CinnamonStar
From the few I've played, I liked Gold and Silver. Only the elite 4 were so easy, you can't level up your Pokémanz for crap (at least I couldn't).=/ But I'm not a good player, I just play for fun.=) What's different in HeartGold and SoulSilver? And is Black or White good? I loved G/S because of the 2 "worlds" or whatever and the long storyline. Ruby/Sapphire/Emerald were short again. Lonk
I want to get a copy of either Black or White before making my decision. However, the critics that rated the game so far say it is the best pokemon game so far.

Most I like FireRed and LeafGreen, HeartGold and SoulSilver and Ruby and Sapphire pokemon games. Resident Fascist
They're all great, but it has to be emerald. It took the two games I grew up with and made them even better. For sheer nostalgic value, Nothing beats R/S/E To me.
Aesirson
I voted Black/White. All of them are good, and now that I look back R/S/E was probably the one I liked the least. Black/White has an awesome story and a lot of new, awesome Pokémon, without 25% of them being connected to old Pokémon.

Aesirson
I'm not saying that they were bad. It is purely personal preferences. -The story was meh. The evil tems didn't have a good reason for doing what they did. -The Pokémon were okay, but not as interesting as other generations. -The only game I didn't get past the E4 in. The E4 in R/S/E where pretty tough. Took me about a year to beat them...

Sorin Markov
IMO Emerald was the best Pokemon game, I played Black(Rom) and Emerald got a better storyline, yes i said STORYLINE. My Top 5 pokemon games 1. Emerald 2. Heart Gold and Soul Silver 3. Yellow, red , blue 4. Platinum 5. Black and White
Silver The Hedgehog
My all time favorite, was Pokemon Blue. My Charizard was almost lv 92 because I figured out how to use pokeballs when I was way past the 8th gym. Now I look back and see how much I failed when I fought Green (I think that was his name?). But Platinum and Emerald obviously deserve a spot at the top.

burnpsy
Honestly, after playing Black in English, I can safely say that, factoring in the standards of the times when each individual game was released, they're about the same.

RaltZ
In my opinion, Pokemon Emerald was as close to perfect as you can get. All the sprites and animation look great, the gameplay is fast paced, and the music was spot on. I cant say too much about Black and White, since I havent bought it yet, but from what Ive played, there's not much to complain about... Except for one thing. Why did they get rid of the PokeWalker?! That was one of the greatest innovations for the Pokemon series, and they got rid of it.
