The Lost Symbol is a masterstroke of storytelling that finds famed symbologist Robert Langdon in a deadly race through a real-world labyrinth of codes, secrets, and unseen truths all under the watchful eye of Brown's most terrifying villain to date. Set within the hidden chambers, tunnels, and temples of Washington, D.C., The Lost Symbol is an intelligent, lightning paced story with surprises at every turn. This is Dan Browns most exciting novel yet...
I could not put this book down I must say this was an excellent book... Dan Brown is one of my top three authors...

I think I read that book in... a little under a week or so... It is a good book and I hope the movie will be decent because they like to Nerf the movies all to hell with things that either didnt happen, or happen differently... But I liked the book. I think that it had one or two moments of I saw that coming... but there was tons of Epicness that made up for it!

Sad to say, some of his works do have inaccuracies, but I am one of those people who hate when they nerf a book to hell when they make the movie because some of the best scenes get taken out. Cases in point, Eragon, nothing like the book. Golden Compass, Nothing like the book. The 13TH Warrior, even though I LOVE the movie, nothing like the book. It goes on and on. But I did enjoy Angels and Demons alot more than what little bit of the book ive read. I just cannot wait for the new book to come out by him.

I think that the book kind of emasculated itself when the villain's evil plan...
was to f***ing kill himself.
Now the fact that the ULTIMATE SYMBOL OF DEATH didn't turn out to be anything (omgspoilers?) wasn't exactly a surprise, but that the secret to life, the universe, and everything is every religion ever? Really? You'd think the [s]EVIL[/s] INNER COUNCIL OF FREEMASONS would have better things to do besides very carefully NOT LOOK INSIDE A BIG STONE PYRAMID. Couldn't they have been, I don't know...curing cancer or something? I mean, imagine however many years ago a council of the greatest minds of the world gathered together...

"We have this totally awesome puzzle-box/pyramid thing. Now what do we put inside?"

"CANDY!!!!"

"Shut up, George Washington. I know, how about we put the secrets of the universe inside!"

"But we don't know the -"

"No one's actually going to open the damn pyramid. We'll just make something up, see? Then maybe some reasonably intelligent Harvard guy with a flare for melodrama will write a book about it!"

"You're a genius. No wonder you're our glorious leade - what's that sound?"

"Just the Anti-Masonic Party."

It's probably his best book so far, I finished reading it five weeks ago. I was actually literally shocked that Mal'Akh is the son of Peter Solomon, holy s***! That was a huge plot twister in the world of mystery/thriller books of all time! I hope Brown makes another book with Dr. Langdon in it again, if he does, you bet your ass I'm gonna go buy it, I think later on in this year, the movie is gonna come out. The movie is nothing compared to the actual book in my opinion.

My problem was, Before the end I knew that Malakh was Zachery Solomon. I knew it because of his memories of being in jail and after he got out. He says that he was "Someone with money who was in jail for carrying drugs." or something along those lines and that was what Zach was in jail for. He was trying to take drugs across a border and got caught. Later when he re-names himself Andros and lives in greece and is going through his "Bodily transformation" he states how he used to be skinny from all the drugs. Calls back to Solomon seeing photos of him partying in tabloids.

Then, when the night of the Solomon and Katherines mother died is remembered/brought up, they kept mentioning Zach's bridge and how no one but them and Zach knew about it and where it was. It kind of pointed toward the idea that no one would have found it save for him. So slowly I put it together, adding the clues of how only Zach knew some of the things his father knew I.E the pyramid existing, and so on.

So, before the end I was 99% sure it was him and there was a 1% doubt that it was someone else.

But, none the less, I enjoyed the myriad amounts of knowlege placed in the book along with the narative and the fact that even though you expect the end of the book to be happy with the bad guy in prison/dead and Langdon triumphing, there were those moments of "Holy crap Langdons dead, this evil guy has won, and the secrets are out!!!"

It was good and I cannot wait for the next one.

He's apparently going to do more than ten books with him in it.

I, personally, thought that The Lost Symbol was a great book with a brilliant storyline. However, I think how it was written could be greatly improved.

Apparently you'll need to re-read the book. The ultimate secret of the universe is that every religion ever is correct, as long as it acknowledges the divinity of humanity.

The lost symbol is that human is divine, plain and simple, God is in us. Ever since I read "The Lost Symbol", my belief system drastically changed.

No, I'll admit my own belief system changed in a similar way...for a brief time. Then I listened to some more enlightened people, and they changed again.
