"My turn again, draw." The Tao King then drew another card from his Deck. "I activate the effect of the Superior XIII Device. During each of my Standby Phases, I can place one XIII counter on it for every XIII monster I control. So that means I add one." And then the device above the Tao King glowed for a moment, before resuming its usual rotation. "Just so you know, there are absolutely no trap cards in my deck. Not one. Activate my quick-play spell card, Foreboding Power of XIII." The Tao King's face-down card then flipped open. "It allows me to add a XIII monster from my deck to my hand, I have to reveal it to you, and then I can increase the monster of a XIII The Key monster I control by half the ATK of the added monster until the End Phase. So I add the card Organization XIII The Key of Destiny." The Tao King then took a card from his deck and showed it to Kyza, before adding it to his hand. "And since its ATK is 2500, the ATK of my Organization XIII The Key Counterfeit becomes 3250." The ATK of the teenage girl then increased, and with it the size of its key. "Now I activate the effect of the Key Counterfeit again." And then the girl turned to the device and shot another laser at it, increasing its XIII Counters to 3.
"Now I activate the second effect of the Superior XIII Device. It allows me, by removing XIII Counters from it, to Special Summon a monster from my hand, deck, or graveyard whose level equals to the counters removed. So I remove all three of its counters in order to Special Summon the Level 3 XIII Nobody Dusk from my Deck." The Superior device's rotation accelerated for a moment, and then a small humanoid-like entity which looked exactly like the Tao King's personal Mu Spirit appeared (ATK 1300). "Now I tribute that XIII Nobody Dusk to Tribute Summon the monster I earlier showed you, the Key of Destiny." The entity then disappeared, and was replaced by a boy with blond hair about the same age and wielding and wearing the same items as the girl (ATK 2500). "I then activate the effect of the Key of Destiny. Once per turn, it can destroy a face-down card on the field. So I'll destroy one of those set cards you have." The boy pointed its own key at one of the face-downs, and then a laser shot from it, which broke through the set card. "Just so you know, the two monsters I control cannot be destroyed by battle. Now, the Key of Destiny, attack his face-down monster. And the Key Counterfeit, prepare to attack directly."

"Nice try trying to destroy my face down, but I gotta say, I'm used to being destroyed while i'm lurking in the dark." Kyza chuckled, his eyes shimmering slightly, "I chain to the activation of your card's effect and play Infernity Inferno, the very card you were trying to destroy. Kinda like when a person plays Mystical space typhoon to destroy a face down, then the opponent flips up that face down to destroy another card on the field. I get used to duelling on the knife's edge, we get used to that with Itsu. So, my face down you attempted to destroy can still go through, but hey, it wont destroy your cards. Instead, i get to discard two cards from my hand." he discarded the two cards he had in his hand, a spell card called 'Infernity Tempest' and another Trap card, Spectre Hand, "and send two Infernity cards from my deck to the graveyard also." Two more Infernitys were discarded, an Infernity Death Knight and Infernity Death Wraith. His graveyard shimmered as the Wraith was discarded, before a black smoke poured from it.
"When my Infernity Death Wraith is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, if i have no cards in my hand, I can special summon it in face up defense position." The image of a smokey, shadowy figure formed on the field from the smoke, standing a little way in front of Kyza, but looking like a shadow duplicate of him with whited out eyes and no true facial features, even wearing the same clothes.
"As for your attack, that does go through, revealling my Infernity Death Hangman" He smiled, the image of an ogre-like creature with a noose crafted out of chains moaned and then faded from sight, before Infernity Avenger appeared on the field, becoming a level 3 monster in defense mode, as a result of his own effect of being summoned when a moster on his side of the field was destroyed and taking the level of the destroyed monster.
"with Key counterfit, I'll use this trap card, Infernity Switch! Don't worry, it won't destroy her. It gets better then that" he grinned, pointing to his graveyard, "i can change your target to a card in my graveyard, so my Infernity Death Hangman gets removed from play instead" Again the hangman wailed and cried out as his shadowy essence rose from the graveyard and then vanished, disappearing in the darkness around them.
Above the coffin, a Death counter shimmered into view as a result of Infernity Death Hangman's destruction
New cards played;
Infernity Tempest; By removing more then 4 death counters from your side of the field, you can have one Infernity monster on your side of the field gain the attack of every Infernity monster on your side of the field. Only that monster may attack the turn you use this effect.
Spectre Hand; (continuous) When you control an Infernity monster, once per turn, you can remove from play face down all cards in your opponent's hand. Those cards return to your opponent's hand during their next standby phase
Infernity Death Wraith; DARK, Level 1, Fiend/Tuner, 0 atk, 0 def. When you have no cards in your hand and this card is sent to the graveyard by a card effect, you can special summon it from your graveyard.
Infernity Death Hangman; DARK, Level 3, Zombie/effect, 1000 atk, 2000 def, While you have no cards in your hand, you may destroy one card your opponent controls by removing 1 Death counter from your side of the field
Infernity Switch; This card can only be activated when you have no cards in your hand. When your opponent attacks an Infernity monster on your side of the field, negate the attack and remove an Infernity monster in your graveyard from play (Kyza took liberties with explaining the effect as diverting the attack, but the concept is the same)
Infernity Death Knight; DARK, Level 4, 1200 atk, 500 def, Warrior/effect, when this card is destroyed, remove two Death counters from the field to special summon this card in face up attack position
(Cards in hand; 0
Cards on field; 2 monsters, Avenger and Wraith, field spell.
cards out of play; 1, Hangman
Cards in graveyard; 6, Death Knight, Switch, Spectre Hand, Tempest, Foolish Burial, Inferno )

The Tao King grinned a bit under his mask, but Kyza was not to know that. "Impressive." He said, and he was a bit impressed. But it still couldn't compare to the battle with Isamy, and the Tao King, had he had been fighting at full power, would have used Roxas and Xion on the spot as Exceed Material Monsters to Exceed Summon his ultimate Exceed monster, which probably would have overwhelmed Kyza. But this was a duel only to pass the time, only for fun, so instead he would go with a different strategy, which he had already finished planning. "I have done what I can. So, I set one card and end my turn." The key owned by the Key Counterfeit then shrunk back to its normal size as its ATK returned to normal.

Tao King LP: 4000
Field: KoD (ATK 2500), KC (ATK 2000)
S/T: SXD (Counters: 0), 1 SC

Kyza drew his card, chuckling as he looked to the field, "Ok, I'll tribute my Infernity Avenger and put him back into the graveyard, to summon Infernity Apprentice to the field!"
A rather tall, elegant Witch rose from the ground beside Infernity Death Wraith, looking to the eerie ghastly Kyza-doppleganger upon the field. At first glance, she had a passing resemblence to an older looking Vicky, though shrouded in necromancer-style robes, a gothic looking tome within her grasp. Yet despite her beauty, she still looked young, inexperienced, had the potential to learn more.

Infernity Apprentice; DARK, Level 6, Spellcaster/effect, 1900 attack, 1700 defence. When this monster is summoned when you have no cards in your hand, neither player can activate Spells or Trap cards for the rest of the turn

"Thanks to her effect, neither of us can use spells or traps for the rest of this turn." He smirked, then rose his hand into the air, the two cards fading into black smoke and the ghostly aura seeping into the coffin behind him, "but she won't be staying around. For you see, when Infernity Apprentice, powerful as she is, merges with the Infernity Death Wraith, such darkness is unlocked to form one of my personal favourite cards"

The coffin opened, and climbing from out within was a dark haired, pale skinned and tall woman, one of her hands grasping a long, gothic styled staff and the other hand a long claw. Her clothes looked familiar, as though made out of the shadowy material that had beeing Infernity Death Wraith clinging to her body and crafting the clothes upon her

Infernity Witch; DARK, Level 7, 1 DARK Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters, 2600 attack, 200 defense, Spellcaster/effect; Any counters created are treated as Death counters. When you have no cards in your hand, you may activate this card's effect; -Remove one Death counter on your side of the field to select one card on the field and switch it to defence mode

"By using her effect, I'm switching your Counterfeit to defense by removing a Death counter from my field spell. But, as i have no cards in my hand, I can replace that Death counter" behind him, the Death counter burned out only to reignite once again, as the Witch raised her hand, forcing the counterfit to kneel in defense mode.

"Now, Infernity Death Witch will attack your counterfit"

"Hm." The Tao King muttered as Kyza summoned his Infernity Apprentice, before activating his face-down. "I activate my face-down Quick-Play Spell card, Division By Zero! When it is activated, both players must draw cards equal to the number of monsters they control, and then all spell and trap cards drawn must be set!" Since the Tao King controlled two, he drew two cards, and Kyza would have to do the same. He was actually betting that Kyza would draw a monster which would leave him with a hand card, but it didn't actually matter, since all he would do was inflict a bit of damage. "Both cards I have drawn are not monsters, so I set them both."

((If Kyza drew a monster, which would make Infernity Apprentice's effect useless))

The Tao King watched as he let his Key Counterfeit disappear, although he could have saved it. "I activate my Quick-Play Spell card, Anger of XIII! When an Organization XIII monster I control is destroyed by battle, I can increase the ATK of another Organization XIII monster I control by the amount of the destroyed monster until my End Phase!" The Key of Destiny watched as its counterpart disappeared, and then a black aura surrounded it, covering it. When the aura went away, its hood was up which cloaked its face, and held two different big keys. One was white, and one was black, and had their own pattern (ATK 4500).
Quick-Play Spell Card
Both players must draw cards equal to the number of monsters they control. If they control no monsters, they must draw six cards from their Deck.

When an "Organization XIII" monster you control is destroyed by battle and sent to the Graveyard, increase the ATK of another "Organization XIII" monster you control by the ATK of the destroyed monster until your End Phase.

Vicky just watched the duel between her fiancee and her guest.

Rei started to tend to Zero's wounds, trying to at least stabilize him for travel.

Out of the darkness of the waters surrounding the island, a blue glow started to appear and head for the island. The close the glowing spot on the water got to the island, the brighter it became, until a bit of blue hair poked out of the water, followed by more short blue hair and a cute, angelic face with warm blue eyes. The woman, who appeared to be in her mid-20s and glowing, though only slightly from her body but brightly enough from the rest of her body that Zero couldn't see anything he wasn't supposed to see, walked up to Akira and placed a hand on his back, smiling comfortably. "Hello, Zero. I am Mizu. I am an interdimensional traveler, just like you, but I couldn't help but notice how much darkness was in your heart, so I have come here to give you my aid."

Zero didn't turn around, but his marked flashed again. This time, the ligh was a deep blue. "Mizu? That's an interesting name." Zero said. "You have a good enough aura, so I'm sure I can trust you. Yet... You have knowledge of my own inner darkness. How is it that you can see it?" Zero asked. "And how in the hell did you get here?" Zero asked, this time in a slightly more aggressive tone. "This island is pretty out of the way, and I'm supposed to be the only one who knows its location." Zero explained. Not but a second later, another dragon, different from Zero's first dragon, appeared. This one was made sheerly of crystals, all different colors, glistening in the sunlight. It growled a little. "Just how much do you know about me?"

Mizu gently stroked Zero's back, trying to calm him down. "Well, let's start with the last question first and work from there. I know about you because I read enough from my dive here, which brings me to your second question. This is actually an astral projection of me. My real body is meditating several million miles antispinward of your current location. And finally, your first question. I have the gift to sense the darkness in people's hearts. Yours practically obscures the light of the hearts around you, like the girl you found. I feel a sort of...kinship...with her. Innocent, and a bit naive sometimes, but sweet and kind. She is currently tending to your physical wounds. I have decided to help you with your psychological."

The crystal dragon began to fade, slowly. "So it seems." Zero said in agreement. "Being a friend of Rei's, I'd assume you know a woman by the bmname of Itsu Solace, no? She seems quite popular these days. I've been hearing the name everywhere." Zero said, the dragon now almost completely gone. "Now, you say you're here to help with my psychological wounds. But I ask you, what wounds might these be? I've conquered this darkness once already." Zero inquired. "And onefjord question for you, since you seem quite knowledgable. If you can sense my own darkness... There is a person I've been looking for. Tell me... You've seen this dragon before, haven't you?" Zero asked.

Mizu conjured up a gown of semi-transparent white material and wrapped it around herself, reducing her glow so Zero could see her body a bit better, though the gown now provided for her modesty. She held him close, resting his head against her chest and still trying to make him feel comfortable. "Itsu Fudo, that is. She decided that she no longer needed her alias. And she is my mother, at least, my adopted mother. You see, I am a time duplicate of a woman simply named 'Aqua'. In a strange accident, I was created, though only as a baby. Itsu took me in and raised me, teaching me what I needed to know before letting me go out into the multiverse. I became an interdimensional traveler of my own, and I came here, hoping to find her. I haven't seen her in a long time. But enough about me. I am here for you. Darkness can be conquered, but it must be controlled. I don't want you to slip into this sea of darkness, because I am afraid that you might join this dark presence I keep feeling."

Zero closed his eyes, and the dragon completely faded, along with his mark. Zero stood for a moment, deep in thought, before speaking. "That's an interesting story. But if you're really looking for Itsu, then why did you come here? This place... There's only one way here, and I thought I had destroyed that link..." Zero said, speaking the last part as nearly inaudible. "...You won't find anyone else here, Mizu. This place has long since been abandoned by my kind." Zero informed. He opened his eyes again. "Your aura changed a second ago. Before, it was pure, but now, there's a tainted portion, though it keeps moving... Enough about that. You still haven't answered my question. You've seen that dragon before, haven't you?" Zero repeated.

Mizu nodded. "In your memories, yes. That's your brother's isn't it?" She slowly sat down, taking Zero with her, allowing them to relax a bit more as they remained on the island. "Anyways, I wasn't talking about in here. I meant before this. When I arrived here, I felt this foreboding presence, and it spiked up even more a few hours ago. Some powerful evil threatens to consume this Ringworld."

Rei finished tending to Zero's cuts and bruises, and started on a makeshift stretcher for him.

"So you have seen it before..." Zero muttered. "...This evil presence... I felt it, too." Zero said. Once more, he could hear a voice in his head, trying to break him from the dream. But then, a second voice cane into his mind, trying to anchor him within the dream. Zero could hear the two voices arguein with eachother, trying to persuade Zero to go a certain way. He ignored them for the moment. "You have an odd presence about you. It's... Comforting. Part of me doesn't want to leave, now that you're here. But at the same time, I have to go... So which is it? Do you want me to leave, or are you trying to keep me here?" Zero asked. The voices grew a little louder, though Zero still couldn't make them out. However, now his mark was glowing the normal soft, red color.

Rei was gently trying to get Zero to awaken. "Come on, Zero...wake up...I don't want to have to carry you all night..."

Mizu looked up as a beam of light pierced through the darkness and appeared on the island a couple dozen yards away. "I was waiting for that. That is your ticket back to reality. I was just here to protect you, and to make sure the darkness didn't try and consume you during your brief stay down here. Now, would you like for me to escort you, or do you think you can manage it from here on out? Either way, once I return to my body, I will try to find you, so we can meet face to face." She kissed him on the forehead. "You know, you're rather cute."

Zero gave a weak smirk, and stood up. "I'm sure I can manage." Zero said, walking towards the beam of light. "And just so you know..." Zero said, before stepping in. He turned his head slightly, to face Mizu. "I've already got a girl waiting for me. I suppose I should thank you, for the help." Zero said. Reaching into his pocket. He pulled out the small Geode slice, and put it on. He turned back to the light. "Be swing you, then." Zero said, as he stepped in. Immediately, the island began to melt away, and Zero felt a strange swirling sensation. Everything went black for a few moments.

-Back in reality-

Zero woke up, his first sight being Rei. "How long was I out for?" Zero asked with a grin on his face. He got up slowly, and noticed his wounds were gone. "Impressive." Zero said, examining himself, checking for any lingering wounds.

Rei smiled sweetly at Zero, the cute moe girl putting away some crude utensils she had made. "I scanned the local flora and found some basic chemical structures that I was able to use to create some rather primitive, but effective, healing salves. You'll be sore for a couple of days, but you're pretty much fine. I mean, it was only a few cuts and bruises." She helped him up. "So how was your nap?"

On a plateau several million miles away, a woman in her mid-20s was meditating in some ancient ruins. She had spiky blue hair, a blue and black outfit with silver armor pieces, and a scabbard on her left side. She opened her ocean-blue eyes slowly, then muttered. "Zero..."

"Oh, it was just fine..." Zero said. He looked up at the tower for a brief moment. "Sore for a couple days? That's nothing, compared to what I've experienced in the past." He said, turning back to Rei. He thought for a quick second. "I think it's about time we left, don't you?" Zero asked. "Akira." Zero called, looking past Rei. "We're heading our to Sky Tower. I'll be able to locate Zwei from there." He called out to Akira. Anticipating the question of who Zwei was, Zero explained to Rei "Zwei's an old friend of mine, and also another guardian. He'll be able to help us, though first I need to find him."

Akira, who was sitting in the back of the room, turned towards Zero and Rei. "Alright, then" he replied as he lifted himself up. He walked over to Rei, and whispered "Thanks for helping Zero..." before turning back to Zero. With that, Akira lifted his palm - it lit up for a moment with a white aura, then stopped glowing. "Well, I've taken down the barrier I put up earlier, so we should get moving quickly before we get noticed again" Akira suggested, draping his cloak over himself.

"Alright then, Akira." Zero said. He walked outside, and held up his hand. Immediately, his mark glowed again. Using his index and middle fingers as a blade of sorts, he sliced throughthe air, and a slit in time and space opened up. Zero opened it widely, and began to step in. "Rei, follow me, and stick to my side. We'll be going into a rather dangerous place, and I don't want anything happening to you." Zero said, slowly easing his way throughthe portal. "To think I'd have to return here... I hope that thing won't act up again..." Zero thought. "Akira, I'll want you to stay at the entrance, and make sure we aren't followed."

Rei did, slipping into the portal cautiously. "So, why are we doing this again? Why don't we try and find some way to someone who knows what's going on? I mean, you two recently arrived, and I've been in a time-lock for who knows how long."

Vicky motioned for one of the idle soldiers to go and get her some popcorn. As the soldier did, she continued to watch the duel.

Mizu held up a card to the sky, and a blue dragon appeared that snorted out a gush of cold air. The woman gently petted the dragon, who nuzzled her hand, before generating a saddle and reins out of thin air, mounting the dragon, and flying off, hoping to eventually reach Zero, Rei, and Akira.

The three had ended up standing outside a very large tower, nearly 20 times the size of the previous one. Behind them was a small bridge, made of tree roots and various types of greenery. "The problem with your idea, Rei, is that none of us know what's going on. No one who we can locate easily, at least. But, Zwei should be able to help us." Zero said. He looked up into the sky, to the peak of the tower. It ascended through the clouds that surrounded it, and through those clouds, Zero could make out the distinct red crescent moon. "Good, we're in the right place." Zero muttered, taking a step towards the tower. The platform they were on was a bit narrow, room for about 3 people to stand shoulder-to-shoulder, width-wise. In terms of length, it was about 20 yards long. "Rei, you'll be coming with me. I think you need to see this." Zero beckoned with his hand, still walking towards the tower.

Rei followed Zero. "What is it?"

Mizu was tired. She was never going to reach Zero and Rei at this rate. She sighed, and started to look for a place to land, when a swirling multi-colored vortex filled with lightning appeared out of thin air, and a massive ship plowed through the vortex. It consisted of a central section connected to two side sections via wires, pipes, tubes, and other assorted attachments. The bluish-grey of the hull contrasted with the orange lights dotting the surface of the ship. On the sides were paintings of a blue police box zooming through the stars, with the caption "Awful Lot of Running III" behind it in cursive script.

"We're going to go find Itsu." Zero said, turning towards the tower once more. Zero took Rei by the hand, and led her inside, where a massive spiral staircase ascended high into the darkness of the tower. The moment he set foot inside, Zero felt his energy begin to drain. "Urh... Forgot what that felt like." Zero muttered. He looked over at Rei for a second. "It's interesting, what this tower can do. Normally, it would drain the life force out of anyone who sets foot inside of it. But, fortunately, I'm an exception to that rule. So long as you stay close to me, you won't feel a thing." Zero explained, looking back up to the top, though it wasn't visible through the darkness. They climbed the staircase slowly, Zero looking down to the bottom every so often. When they reached a clearing, about 10 minutes had passed, and they were standing at what appeared to be the top, though the stairs led further still. They were right above the cloud line, and the second portion of the tower appeared to be floating. The red moon shone brighter than it had before. "Just a bit farther." Zero said, leading Rei up further.
When they had finally reached the top, Zero almost fell, letting go of Rei's hand, and catching himself before hitting the ground. He sighed. "Ok, we're safe up here..." He said, exasperated. The peak of the tower was rather plain. There were seven pillars encompassing the tower, each embedded with a different colored gemstone. Each stone was roughly the size of a normal-sized human head. "Took you long enough." A nearby voice said. Zero looked around slowly. "I thought I might find you here." The voice continued. "That's supposed to be my line, y'know." Zero responded. A figure stepped out from behind one of the pillars. He looked to be about 19, and was wearing a white cloak. Almost everything else he was wearing was white, too; His shirt, pants, shoes, and gloves. The man walked up to Zero. For a few seconds, they just stared at eachother. Then, they laughed a bit. "A whole year already, eh Zero?" The man asked. "Yeah, a whole year." Zero replied. "Now, to cut to the chase. Rei, this is Zwei." Zero said. "Zwei, this is Rei. I found her in those ruins you told me about." Zero said. Zwei looked over at Rei for a second, before turning back to Zero. "Really? Well, what do you need me for, then?" Zwei asked. "I need to find someone named Itsu. And since you're the only one who remembers how to work this damn tower, I brought her with me to help you search." Zero explained to Zwei. "So, Rei, I'll need you to explain to Zwei what Itsu looks like, ok?" Zero said to Rei. Zero then walked over to the pillar on the opposite side of the tower, and put his hand on the crystal. Immediately, both his mark and the crystal flashed. "Ok, Rei. Now it's your turn."

"I figured as much from a King" Kyza chuckled, drawing his card to match up to the number of monsters he controlled, only one, and glanced to it. He smiled, it was a spell, but admittedly he would've liked to use it that turn. It was the fun of being a Handless duelist, often watching opponent forcing him to draw, granting him more options each and every turn, whilst walking the knife edge of potentially loosing his monster's effects.

"Nice move there King, giving me a card to my hand at the time of Apprentice's summoning so her effect won't activate. But at least I can set it and continue using my Witch's effect" he set the spell card face down and resumed his move as before leading to the destruction of the Key Counterfit.

As the field calmed back to its eerie silence, he gestured to the Tao King, "Your turn, I end." before glancing over to Vicky, "thought it would be best to use my Tag duel deck for this duel, just for fun." He wasn't disrespecting the Tao King, but it was obvious that the deck he used was themed around himself and Vicky, unlike his usual deck. He was deliberately giving himself a handicap, as was the Tao King by not overpowering him earlier

"It doesn't matter." He said. "It's been a while since I've last had a duel that was worth it. My turn, draw!" He then drew a card from his deck. He knew that Organization XIII The Key of Destiny had been on the field now for three turns. And as long as The Key of Destiny was in Attack Position, it couldn't be destroyed by battle. "It's my Standby Phase, so the Superior XIII Device gets another XIII Counter." It glowed for a moment, before the Tao King resumed the duel. "I activate the Equip card Corruption of XIII from my hand! During each End Phase, a XIII Counter must be put on it, and for every XIII Counter on it, it loses 500 ATK. But the good thing is, when there are five XIII Counters on it, I can permanently double its ATK!" A dark thing then emerged from the ground and wrapped itself around the Key of Destiny, but it seemed not to notice.
