@ Twig: No. Never orchestrate S.S. Anne. That song is way too classic to be remixed or orchestrated. Except for Marine Science Museum in RSE, that is the only remix I'll accept.

Thanks!

Used to love this theme.

Basically in a game, the last boss or mission has the best music obviously.

Damn. I was trying to stay unspoiled to BW music until I got the game. Okay, one track isn't that bad.

This is easily my favorite Okami song. Okami has awesome music, btw.
I could've gone with just the song, but that would've been boring.

OKAMI~

How about real life songs turned into 8-bit sex organs? See what I did there? 'Cause an organ was used to make mu- *shot*

I'd agree to the Venus Lighthouse Theme, Golden Sun was a bit short on story, but it delivered what it promised, and the music definitely was one of those things. Oh, and hell yes to Battle with Magus. I actually never finished the game (and I didn't think it was that awesome either, but maybe because I lack the "original" experience, I had to play it on an emulator), but the music is one thing you just can't deny, it's the best the SNES could ever produce... except for FF VI :D I guess I have to prove that now.

No, it's not Dancing Mad, it's not the Opera... it's just Terra's Theme. So full of awesomeness... from the musical point of view it definitely ranks second in the series, right after IX, but that's just me saying it ;)

I forgot to mention how voting for requests work:

You say you are in favor of a song (you can pick as many as you want) and I put a tally (1 vote per song per person). At the end of the voting time, I tally up the votes and the 10 most voted songs appear as the featured musics.

Well, what could you discuss... let's see what I can scramble from the top of my mind... ah!

Mr. Jonathan Coulton will do the next Portal Credits Song as well! I mean, who did not love Still Alive? It was humorous and gave the character of GLaDOS a lot more charme than she already had... I might've cried a little when I saw and heard the credits... and if he can deliver only half the epicness for Portal 2, I'm gonna do it again :D

Not really video game music. Well, eh. I wouldn't consider Simple and Clean video game music from Chain of Memories, and anything with actual lyrics (One-Winged Angel does not count) shouldn't could as video game music, imo.

But Still Alive is a great song, and it's not that hard to sing. The lyrics are a bit eh. They aren't bad, but hitting some of the notes feels awkward.

Just because it has Lyrics doesn't mean it isn't VGM  It was specifically made for the medium, for this exact game. Unlike, for example, the Need for Speed or Tony Hawk Soundtrack, which is taken from various sources, it was meant to be in the game from the very first second. Another example of great lyrics in a video game is the Soundtrack for Alan Wake. Sure, there are some famous pieces like David Bowie's "Space Oddity" (which was just epic in this regard, but it is not a VGM) that were taken elsewhere, but you can also find original pieces that are made for the game itself, like The Poet and the Muse... and you can't tell me that this isn't VGM, because it even contains friggin' SPOILERS for the plot

The time of bleeps and bloops is over (for the most part), video games take an increasingly large amount of the market, and thus the music has to evolve as well. Sure, lyrics during a fight scene could be disturbing (though I wouldn't mind an epic choir, like it's done for film trailers), but overall, the direction isn't bad and supports the medium.

Vocalized VGM can be absolutely amazing. Give it a chance. D':

Two of my favorites. <3

Good music is good. Blue Dragon's Final boss theme sounds incredibly epic while The best is yet to come sounds beautiful!

And a ton of people agree with you, too.

I've been brought up that video game music has no lyrics (with the exception of One-Winged Angel or the Galaxy Final Boss Themes, which just use a choir for dramatic effect), and that "actual" music has lyrics. I don't care if Still Alive and The Poet and the Muse were made FOR video games, they have lyrics nonetheless, and I will never consider them video game musics.

Then again, I guess we can agree to disagree.

Also, what video game was Space Oddity used in? I've been playing it a ton on RB3 and I'd love to know. THIS IS GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOOOOOM~
