Dark
I heard Epic Mickey's gameplay wasn't too special, but it has a really large nostalgia factor, and it's one of the only good things Disney will produce- at least in recent times. But the soundtrack, from what I've tasted, is pretty sick.
Clair
I need some game titles before I can check the OSTs. If it is RPG music, it kind of HAS to be good, or at least from what I've noticed. And you definitely are. You got me into video game music. Changing my opinion about ANYTHING is a feat in itself, but you've made me absolutely obsessed. And I still don't know how, but I'm glad you did. :3
Tales of Symphonia (GCN) Tales of Symphonia - Dawn of the New World (Wii) Awesome, I'm glad I'm spreading the VGM love. ^^ WEAR YOUR SIGNATURE PROUDLY
Hey, Disney Epic Mickey looks great, I wish I had a Wii to play that Don't know about the music, but hell, gameplay sure looks nice... do want
There are exceptions, of course. Dark
@ Twig: For some reason, I don't have that track in my iTunes. I have absolutely no reason why, but that is definitely going on my queue list. Looking at my Word file, my queue list is getting kind of big. I was going to wait until Spring Break before updating my iTunes again, but I think I might want to do it sometime sooner. I'll do get once I get through the Pokemon Black/White music. Dark
Yeah, I saw it. I listened to maybe two or three tracks and I'm really liking it so far. Not the most calming music in the world (at least the tracks I listened to), but it was very well-composed.

But I could have sworn there are at least 2 calming songs, if any.

Tourmaline
So, can I use Touhou and DDR stuff as video game music if I make an application? I know dozens of songs that are from both said series that I really like, but some of DDR's songs may sound like music you'd hear anywhere else.
Tales of Symphonia (GCN)
Beat the Angel is one of my favorite songs of the entire Tales series. Fatalize is a bit overrated, but I don't mind. It can Waver and Fight is pretty cool, I guess. Oh! Some from Vesperia are very good, as well. Tenacity, for instance. And Abyss. Obviously, Karma is one of the better ones, but it isn't originally video game music. Takes of the World has some pretty decent music. I love some of Paper Mario's themes. Like Shadow Queen's battle theme. Again, if Konami Originals count (It's cool 'cuz Konami has YGO and DDR), then I can add at least twenty songs to my list. Some music from Ys is pretty decent. Obviously, Kingdom Hearts is up there. You should hear Passion in Japanese, not in English. It's so much nicer. There's a lot of other stuff, too. I like Super Dimentio's battle theme. He's Super Paper Mario, in case it counts. There's the boss theme from Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest. It also has one of the BEST OSTs of any RPG I've ever played. My brother has an SNES emulator on his Laptop. Played all the music of this game at 143% speed. It sounds so amazing when sped up! Especially the battle themes! Tetris A Theme is a very good song, although it isn't originally video game music. Is Russian song about a peddler. Still pretty fun, though. I'm generic because I have every SSBB song on my iPod. It has some very good songs, really. They really improved Final Destination's theme. There's still more for me to cover, but I don't remember the rest of what I have. I still have at least 40 songs to remember that are in my Stepmania folder.... Then there's the few hundred on my iPod... Then the eighty others in my videos... Plus the songs in my brother's, since I don't have enough memory on mine to cram everything in there.... Walloftext.jpg

OT: As long as the lyrics provide only an accent and do not choke the entire musical beat, I am fine with them.
Tourmaline
In every DDR game, half the songs are actual songs. With all the lyrics and such. The other half are created on the spot for the game, 99% of the time. If it's better, I can completely forget all the songs with lyrics and post instrumentals only. Well, I certainly have http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSq0kMYTLqA I feed on this experience to this very day. Chills running down your spine every second of the performance (which was about 2 hours long I think). This video just shows the encore (you can see the whole performance on Youtube and also buy the CD), but the rest was equally strong. Rony Barrak is a GOD with those... whatever they're called, you can hear the audience scream when they hear the first glimpses of "One-Winged Angel"... it was just so friggin amazing. Standing ovations, at least 10 minutes after the cameras turned off... and people in the philharmonics of cologne you would NEVER, ever see there under normal circumstances. It sounds impossible to get 2000 people absolutely quiet, and yet so loud when they're needed. To be honest, it's something I would kill for to see, hear and feel it again. So yeah, the question: Anybody seen anything like that live? I know there were quite a few concerts of that kind all around the world, but it was the first big thing in Germany. Dark
Not really the best classical vgm, but hey, I just started this goddamn signature thing. Also, we could argue all day about whether lyrical music is vidoe game music or not, but the point is that neither opinion is a fact in this debate. I will always refer to lyrical music as not being video game music, and you the opposite. One-Winged Angel doesn't have lyrics (that probably wasn't why it was brought up, but whatever), because the people aren't singing a song. They are accenting the music with a few words like Sephiroth and a shitton of Latin.
