PikMan
I'm starting to become a fan of the Final Fantasy franchise. I already have 1, 2, and 7 (Which is just as good as everybody says, by the way), and which one should I get next?
Saturn of Elemia
Final Fantasy 4 (2 U.S) and and 6 (3 U.S) are a MUST!
Goodnight
9 9>7>10>12 fit JP's #6 in between 7 and 12 somewhere. It's been awhile since I played it last, so I can't properly gauge it.
Blake
Even though it's a spinoff, Mystic Quest. It is the best game in the whole series, especially considering its time. Great music and story.
Phantom Roxas
Get the DS version of IV. XII and XIII are also pretty fun.
-Griffin
IV was weird.
Everyone killed themself, then magically survived. Seriously wat.
I like the tactics games because I'm weird like that. Also, most of the early games are far, far too easy IMO.
Spoon
I like the tactics games because I'm weird like that.
You're not as weird as you might think, the Tactics parts were great (all of them), my clock on FFTA currently says 100 hours and 100%
Also, most of the early games are far, far too easy IMO.
I always thought those were the only challenging parts... I actually never finished FF VI, because I made a huge mistake when entering the final dungeon and didn't want to do it all over again Anyway, as always, there is no "best" Final Fantasy game, there are only preferences. I like IX and can definitely recommend it if you liked the older parts (pre-VII), but as you seem to like VII, I'd also check out everything inbetween (except XI and XIV for obivous reasons). -Griffin
I mean the games early in the series - 1, 2, & 4 (that I've played so far) - I always found myself massively overleveled.
Twig
X, I, XII, and XIII are the only ones I've played. X is the best from what I've played. I was decent. XII was ok. I have mixed feelings for XIII. Beginning is meh, but later in the game, the paradigm battle system gets more fun.
Dementuo
III is good, VII is good, X is good, XII is good, and VI was good. IV was alright, but I just liked the music.
Goodnight
8's story was just terrible. Which is a shame because everything else was pretty good.
\Excalibur/
i like XII the most. the game mechanics were good and gambits are a good way to make good use of a characters strong points in ways of melee/ ranged/magicks/ etc. i personally didn't care about X-2 mainly because i think it looked like a fan fiction of X. Goodnight
FFXII Zodiac Edition is way better than the original. Just a shame it was never released outside of japan so to play it you have to download an emulator and play a translated copy
Lewk
4 & 8 (7 if you want to get into the whole Cloud saga). Chocobo Tales it stupidly fun and ff3 has its quirks.
Tentacruel
Only have XIII. Well, somebody gave me X, but it doesn't work, and VIII, but I haven't played it yet. XIII is great though.
Amethyst Phoenix
X is good. The original Tactics is a masterpiece. XII and XIII are also really good. Each game has different playstyles etc though, so it's not always the same crap each time. But it maintains a sense of familiarity by not completely flipping the mechanics and its usage of recurring themes such as chocobos, airships, and summons. That's what I like about it. Rumiа
I don't know why, but I am just drawn to the prequel game behind the story of Final Fantasy; Crisis Core. I can honestly say that I have completed the game on normal and hard-mode and it was thrilling both ways. The graphics are a little disappointing as this is Enix we're talking about, however, it introduces a new way of fighting into the game while keeping the basic final fantasy plot line; protagonists hunting down the main antagonist. There is also the element of the rebel against Shinra 'Genesis' which I find extremely interesting as you find yourself struggling to decide whether you are really on the side of good or on the side of evil. FF Fan
Final Fantasy IX is my favorite, but just about all of them are good.

The Amazing Avian
The only one I'm missing is 2. My opinion: VIII>VI>IV>XIII>X>XII>VII>IX>V>III>I
Kiyo
III. I love level grinding and job systems. If I'd played V, it would probably be my fav instead. Then again, I've only played I-IV, and a bit of VI (awesome) and VII (meh).

PikMan
I just got 4 yesterday. And lemme tell you, it is GOOD. I'm getting 6 next. And looking at the Nintendo Power review of Final Fantasy 1, I can say that that game's criminally underrated.
thanonyx
I've got 1 on the Wii, 4 for the PS1, and 7, 8, and 9 also for the PS1. Yes 1 is underrated just because it's old, but it is fun. It's like you make your own adventure. 4 is also a good game with a good story to it. Even though the three key characters have become staples in Square games as of late (Cecil= Sora/Ventus, Rosa= Kairi/Aqua, Kain= Riku/Terra). 7 is phenominal hands down. The graphics were revolutionary for their time and it also has a good story, not as good as 4 but still. I just wish they didn't overcomplicate it with so many spinoffs. 8, also good and it features one of my favorite characters in the FF franchise, Angelo. I like how you draw spells instead of using MP and you can stock a spell or summon up to 100 times. I'm also fond of the scenery in the game but the one downside I don't like is that you have to fight some of the summons as a boss in order to use them, and they're all hard. 9 is my personal favorite. It has all of my favorite characters like Zidane, Vivi, Adlebert "Rusty" Steiner. But the big thing that git me started playing is Tetra Master the card mini game. It's fun as all get out in fact I think I literally spend half of the game playing it. IMO the FF franchise fell from grace when 10 came out, since then it has just deviated so far from the game it used to be. One last note, another underrated game, Final Fantasy Tactics, it's fun too. It's like playing chess only better. It's chess with real knights and wizards and thieves and dragoons and dragons and chocobos and skeletons and goblins and monks and samurai and ninja and demons and ghosts and big cats and you get the idea. anyway, that's my input
Larxene
My personal opinion. VIII > VI > IV > X > VII > XIII > XII > V > IX > I > II > III XI and XIV don't count. I have never played IX but it seems to be universally agreed that it's better than the first 3 games from everyone I know who has played them all. I have played II and V, but haven't beaten either of them.
