The art on this site

Shadow Artist

Question

How many people actually CREATE their own art for their cards?

if someone who replies does for their monsters, could you tell me what program you use?
i make my own art, but i cant create figures... such as people, monsters, ect... just designs and objects... thats why ive only been making non-monster cards so far =/

I don't make my own as i can draw worth flip so i can scan and edit it...

But if you draw than scan the image onto your computer and use photoshop or Gimp to edit it.

But if you can't than learn to use Gimp or Photoshop (if you are good you can draw on those, but i am not one of those people good at this stuff) though i have some monster images on Photoshop (though i can't remember how i did them just making them)
o ya almost forgot if you don't mind quality so much you can make images with MS paint. (there not the best but it does work)

If i had the skills, i would use my own art. Unfortunately, im so bad, its downright offensive to look at it. just look at it! http://hergman.deviantart.com/gallery/?offset=48#/d29rgdb

so usually i ask for kind artist if i can borrow their art for the cards
unless they are screen shots, those i take myself

look in your accessories in all programs for MS paint
haha, i know what your talking about (sry, forgot to mention)
i downloaded a free, better version of it. Paint.net
its paint and adobe photoshop combined basicly, and its also user friendly so its easy to find things and to get started with.
you just can't do much editing. its more for creating designs, not figures =/ (animals, people, ect...)

Paint.NET is NOT Photoshop in anyway. If it was, that would go against Copyrights.

I use Photoshop and it works great. ($700)

Look for JazinKay's archive, it's neat and looks realistic to Yu-Gi-Oh card images.

Also, grab some templates (LiAM's for card making (optional) and Soto's template for card edits (note that the 2 don't mix)).

For created image art, you have two options.

Draw them digitally as said above in Photoshop or a similar free software, Gimp.
OR

Draw them onto paper and then scan or take a picture of with a camera (flash off and on close-up mode or highest detail setting).
If you're looking for a template for cards, then really you need mine. It's far more advanced than the card maker on this site and is much higher quality. You would need 500 points and average knowledge of Photoshop or Gimp though, I wont teach you how to use it.

I have actually created some digital art for cards, but I found it pointless as the thread only got a few comments and most were criticising the artwork for not looking Yugioh enough.

Here are the three completely custom images I made, which no one paid attention to.
Feel free to use.

you underestimate how thin the copyright law is :P.

Open Office is almost identical to Microsoft Office but it's free and has a different UI and is coded from scratch in a different programming language. Since you cannot copyright a general use, it's like a game producer copyrighting creating video games. Paint.net and GIMP are both pretty close to photoshop.

However any Photoshop past CS3 will give you more option, the problem is that photoshop IS expensive which is why people use free alternative or pirate.
