Spartan919
Kai looked over to where Emiko was looking, and saw that she was indeed peering at his Renamon. Turning back to her, he nodded and smiled. From the way she had stormed off to get food, it probably wasn't too easy to tell whose she was. She could be brash like that. Kai chuckled and smiled. "Yeah, she's my Renamon. Though she's usually in a better mood. Being stuffed into a Leash all day can make her grumpy." He had been staring nonchalantly at Emiko, but his look intensified when she adjusted her bow, and he was piqued with an unusual amount of curiosity. He saw that she treated the bow delicately, and upon closer inspection, the bow was old and well-used. He refrained from asking her about it, however, worried that it would offend her, or open old wounds, or something. Instead, he turned his gaze to her eyes. He watched them, observed the emotions that played out in them, before he came up with a remark. "You know," he said conversationally, "your eyes almost seem like emeralds." Hydra of Ages
Leiko blinked at Renamon when she appeared, and shook her head. "Honestly, I'll never understand you people and your EGLs... you treat them like pets." She forked her tofu with a bit more intensity than it required, wishing she'd bitten her tongue, but then mentally shrugging it off. She didn't want to seem too bitter, or scare any of them off -they were the closest things she had to friends, after all- but it honestly did bug her the nonchalance they treated their partners with. True, EGLs are tied to their partners in more ways than one, but did they forget that they -fought- digimon? That they were the enemy? After all, any of their partners could rip all them to shreds at any given time... and she didn't doubt for a moment that they wouldn't if given the opportunity. They were implanted with Gizumon tech for a reason, but that could still fail, couldn't it? Was it safe to really trust them that much? She spared a glance at her own watch, which contained Kunamon. She never really talked to it much, nor tried to associate with it outside of training; aside from looking really creepy (to her, anyway), she couldn't look at it without getting chills. Memories of that day -how long ago now, she couldn't remember- when she was almost killed by a DABO much like Kunamon... and even now, remnants of its data floated in her head, iching her skull, giving her fitful dreams, memories of that day, memories she didn't recognized that tormented her just by existing, pressing into her brain and burning it like hot iron... She shuddered a little- it was little wonder she was an insomniac. She put down her fork, not really feeling hungry anymore. The file didn't really seem too appealing to her either, and she contemplating just taking it now and leaving- for some reason, she didn't want to leave it with the others. Hotaru987
Emiko tilted her head slightly from Kai's observation. "My eyes? I suppose they do, but I don't like to look at them." She admitted her expression changing into sadness for a brief second, before returning to it's emotionless state. "They don't look the same as they once did." Emiko was glad he did not ask about the ribbon around her neck - as she had seen him look at it when she was fixing it. The tale behind it wasn't something she wished to relive, at least not yet. When Leiko spoke, Emiko turned her attention to her. She sounded as though she didn't really trust the EGLs, but she must have had her reasons. Emiko couldn't see herself not trusting Paomon. True he may be one of the very things they are trying to fight...But...She couldn't see Paomon ever hurting her. Not if he truely did reflect her earlier personality. "How do you propose we treat them?" Emiko finally asked Leiko wanting to hear her oppinion on the matter. No one could tell if she was genually interested because her face and voice stayed as monotone as ever.
Hydra of Ages
"Well..." Leiko was rather uncomfortable giving her opinion, but she supposed she couldn't really avoid it she were directly asked. "They should be considered a... bit more professionally I guess? I mean, I don't think you should go totally Yukio with them-" -Bad choice of words, she realized a moment afterwards, considering Yukio had totally crushed the mind of his partner- "-B-but, you know, they're dangerous. It's not like they're human or anything, they're just nice because they feed off parts of our mind, right?" Or at least that was how she understood it. EGLs were kept in check by the mind of their Tamer, though nobody could tell exactly which aspects made an ideal Tamer; adults were completely incapable of keeping EGLs in check, and even some kids were't suitable. It was understood that it had something to do with the emotional state of the Tamer, but exactly WHAT about their emotional state still had to be discovered. "...A-anycase, I just don't think it's t-too wise to let your guard down so much... I mean, remember when any of you were originally brought into the project? Remember how the EGL was trying to kill you before you bonded it? I just don't trust them, that's all," she muttered, picking at her food. She was starting to feel depressed, so she thought about how to lighten the mood. "O-oh, right! The folder!" she said with a smile, picking it up. "We still haven't seen everything in it. Who wants to take a peek fir-" "I'll be taking that," Yukio said, calmly plucking the folder from Leiko's outstretched hands from behind. The girl froze in place briefly before turning to face her superior officer, totally red in the face. "Y-yukio! Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't notice you were there! I tried to return the files, but you know, you went directly to Alpha Complex and I'm not all-" she stopped when it was obvious he wasn't listening. The boy shook his head a bit, and stared at the table for a couple moments. "Leiko's point is not unfounded. EGLs are dangerous," he said without emotion. "Even seemingly kind ones." There was a momentary pause. Leiko could have sworn there was a hint of some sort of feeling in his eyes, though she really couldn't be sure. Come and think of it, she didn't know too much about how Yukio felt about his bonding, and what exactly happened. How was he able to crush the mind of a DABO? But before she could ask, the boy turned and headed back to the elevator, still wearing his uniform, the back adorned with the symbol of his rank. Leiko swallowed a little and stirred her food with her fork.
Spartan919
Kai shook his head, forgetting Emiko for the moment. These two were seriously hating these things. He cast a glance at Rena, who spared him a pained look; she didn't like what they'd said either. He clenched his fists, angry at how they had simply been cast into lots they had no choice in. "It doesn't matter that they're dangerous. When has that ever stopped the human race before? Long ago, wolves were, and still are, ferocious, dangerous, killing animals. But humans tamed them, domesticated them, and breeded them into the dogs we know today." He took a breath, and momentarily wondered why he was getting so worked up. "I don't care how dangerous Renamon, or any of the other EGL's here, are. They have minds, thoughts, emotions, everything we do. It is simply a fear of the unknown that causes us to be wary." Hotaru987
Emiko quietly listened to Leiko, and then to Yukio who appeared seemingly out of no where to take back the folders Leiko was abotu to look into a few seconds before. Before Leiko left he gave his oppinion, which was in agreement with Leiko's. Emiko was still processing their answers, when Kai - who seemed angered by their remarks - gave his view on things as well. She looked at Paomon who was staring at his food depressed, which Emiko has only seen when he was remembering the times before their bond was made. "I guess you and Yukio have a point." She stared directing her answer towards Leioko, "They have proven to be dangerous and uncontrollable creatures. Whos to say that the EGLs wont turn on their tamer when they least expect it." Emiko still kept both her face and voice in an emotionless, and neutral disposition. She didn't really comprihend the multitude of emotions the others may be feeling, so her answer wasn't really biased to either side. "However, until that day may come I won't treat Paomon any differently that I have been. He has my trust until he so proves me wrong." She smiled at Paomon but it never reached her eyes. It was as if she was simply going through the motions, but Paomon happily returned the smile - knowing that getting Emiko to smile was rare - glad that Emiko didn't agree with Leiko or Yukio. Quiksilver
"If EGLs are so dangerous to us, then consider what they must think of us." Rika's voice suddenly said after Yukio had left, it's tone cold and flat. The argument between Rika and her EGL had ended abruptly, Rika now totally focused on the conversation Emiko, Leiko, and Kai were holding; Coronamon seemed to be interested only in his tacos, but his eyes betrayed his interest in the conversation as well; they flickered back and forth between the parties involved. "Consider it from their point of view; they were simply doing what they did" -Rika had no idea how the scientists how formed the EGLs, only that it involved data- "when suddenly, they were forced to come here and were surrounded by hostile beings that wanted to put them into what is, essentially, slavery. Now, I would be a little aggressive if that happened, wouldn't you?" "Now, I'm not speaking for ALL Digimon; certainly, the Digimon that broken through the barrier before we're dangerous and vicious- but so can human beings. Can we judge the Digimon race simply by the few individuals who have broken into our world? Additionally, these Digimon have to be extraordinarily strong to indeed get into this world, and power has a way of making people more ruthless and cruel." There was sorrow in Rika's eyes as she said the next part. "Believe me, I know."
GreyCat
Kazu took a bite of his food ans swallowed it with hardly any chewing and barely tasting it. He didn't like wasting food, no matter how bad it was. Besides, it wasn't as awful as some of his own early attempts at cooking. The topic the others were currently on was an interesting one, to say the least. he wasn't surprised that Yukio shared Leiko's views. In fact, it was a view that a good portion of the personnel held on to. And one that probably wouldn't change anything soon. He gulped another bite before adding his own opinion to the discussion. "Look at it this way," he said, waving his fork in the air is subdued sweeping motions. "Leor is down in my room right now, most likely napping, because he finds the meetings even more boring than I do and doesn't like being cramped in the leash if he can avoid it. But he will to get into a fight for the sake of someone he considers a friend." He tapped his fork on his plate as he continued. "True, digimon may have enough power to level, or badly damage a city block, but what is important is how and why they use that power. Like Kai pointed out, dogs descended from wolves, and some dogs, despite how much they love you, are still leashed and muzzled to prefect them from hurting others." A quick jab speared another piece of [s]silicone[/s] tofu, but he didn't put it in his mouth just yet. "Digimon are strong, yes, but they also have feelings, emotions and cares. Treating them like enemies or tools is not going to get them to trust you and listen to you. Back to dogs. They have leashes and collars, but a dog you treat well won't need it all the time. Leor is aggressive and has his cuffs that can restrain him if necessary, but because I take care of him and treat him like a friend, he know what I dislike and how fragile we humans are in comparison and restrains himself." Hydra of Ages
Leiko had to resist a sigh. She supposed she could argue, but what would really be the point? Neither side had anything really resembling evidence, so in all likelihood, it'd just turn to pointless bickering after a while. "I suppose we'll have to agree to disagree," she said after a moment, taking a bite of her tofu. After a couple more mouthfuls, her stomach was full enough to stop complaining of hunger, and start complaining at the quality of what she was putting into it- she took that as the right time to stop eating. "Well... I think I'm done..." she said after a moment, pushing her plate a little away from her and standing up. "I think I'll head off to bed right now. Big day tomorrow, and everything..." In reality, she was going to do nothing of the sort. Leiko hadn't had a peaceful night's rest since she joined DARTS, and slept as little as she could feasibly get away with. Usually, she just headed off to the library to doze for a couple of hours, which was almost like sleep. If she kept her head full, she wouldn't dream. She waved them goodbye, then beat a path towards her favorite spot. Her cheeks were a bit flushed. Digimon have emotions? Maybe. But they shouldn't, that was obvious. Digimon were by nature, hateful, destructive creatures: sure, they might be humane with their own kind, but it was easy to tell they regarded humanity as nothing less than a stain on the world as it was. She never told DARTS much about her dreams, aside from the fact she had them. A couple scientists had theorized that when her conscious mind went offline, the data circling her brain took over and essentially made her a DABO until she woke up again. She could hear something when she was asleep -never any clear words, but close enough to get their meaning- and it was never pleasant. Whatever DABO were, they had horrors deeply imprinted into their very nature, she was sure of that. The bond most of them shared with their partner... she wondered if it might be a sort of indoctrination. After all, maybe with weak wills like theirs, they weren't able to completely suppress their DABO's will... No, that was silly. She shook her head- sometimes her own thoughts scared her, and not just the ones she had while asleep. Far more likely that they were, like her, scared kids who latched onto their digimon as a substitution for their own missing families. It made sense. She might have done it herself, if she hadn't developed her crippling fear of DABOs before hand- a phobia that eventually metamorphosized into a full-blown hatred. Still, it wasn't an all-consuming hatred, which she hoped it'd never become. She wanted DABOs dead, yes, but she wanted other things too. Friends, for one. And she wasn't adverse to working with Kunamon either, though it did make her feel vaguely unclean- after all, whatever got results, right? She closed her eyes. Cleared her head. Then smiled, and thought about what she'd read tonight. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, perhaps? She could use something engaging that wouldn't remind her of the upcoming battle, after all. Spartan919
Kai watched her take the final bites of her "meal." Then, glancing down, he saw that he really hadn't touched his own food. As Leiko finished, stood up and left, Kai dug in to the food, although none to fondly. Rena, next to him, began eating her own food, though at a much slower and more peaceful pace. After swallowing a particularly large bite, Kai took a deep breath, trying to regain his composure. Geez, this stuff tastes bad! But I never really that it was that bad before... The food somehow seemed worse than usual; Kai wondered if something had been added. Shrugging, he looked down at his food, and his face morphed into one of disgust. "Ugh," he said, slowly pushing the plate away. "Tastes as horrible as always." He wiped his face clean with a napkin, then smiled at Emiko, who was still, thankfully, sitting and had not left like Leiko or Yukio. He had noticed her smile, and he could swear it seemed to light up her face. He shook his head, then looked at her again. "How's your...meal?" he asked, his voice wavering. Hotaru987
Seeing that Leiko was taking her leave Emiko refrained from saying anything else to her. Instead she turned to Paomon who let out a particularly loud burp, before grinning widely, "Man! That was delicious!" He hopped into Emiko's lap, "But I'm stuffed now, and ready to sleep." She nodded as was about to follow Leiko's lead when Kai turned to her and started speaking again. She was actually surprised that he wanted to continue the conversation seeing as more than often her emotionless disposition in the conversation would cause people to leave. "I do not care for the food, so I eat as little as possible. Though Paomon seems to enjoy the tofu provided." She inclined her head towards the small digimon in her lap. "Do you not find it delicious?" She asked raising an eyebrow in a teasing jesture.
Spartan919
Kai smiled. He had thought Emiko had no sense of humor. It seemed that she had deceived him. He glanced down at her partner EGL, and saw that it had indeed consumed vast amounts of the food. Curious, Kai glanced at his own partner, to see that Rena was indeed eating her food quite happily. He caught her eye and raised an eyebrow in question. She shrugged, then nodded, before returning to the food. Letting out a small laugh, Kai looked down at the tofu...or whatever it was...that he had begun to eat. Whatever made up this stuff must appeal to the digital taste buds of the EGL's, or something; Kai didn't understand the EGL's completely, even though he had one as a partner. Sighing, he scooped up another bite and shoved it in his mouth. Suffering through it, he swallowed the bite and showed Emiko a big smile. "Not particularly," he said, a teasing glint in his eyes. "What about yours?"
Hotaru987
Emiko looked at her own tray, and at the few piece of left over tofu that somehow managed to survive Paomon's rampage. She glanced up at Kai before reaching for a piece, then popping it into her mouth. She chewed slowly pausing only slightly as the synthetic taste, and gelatin like feel of the food before swallowing. "Its...Disgusting." She admitted almost wanting to puke up what she just suffered through. "What are you talking about? It's delicious." Paomon countered staring up at his trainer as if she had grown two heads. "It's the best thing since sliced bread." The young tamer shook her head, "It's just one more thing we don't have in common." A familiar prickling feeling was starting to make itself known in the back of her head, and she sighed knowing that her time to leave was quickly approaching. The last thing she wanted was to be laid out on the ground, or worse in front of one of the other tamers, when her headaces came. If she's lucky maybe she could avoid another trip to the medical ward. That was her least favorite place in the entire DARTS base. At the moment it wasn't a problem, and to be truthful she really didn't want to leave as she was enjoying the conversation with Kai. So for the moment she would brave it out for as long as possible. "I think Kazu may have been right that it was made of silicone, because there is no way this is sutible for human consumption." She said her voice changing just the slightest indicating that she was joking.
Quiksilver
"Yeah, I doubt it is, too." Rika said in reply to Noriko's statement. She hadn't thought the girl had much of a sense of humor- much of a personality, to be frank- but it seems that even the great Rika was wrong. Well, I guess a blue moon does come around every once in a while... "You know what, I'm not hungry either," Rika said suddenly, standing up and pushing her plate away. She didn't have much of an appetite anymore- it probably had to do with her revealing so much to these people who were, essentially, strangers. But, Rika guessed, they probably deserved their trust more than anyone else- at least they hadn't betrayed them from a raise in pay and a vengeance. It might be thought that Rika, since her family was killed by Digimons, would have been negatively inclined to the creatures. And yet, Rika had always thought differently, seen things from a different perspective- and, instead of deeming all Digimon evil because of one Digimon in particular, she instead gave them the benefit of doubt, and Coronamon at least had proven her right; he was kind, funny, and outrageous, and sometimes seemed more human than any actual human. Compared to her Digimon, the rest of these people here were two-dimensional, flat characters who were easy to figure out, not that she wanted to, since most of these people were sick and cruel. The group, however, had managed to be the exception to this rule; they had seemed truly different from the greedy and immoral creatures that called themselves humans in this base, but, when Leiko had started talking about how all Digimon are evil and dangerous- well, it was only natural that Rika would respond to such a narrow point of view (in her mind) in a particularly vehement way. "I think it's time to go to bed, Coronamon," Rika said after coming out of her reverie. "Let's go," "Oh, no, can't we stay?" The Digimon whined. "This taco actually had some sauce on it..." "No, Cor. Now."
Spartan919
Kai resisted the urge to laugh uproariously, and let out a chuckle. This girl, Emiko, may not seem like it at first, but she was a great person to know. At least, so far as he knew yet. After he finished chuckling, he smiled at her. Then, he reached down and poked experimentally at the substance on his plate. It jiggled in response to his physical queries, causing a shudder from Kai. Shaking his head, he looked back to Leiko. "I'm not too sure this tastes like silicone. I'll bet you anything that silicone tastes better than this crap." He held a bite of food 'tantalizingly' up, and wiggled it in between him and her. The food wobbled, but before it could fall off, Kai shoved it into his mouth, shuddering at the taste as he did so. He detected movement next to him as he saw Rena shake her head slowly. After a grimace, he smiled at Emiko again. "Silicone's gotta taste better than this."
Hotaru987
Emiko smiled slightly from Kai's silly behavior. He made it really hard for her to feel uncomfortable, especially with how much he was smiling at her. At first she thought that maybe there was something wrong with his mouth that made him smile so much, but eventually chalked it up to, that he really was having a good time talking to her. Paomon looked up at Emiko's face, noticing that she was tense, which in his mind only ment one thing; it was time for them to go. "Emiko, I'm tired-" As a proof to the small digimons claim a loud and long yawn followed suit. "-And I'm ready for a good nap." Emiko was tempted to smile thankfully at Paomon, and took the excuse. It was best if she was on her way back to her room before her headaches really became a problem. Thankfully it was still a dull ache and not anything she couldn't manage. It was only her, Kazu and Kai left at the table - the other two females having left not too long ago. Emiko slowly and carefully - much like how she sat - stood from the seat. "I think it's about time we retire to our room. It was a pleasure talking to you both." She said nodding to both Kazu and Kai. "Good day." Emiko mumbled and quickly walked off, praying that she'd make it to her room and not collapse on the floor like before.
Hydra of Ages
Lab A-01 Aogashima ; Record Files Date CURRENT Clearance Level Beta {Research} 00:31 Activity normal. Fold-DABAD transference rate accelerated to 12.2% for a total of 1.01E17 nanoseconds. This is the largest recorded transference rate spike, dwarfing the previous record of 4.6% 1:12 Activity experiencing large distortions. Many transference rates spikes ranging from 8-11% have been recorded in intervals of 40 seconds. When fed through a Sound Translator, sound almost resembles music. 1:46 Transference spike rates off the charts, frequently eclipsing the observable 100%. Previous data may be misinformed. A continuous transference has been maintained since 1:32- an unprecedented record. 2:35 Observation totally blacked out. When activated, all instruments record maximum output- public opinion is that their meters are too fine-tuned in order to properly grasp the scale of current transference. Alarmingly, DABO-Emergence detector is unable to function for any time later than 92 days in the future. 6:52 Diagnostics have been run and information been tabulated. DABO-Emergence detector has not malfunctioned; rather, the size of an Emergence scheduled for 92 days in the future has eclipsed its entire display radius. Early estimates place size of DABO as around the same diameter as the island of Japan. This may account for the previously seen extraordinary transference rates. The symphonic melody it created when fed through the Sound Translator, however, is still unaccounted for- information suggests it may be a form of communication utilized by DABO.
- Yukio looked at the file that was on his desk. It was closed, and sitting innocently atop his normal pile of charts and stats- even so, he could feel it somehow. Glaring at him. He didn't like the folder- or rather, didn't like what it hid. That was why he left it behind, he thought- he simply didn't want to be near it anymore. The thought of touching it was repellent, and when he was distracted, his body had simply decided to leave it behind, no matter how foolhardy a task that would seem to be. His body did that often- things that he didn't want it to do. He was a slave to his flesh, his bones, his blood- even his hormones. His thought process was clear and sharp as glass- it was only in translation to his limbs, to his body, where it failed him. It was the curse of being human, being a mortal creature born with certain ingrained weaknesses- weaknesses that could be exploited. The DABOs didn't have that weakness. No matter how monstrous they seemed, he could tell- whatever the matter they were made up of truly was, 'data', it became increasingly obvious their mind and body were one unit. A digimon whose' mind was altered, would subtly change his physical form to reflect that change. A brutal digimon had a brutal body- a kind one had a kind body. Digimon were beings of complete unity. And that, of course, was why they were always going to win. Humans were inheritly chaotic creatures, beings of waste and the useless dead-ends of evolution. No matter what the force of mind, the force of will- a human was still a human. Except, of course, when he was also a DABO. he picked up the speaker-phone. "Members of the Inverse Unit. Members of the Inverse Unit. You are to report to BETA Level Training Facility 1-07 immediately, by order of Commander Hayashi Yukio. Members of the Inverse Unit, report to BETA Training Facility 1-07," he said calmly, then put down the phone. He sat up and looked at the folder. He picked it up, despite his mutinous trembling hands, and from his pocket, produced a lighter. - Leiko looked up from her book when she heard the announcement. "That time already?" she yawned to herself, putting down her copy of The Stranger, and stretching the morning kinks from her body. A couple workers, some possibly even BETA-level, gave her strange looks when they realized that the kid who had spent all night reading was a member of the shadowy Inverse Project. Leiko started walking for the stairs that went to BETA level, and only on the way did she realize Yukio had called them the Inverse Unit rather than the Inverse Project. Was it subtle encouragement, she wondered? Saying that he was sure that they would succeed? Or was it something else? Knowing Yukio -or at least thinking she did- it was probably both. The Warden
As the announcement blared over the speakers, Hiro was still asleep at the console. He had begun to drool about half an hour ago, and there was a translucent puddle of drool near his mouth. Thankfully none of it got into the system. Gizumon had awoken some time ago and was preparing breakfast. However after hearing the announcement, he shook Hiro a little, who didn't respond. He then jabbed his partner in the side, that got his attention. 'Why did you do that?' Hiro demanded, sleepiness slurring some of his words. 'We were called up for training in room one oh zero seven on this level. So, you'd better eat something before we go' Gizumon answered as he revealed a tray he obtained from the chute. It was the same tofu the others had eaten, Hiro gave it a look before grabbing some seasoning from the drawers. Sprinkling it heavily on the 'tofu', Hiro began to cut slices off, which he then cut into manageable sizes. Grabbing a pieces with his hands, he tossed it into his mouth, swallowing it whole. He repeated this with a few more pieces. 'This is a disgusting practise' Gizumon stated. Hiro shrugged as he swallowed another piece. 'Eh, better than feeling what's really inside this stuff' he replied in-between mouthfuls. The tofu was gone quick enough. Hiro got moving with Gizumon in his steed. Unlike the other EGLs, the scientists weren't nervous of a Gizumon wondering about, especially if someone was escorting it somewhere.
Hotaru987
Emiko was in her room putting on her shoes when she heard Yukio's voice over the speakers, calling the Inverse Unit - she though it was Inverse Project - to the training room. She glanced at her leash, which held Paomon inside, but she didn't release him. Not that it would matter since he was probably still asleep, which ment some quiet time for Emiko - it was a win-win as far as she was concerned. After taking a quick sweep of both her room and her person to make sure she wasn't missing anything, she left her room and headed for the assigned room. Today she was once again wearing a crisp, white button down shirt - all of the buttons, even the collar, was closed - with long sleeves and once-folded cuffs. There was a breast pocket on the right side, and as always her red ribbon was tied gently and securly around her neck. In her hair was dark red headband, that had patterns of black swirls. Her pants were simple, and black. There was nothing special about them, and around her waist was am equally plain black belt. Her shoes were white and black sneakers, and most of the top was covered by the pants leg - which without the shoes would probably swallow her feet compeltely. When she arrived, Emiko noted that she was the first one here. She was unsure on whether she should just enter or wait for the others to arrive. After thinking about it for a few minutes - in which she simply stared at the door - before simply walking inside.
Hydra of Ages
DARTS training rooms generally used by Gizumon pilots to test their operating ability, in a similar way to human fighter jet pilots. The usual sort of training a typical EGL would go through, however, was obviously rather different; because of that, there had been certain changes made to certain rooms in order to accommodate them. 1-07 had remained the typical training field. It resembled relatively small packed-earth field, with a high-vaulted dome roof above them and thick, sturdy walls that could resist all but a high-caliber explosion- it was simple to set up, and even simpler to use. 1-05 and 1-06 had allegedly undergone similar renovations as 7, but were either never completed or never considered necessary for use- their doors were always locked, and the lights turned off, though some people swore they heard sloshing water coming from 5. 1-08 may have been used for a similar purpose, long before the Inverse Project had even began- now, it was also sealed, ostensibly forever. Details on whatever made 8 unsuitable for combat practice were scarce, but then again, few people cared. Yukio stood towards the front of the field. He nodded at Emiko when she entered, not even a hint of emotion daring to cross his face, though a certain hardness may have entered his eyes when Leiko followed only a few seconds later. Leiko winced a bit- she could tell Yukio was mad at her for apparently stealing his folder, even if it was Yukio-style anger. She resisted the idea of mouthing an apology- it was likely that would just make it worse. "Tsubara Emiko. Sasaki Leiko. Release your EGLs from your leashes; until the remains of the unit return, you are to work on technique exercises; attempt to allow your EGL to unleash a named attack by channeling your demand through your Leash's link. You may find this difficult without a solid target; however, I implore you to learn to activate it on demand, regardless of situation," he said in his near-emotionless drawl. Leiko stilled the crawling of her skin, and held up her leash- it was oddly shaped, like a cylinder with most of the sides cut out from it. There was a bright flash of light and a release of data that quickly condensed into the form of a large worm-like creature, two bright yellow antenna on its head crossing into an 'X' pattern. "Kunamon," she said stiffly. Kunamon nodded her eyeless face. "Good morning, Leiko," it said pleasantly. Leiko faintly wished it wouldn't refer to her by her first name, but couldn't think of a suitable replacement. 'Master' would be a bit egotistical. 'Tamer' would just lead to all sorts of confusion...
The Warden
Hiro and Gizumon passed by some of the other training rooms, he disliked their dilapidated appearance, they could totally be used for something else. Albeit that they do give him the chills for some reason. He casually walked past 1-07 and observed 1-08. This was the worst of the rooms in his opinion, there was something not quite right beyond them; he had, 'heard' things from the other scientists. Not to dilly dally, Hiro strolled back to room 1-07 and entered. 'I trust I'm not late?' he inquired to Yukio. God does this guy give Hiro the creeps. Hotaru987
Emiko returned Yukio's detached nod with one of her own, before standing with her hands in front of her waiting for the orders he would undoubtedly give to her. It was only mear seconds later before Leiko entered the room, and Yukio divulged the orders to both of them. Leiko was quick to release her EGL, so Emiko figured she best get to work as well. She didn't know Yukio well - not at all actually - but even she had enough sense to not get on his bad side. She held out her arm - the one with her leash on her wrist - and seconds later a collenction of data came swimming out of the leash. Like before the data conglomerated until it formed a solid being - however the EGL that emerged from the leash was different than before. Instead of Paomon coming out, Tsunamon came out instead. Tsunamon was Child-level digivolution, while Paomon was the Baby-level. There wasn't many times when Emiko would have Paomon come out as Tsunamon, seeing as it took a lot more control and work on her mind, than it would simply having the EGL in it's basic digivolution. Tsunamon was about the size of a two wolf cubs, grey in color and two thin, whip like tails. On the top of his head, was a golden colored horn with a ring that hovered around the midsection of the horn. There were also two other golden rings, one each of the tails, along with blue circular markings along his body. "Man it's great to finally be out of that leash!" Tsunamon exlaimed stretching his forepaws, "That and to have legs again." Emiko closed her eyes almost as if exasperated by Tsunamon's behavior, before realizing that another tamer had joined them. It was the scientest that was whining after the meeting was over. She hopped that he wouldn't continue whining during the actual mission. But either way, her first priority was carring out the order assigned to her now, and that was training with Tsunamon. "Tsunamon, this is no time for playing. It's time to train." "Whatever you say Emiko, just be sure to get me some tacos when it's all over." Emiko once again didn't say anything to Tsunamon, closing her eyes once again. If anyone was to guess, they would figure she was embarressed, but she truthfully didn't feel much at the moment. Maybe a slight twinge of annoyance, but even she couldn't tell. Spartan919
Kai opened his eyes. He had faintly heard Yukio's voice as a buzz in his head, but had decided to try and dismiss it. It seemed, however, that his body did not agree with this philosophy, and refused to fall back into the bliss of sleep. Kai lay there for almost a half hour, trying to urge his body into sleep. Finally, he gave up, loosed a large yawn, and crawled out of his bed. He knew Yukio had said "immediately", but Kai was in no hurry. He took a quick shower, taking care to wash his hair thoroughly and clean his entire body. Then, he pulled out an outfit and threw it onto his bed. He stood staring at it for a moment: clean slacks, a rich violet shirt (button-up, long-sleeved), clean black socks, and a crisp black t-shirt. Starting, he dressed himself, then stuffed the Leash into his right breast pocket. Before he left his room, he pulled out the cross he wore around his neck, kissed it, and whispered, "Acta non verba," to himself. Moments later, Kai arrived in Training Facility 1-07. He was not surprised to see that both Leiko and Emiko were present, and both their EGL's had been released, and were training in technique, so it seemed. Yukio was watching. Kai walked up to him, and stood straight. "Kai here, Yukio."
GreyCat
Kazu was still yawning and breathing heavily when he reached the training room, a little behind Kai. He crammed the last piece of his peanut butter sandwich in his mouth and mumbled greetings to those present. He had something of a weakness for peanut butter and had a large jar of it in his room. He had slept through his first and second alarms and the third alarm was a bit late; he had to run through several corridors and down a few flights of stairs (he missed the elevator) to reach the time he did. Beside him, Leor matched his pace, though he was panting a bit from the sprints as well. He stretched in when Kazu finally stopped. Swallowing the last of his morning snack, Kazu beamed at Yukio. He liked this part of the base. It was generally quiet since few people came down there aside from the Inverse team and Gizumon operators. Well, not so much quiet as unfrequented. The occasional faint rumbling from the training room didn't bother him when he came to hide out. Choosing to abstain from assuming, he took the direct approach. "So, What's on the schedule for today?"
