Pokemon! High Seas Miracle! [IC Thread/Started/Not Accepting]

Trevor bit his lip. "C'mon, Glameow, get up..." He pleaded. Glameow seemed to twitch as she heard her master's voice, but then it died and Glameow lay still.

Trevor's shoulders slumped in disappointment. Turning to Melina, it was a surprise to see he had a weak smile on his face. "Good battle." he said, and without another word he strode over to pick up Glameow and take her to the nurse currently onboard.

Mabel didn't seem to notice the embarrassment Jesse had felt a second ago. "That Bulbasaur sure is strong." She said pleasantly. "I can see him getting along quite well with Tulip..." she mused for a second, then remembering Jesse was there, explained, saying, "Tulip is my Venusaur. She's one of the main players of my team...apparently the same goes here too." Mabel strode forward and smiled at Melina.

"Hello," she said. "My name is Mabel. That was quite a battle you just had- nice job, by the way."

"Munchlax!" Nathan barked. "Scrap the Tackle and use Lick!" Munchlax abruptly stopped just before colliding with Kit; he had just enough time to whip out his tongue before Kit collided with him. Both Pokemon staggered back; Munchlax had received quite a hit from the Quick Attack, Kit likewise with the Lick. Both Pokemon were moderately hurt, though Kip was back on his feet in a second, and Nathan presumed the same would apply to Kit.

"Alright, Roli, use....ahh..." Nathan moaned. Roli Poli was making strange, half-shy, half-amorous gestures towards Alice; it was clear the Charm was working.

"Kip! Get over there and hit him!" Nathan commanded. Kip nodded once and, walking briskly, slapped Roli Poli several times. Roli Poli seemed to snap out of it, and a second later, Nathan began shouting again. "Roli! Use Water Gun, again! But aim it at Kit; Kip, you hit Alice with a Tackle!" The idea of the Water Gun wasn't to hurt Kit too badly; no, it was simply to distract him while Kip took out Alice.

Alice hissed displeasure at Kip’s interruption just when she had Roli wrapped around her little finger. Kit was a bit startled by the lick and he spat as he wiped his face. Duke grinned as a plan occurred to him. The battle area was wet from the earlier water gun attack that Roli launched on Alice, and Kit [i]did[/i] have and electric move to use. All he need was the right circumstances. And between Roli and Alice, he was quite capable of setting those circumstances up. For part one… distract Kip.

“Alice, interrupt the tackle with a faint attack!” he yelled quickly. Alice didn’t hesitated. She whirled, kicking up some water and scattering it, knocking Kit into the water gun he had just avoided before striking Kip and he blinked at her attack on her teammate. Duke face-palmed. Alice was still holding on to the rivalry between her and Kit in the middle of battle! Kit tumbled back and got hit with water gun, but fortunately it wasn’t that effective on him. As he huddled beneath the pressure of the attack, Duke quickly considered his options.

Surprisingly, the unwonted actions of Alice worked in his favor, soaking the field some more. Now for part two… “Kit! Stay with the water gun! Use thunder wave right into it and the puddles on the ground!” Kit grimaced, not liking the feel of the attack, but complied. Currents of electric lanced through the stream of water back to its source: Roli. Arches also bounced across the ground, skipping along the water that scattered from Roli’s two attacks to hit all the pokemon in the battle. Duke thought it was some malice that lead a good portion of those arches to Alice, but her limber body ignored the paralyzing effects.

"Crap!" Nathan shouted. The thunder wave arched along the water and struck his Pokemon. Well, make that singular; Kip had been knocked out of range by the Faint Attack, leaving Roli to take the brunt of the blow. Having just finished his Water Gun, Roli was left defenseless and a arch of lightning shot up and hit him, paralyzing the Pokemon. "Kip!" Nathan said desperately. "Protect Roli; hit Alice with a Lick!" Due to the Faint Attack, Alice had landed close to Kip, and the Munchlax spared no time in extending his tongue at the cat.

"Roli, try to shake it off!" Nathan said hurriedly, then he turned back to see if the Lick would hit Alice.

Alice gracefully led Kip in a futile dance. His tongue just didn't have the reach or a lickitung, or even of a haunter. She had not trouble avoiding Kip's efforts, and seemed to be having fun at his sake. Duke sighed. He would have to figure out a way to work around her attitude later. For now, he had to focus on winning. "Alice, splash him with sand attack!" he called out. "Kit, hit Roli with another thunderwave if he looks like he's coming out of it. For now, quick attack!" Kit nodded and charged the thunderwave, but rushed a the poliwag. He didn't get far.

Alice kicked up a splash of water that hit not only kip, but also Kit. She preened and chuckled. Duke really need a mediator between them. Kit hissed and the store thunderwave pulsed out, turning the white glow of the quick attack it a blue aura. Duke recognized it. Spark. Kit cried out angrily and rammed both Roli and Alice, discharging the force into both of them. Duke face palmed a bit harder than necessary and he felt the blood rush to his head. Those two cats really had it coming after this battle. "Kit! I said Roli! Not Alice!"

The Spark hit Roli Poli straight in the chest, and he fell back with a thud, fainted straight away. However, Alice had been hit too; though the Spark had indeed hit her, it was Kip's tongue that also, seemingly, dealt a blow; while Alice was recovering from the Spark, Kip, who had dodged the Sand Attack, used the chance to get in close and strike at her with the Lick. Between both attacks, hopefully the Purrloin would faint.

"Alright! Kip, go for Kit and use Metronome!" Nathan, one Pokemon defeated, was ready to risk it all. Kip's ears perked up at the sound of his favorite attack and immediately began the dance. It would take a moment, but hopefully Kip would be able to complete the attack...

Austin let his Pokemon out. Onix, Eevee, and Pichu were standing before Austin. "Ok guys." Austin started. "We're are starting our adventure right now. It will be long and dangerous. But we have friends and their Pokemon to help us. Plus Vileplume and Ivy." Austin said. "Are you guys ready?" Austin asked them. "RAA!" "Eevee!" "Picha!" They all said with a smile. Austin smiled back. "Now to find a battle." Austin said. He returned his Pokemon. He stood up. "Who wants to battle?"

Ace nodded; a battle would be a good way to test how his Eevee had been training, and he'd be able to see what Jet knew. "A battle would be perfect; but don't expect it to be the easiest thing ever. After all," he said with a sudden bounce, "I'm not called 'Ace' for nothing, you know, Daniel." He reached into his pants, and pulled out his two PokeBalls. One contained Volpecula, the energetic yet confident Eevee he had known for years, and the other contained Jet, the Buizel who had put up one heck of a fight, and whose strength he was sure would be helpful. He tossed them in the air, then snatched them. "Let's do this," he said with a smile.

Daniel grinned as he pulled out a Pokeball and threw it out, revealing his new Surskit. She stumbled and fell down, apparently not used to being on a boat, but got her balance back. Chu hopped down from Daniel's hair and stood in front of him. However, the way the Pokemon were positioned was rather strange. The Surskit, Bubbles, was several feet in front of Chu, who was right in front of Daniel, as opposed to the battling Pokemon being only a few feet away from the trainer. [color=#00FFFF]"How about we battle by my rules? 2-on-2 rotational battle. It's how we play back home in Unova."[/color]

"...." Melina didn't know how to react. Trevor sure was disappointed. Then-

"Bulba! Bulba!" Her Bulbasaur was leaping and celebrating; a smile formed on Melina's lips, and a sudden name for him popped into her mind. She got off Guardon, who was looking very delighted, and picked up the Grass Pokemon.

"We did it!" she said sanguinely. "I know what to call you now - Jordan. From now on, you're Jordan." Bulbasaur's smile widened, and he snuggly settled into her arms. There was no doubt that he was comfortable with being called Jordan.

[Magnet Soldier]

Squirtle coughed as it was enveloped in the Smog, trying as hard as he could to stay standing. It was now extremely weak, just like the Torkoal, and if the Fire Spin made contact with Squirtle right now it would be over. But, before Kori could say anothing, Squirtle retracted into his shell, pulling out a light blue berry. "An Oran berry? He's had that all this time? Well, it's now or never. Eat that Squirtle, and use rapid spin." Squirtle nodded and threw the berry into the air, swallowing it in a single gulp. Then it retracted into his shell again, and started spinning rapidly. As the Torkoal and Squirtle collided, both at the same speed and similar power, the smog enveloped the crowd and grew dense, making it impossible to see the winner until it had passed.

Ace had never heard the Unova rules about rotation-battles before. Curious as to what that might be, he figured he might as well give it a try. [i]It's not exactly like it's going to make any of my battles easier or harder.[/i] Feeling a sudden wave of confidence, Ace released Volpecula and Jet from their Pokeballs. Jet looked around curiously, before turning his gaze on his trainer. Volpecula bounced up and down, eyeing Daniel, eager to battle. "Sure. Let's do this 'rotation' battle," he said, "as long as you can explain what the rules are. It wouldn't exactly be fair if I didn't know what I was doing."

Daniel explained. [color=#00FFFF]"Rotation battles are similar to tag-team wrestling. You have a Pokemon that will actually battle, while another Pokemon is on standby, though there are normally two Pokemon on standby and one battling, but since you have less Pokemon than I do, we will go for one each. Whenever you want to, you may call for a time-out, then switch your Pokemon's positions. However, you can only exchange the Pokemon on standby for any Pokemon you have in your Pokeballs. This makes it more challenging by having the Trainer manage the condition of the Pokemon on standby while commanding the Pokemon who is currently fighting. Also, whenever the Pokemon battling is knocked out, only the Pokemon on standby can come in to take its place."[/color]

As the smog finally began to dissipate, leaving one or two of the passengers coughing, it became apparent one Pokemon was lying down and the other was starting to walk around. It would take another second or so for it to become apparent who had won; Squirtle, tired and worn, but nevertheless looking and happy.

The older trainer took a deep breath and then smiled at Kori. "Well played, my friend. You deserve to go on with the tournament. I think there are about four others waiting to be challenged; after you beat one of them you'll go to the final round, and hopefully you'll win that and get the grand prize!" The man gave a thumbs-up. "Good luck." He tenderly walked over to Torkoal and recalled him to his Poke Ball. And then, he walked off, leaving Kori to wonder what he would do.

"Well, he sure was anxious to leave." Mabel observed, also watching Trevor walk off. "Well, that was quite a match! Jordan, huh? Nice name." she said brightly. "There are four others you can battle; but do you think about that do you think I could talk to you about something I need done? There might be a reward involved..." Mabel said, leaving the tantalizing offer hanging in the air.

Alice, shaking off the effects of the spark, leapt to her feet and hissed angrily at Kit. Kit leered back at her and growled softly. "Alice, Kit! Focus!" Duke called out exasperatedly from the sidelines. "Focus on your enemies. Your [i]enemies![/i] Not each other," he urged. Ignoring him, Alice and Kit got into a squabble, batting at each other with their paws. It took all of Duke's will power not to knock them over their heads. "Enough!" he barked, his fear over what Kip's metronome would bring out overpowering his normally gentler relation to the pokemon. Alice and Kit both cringed and turned their attentions back to Kip, though a bit grudgingly. "Kit! See if you can hit him with a quick attack before he can finish! Alice, back him up with faint attack!" Kit dashed off and Alice trailed him, intending to use the quick attack as the feint in her own move, but it was too late, Kip's dance was finished.

Ace nodded. Those rules seemed fair enough, even if he didn't understand them one hundred per cent, or have the number of Pokemon to match Daniel. But it didn't matter. Numbers aren't everything. He looked down at his two Pokemon, one an old friend he had known for years, the other a proud fighter he had just met. Both of them had now turned their eyes to Daniel. They were ready; Ace could almost feel the energy seeping from Volpecula and Jet. He laughed, joyed by their intensity. He nodded to Daniel, and smiled. "I'm as ready as I'll be," he said. "Let's get this battle on! I'll start with Volpie!" Volpecula leapt forward, her ears quivering in concentration.

[Master Red]

"Hey, that was some great battling there Melina, congratulations!" Jesse said as he came over to his travelling companion, cheering with her bulbasaur, that now was named Jordan. He smiled and put down the egg by his feet, that thing was quite heavy and it would be tiresome to carry it around in the future, hopefully it would hatch sooner than later. As he placed the egg on the floor he started to dig around in the pockets of his cardigan to find Fernando's pokéball and then calling the creamoo out again.

Fernando seemed happy to be out and about again and ran around for a short while, of course he could also be happy that there wasn't as many battles going on and was enjoying that he could run around more as he pleased without having to fear being challenged to a battle. After a short while of running about a little he came skipping back to Jesse and perched in front oif the egg, looking at it curiously.

"hehe, yo're wondering what'll come out from there too?" Jesse asked, kneeling down and bringing the egg up between him and Fernando.

He overheard Mabel telling them she was needing help so he quickly got up again, causing Fernando to topple over. "Well, if you tell us what you need help with maybe we can help" Jesse said, smiling before looking down to find a very puzzled creamoo on the floor beside him.

[Naimo]

Melina smiled, and then percieved Mabel. She had been vaguely aware of her during their battle, but now that it was over, she proceeded to hold out her hand and smiled cheerfully at her.

"Hello," she said warmly. "I'm Melina Swift." She paused. "So, I heard you said there was something to do? Is it alright of me to join in? I'm sure Jordan needs some rest now, so getting involved in another battle wouldn't [i]really[/i], you know, be appropriate for him."

Kip's dance had indeed finished; the tips of his fingers had stopped glowing, and he was looking expectantly into the air, waiting for something to happen. As it turns out, Kip was looking in the wrong direction. For, even as Alice and Kit rushed forward, there came a great booming noise, and suddenly the boat began to shake. The Meowth leapt up in fright and a few people cried out as they feel to their knees. After a second, the move became apparent...it was a Earthquake.

Boom! Boom! Suddenly, all the tremors seemed seemed to focus in on Alice and Kit; with a sudden explosion of kinetic energy, the tremors raged into the spots, becoming so volatile the two Pokemon were thrown into the air. They landed hard on the deck, and a second later the tremor flipped them over again, before it finally subsided. They landed on their backs, where they could be fully seen; even as the shaking died away, it became apparent the two had been defeated.

Nathan's looked in shock. Had he just...won? The other boat members were likewise incapacitated; but they recovered quickly, and getting up to stand on unsteady feet, they began to cheer at the amazing battle they had just seen.

Finally recovering, Nathan strode forward to shake hands with Duke, recalling Kip as he did so. "Nice match, my friend. Maybe you could get those two to not as fight as much, though." Nathan smiled to show he meant no harm with this comment. Then he gestured to the left, where they had left Ace and Daniel. "I thought I heard Ace and Daniel talk about also battling; you wanna go find them and watch?"

"Oh, it doesn't have to do with battling." Mabel assured the pair. "Actually, I need you to deliver something. To the Gym Leader in Pummelo- Brian, leader of the Speed Gym. He's a cool dude- I hear he DJs in his free time. Anyway, I took this boat in order to get to him, thinking it would be more relaxing than flying there. But, unfortunately, due to this weather," Mabel gestured around. "I don't think we'll make it in time- because, you see, I need to be somewhere in a couple of hours. Even if I flew there and back, I'm not sure if I would make it back in time. So, since I have to leave, do you think you could deliver this letter," -Mabel ruffled through her messenger bag, finally coming up with a plain white envelope- "To him, for me?"

[Magnet Soldier]

Kori was confused for a second, as he had been sure Squirtle was no match for the Torkoal, but this caused him to congratulate Squirtle even more. That is, until Squirtle fell, face first, to the ground. Kori rushed up to him, but Squirtle was snoring, so he must have just been very tired. "Well done Squirtle. You deserve a rest." Kori said, smiling, as he returned Squirtle to his pokéball. Deino scoffed, and turned back to licking her feet, but followed Kori as he walked towards Melina and Jesse, along with another person he didn't know. "Hey, I won! What about you Melina?" Kori said, much more cheerfully than normal.

[Naimo]

"Of course," said Melina sanguinely. She got off Guardon and firmly took the letter. "So, it's to Brian at the Speed Gym..." She was then interrupted by Kori, and turned to him. "I won too, and my Bulbasaur is now called Jordan." For some reason, the names Benny and Lee came up in her mind. If she were to capture two more Pokemon ... for some reason, she felt rather warm with this thought, and her mind drifted to goodness knows where.

"Great!" Mabel exclaimed cheerfully, doing a impromptu twirl in happiness. "Thanks a lot- you guys seem trustworthy, it seems like you'll get the job done. Oh yes- the prize. Well, for doing this for me, why don't I give you..." The next words Mabel uttered were lost as Kori approached, as she bit them off hastily to greet the new arrival.

"Hello, there." she began. "My name is Mabel- I was just making an offer to your friends here. As I was saying," Mabel took a step back to talk to all three people at once. "For doing this for me...here." Taking something out of her messenger bag, Mabel handed each of the three something; as she placed them in Jesse, Melina, and Kori's palms, they were revealed to be keys.

"There!" Mabel said. "As you may or may not know, to the south of Pummelo Island is a deserted island known alternatively as Rind or Millsweet Island. In the far southwest corner of the island, there exists an abandoned castle; it is kept locked up by someone or something, and these keys will grant you passage into it. A legendary Pokemon is rumored to exist there! After coming across these keys in a Coordinator match, I went to the castle myself. While I didn't encounter any legendaries, I found that some truly remarkable Shiny and/or rare Pokemon reside there. After beating Pummelo Gym, maybe you could go there and catch some of them!"

Yep. It was too late. The earthquake knocked all the fight from Alice and Kit. Duke sighed and shook his head. Double battles were not the best thing when those two were involved. Disoriented, the staggered to their feet and looked around blankly. Then they started growling at each other. So the earthquake hadn't knocked all the fight from them after all. Duke ground and teeth and stalked over to them. Kit's growl choked off into a gurgle when he noticed Duke looming over Alice. Quick as a diving spearow, he snatched them both by the scruff of their necks and held them up, glowering at them.

"Good match Nathan," Duke commented him carefully. Now that the match was over, his seasickness was coming back. If he just avoided looking at the horizon... "Normally, I'm all for care and kindness in raising pokemon," he commented, "but if these two refuse to get along, I'll have to resort to some... [i][font="Franklin Gothic Medium"]tough love.[/font][/i]" Alice and Kit swallowed nervously and held paws, smiling sweetly. "So while they learn to get along, we can go watch Daniel and Ace go at it." He dropped them unceremoniously at his feet. Kit narrowed his eyes and hissed while Alice pushed his head away with a paw. When Duke glared at them, they were back to hugs and sweet looks.

Jesse looked at the key in his hand and then stuffed it into his messenger bag. "Wow, thanks Mable" He said, smiling, "And don't you worry, we'll get him that letter."

When Kori approached fortelling them about his greatness in battle he of course congratulated him on his win as well. "Hey, maybe you two will even manage to beat the gym leader, you both seem to be good trainers" Jesse chimed afterwards, looking from Melina and then to Kori. "I didn't see your battle Kori so I don't know how it went down, but I must say I'm really impressed with you Melina." He continued, turning to Melina again. "I mean, you've only just caught Jordan and you still did a wonderful job with him." he explained, while shifting the egg in his arms again. It was quite heavy to carry, he'd have to find some way of handling this more smoothly.

Mabel looked jubilant. "Thanks, you guys!" She squealed. Then, with a weird expression rapidly appearing on her face, she looked down at a watch on her left hand. "Oh crap." said Mabel. "I gotta get going, and [i]pronto[/i]." She turned and started to quickly walk away, grabbing something- a Poke Ball, as it was revealed to be- from the bag. Then, next to the doorway, she looked back and said, "I have a feeling this won't be the last time we see each other. See ya!" Then, Mabel opened the door and quickly walked out into rain. There was a flash of light and some large Pokemon appeared- it was too dark due to the rainstorm to tell what it was- and Mabel mounted it. At this point, the doors rocked close, obscuring what the woman was doing, but opening the door again would that Mabel had disappeared.

"Alright, Trainers!" Suddenly came a booming voice. A large man wearing the regalia of the ship's crew and wielding a microphone had appeared. "We have reached the semifinals round! There are only four people left. And for this match, we're going to shake it up- this is going to be a two-on-two match! So, contenders, find a partner, and report to the center of the cabin!"

Nathan laughed as Duke said that, though he had a sinking feeling that Duke wasn't kidding. "I think they're over here," Nathan said, still chuckling. Then he paused, and said, "Wait, both are Pokemon are injured. Do you want to find the ship's Nurse before we go see their match." Nathan turned to see what Duke's reaction would be.

[Pichu]

"Time for training!" Austin said. He threw out Shiny Eevee and Pichu. "Now I want you guys to battle. Train. Give it all you got!" Austin said. "Eve!" "Pi!" The Pokemon said. They started battling. Pichu started with Charge. Eevee used Iron Tail and Pichu flew back. Pichu released a Volt Tackle at Eevee. Eevee got up slowly. "Eve!" "Good job guys!" Austin yelled. "Let's make this a triple battle!" Austin said letting Onix out. Onix smacked his tail against Pichu. "Nice Iron Tail!" Pichu used Encore on Onix. Onix was locked to Iron Tail. Eevee jumped onto Pichu with a Tackle. The Pokemon soon started to tear up the deck. Austin returned his Pokemon and saw something glowing in the water. He took a net and pulled it out. It was a ThunderStone. "Cool." Austin stuffed the stone into his backpack along with his Pokeballs. Off in the distance was Kumquat. "Hey guys! I can see it!"
