You get more the more you post, or make topics. There are many shops in the shop section that request them as pay. Really, the more points you have, the better known you are. How does an imaginary number on an internet forum represent someone's worth? It doesn't. Points are numbers you get from doing a number of forum activities, that can be used in shops, nothing more.
