"Argh. What a pain." Kori gagged as the Large turtle spurted a large cloud of smoke out of it's mouth. "Squirtle? You still there?" He asked, getting a quiet but comforting Reponse of "Squirt-Squirt!!" Kori smiled, noticing the Ember just as it Happened. "Squirtle! Look out." But it was too late to dodge, the Small Balls of Fire were already aimed at Squirtle and coming in fast. "Squirtle, Withdraw!" Kori ordered, Squirtle Quickly Obeying. Just in time, too, as an Ember Collided with the Squirtle's Shell almost Instantaneously, and slightly injuring Squirtle, but thanks to withdraw Squirtle was Relatively unharmed. "Rapid Spin Squirtle, then Water Gun!" Kori Shouted, as Squirtle started spinning rapidly towards The Torkoal, while preparing a Water Gun for when he emerged from his shell.

Magnet, what's with the random capitalizations? I notice them happening in your posts a lot.

Also, Pichu, please explain your actions on the OoC post. First, Onix, then the boat...what gives?
"Nice one!" The other Trainer praised. "You're getting rid of my SmokeScreen too..." And indeed Squirtle was. Whether intended or not, the Rapid Spin Squirtle was using was doing a good job of dispersing the smoke; a several feet away, the bulky outline of Torkoal became visible through the smog. Squirtle, guided by this, hit the turtle right in the jaw.

"Aahh...hah!" The Trainer's cry turned into a laugh as Torkoal quickly got back to his feet, faster than you could have guessed the large Pokemon could have done. Squirtle's Rapid Spin had ended, depositing the Pokemon several feet away from Torkoal, due to him bouncing off Torkoal. "Quick, before he can use Water Gun! Fire Spin!" The Trainer shouted, and Torkoal replied with a bellow, which was followed by Torkoal doing a movement quite similar to what Squirtle had done several minutes ago; he pulled his limbs into his shell and launched himself with speed at Squirtle, but for this move fire was leaking out of his shell...which seemed ominous.

"What do you mean- aah!" Nathan cried, which was a natural reaction to being pulled by a large and angry 20-year-old. Being grabbed and dragged out of Ivy's lab- the Professor in question was watching with her mouth askew- and down to the harbor was a not a particularly delightful reaction, but Nathan stayed the feeling because he too wanted to make the boat before it left. Instead, he forced Daniel's hand off his shirt and started applying speed, keeping pace with the other Trainers as they worked their way down to the ship.

There! Halfway down the pier was their destination- the S.S. Andrea. The ship was already starting up- smoke was pulling out of it's smokestack already- and a boy in a uniform was starting to pull the gangplank away. "No!" Nathan shouted, and the boy looked up in surprise. "Don't leave yet! Roli Poli," -Roli Poli and Kip were running alongside Kit and Alice- "delay that boat!"

"Roli!" The Poliwag cried, and he launched a Water Gun. It hit the boy, who fell back with a cry and dropped the gangplank; Nathan, with Daniel (still pulling Ace) beside him, leapt onto it and then to the boat.

"Yes! We made it...Oh my god!" Nathan cried out once again; Duke, who had decided to get on the boat another way, had avoided the gangplank alltogether and had instead scaled the railing, landing next to the other three in a rather shocking maneuver. "Wow. Well, that was...fun." Nathan mumbled. "I can't believe we almost missed-"

"You guys do realize you have to pay for tickets?" The boy suddenly appeared next to them, looking oddly nervous. Maybe it was he had just been attacked or his boat had just been boarded- one of the two.

Daniel wheezed as he spread out on the deck of the ferry, relieved. Chu curled up on his chest and rest with him, bobbing up and down as he tried to regain his breath. "Man, I am seriously out of shape! I need to work out more!" He then noticed the attendant, and sat up, Chu quickly skittering up into his hair. He reached into his pockets to find some money, only to find nothing. He then sighed and pulled out a checkbook, wondering how much he would have to pay for the tickets and the little incident that had just occurred.

"Wasn't watching a bunch of people get on a sailing boat enough of a show to pay for our tickets?" Duke asked innocently as he fixed tried to rub the boat scum from the front of his shirt. Maybe climbing the railing wasn't the best of ideas, but it was fun. Then he groaned and squatted against the railing as his seasickness came up again. Alice scrambled up his pant leg and coat to slump into her new favorite spot as he did, purring happily. He blinked in surprise as Daniel pulled out a check book. Apparently the internet payed well. But he was twenty. He had to have money somewhere.
In my Ja Diamond Version, the Onix are weak at the beginning. So I caught one here.

I wanted us to leave so we can progress further in the RP
Austin got up and saw Nathan and the others. "Wait up!" He yelled at the group. He dashed to the boat which was already leaving. Austin reached the pier and made a giant leap. He made it, barely. He hung on the side of the ship. He pulled his self up and onto the deck next to Nathan's feet. Austin was breathing heavily. "H-H-How much..... is the t-t-ticket?" he asked. He went into the fetal position and rocked back and forth.

"Don't worry, I got it." Nathan said, and he reached a hand out, stopping the others from extracting their wallets- or checkbooks, in Daniel's case. "Here..." Nathan reached into his bag, and after shuffling it around for a couple of minutes, extracted a gold-colored flap of paper. "I think this will cover it," he said, handing it to the boy. The boy mutely examined it for a couple of minutes, then handed it back to him and said, "Welcome to the S.S. Andrea, enjoy your stay." Without another word, the boy grabbed the gangplank and tottered into the recesses of the ship.

Nathan turned to the others and smiled. "Gold S.S. Ticket." He explained, "It allows free passage on all ships under the "S.S.A" brand for a year- good thing that our ship was one of them, huh? My family moves around a lot, so my dad bought a lot of these Tickets, and he gave me one to use when I came here."
1. So? Tackle is still not effective on them- and also, we were in Ivy's lab too, so how would that happen.

2. Just because you wanted something doesn't mean you should do something like that. Next time, just say on the OoC Thread you want to get moving- keeping things progressing is once again, my job. You guys are just here to have fun. :)
Ace had stumbled after being launched into the air to land on a ferry. Now he lay sprawled on the deck, his partner Pokemon lying similarly next to him. Ace was in no way exhausted, though the run was difficult, but it had mostly been the work of Daniel that got them onto the ship. He stood, and turned to face Nathan. "Thanks for flashing that Gold ticket to that guy. Otherwise we'd have been as stuck as a Magikarp on land." He let out a chuckle, its tone betraying just how frayed the ordeal had actually left him. "Volpie, return," he said, pointing his Pokeball at her. Against her protests, she was sucked into the ball by a glowing red light. "So, now what?" he asked both Daniel and Nathan.

Austin stood up by Nathan. "T-Thanks man. Kumquat is far." Austin said. "There's a Pokemon Center here on the S.S. Andrea. I want to heal my Pokemon then book a room so I can sleep." Austin said. He walked away to find the Center. He found it and healed his Pokemon. He turned around to see a Riolu wearing bows standing next to a girl bending down to tie her shoe. Austin gasped and ran out of the center. He ran to the others. "G-G-Guys! We need to move quickly. Like now."

Nathan turned away from Austin and looked at the other Trainers. "Kumquat isn't actually that far away from Hamlin Island," Nathan said knowledgeably. "We should be there by sundown. But before we do that..." Nathan turned to Duke. "I've been itching for a Pokemon battle for a while now. Since we have the same number of Pokemon, do you think you could help me out here, Duke?" Nathan grinned. "I'm sure we could battle on the main deck or something, if not indoors."

Kit looked at Duke, loosing the happy-go-lucky look he normally had in favour of his serious game face. Duke grinned and stood, his sea sickness a minor matter for the moment. In fact, it seemed to be fading away as he moved. "No better treatment for seasickness that a good battle," Duke insisted. Nathan seemed like a good trainer, and Duke remembered quite well that Nathan was a major player in driving back the Scolipede the day before. Not only htat, but his pokemon looked him. As a potential/training breeder, that counted for even more in Duke's eyes. Alice slipped off his shoulders and landed lightly on the deck. Boats were made to withstand storms, something like a little battle wouldn't break it. "Kit and Alice versus your Roli and Kip, right? Single battle or doubles? Just so you know, I'm good either way."

Ace saw that Duke and Nathan were getting riled up for a Pokemon battle, and was again reminded that he still had only one Pokemon. Sighing, he ambled over to the side rail of the ship. Leaning up against it, he peered out at the water, and was almost entranced by the sunlight glittering on it. As he continued to watch, his attention was caught by something in the water. Squinting his eyes shut, he was still only able to make out a long, sleek shape and a bright orange body. Trusting his instincts, which told him it was a wild Pokemon, he pulled out his Pokeball. "Go, Volpecula!" A bright red beam shot out, loosing his Eevee into the water. She squeaked in protest, before beginning to swim towards the shape. Remembering he now had a PokeDex, Ace pulled it out. He pointed it towards the shape, and his PokeDex revealed it to be a Buizel, quite wild. He pumped his fist in excitement, and shouted out "Finally!"

Nathan thought for a second, than said. "Let's mix it up and make it a double battle. C'mon, this is just the side of the ship; let's move up front and onto the main deck where we will have more room. Nathan began edging sideways across the bright white railing when he bumped into Ace; looking surprised, he turned and saw the young Trainer looking over the railing and into the water, where the form of Volpecula was visible; a little while away there was another shape; this one was orange and sleek, and Nathan had never seen it before. Before he could inquire to what it was, Nathan heard a voice, seemingly coming from Ace's Pokedex, say that is was Buizel, a Pokemon native to the Sinnoh region.

"Oh," Nathan said. "Catching a Pokemon, huh? Nice."

"Erm - let's - hey!"

Bulbasaur seemed to have a mind of his own; instead of waiting for a command, he used Vine Whip all his own. The vines had the advantage of distance, and smacked Glameow across the chest; the cat Pokemon rolled back swiftly onto her feet, and Bulbasaur was looking murderous. Guardon growled, though it was directed more at Bulbasaur's fierce independence; Melina made a note to be faster with her commands next time.

"Glameow, Scatch!" Again, the cat Pokemon bared her claws as she pounced. This time, Melina was faster on her feet, and without any hesitation -

"Bulbasaur, use Leech Seed!"

The attacks collided; the seed was released, but with it came the cost of injury. The claws scratched Bulbasaur on the chin, and as he stumbled backwards, Melina watched with relief as the seed lodged itself between Glameow's ears. The vines were quick to be deployed, and they wrapped her entire head, yet struggled to reach beyond her neck. Melina suspected it was the size of the seeds - they were looking worryingly small, from her perspective.

"Leave the Water Gun! Jump upwards instead!" Kori shouted, causing Squirtle to look at him questioningly for a moment before realising what he was planning. "Water gun now, on Torkoal's back!" Kori exclaimed, grinning confidently. Squirtle was also quite confident, until the Water gun attack missed. It kind of went towards Torkoal, then veered off towards the Turtle creature's right. "Damn." Kori muttered, trying to think of another move to make. Bite and Rapid Spin would hurt Squirtle more than Torkoal thanks to the Fire Spin attack. Withdraw would do nothing in this situation, and Water gun was unadvisable, as moves get weaker if used twice in a row. However, it seemed like the only choice. "Squirtle, Water Gun again!" He ordered, getting a nod of acknowledgement from squirtle before a stream of water erupted from Squirtle's mouth, already obviously weaker.

"Volpie, use Tackle!" Ace knew that his Pokemon was at a disadvantage due to the fact that she was in the water, but he knew she could do it. He watched as his Eevee swam towards the Buizel and slammed her body into the sleek fur. The Buizel retaliated with an Aqua Jet. Ace cried out, "Dodge it!" but wasn't fast enough; the Buizel rocketed into Volpecula, shooting her backward. "Use Quick Attack!" Volpecula swam at incredible speed, and slammed into the Buizel again. The battle continued, both Pokemon taking a beating, until finally, Ace lobbed a PokeBall into the water. It bounced off the Buizel, then opened and sucked it in. "Come on...come on..." Ace muttered to himself as he watched the ball....Caught! Ace pumped his fist. "Bring me the Pokeball, Volpie!" he shouted out. Volpecula, beaten but tired, gripped the red and white ball in her mouth and began swimming back to the boat. Now...what do I call you, Buizel?

Jesse watched the battle with interest, he didn't know how skilled of a trainer Melina was and he wouldn't know about her opponent either. He was routing for Melina of course as he knew her since earlier and they would be travelling together but he hoped that the other trainer would be a fierce opponent for her so he'd be given a good show. He hadn't really battled on his own as Fernando didn't like battles and he accepted that, but if whatever hatched from the egg that Ivy had given him was interested in battling he would be eager to give it a try.

He looked down at the egg in his lap. "I hope you'll hatch soon because it will be tiresome to carry you around all the time" he thought as he ran a hand over the warm shell of the egg. The egg was moving every now and then so that was good news, at least that meant whatever was inside of it was alive.

"Alright, this spot should be good." Nathan grinned, turning slightly to admire the boat.

The deck of the ship was a nice spacious area, covered with gold wood and dominated in the middle by a oval-shaped pool, in which many people and Pokemon were frolicking. The sun was shining down- though rainclouds hovered west, around Pummelo Island, and as such many people had decided to spent the major portion of the journey on the ooutside deck. Several lounge chairs, made of the same wood as the boat but covered with red towels, surrounded the pool; most were covered by relaxing humans and the odd Pokemon (usually a Meowth) as well. To the back of the deck was the entrance into the indoor portion of the ship; to the front was the stern, were the deck's low whitewashed gently tapered into a point. Between the pool and this point, however, there was a wide open area, devoid of life, and it was this spot Nathan had chosen for his Pokemon battle.

"Alright, I've asked the lifeguard over there, and he said we could use this spot for our battle." Nathan pointed to a lifeguard watching over the swimmers along with a Machop, and as if on cue, the lifeguard gave Nathan and Duke a thumbs-up. Nathan, still grinning, pulled out his two Poke Balls and pointed them towards the ground; a second later, the familar forms of Kip and Roli Poli appeared. "You ready for this, Duke?" Nathan asked.

***

"Ouch!" Trevor said, grimacing as Glameow was both hit with Vine Whip and later a Leech Seed. "Well, they're not much we can do about the Seed, Glameow- try to shake it off if you can, but if you can't forget about it- so, let's use Hypnosis, Glameow!" The cat Pokemon left off struggling with the vines reaching for her neck and instead fixed her gaze on Bulbasaur. There was a sudden moment of silence, and the Pokemon's eyes almost seemed to exude waves that made everyone around feel drowsy, though the main portion of the attack was focused on Bulbasaur. Now, it just remained to be seen if Bulbasaur would give in to the hypnotic waves and fall asleep.
If you're wondering, Glameow knows the first four moves a Glameow learns; Fake Out, Scratch, Growl, and Hypnosis.
"Torkoal, avoid the Water Gun and go for Squirtle, on the double!" The older Trainer commanded. Torkoal tried to avoid the weak, yet deadly, beam of water but his bulk was a detriment here; Torkoal was unable to get out of the way in time and the Water Gun glanced off his shell, sending him back a foot and leaving a steaming patch on him. The older Trainer knew that both Squirtle and Torkoal were getting tired, so he decided to wrap it up in one desperate move. "Torkoal, continue using Fire Spin, and use Smog at the same time!" A poisonous green gas exuded for Torkoal's pores and shot straight for Squirtle, while Torkoal himself set up for another Fire Spin towards the turtle. Hoepfully, the combined smoke and direct hit (if it happened that way) would be enough to make Squirtle faint, but since both attacks were weak due to the fact they had been issued at the same time, and there was a chance Squirtle might dodge both attacks, their was also a chance it would be Torkoal that would be defeated.

Duke was ready before Nathan was, both his pokemon already out and about. The area was perfect for a battle. It had enough space for all the pokemon to move around freely, while still being out of the way of the other passengers. And a bonus, the deck was slightly wet, which meant electric attacks would spread better. He sighed. Too bad Kit didn't know any yet. As Duke set himself across from Nathan, leaving enough space between them, his two little cats showed their readiness in their own way. Kit hissed defiantly at the two pokemon under Nathan's command, glaring at them with all the fierceness he could muster. Alice looked at them with an indifference that would put any queen to shame, then proceeded to lick her paw clean, apparently not considering the the opponents worth her time. Duke chuckled and sighed; all in one mixed breath.

"These two are ready as they will ever be Nathan," he said to his rival. Thoughts about the battle rushed through his head. Roli would prove to be less trouble than Kip, so the start of the battle should focus on weakening the Munchlax and targeting the poliwag from the start, then switch priorities. Kit would intimade them from the start and lower attacking power, so he would only need to have Alice follow up on that. He nodded to himself gestured for Nathan to take the first move. "Bring in on Nathan!"

"Oh shoot not hypnosis" Jesse thought, quickling turning away slightly from the battle so he wouldn't get too affected by the move himself. As he turned away he noticed a girl, also seeming to watch the battle. He had never been good at estimating ages of people but he would guess that she was somewhere between sixteen and twenty years old, depending on if she looked a bit younger or older than she really was. Her brilliantly red hair was styled in a weird but somehow beautiful hair cut, it was quite short on the right side, being cut right below the top of her ear to then slowly grow longer around the back of her head the other side where it reached her shoulder. On anyone else that haircut might just have looked silly, but she wore it with such confidence that she couldn't help to do anything else but to pull the style off brilliantly. She was of average height, around 168cm and a bit on the slim side. Not overly so though, just enough to pass as having a slim figure instead of an average one. She was wearing quite simple clothes, a pair of white leggings covered by a blue skirt along with a black tank top. She seemed to have been wearing a jacket earlier though as he could see the white sleeve of a jacket stick up from the black messenger bag beside her.

"So.. who are you routing for?" Jesse asked, figuring she might be a friend of Melina's opponent. Of course she could just be another bored passenger that decided to take some time to watch the battles, but this battle didn't really have any spectators so he figured she might know him.
I'll let you add anything else to her look Lux (because I kinda got the feeling that you'd control her after this), I just gave her an overall look so she wasn't a blob witha gender.

That's fine.
The girl turned and smiled at Jesse. As Jesse got closer, it was revealed that the woman was also quite tanned and was several inches taller than Jesse; she had to be at least college-age, which in Trainer years was quite a lot. In fact, one might wonder why she was on this ship that was transporting to one of the first Gyms Trainer's hit up.

"Oh, no one just yet." The young woman said, her large gray eyes sparkling. "I just wanted to see what would happen in this battle- you see, I once owned a Bulbasaur too, and the young girl over there reminded me of myself. I remember when I was in her position, facing my first opponent..." She said wistfully, and then she shook her head as if reprimanding herself. "Oh, but what bad manners I have! I haven't properly introduced myself- my name is Mabel." The woman held out her hand for Jesse to shake, wiggling her hand so that a charm bracelet fell back down her arm and wouldn't impinge on the handshake. "And you are...?" she asked politely.

***

"Great. Well then- battle start!" Nathan said, and then without warning barked, "Roli! Hit Alice with a Water Gun, and Kip, run up and Tackle Kit, followed by a Lick!" Kip instantly barreled forward, while Roli forcused for a second and then a spout of water shot straight for Alice.

"Alice, use to charm them!" Duke called, at the cat. He didn't doubt she could do it too. He turned in attention to the munchlax charging at Kit. "Kit! Howl into quick attack!" True to his faith in her, Alice managed to avoid the worst of the water gun, the glancing blow knocked her over. She cried out plaintively and dramatically fell over, he paw covering her face. Water droplets sparked in the air around her as she looked up at Roli and blinked those large eyes at him. That cat should be in contests. Kit, on the other hand, immediately howled out reassuringly, though some of the Meowth on the deck, jumped, startled.

Though Alice's perfomance was born from her natural talent, kit's immediate understanding of Duke's commands were born from the years they spent together. Fearlessly, he dashed forward, a white glow trailing behind him. He didn't have much room between himself and Kip; the formers charge having gained ground while he was howling encouragement, he made up for it with the speed of his assault. Almost before Kip realized, Kit was there, crashing into Nathan's pokemon head on, heedless to whether or not it was a futile effort.

Ace had been thinking, but it struck him; the first move the Buizel had used was Water Jet. And that name just seemed to fit in Ace's head. Now satisfied that he had come up with a good name, he entered his Pokemon's nickname into the Pokedex, and turned to watch his friends battle. No one had quite approached him yet, but he was glad for the chance to relax a little and just see which of his friends would win which battle. Taking more interest in Nathan's battle, he strolled toward him, close enough to be able to observe the action, but far enough away that he wouldn't be in any danger of being hurt. Go Nathan! he cheered silently. Then, Go Duke!

Daniel patted his friend on the back. "Awesome! You have a new Pokemon! However, you're gonna have to catch up to me to get 4 Pokemon!" Daniel then got an idea. "Hmm...you think you're up to a quick Pokemon battle? If you don't want to, that's fine, but if you're game, you could try to defeat all 4 of my Pokemon! I'll go easy on you, of course!" Chu stirred and overheard the conversation, at which point she started sending out multicolored sparks of joy. She thought it would be fun. Besides, there were other battles going on across the deck of the ferry. Why not join in?

Bulbasaur was straining against Glameow's force - no, he wouldn't be beaten that easily - yes, he would accept that he couldn't win against Guardon, but Glameow was nowhere near the size or velocity of the Ground Pokemon - if he lost against Glameow, he would be ashamed - he had to stay awake - he couldn't sleep - stay awake - stay awake - stay awake - don't sleep - don't start thinking of Mareeps leaping over fences - stay awake - STAY AWAKE - STAY AWAKE -

His bulb was swelling as a side result of his ferocious resistance; it was at this time that Melina truly admired Bulbasaur's battle spirit. Even against Guardon, he had fought until he could really, really, really, really no longer exert himself; now was no different against Glameow. Suddenly, a Leech Seed popped out of his bulb, and with it, he broke Glameow's power. As he stood, momentarily dazed by his effort, Melina watched the seed overshoot their area and roll away to somewhere.

"BULBA!"

The sudden vociferation caused Melina to jump. There was a rush of wind as Bulbasaur leapt off the ground and rammed his head straight into Glameow. Both Pokemon flew backwards from the impact; Glameow was hissing and spitting furiously, and Bulbasaur was using a vine to rub his forehead. Glameow, not at all content with what was happening, suddenly pounced, her claws already barred, her mouth open to reveal her glistening fangs.

"Glameow, Scratch him!" Bulbasaur was still uncomfortable, and had no time to dodge. He started backwards as the claws came into contact with his face. Melina was just as fast to recover, and she ordered-

"Come on! Vine Whip!" He swung the vine like a lasso, and with a wide trajectory curve, smashed it hard on the side of Glameow's face. The impact dragged the helpless Pokemon a little distance, stopping only when the attack was over. There was a brief pause, and Melina was twisting the folds of her skirt nervously. Glameow looked pretty worn ... the question was, was she going to leap to her feet or not?

"I'm Jesse, pleased to meet you" Jesse responded pleasantly, accepting Mabel's handshake. As he did he heard Melina's bublbasaur roar ina way he didn't even know bulbasaurs could and it made him jump slightly.

As he looked back to the field he saw how the bulbasaur went into some kind of rage mode and slammed right into the Glameow, although it seemed to have hurt its own head by doing so.

"Wow, that Bulbasaur is tougher than I expected it to be" Jesse said, mostly to himself as his attention shifted to the battle again. As he said that he realized that his hand was still holding on to Mabel's and he quickly dropped, and blushed slightly. "okay... awkward" he thought to himself and ran a hand through his hair, that was still kind of ruined by the water that had splashed up on him earlier, luckily it wasn't too bad.
