beefman
I think it's a fine rule to need 150 posts to host a contest, but I sometimes see members with, say, 50 posts host very nice contests, with rules, good prizes, etc, even though it is illegal. I know how having 150 posts can make yourself mature on YCM, but some members are mature without that number of posts. I believe that it should not matter how many posts someone has, but the quality of their contest should, and can only be called illegal if it does not contain the necessary fundamentals of a contest. When I reach 7 supporters I will tell a mod/admin my idea, if they miss this thread. War Chess
I support. You need to be mature, but as long as you know the rules, you can host a contest.
.Ash
People who are mature would wait until they have 150 posts, then make the contest. Y'know, because they'd have read the rules. No support.
beefman
I'm sure it doesn't take just a number to show someone is mature, because, to be honest, some people that have more than 150 posts aren't.

[/quote] That really isn't the point. The rules are set, it's a good way of filtering out the newbie's who hold ridiculous contests, and those who really want to hold a contest should read the rules and wait. Besides, if you'd have read the reason why the 150 post rule was enforced, it was because the majority of new members won't stick around long enough to complete their contest's. It really only depends on the host themselves, and there can literally be thousands of reasons they cannot keep up their contests.

.Ash
I'm not defending anyone. I simply stated the reason why the original rule was set in the first place. What I stated about higher level members leaving their contests would apply to lower level members too, after all people do have lives outside this site. The ideal situation would be that every contest runs through fine, everyone enjoys it and that they are actually finished. Unfortunately, it isn't always possible, regardless of what level the member is.
Legend Zero
The post limit came into YCM law is because there originally wasn't. A rule added by the members is highly unlikely to be taken down. No support.
-Griffin
I'm going to say no. I agree that posts ≠maturity, but it does phase out quite a few worthless contests. If there was a more perfect maturity measure that appeared on people's profile, that'd be far better, but as there isn't, I believe the current rule should stay. Smesh
I'm more on the no side, but I do somewhat support. If an actual well made contest is made by a member with low post count, I think if they PM'd Icy or a Super, they should be able to carry on their contest. The CC rules need some updating, no one saw Huntar's post until I mentioned it. Plus some updating can't hurt.
