The Amazing Avian
"Well doctor, I don't believe that either type of night dweller is inherently evil. Vampires are dependent on blood to survive, therefore they feed on the living. I have known them to spare their meals often enough to not be considered killers." He saw the vampire woman suck the blood dry from the packet and his mouth started to water. Even after eating a 3-pound chunk of meat, which may have been enough to satisfy a normal human, he had still not eaten nearly enough to satisfy his bestial appetite. "Hey doc, I'm going down to Mike's for a snack, you want anything?"
Spartan919
Jason stood silently, listening to Tyler and James. He processed the information away, hoping it would prove useful in the future. In the meantime, he was getting restless being surrounded by so many...things that didn't like werewolves. He shifted his feet, never comfortable in the situation, but dealing with it. When James mentioned leaving as not to upset the regulars, Jason was thinking that was a great idea. But no way was he going to leave without Tyler. Clenching his fists, he thought, And I don't particularly hate the fights either, no matter what Tyler tells me. They're good exercise, and I really don't give a crap if I'm kicked out of some stinking vampire bar.
Otaku-sama
"Of course they are not inherently evil, but the curse they have received is evil, a curse from brewed from the depths of the abyss. A curse that forces them to kill their fellow brothers for survival," Sven replied, glancing at the vampire woman. As he walked to answer the door, he replied once more "Oh, if you're going, just get me a coffee." He opened the door to see a well dressed older man. Sven did not get a good feeling from the man, but kept his calm. "May I help you sir?"
GreyCat
"Sven Magnusson, I presume? Or would you prefer 'Darkkar'?" the man said as he eyed him critical. In spite of Darkkar's considerable height, the stranger seemed to be looking him in the eyes, looming above him in fact, despite that he wasn't an inch past 5'8; a full foot below Dakar's height. "Not quite what I expected from a someone of your reputation." He sniffed contemptuously and brushed past him with an arrogant stride. Yet he didn't move. On moment he was standing at the door jam, the next he was in the middle of the room. he just... was. He looked around and sniffed again. "Rather drab. And sparse. I suppose you must make do with what you can afford." "This is not the sort of thing that should involve the humans, or any snoppers," he said. He gestured almost lazily. A gust of wind seemed flushed the room, yet disturbed nothing. The door slammed shut. There was a sharp click as the locking mechanism latched. With a hollow thump, a heavy beam blocked it. Slams echoes through the building as windows and shutters closed. He gestured again and chair skittered over to him. He sat and crossed his legs, cane resting on his thigh as he turned his attention back to the two rightful occupants. "There, much better. Now, Sven, Boy, we really must talk." ~~~~ Tyler sighed. James was right. There wasn't much they could do at the bar. There next best bet was to check the crime scene. Which meant heading over to the port side. He nudged Jason and stood. "Thanks anyway James," he said. He was tempted to snag a mug from the passing bar-girl's tray, but he decided against it. He nodded to the the vampire and started for the door. What James said wasn't really of much help, but it proved heading to the scene was the best move. He paused. Maybe James could be of use. "James, you think you could come with us? It might help to have your... ah... expertise on hand to comment on the scene."
Spartan919
Jason, glad for once to avoid the vampires, began to follow Tyler out of the bar. However, as he passed the bar-girl and the tray, he was quick to snag a fizzing mug from it. Not caring what it was, or who it was really for, he took a deep swig, while still following Tyler. The taste was...interesting; Jason screwed his face up. He had never gotten used to the feeling of these drinks, but he had gotten good at fighting intoxication. He took another drink, before beginning to follow Tyler. However, he was stopped by a large hand on his shoulder, and a deep voice that rumbled like thunder. "I believe that was my drink," it said. ((May I create an temporary NPC?))
GreyCat
The hand that clamped on Jason's shoulder was connected to an equally large man. Topping Jason by another inch or two, he didn't look tall. He looked massive. Bulging muscles, bald head, tattooed arms and chest were a contrast to his otherwise sophisticated appearance. He looked like a wrestler biker turned lawyer. But he was angry. Tyler could smell it, rage radiated from him like a heater in winter. As if the look on the man's face wasn't enough. With a sigh of disbelief, Tyler pressed back into the crowd that cleared a small space so they wouldn't get caught in the potential confrontation. Didn't cause scenes his silver furry tail. If Jason got the vampire riled up at them- again- there would be pay cuts in the future. And since he didn't like pulling the alpha/dominant wolf trick, Jason was on his own for now. That and the fact he didn't want to help attract undead attention.
Spartan919
Jason turned, and saw that the man quite towered over him (or so it seemed). He stuttered to come up with an answer to the man, but his fearsome appearance was causing Jason to draw a blank. Dumbly, he stared down at the now empty mug that he still held in his hand. While he was still trying to come up with an answer, a giant fist slammed into Jason's chin, lifting him a whole foot into the air. He flew backward, and slammed into the wall, shattering the mug in his hand in the process. He fell, but managed to land standing. The room was spinning, and Jason reached out and leaned against the wall to steady himself. "Ow," he muttered quietly. Deciding that was enough, he took advantage of his few heightened abilities, and zoomed over to the vampire. "That hurt," he said, before slamming his fist into the man's stomach. However, his stomach was harder than it looked. He gripped his wrist in pain and looked at his throbbing hand. What the hell? Suddenly, he was lifted into the air, and slammed into a table. The table split, and Jason fell to the ground, pain lancing up his back. "Don't...don't make me change," he managed to gasp out. Miraculously, the vampire heard him. He lifted him up by his collar. "What was that?" he asked.
GreyCat
The man took a breath, sampling Jason's scent. His face twisted even further. "You are one of those." he snarled. "And here I was just thinking you were just a thief." While vampires and wolves could get along, there were just some people, on both sides, that hated the other species guts. Jason's new friend just happened to be one of them. His fangs seemed to grow as he snarled. Loudly. Heedless of the humans working or visiting the bar, the man hurled Jason halfway across the room. People scattered to avoid the flying body and chair tumbled and slammed into the ground in the face of Jason's passage. James was going to have a lot of clean up to do. Tyler growled, but did nothing. If Jason needed help, he would act. If Jason couldn't ask, he was getting help. The man didn't seem quite finished with Jason yet. "I don't like your type here," he said with finality. "You are not welcome". ~~~~ "What? Not talking? Well, I guess I will have to do it all then." The old man didn't seem particularly upset and gestured, causing a table to skitter in place before him. He drew a large, crisp envelope from his jacket. There was no way that could fit in there by normal methods, so it had to be magic. "I see you have a new born. Half blood really, since you stopped the transformation before it could finish. She was responsible for the killings this morning, but that is no longer your concern. That duty will fall to the Claw and the Fang. You, the Stake and the Meld, have another task." He pulled a file from the folder and a picture of a female. One that Leon new well. His mother. "A member of the Blood Hounds was recently identified in this city. Our seers have located a possible Den within the forest. You will investigate and restrain at least one of the members for questioning." He slid the file and picture towards the pair. At the upper left corner, a seal pressed into the sheets impressed on Sven the enormity of the request, no order, he was given. It was the seal of the council. Spartan919
Jason stood groggily, staggering back and forth. Glancing around, he saw Tyler off to the side. His image blurred, so Jason shook his head to clear it, before looking back at the vampire. "I just had to get one of you guys, huh?" He sighed. "Why do I never get involved with the hot chicks who are only here for a drink? That would be so much better than a big bulk of pure muscle." Apparently, that was the wrong thing to say; the vampire charged Jason, ready to slam him into the wall. Jason watched him closely, and jumped out of the way at the last second. "Missed me," he said as the man crashed into the wall. That had to hurt. The vampire stumbled backward, then turned to Jason again. This time, Jason decided to take the offensive; he launched himself at the vampire, juked out of the way at the last second, and leapt onto the vampire's back. He proceeded to pound his head repeatedly. He was unaware, however, that the large vampire had moved. He suddenly slammed his back down on a table, disrupting a couple, and slamming Jason into it. His breath left him as the man took himself off. Turning, he grinned at Jason. "Bet you're regretting taking my drink?" Jason offered him a smile. "Not really," he replied. Reinforce
James, who had stayed back till then, walked forward between Jason and Renald, the vampire. "Out, both of you. I do not let patrons in here just to let them destroy the bar. If you want to continue the fight then go outside." James glared at both of them, ignoring the fact that both were bigger and more muscular then him. He may not look it but he was older then Renald and stronger. "Get out or I will make both of you leave, and that isn't a threat, that is a promise." Rajin was packing up his stand when he heard commotion in the After Dark Bar across the road from where his stall had been today. Having packed up though, Rajin ignored the commotion and vanished with all his stuff in an instant, appearing instantly in the passenger seat of the the car Shift was driving. "Hi Shift, I've been waiting to get to meet you since you entered this town. You are another immortal right, cause this town was getting boring without anyone else immortal to talk too." GreyCat
Tyler smiled and slipped away. James had the confrontation well in hand. Faced with the force of the bars owner of one of the most powerful vampires in two, Jason's aggressor wisely backed off and vanquished into the press of the crowd, much like Tyler was doing. With the fight over some of the crowd turned back to their drinks and conversations. The vampire portion, mainly. The humans still had interest in it. Someone bumped into him and pressed a bundle into his hand. Tyler spun, but there was no scent or trace of the person. He rushed outside to check his mysterious gift. And swore. Pressed onto the outside of the slightly crumpled envelope was the council seal. It was addressed to the True Claw and the Second Claw, the councils title for him and Jason. He growled and flipped through the papers. Basically an official order to do just what they were doing already. With a time limit. And strict instructions, including one to slay the culprit behind the killings. Just what they needed. Aside form checking the site, they apparently knew of a new born vampire they were to question afterwards. As well as a list of suspected hiding places for the mastermind. The Amazing Avian
Leon snarled at the sight of the picture of his mother attached to the file. Though he broke his ties with both parents, he still cared deeply about them and was enraged at the thought of someone being sent to capture her. He knew both of the other men in the room had seen him and he knew there was no way to hide or justify his previous action. He looked at the mysterious man with rage in his eyes and said, "There is no way the Council will get their hands on my mother."
fenrir
A scream of terror later and his work was done. Cain walked out of the bar, with his problem solved and his hours over, it was time to return home. What he had done to the wannabe-slayer was something so awful, so terrifying, that the ascended himself would contemplate suicide. Which he did, most probably. A few cars drove by, each making a trip to their homes, considering it was late*. This made sense, given the brutal murders that appeared to be plaguing the city. For Cain, this seemed like a big joke. Vampires? Psssh. Not scary, nor threatening. A warlock like him could handle one easily, and if he were ever in real trouble, a trip to the void wouldn't hurt anyone.
Not sure if it's actually late yet, correction? GreyCat
"Quite frankly, boy, that decision is not up to you," the old man said, his fingered steepled in a decidedly wizardly fashion. "Despite whatever feeling of affection you may have towards your mother, her actions are in direct opposition to the councils mandate. She is a potential risk to both the supernatural and preternatural communities. And risks cannot be permitted to exist and cajole the rest of the population into a state of disarray." He swept his cane over the papers, not touching them, but they shuffled about and rearranged themselves. Several hand-drawn maps, sketches, surveyors maps and three satellite images, on the common type found on Google maps, the other thermal imagery of the same spot showing three hot spots. "This cave is about nine miles from the outskirts of town, on the other side of the city from were the pack and other weres normally run. There is a ward over the entire site, preventing our seers and scryers from exploring the interior. Such warding does not occur naturally. Your instructions are simple, Stake. You accept the job and use the retainers fee already deposited in your account to gather whatever supplies you need. You explore the site and confront whoever in inside, with a strong emphasis on capture. Secure the likely evidence and report back to me." He gave Leon an impassive look. "While the fee include the services of the boy, as a courtesy, his participation in this venture is up to you. If Ms Collins is present, you may wish to ensure that care is taken on this mission." ~~~~ ((late enough)) At a discreet distance, a figure followed Cain. Dark coat hanging down to his knees, only the base of his black trousers showing didn't say much about his attire. Despite the darkness of the night, he wore a pair of dark shades. Pausing at a corner half a block or so from Cain, he whispered softly, "I see our target. Should I proceed?" The reply was silent and unheard by those around. "Understood," he said, nodding his head. "I will wait for more ideal conditions." He slipped form the corner and continued his pursuit.
Spartan919
Jason had been quick about exiting the bar; he knew the wrath that James could employ, though he was of no great physical stature. Now he was outside, in the dark, he saw his face in the reflection of a puddle on the ground. His face was bloodied; his lip had been split and his nose was bleeding. Jason grinned, causing the lip to bleed more. He winced, never glad at the sight of blood. He felt his body to ensure himself that he was otherwise unharmed, and discovered that he was indeed bruised in many places, mainly his back. He winced, then turned and saw that Tyler had not yet followed him outside. Resolving himself to wait, he sat down at the curb, and stared up at the moon and stars.
