topic will die before then. O_o
CrystalCyae
I suppose your right.... But we can't give up! We just have to be patient, and, sooner or later, we'll be able to do this! *moral speech over*
Kuri
There are several tools that should help. I've found -A map editor -Text editor -character editor Apparently all compatible with B/W

Where may I ask did you find this?

Ω Link Ω
Here is an Idea, If we can't hack B/W why don't we just hack D/P and make it like B/W. Sucky idea but that is all I could think of...
.Frostpaw
May I be the tester? I have an iEDGE card for my dsi/lite, so i can play it wherever I go.
CrystalCyae
That's a good idea Lief. Maaaybbeee, while we wait for the pro hackers to work out how B/W works with coding and such, we could do what we are wanting to do on D/P/Pt, as a sort of practice.
There isn't all that much more to do with D/P than B/W. They're both DS games and the code for both is quite complex. The only game series that is at all easy to hack is the Advanced Gen, which is just one block of Binary. However, there might be enough for us to do to actually pull it off. I'll do some research and tell you guys what I find.
Zektor
ok, but how about hacking emerald and making the exact game just on an emereald cartridge
CrystalCyae
That could also work. Like ADHD said, Emerald is just one big block o' binary. OF COURSE, we'd make the graphics better. Have you SEEN those sprites?
Tentacruel
Well, we could change the graphics, but we're still limited to 16-bit graphics. (No more than 16 colors in each palette.) That being said, it can still be done. So are we agreeing to hack Emerald? If we are, I can help out with the scripting.
Ω Link Ω
Well I think we could pull it off with Firered actually because Emerald is un-stable and Fire red is also 16 bit.
Kuri
Ok using a practice rom is good also. We could us HG/SS as I have found a 3d code to make it look as it were a BW game plus I could try to find a sprite ripper and rip some of the sprites. But the game would take much longer since we would be editing it to keep it B/W style.
CrystalCyae
Yayz, HG edit ...Sprite Ripper? OH RIGHT, those guys. I wish I was one I'd be more helpful rather than just down a cheerleading dance to encourage you.
