OOC THREAD

“Yet another murder has cause panic in lower Newport. Around four this morning, the police responded to reports of violence in the Mark Street area. What the police found were three bodies heavily battered and broken. They have yet to be identified. The wounds to the neck indicate that these murders are also the responsibility of a serial killer now classified by police as the Newport Slasher.” Behind the reporter, an entire alleyway was cordoned off and several officers moved around and within the sectioned off area. “This is the third case since the week as began and the ninth since the month as began. Police contacts report that in each case, the bodies were found heavily battered and slashed, as well as drained of a large portion of blood. Eyewitness reports also claim that the crime scenes were strangely lacking in blood despite the nature of the wounds inflicted. There are currently no leads or suspects in these gruesome murders.
“The city police have been a state of high alert and strongly urge that residents limit their after dark activities to areas of higher populations and encourage you to ensure someone is aware of your plans and will be able to notify police if you fall victim to this murderer. The police department has come under heavy fire from the public due to their ineffective actions in relation to these cases. This is Andrew Bryson for Newport TV.”

Tyler switched off the television with a concerned look. A couple of customers, who were watching it, turned questioning eyes on him. He looked out at the darkening streets than gave them a grin. “Sorry guys, but I’m closing shop early today.”
“What! Why?” The protests came. Some only looked shocked. He could tell from the looks that a couple understood his reasons.
“You saw the news," Tyler explained for the sake of those who didn't get it. "The Slasher struck again. Three victims this time. I’d really feel bad if I heard one of you got killed because you decided to stay out late at my store.” Tyler made shooing motions at them. Most were regulars, so they wouldn’t be offended much. “And I’m cancelling the club’s meeting for this week. Same reason.” More groans of protest, but Tyler new they understood, even if they didn’t like it. He could smell it on them. The members of his little club chatted as the packed up their things and Tyler’s ears, wolf sharp, picked it up easily, especially when Kyle spoke up.
“Maybe the Slasher’s a vampire!” he hissed eagerly. “They said the victims blood was drained, maybe he drunk it!” His friends laughed it over as Tyler winced. Kyle was closer to the truth than he realized. The problem was that no one knew which vampire it was, or even if it was a vampire. It could just be a frame job. Tyler sighed. These murderers weren’t going to make coming out any easier.

Keith flipped through the pages of the report as he sat in his car. Unmark, non-descript, and ordinary; did not make you think of police. Add to that his casual slacks and plain shirt, he looked like any other civilian. He slid the report into his bag and climbed out, locking the car behind him. The club wasn’t in the best of neighbourhoods and he wasn’t taking any risked. The day wasn’t quite done yet, but sunlight never bothered his contact before. The club wasn’t quite open yet, but the bouncer knew him and let him in. Keith was never quite comfortable in After Dark, knowing just what its regulars were, but it was still early and most of them would either still be asleep or hiding from the sunset. His target was behind bar as usual. As to why James choose to run the bar of his own club, he didn't know and didn't intend to ask. Since there were no other customers yet, Keith took a seat. “Give me something that won’t get me a ticket for driving and let’s talk.”

She staggered down the backstreet, clothes torn and filthy, hair a mess; looking for all the world like a homeless person. How did she get there? What happened last night? She couldn’t remember, aside from a few flashes. A man with blood red eyes. A sharp pain in her neck. Three men in an alley, much like the one she was in. A driving hunger. She shuddered and stumbled along. Something, an instinct, told her to avoid the sun, so she stuck to the shadows as she moved. And an unsatisfied craving lurked beneath her consciousness. She feared it. She needed help, but had no idea where to look for it.
This RP takes place in a port city I have named (after much deliberation) Newport. As such, I realize all our characters may or may not interact, so this is a list of current pre-created NPCs, what they do and (in come cases) an idea of their personality. They may or may not grow to play important roles. You are free to create minor NPCs as the need occurs, and I'll try to add them to the list as you do.

Howard Brown- the portly owner of Newport Butchery. Though he on the upper end of his fifties, he can gut you with his butcher knife fast than you can say jack. Even vampires mind their manners around him.

Mike, Janet, Henry, Josephine and Troy Dale- the family of Mike's Buffet. Janet is Mike's wife and the rest are their children. Henry runs the bar, Troy the kitchen and Josephine is one of the waitresses.

Doc Turner- The human that heads Paws. Kindhearted but very firm, he has some skills in the medical magic arts as well as in casting wards and bindings.

Garret- A shady figure that acts as the councils representative in the city. No one knows what he is, but he is always changing his look and personality.

Keith Matthews- Local police detective that is aware of the supernatural community and covers for minor offenses that are related, though he does not particularly like it. Frequently stops by both Stained Pages and After Dark; Tyler and James being contacts for him. If he suspects something, he generally gives them a call.

Susan Wells- a shy 19 year old that has a crush on Jason. She works in a hair salon near Stained Pages, but is unaware of the supernatural communities.

Andrew Bryson- one of the news reporters in the city. Recently ran a scathing story on both After Dark and the Moon chain of bars. It is believed he has suspicions about the supernatural community and is under watch so he does not foil the attempt to come out carefully.

Lenard Anderson- one of the city health inspectors. For some reason, he always gets assigned to Stained Pages and to After Dark. Frequently notes to abundance of blood and animal hair at the two locations. He is strict and unbending and seems to have a grudge against the two establishments.

Dalia Paiton- the city mayor. His assistant is part fae, but he himself is unaware of the more magical residents of his town.

Kyle Morrison- a regular member of Tyler's Fantasy Club and has great interest in the supernatural. He is only 15 and is a bit geeky.

Nordia Carr- a random character that I don't a job/purpose for yet

Jane Fredric- lawyer, one of the best in town too. Takes her job seriously and is a bit of an arrogant know-it-all *****

Rhonda Law- a high school teacher who volunteers at Sanguine Misson

Walter Rice- another currently purposeless character

Clark Nazima- Japanese-American doctor at the hospital

Evangeline McDowell- an insanely powerful day-walking vampire that recently moved to the city. She is known for moving from place to place so now one knows what she is planning. Makes her living as fashion designer. Looks somewhere between 10 or 12, but makes up for it with illusions and spells when the need demands it. A godly puppet master, she is said even have four or five puppets with souls.

James walked behind the bar for about a minute and when he came out carrying a glass of coke and, setting it in front of Keith, he said, " I assume this has to do with the recent Slasher attacks, after all, nearly all vampires in this town eventually come here where I will then be able to figure out which one is killing these innocent people. Unfortunately while I can confirm that it is a vampire, the vampire in question seems to be very reclusive and because of that, not one of the Vampires knows his name or daytime location. If you have the files on the dead than those would be useful cause you can tell a lot about a vampire from the way he feeds."

Cain wasn't too surprised. He was staring at the TV, after the reporter had finished he had simply continued cleaning glasses. He heard a seat shift and turned to greet a regular with a nod, before finishing the glass he was cleaning. The bar was quiet on these days, even more so with the 'Newport slasher' on the loose. Murder was not something new to him, but murder without purpose... Well, that's something else. Technically his murder could count as without purpose, as summoning voidborn wasn't necessarily something purposeful or important. But then again, he was pleasing the Void, and that was with purpose...

He was interrupted by a drunk. The man knocked on the serving ledge, hiccuped, and pointed his index finger at him. Cain couldn't do much else but oblige.

Jason inched closer to Tyler, careful not to draw the attention of the others who worked at the shop. Once he was close enough to whisper without being heard by the others, he let his thoughts be heard. "I'm worried they may be right. These murders are getting worse and worse; and the fact that they were missing blood only seems to strengthen that." His ears twitched, and he absently waved his hand to dismiss an approaching co-worker. "Sorry, busy," he apologized to him, before turning back to Tyler. "Should we go out tonight and try to investigate this? Or would it be better to stay under the radar and avoid attracting attention?"

Without warning a well known punk vampire came flying through the rough of the bar, screaming in pain as he collided with the ground, quickly following him were three of his associates who looked up at the hole with fear in their eyes as a strange man suddenly jumped through the gaping area. In his hands the man had two pitch black revolvers which were pointed at the vampire who came flying through the roof. The stranger spoke coldly to them, "I am going to make this simple... you four can tell me what you know about this place... or I can put you out of your misery now...." The leader of the group spat at the stranger speaking coldly to him. "Please... those bullets won't harm us... no matter what you do..." The stranger grinned cruely as he pulled out a bullet, speaking to the man slowly. "Each bullet are melted down purified silver with the symbols for a sunburst spell on the sides of the tip... the tip now is much more special... it was blessed with Holy water poored inot the tip and a cross imbued into the very tip of it...." He quickly fired two rounds at the biggest of the group causing him to suddenly fly back into the wall yelling in pain as his left arm and right leg suddenly disappeared, the stranger continued in one motion firing four rounds from his weapons into the chest of a smaller vampire and a scrawny tall vampire, watching the two suddenly turn to ashes.

The stranger chuckled as he slid his weapons back into their holsters glaring down at the punk. "Now then... I am going to ask you again... what do you know about this place?" The punk spat at him once again speaking out finally. "Like I am going... to tell you anything to you..."

The stranger smirked as he pulled out one of his revolvers again firing a round into his chest, penetrating his heart suddenly. "Then... I have no use for you..." The stranger chuckled as he pulled his blade up, sliding it into it's scabbard as the punk screamed loudly in pain as he slowly faded from existance. "Hmph... weaklings..." He reached down holding onto a necklace of a cross handing around his neck. "God is with me."

“I only wish,” Tyler said as he cleared away the counter items and stored them under the cupboards. His employer, after showing a brief flash of annoyance, shrugged and ambled off the handle the books section, making sure they weren’t damaged before butting them back on the shelf. Most of the goods were used any, but they did have a good amount of new books that tended to get stained pages when people read them in store. Hence the name.
“The council is going to ask me to look into this, it’s pretty obvious. Probably James too,” he added after a pause to think. “As much as I would rather stay out of this, I can’t. So better I get a head start before they pull another deadline card on us like during the Siren Case off Carter Island.” That was memorable. It was one of the first times he took Jason with him, and the council dropped a two day deadline on them to find and kill the Siren that was causing shipwrecks a few miles up the coast. “So I take it that you’re volunteering to help me in this job too?”

~~~~
“That’s the problem, we can’t find a pattern.” Keith spread case reports, photocopies of course, on the bar before him, taking a long sip from the coke. Each file had a picture pinned to it; a man splayed out in a living room, a dead mother tossed carelessly over her equally dead child, a prostitute in ripped clothes laying against a dumpster like a discarded doll, a homeless man with arms and one leg ripped off; all with no blood, but brutally mutilated and a rip to the neck.
“Cases one, four, five, and six,” he said, pointing to the reports. “The first, A Kenneth Longston; found in his apartment. Neighbour apparently heard noise and called the police. His girlfriend, who lived with him, is still missing. Five and seven were found in the morning by commuters. Four, Naomi Semming and her ten year old daughter Jenny, were found by a playmate and her parent who had plans for a sleep-over.” His voice choked. “The girl that found them is still in an institute. The father, Malcolm is also missing.
“The only trend we can see it that every two cases has a missing person we can identify.” Keith took another sip of the coke. He looked stressed, as if he had too much on his plate than he could handle. “I can’t cover this one up James. I’m not even on this case. There isn’t much I can do. This just might be the crime that rips away the veil of secrecy you and your community pride so much. If you don’t figure out a way to fix this, it will be messy. For everyone.”
It was getting darker. The trickles of sunlight that hit her didn’t burn as much as they did before. She scrambled across the intersection, ignoring the honks or angered drivers and the cries of dismayed pedestrians. Am I dying? Is this what it is like when your end is near? She thought to herself, over and over. She stumbled, tripped and fell. It was too much; she broke into tears on the sidewalk, oblivious to the stares and remarks of onlookers. Rising unsteadily to her feet, she blindly staggered down the street. When she collapsed again, the aching hunger pounding at her head, she was at the rear door of somewhere that smelled like a hospital or something similar. Lost, with no other options, she pounded at the door.
((OOC: AKA Sanguine Mission))
Screams erupted through the bar as people dashed out of the way. It was too early for most of the supernatural to be out in any significant number, and those that were there new better than to tangle with a Hunter. The drunken idiot at the bar grinned stupidly at the man that burst in, ignorant of the danger he was in, too far in his stupor to care anyway. The regular, who had yet to take his first sip, did on the two things natural to sober people that gun shooting men that punched a hole through the ceiling: fainted dead away. And judging from the sound his head made when it hit the counter, he wasn’t getting up anytime soon.
Cain sighed as quietly as he could, trying to maintain his anger at this other newcomer who had just pulled out guns on some customers. He had just finished the few glasses that needed cleaning so he had some free time. Sure, he might kill, but he still needed a job. Last time he checked he was staff, and staff don't allow this to happen.
Well, competent staff at least.
He grabbed a bottle of vodka from the shelf and began to pour a glass. All the while staring down the hunter. He set the glass on the ledge and slid it across to where the man was standing. "Drink up."
"The vampire who did these is obviously very violent and angry, that much is obvious" said James as he looked at the brutal photos. "he is also one who believes he either has to kill or enjoys killing so much that he is willing to risk the supernatural world in order to do that. Aside from that though, notice that V shaped slash on the cheek of all of them, that is the mark of a dangerous vampire, one cursed to always put that mark on the cheek of his victims by some white witches. Tomorrow I will talk to Tyler about this and see if I can get Rajin to bring it to the attention of the council" turning away he mused to himself "if this guy is so bloody dangerous why doesn't anyone have his name yet."
Jason nodded, and clasped Tyler's shoulder affectionately. He would never be able to convey just how much he cared for his fellow werewolf, but he always did his best. "Of course I'll help you. I'd probably follow you to the end of the world, if only because of what you've given me. Let's hope this blows over soon. It's probably giving a bad rap to Newport. I'm gonna go out, do a little detective work." With that, he brushed a thin coat of dust off a nearby book, and left the store, confident the other coworkers would be able to clean up. When Tyler had mentioned that memory, it had brought memories flooding back into his mind. That case had been...quite memorable, to say the least.
~~~
Aaron had been working hard under the Doc all day. The vet had a full name, but Aaron only ever called him Doc. They had a very...interesting relationship. In a way, Doc provided Aaron with a place to sleep, and the occasional meal, and tons of medical help. Now, he slumped against the door, breathless and tired. He had worked hard, and deserved a good nap. Noting the position of the sun, he vowed not to sleep too long, then crawled into a large, empty kennel, and shifted to his fox form. Now fitting in the kennel, he lay down, put his head on his paws, and fell into a deep sleep.

Sven was administering the Anointing of Sick on a man who was on the verge of life by his bedside. The man was old and his hair was tangled and falling off all over. His teeth were missing and had a foul stench all over his body. On his neck, a very large bite mark on the side of his neck. He was one of the unseen victims of the roving supernatural, hidden simply because he was considered the filth of society. Already far from help, he managed to find refuge at the mission. Sven dipped his hands in anointed oil and rubbed the man's chest a cross in the oil, while praying for mercy and strength for the man.
"May the Lord have mercy on you, and deliver you from sin. Let us pray the word Jesus taught us," Sven said before reciting the Lord's Prayer. Once the prayer was done, the man reached out with the last of his strength and grabbed Sven's hands.
"Thank you..." the man whispered before his grip loosened and his hands fell to his side. Sven checked for the man's pulse, but felt none.  The man had left this world for the next, leaving behind his life of hardship.
"Requiescat in pace," Sven said, closing the dead man's eyes, making him look like he is simply sleeping. He walked away from the bed, nodding to two attendants who were waiting nearby. They walked over and began the morbid task of bringing the body to the morgue. Sven sighed, wishing that he could have done more to help the man. Had he found the man sooner, he may have been able to save him before the gangrene set in. It was those soulless daemons which had slain that man, which reminded Sven why he was here in the first place. Sven had to sit down to try to sort out his emotions.
He was snapped out of his gloom when someone was knocking on the door. Sven quickly got up and rushed to the door. He found a wounded woman, with her hair clothes a mess and with bite marks on her neck. Without saying a word, Sven helped the woman to her feet and into an examination table, which was used for treating all patients. He quickly checked the wound in the woman's neck. Sven instantly recognized it as a vampire bite and quickly went into action. He pulled a suitcase from the corner of the room and pulled out vials of garlic powder, silver nitrate in solution, holy water and bandages with crosses printed on them. He mixed the water, silver solution and the garlic and soaked the bandages in it before applying the wound. This was the prescribed treatment for fresh vampire victims, but it only worked half of the time. After apply the bandage, he took out his crucifix and his book of Psalms and began reading from the book, mentally praying that he was not too late again.

Leo looked down from the top of Sanguine Mission. In front of the back door he saw a woman staggering towards it holding her neck. He took a whiff of the air and smelled it, oxygen, iron, plasma, if could only be blood. He saw Sven take her inside and once the doctor was inside, he jumped off, landing on his feet, he entered through the backdoor and saw him take her to the examination table. It's possible, he thought, he saw her and sensed that she could be healed, but it might be a longshot. He walked towards the doctor and the woman, taking care to place his vampiric heirloom inside his shirt, and made a face as a reaction to the smell of the garlic. As a vampire he was of course weakened by it, but being part werewolf, he had a stronger sense of smell meaning the smell would be stronger so he would theoretically be more prone to it. He tried to mask his discomfort and asked the doctor as he was finishing one of his prayers, "Do you think she'll make it?" he took in the smell again and thought it is possible to save her, but the chances are very slim.

Keith nodded and packed up his papers. He was on duty in half an hour and needed to get back to the station. He was really hoping that James could provide a solid lead and downcast when he couldn’t, though not all that surprised. “I just hope that we can get a handle on this case before it erupts into something we’ll regret. If anything new comes up. I’ll contact you.” With that, he head back out, nothing how the crowds were stating to swell as the night grew darker. He never did like this place at night.

~~~~
“You guys got lock-up, right?” Tyler asked generally. Various responses came back, but they were generally positive, so he nodded and followed Jason out. The staff had gotten used to Tyler’s random comings and goings, even to the fact that he often took Jason with him. Tyler brushed those idle thoughts away and headed off to After Dark. True, weres weren’t usually allowed in, most tended to dislike vampires and vice versa, but he needed to check if the council appealed to James yet.
~~~~

The girl’s eyes snapped open; pupils bright red and the whites heavily bloodshot. He mouth gapped and an unholy scream, like souls tortured in the pits of hell, pour out, rattling the glassware and windows in the room. She twisted and writhed on the examination table. Smokey steam billowed from beneath the bandages and the distinct smell of burnt flesh rose up in the room. She screamed again, a sound that was sure to be able to be heard from the streets and arched her back in agony.

~~~~
Outside the Doc’s place, a pair of glowing eyes surveyed the building from the forest line. Another pair joined the first, followed by one more soon after. The first set growled at the other two and they cringed away from it. Satisfied, it turned it`s attention back to the facility. Scenting the air, it detected nothing but humans and animals. No wolves or weres of any kind. After a few more moments of staring at the buiding, they vanished back into the forest.
~~~~

With the sun finally setting, he woke from his sleeps and stretched. He was surprisingly human in that manner, despite not being one for countless years. The grand hall was fairly empty, only two others being present. They turned adoring eyes on him as he entered. He blinked and cocked his head as he sensed distress, a wry smile on his face. “Hmm, it seems someone is playing with my new daughter,” he commented as he took a seat. The two present hastened over and kneeled before him.
“Would you like us to punish the one who torments our sister, father?” the larger of the two asked, hope in his eyes.
“No no, my child,” He said dismissively. “It is too early for such actions, but soon. Besides, your sister is in a most interesting place.”

Jason was walking down the street, headed in the general direction of After Dark, which happened to coincide with him walking in front of the salon at which Susan Wells worked. She was a young woman, and quite pretty in Jason's eyes. He slowed, and his eyes roamed the shop, spying her working on a customer. She saw him in a window, perhaps, and turned to see him. As she waved, Jason waved back, and offered her a smile, before turning and continuing his march towards the overly vampire, werewolf-hating bar. As he walked, he considered what exactly he was going to do when he got there. He had never been good with plans, mostly action.
~~~~~~
Aaron shifted in his sleep, then woke up and lifted his head. He was filled with the strange feeling that something was watching him. But, as his night-sensitive eyes roamed the veterinary clinic, he saw that there was nobody around. He let out a large yawn, stretching his jaws and showing off glistening white teeth. Now he was awake, he stood up. He couldn't go back to sleep without readjusting, so he walked in a small circuit of circles, before settling himself again on his black paws, his white tail fanned out and curled around him. As he fell asleep, his dreams filled with images of large, piercing eyes that were watching his every move.
Sven cursed under his breath before quickly removing the bandages. Once again, he was too late to save another. The skin under the bandages appeared horribly burnt and covered in hives. Sven went into his suitcase and took out a vial labelled "Witch Hazel". He rubbed the solution into the wound, almost magically removing the burns and the hives, leaving behind healthy skin. Sven took a few steps back and sat down in a chair, just noticing Leo, who had been standing behind him for an unknown amount of time.
"I was too late. The vampirism spread too far already. If I try to treat her now, I will only cause her unimaginable pain. The best I can do now is simple let the vampirism run its course and ensure the transformation does not kill her..."
Bright lights shone in a seemingly pleasent hotel as a man dressed in a balck uniform asked a seemingly important man, "Welcome Mr. Burnquist checking in early tonight?"
"Yes, I'm getting tired dont send anyone up to disturbe me." Mr. burnquist replied
"Very good sir." he got out his key card opened the elevator for him "Have a good night sir."
Mr. burnquist went into his room quickly and quitely and looked down from the balcony, closed the curtains, looked in the fridge and pulled out a few cokes and a salad. "Damn, is salad the only thing the rich ever eat?" Shift has been using the identity of Mr. burnquist quite a while now. Just another business visitor out on meetings or having dinner with executives at a restraunt.
shift turned on the T.V and turned to the news, looking at a familiar face he's seen many times before. "We are now going live to Andrew Bryson with a report on peculiar events. Andrew?"
Andrew was next to the mayor of newport, Dalia Paiton "Mr. Mayor they're are many cases of missing men and women on the streets yet they find no bodies out of the city or within the city limits. dont you think this neighborhood is getting more and more peculiar? These events seem to be increasing in frequency."
The mayor seemed nervous and unprepared on how to answer this "well we are trying our best to investigate these matters, and who ever or what ever is behind this will all be taken care of accordingly to what is suitable."
"And Mr. Mayor say this is an organized group, with alterior motives other than kidnap. Maybe a deeper goal or target?" Andrew said in a more stern and threaten voice as if he was trying to pry another truth from his interveiwee
"uhh... they will certainly not go unpunished..." he replied weakly.
shifts gut wrenched, he hasnt been discovered ever, he dosnt know anyone who has, but just hearing "not go unpunished" disturbed him, suddenly he heard voices outside
"WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN I ALREADY CHECK IN? THIS IS A LAST TIME YOUR MAKING THIS f***ing MISTAKE!" shift ran to the balcony looked at a crow and jumped off...
the door opened, "s*** I must've left the T.V on when I left, with your s*** service thats not going on my bill."
the poor hotel worker looked at him trying to hide his anger "of course sir."
"Just let the vampirism run it's course. She'll probably be hungry when she wakes, I'd better go get her some blood before then or she'll try to snack on some of the people here." Leon left through the back door and started running towards the butchery, where he would find a light snack for himself and the newborn at Sanguine Mission. He took some packed blood as well as a piece of freshly cut meat which he devoured on his way back. He made his way to the port where he rinsed his mouth out with water before proceeding to the mission. When he got there he took a piece of gum he had in his pocket and began to chew it, to hide the smell of blood in his mouth which even he could smell. He opened the door to find the newborn vampire waking up and he placed the blood packet next to her. "Drink up, you're a vampire now so you'll be needing plenty of this stuff regularly."
(OOC: I just assumed the blood was sold in packets, if that's wrong I'll edit my post)
Seeming to appear from nowhere, Tyler laid a hand on Jason’s shoulder. He grinned at his employee and gave him a word of advice. “Don’t cause a scene here please. I can cast a disinterest spell on you, but it will break if you bring the attention to yourself.” He shrugged as he wove the threads of the spell around himself and Jason. “We just need to talk with James a bit. Maybe ask some of the pulseless in the bar if they know anything.”
He considered what he could -what they could, do next. The night was just starting really, and he wanted to get as much done before the city enforced the curfew rule. To track the killer, he would need a scent. And to get the scent he needed the crime scene. Joy. “You up for a run to the crime scene after this visit?” he ask Jason.
She seemed to settle down after the mixture was removed. Her breaths were still heavy, and shivers ran along her body from head to toe, but she wasn’t screaming. Though not obvious, the little that Sven did managed to hinder the process. The vampiric blood that was coursing through her veins had been partially eliminated. With a shudder, her body stilled; not movement, no breath, no heart beat. A few moments of dead silence later, air rushed into her lungs with a gasp and her heart started up again, though much weaker and slower than before. Her mouth gaped, fangs prominent and the air she just took in surging out in a hiss. Though the blood of her maker was too dilute to finish the process, her mind was still lost to the thirst. And two lovely warm bodies were so close. In an instant, she launched herself off the table and at Sven.
Sven had expected such a violent reaction from a new vampire. Vampires cannot resist blood so close, especially when they have not had their first drink. Sven pulled out his crucifix and struck the vampire woman in the solar plexus with the end of it, winding her and knocking her into the medical table, which scraped backwards with a loud screech. Sven then grabbed the girl's face and knocked the back of her head hard against the blunt edge of the table, incapacitating her. Although the treatment of the enemy would be brutal by human standards, vampires are able to tae much more damage than a human could and Sven knew such force was necessary. Sven then calmly sat back down, panting slightly.
James was pulling up his pants and putting on his shirt, as quickly and as quietly as he could before waking
"mmm....mmm?" an naked girl was shifting in bed.
"s***" james muttered under his breath *dont wake up* was the thought running through his head. As he inched closer and closer towards the door, he opened the door behind him and quietly slipped out.
instantly shift turned from a James into a Stephanie and walked only a few steps and turned a corner to met the real James. "Hey! Steph, listen I know you wanted me to be their last night, but ill make it up to you I have a few moments now so your room?"
"sure actually, can you wait here a bit and come in my room maybe like 5 minutes later? Don't worry it wont take long, its just that I need to clean my room a bit before you come in." this thin lie was all shift had at the moment
"uhh sure i guess so..." shift quickly turned back towards Stephanie's room and saw a janitor working in the hall way, shift as stephanie smiled at him and went up to him, the janitor smiled back.
"listen, I need you in that janitors room right now..." the janitor was speechless and followed shift dumbly, they quickly slipping into the janitors rooms and shift knocked his head into the wall unconcious,
He changed shape into the janitor and came out with a broom. That took 5 minutes to do and just as he came out of the room as a janitor, James was turning the corner.
shift quickly left and went outside the school campus, turning into different students every 10 seconds in a large crowd of them so he wouldnt be noticed.
he got in the principles car, and left the campus.
*theres gotta be more to life than cheap pleasures* shift thought to himself *there has got to be one person in the world who is worth getting to know and worth helping*
Jason nodded, and gently pulled Tyler's hand from his shoulder. "Don't worry, Tyler. Whatever happens tonight, I won't let anything happen. The last thing we need right now is a repeat of...the last time." He thought back to it, then quickly shifted his mind away. "That could possibly be the worst thing to happen now," he guessed. "Anyway, yeah, I'd love to go for a run around the crime scene. It'd probably be best to go as wolves; we'd get the most scents, and with out heightened senses, we'd be able to tell them apart and identify them." He nodded curtly to his friend. "You know I don't want to cause any scenes. They just seem to happen around me all the time, whether I want them or not. So...anything that happens isn't my fault." They had, meanwhile, passed in front of the veterinary clinic. Glancing quickly inside, Jason saw the sleeping form of a red fox. He recognized it as the fox-form of the young shapeshifter, Aaron. He thought about waking him to explain and have him join them, but decided against it.
“You keep telling yourself that,” Tyler said with a wry smile, light patting Jason’s shoulder. “Maybe, just maybe, it might come true one day.” When they arrived, the bar was working its way to the regular press of the crowd, and Tyler could tell several vampires were out, hunting the crowd for their next meal. With the spell in place, slipping in unnoticed was too easy. He did a quick glance over of the room, and smiled when he noticed none of the more troublesome vampires were out yet. It would make his job a bit easier. With a nod at Jason, he headed towards James.
The knock seemed to break the lust that had possessed the girl. She slumped to the floor like a puppet with its strings cut. Her eyelids fluttered for a few moments before she started rocking back and forth on the floor. Crying softly, she mumbled to no one in particular. “Won’t... won’t... won’t... won’t...” Over and over, like a mantra, he head beating a rhythm against the leg of the table.
"Hello Tyler, I see you brought Jason along too, I'm assuming that this is about the recent murders around town that have been happening, I was going to come talk to you tomorrow about them but since you are here then take a seat and we'll discus them now." James motioned towards the empty seats in front of the bar, motioning for Tyler and James to sit down so that they could discuss the murders. "From what I know the murders are being carried out by a vampire who is very reclusive, none of the vampires I've talked to know anything about him. He has a deep anger inside him though, and a need to kill his victims and he has the witch curse on him from sometime but I don't know from how long ago as that same mark has been used for thousands of years. The bottom line is that we have to find and stop him before he kills too many more people and wreaks any chances of the Vamps and Weres being recognised and known by the common people without being still known as monsters."
Sven sighed in pity of the woman, who had regressed into a catatonic state. Her human side was fighting back against the vampirism, but it had already made itself a part of her very being. There was no cure and attempting exorcise the evil from her would only killer her. Sven helped the woman to her feet and led her to a free bed in the hospice. After she lay down, Sven fastened her to the bed with leather restraints.
After all this was done, Sven finally turned to Leo, who had been watching him quietly the whole time.
"Ah, Leo. Nice to see you again. As you could see, I was a little busy with a new patient. Vampirism is become a plague here. So many of them are turning up that I do not have time to work on the cure. To make things worse, something has been rampaging the streets and hunting down innocent people! Too much to do..."
"Excellent," Tyler groaned, resting his elbow on the counter and propping his forehead on his palm. "You certainly know how to make guy's life easier. As if worrying about the Blood Hound's wasn't enough of a challenge." Tyler massaged his forehead as he thought things over. The murders were scattered about the city, no evidence of the perp having a feeding ground, and James had immediately proved to be a dead end. His night was certainly proving to be more unrewarding than he had hoped. It was a good thing he decided to look into this before the council dropped the case in his lap. "Did Keith drop by? I think I catch his trace, but with all the druggies, drinkers and smokers around..." the air was filled with all sorts of crap and it was hard to pin down particular and older scents. Maybe in wolf form, but not as a man. "Did he tell you anything good?"
A man climbed the steps to the mission's front door and dignity and purpose. His expensive looking suit, rich polished wood cane, shiny black shoes and slick black hair definitely didn't fit the description of the mission's usual clients. He had the weathered look of a man in his eighties, but his movements and posture and the energy barely contained beneath his skin averted his age and instead gave him an aura of timelessness. He paused for an instant at the threshold and knocked on the door; two sharp and precise raps that clearly wasted nothing and was easily heard throughout the building. He reached for a pocket watch and glanced at it before tucking it away, leaning on his cane for appearances only.
"He was here but not really, but I could figure out the vamps personality from the pictures of the victims, besides if it was that easy, it wouldn't be a challenge. A word of advice though, if we do find him, he will most likely try to kill us rather than let himself be taken in. If you go check the crime scenes and see what scents you can pick up, and I check the bodies for anything I might have missed on the pictures, and the blood taste and type in case this vamp has a preference, we could meet up tomorrow at your bookshop at noon, maybe, we can figure out who this vamp is." James turned away to give another customer a drink before returning to Tyler. "You should probably leave now before the regulars remember that you two are weres and start a fight."
