Thought I'd take a stab at a Yugioh fanfic this time, seeing how averagely I'm doing with my other one. See my siggy if you wanna take a gander at that/leave some feedback/criticism. But anyway, time for some Yugimonz. This takes place after the time Jaden graduates at the Duel Academy; but even though it does, there'll be still some characters from the GX seasons that'll be on here. Mainly Brier and Beauregard. And Crowler. And Chancellor Sheppard. And anyone else I decide to throw in.

I'll also be adding characters that I myself have contributed towards Yu-gi-oh GX: The Next Generation, made by TheDeadMichael. But before you try to bítch about me "trying to steal characters" though, let me just say this: I'M the one that came up with them in the first place, so I should have the right to use them.

Anyway, enough of that. Let's kick things off with the first chapter.
“Mom, I don’t have the time!” Leroy Tracer shouted as he rushed to his Duel Runner as an attempt to get on the road as soon as possible. After frisking both pockets of his black leather rompers for his wallet and deck of Yu-gi-oh cards, Leroy tossed a blazer over his bare back, chest and shoulders. He then put on a pair of fingerless gloves before resting his helmet on his blood red haired head and firing up the Duel Runner.

“You sure you don’t want anything for breakfast?” Leroy’s mother asked, whilst preparing an omelet and a couple slices of toast.
“I’ll eat when I’m done, Mom,” Leroy replied, tightening the strap of his helmet and zipping up his blazer. He then flipped back the stand with his foot and slowly accelerated outside the garage door, remembering to look for traffic.
“Alright, you be careful out there,” his mother called.

Leroy had no intention of driving slowly. He already got on the freeway in a matter of only 15 minutes, whereas normally it would take 20-25 minutes if one were to stick to the speed limit. He then opened his Duel Runner right up as he got on the freeway, only slowing down when it was required of him to change lanes and turn the corners.

It wasn’t often that one saw a Duel Runner on the road. In truth, Duel Runners were only recently deemed safe to use as long as care was taken while riding one. It was one thing to place the dueling mechanisms on the motorcycles in the first place, but it was a completely different matter to ensure one could operate the system while keeping an eye on the road. Another problem was that there was no such thing as autopilot at this time. Luckily, Duel Runners had the ability to switch between manual and automatic transmission, making it easier to turn away from obstacles while dueling on them.

If there were any more problems with dueling on these Duel Runners now, it would be the speed that one was driving at while dueling. For example, Leroy’s Duel Runner was a Ducati Monster 696, a motorcycle that could easily reach high speeds. In fact, it was still going very fast when Leroy passed a policewoman. Hopping on a Duel Runner of her own, the policewoman turned on her siren, which Leroy saw just out of the corner of his eye. Frustrated, Leroy pulled over, followed by the policewoman.

“Do you have any idea how fast you were going, sir?” the policewoman asked. Leroy didn’t answer, but instead looked at the heads-up display, to see that the time was 8:35am. He rolled his eyes, expecting this stop to go on for an eternity.
“125 miles an hour in a 80 mile zone…” the policewoman noted, writing something on her clipboard, “The hell kind of rush are you in?”

“I’m late for an exam,” Leroy admitted, “I was supposed to be there like, 5 minutes ago I think. Not entirely sure.” He sighed, knowing that he’d get ticketed for breaking the speed limit. The only thing he didn’t know was how long this ticket was going to take to write, and how much it would cost him.
“It’s not worth your life, son,” The policewoman warned, handing over the speed ticket to an unhappy Leroy, “Now drive safely this time.”

Finally reaching a parking lot that was as close as possible to his true destination, Leroy got off his Duel Runner, and wheeled it in between a Land Rover LR3 and a Cadillac Escalade EXT, setting the alarm before leaving the parking lot. He then ran for another two blocks before reaching the building. Leroy was unaware of the time he got there, but before he shut off his Duel Runner, he definitely saw that the time was 8:54am.

Leroy arrived just in time… to see a lone figure exiting the building, who he seemed to recognize. The figure was about to close the door when Leroy approached him.
“Hey, Chancellor Sheppard,” Leroy greeted, “I didn’t just miss the second exam, did I?”
The Chancellor had a concerned look on his face. Leroy didn’t look too hopeful either, but at he managed a smile before his greeting.
“I’m afraid so,” Chancellor Sheppard answered, “That only leaves your practical exam. Sorry Leroy, but I’m not liking your chances of getting any higher than Slifer Red, unless… you don’t happen to own a Duel Runner, do you, Leroy?”

“Actually I do,” Leroy answered confidently, “I just parked it a couple blocks away.” This allowed Chancellor Sheppard to bear some good news.
“Excellent,” exclaimed the Chancellor, “If you can bring it here by 10 o’clock, I can arrange a Turbo Duel for you. I recommend you start practicing.”

Now that Leroy finally had a chance to shine, he immediately fetched his Duel Runner, driving it to the Turbo Arena. He started by doing a few laps around the circuit, followed by getting used to the dueling mechanism. Leroy started by examining the dashboard. There was a large hole that was big to insert a whole deck of 40 cards inside. Below this were four slots, marked Hand, Extra Deck, Graveyard and Removed from Play. There was also a fifth slot above that was marked Speed World Only.

Leroy stopped to insert his deck of cards, immediately resulting in a piece of metal closing this hole and leaving only a gap approximately the same size as the slots below. A platform had also extended in front of the handlebars and was raised slightly. This platform had 5 plus-shaped grooves that were large enough to fits cards exactly, either in horizontal or vertical position. It also had 5 slots on the inward edge of the platform.

The heads up display changed completely, sending the information it usually displayed one corner of the screen, and displaying the word “Scanning…” About 10 seconds later, it then displayed the words “Opponent not detected. Speed World Field Spell not detected. Enter Practice Mode? Yes. No.” Making sure to keep straight with his right hand, Leroy reached for the word “Yes” with the other.

Meanwhile, Chancellor Sheppard was conversing with another man, presumably one of the teachers at the Duel Academy. He was taller than the Chancellor, and appeared physically stronger as well. The clothes he wore were much more casual than the uniforms of the other teachers; he wore only a basic T-shirt and jeans, with a vest over his T-shirt and a ten gallon cowboy hat resting on his head.

“So… you want me to set up a Turbo Duel for this kid, huh?” the man asked the Chancellor, half-expecting the answer to be yes.
“Of course,” replied Chancellor Sheppard, “He’s very eager to prove that he has the ability to make it Ra Yellow, or even Obelisk Blue, and well… considering he’s missed both written exams, a Turbo Duel would be his best option.”

“And letting me use my own deck will only further improve his chances,” the man added, “But I’m afraid I can’t go easy on him.” Surprisingly, the Chancellor didn’t seem too concerned about this last statement at all.
“I wasn’t counting on you to, Terrance,” the Chancellor stated, “All I was asking of you was to give Master Tracer a chance to show his skills.”

“Alright then,” the man named Terrance held out his hand, “It’s a done deal.” The two men shook hands, the Chancellor beaming from excitement until he glanced at his watch.
“By golly, time sure goes fast,” Chancellor Sheppard said in a tone of astonishment, “We best get prepared, the practical exams are almost finished. You get Leroy ready for the Turbo Duel while I round up the other students.”

Leroy was still practicing for the moment of his lifetime until he heard an alarm from his Duel Runner, indicating that it was low on fuel. Leroy remembered passing a gas station on his way to the facility and was about to head there when Terrance showed up in his own Duel Runner, a Kawasaki Ninja ZX-14.

“You must be Leroy Tracer, are you not?” Terrance asked immediately, receiving “Yeah” for an answer, “Terrance Ruben, I’ll be proctoring your Turbo Duel this morning.” Leroy then turn to look at his fuel indicator, which showed it had 23.52% fuel left.
“Um, about that Turbo Duel…” Leroy stated nervously, “I’m low on fuel at the moment. This thing’s telling me I’ve only got about quarter of a tank left.”
Did Leroy have any time to top up his Duel Runner’s tank? Would he be forced to risk being disqualified for running out of fuel? Find out on Chapter 2.

Again, feedback and CONSTRUCTIVE criticism will be appreciated.

BLATANT CLASSISM

id est, a D-Wheeler is necessary to place high in a practical examination. I mean, is Duel Academia a private school or what? And are D-Wheelers necessary to get in at all? Also, what kind of school will let a student in while only taking one of three entrance exams? I can't wrap my head around school policy there.

Fixed.

Anyway, do you realize how piss easy Yusei makes it look in 5D's? As does Jack, Crow, Sherry, Trudge and everyone else who plays card games on motorcycles? Surely it would make sense to give higher marks for having a turbo duel for a practical exam... instead of a normal duel like you would presume everybody else. As for Duel Runners being necessary to get in, not entirely, but how else was the main character supposed to get to the facility... on his own, if I must add?

I've heard of the principal of a school keep a student in after said student trashed the school. It was on the news like, ages ago. Point is, this is what I've tried to reflect here, the whole idea of giving someone a second chance.

Moving on, this is the 2nd Chapter, featuring... a duel! A turbo duel to be more exact, following video game format (You know, when the players actually get speed counters on the first turn). Anyway, on with the duel.
Leroy Tracer rushed to get his Duel Runner on the road, refusing to eat breakfast as he told his mother that he didn’t have the time. He was already late for the first written exam when a policewoman pulled him over for speeding, and narrowly missed the second as he finally reached the facility. However, in order to keep his dreams for entering in Ra Yellow or even Obelisk Blue alive, Chancellor Sheppard offered Leroy a chance to participate in a Turbo Duel as his practical exam, arranging Terrance Ruben to proctor the duel. Terrance introduced himself to Leroy, only to hear that his Duel Runner was running low on fuel. Did Leroy have any time left to top up?

“Good thing I brought this,” Terrance noted, reaching for a canister of gasoline from the back of his Duel Runner, “We can’t afford to rely on that gas station.” Leroy popped the fuel cap and, after receiving the canister from Terrance, slowly poured the gasoline.
“Why, are we starting now?” Leroy asked as he did so.

“Not yet,” answered Terrance, “But by the time we get there and back, we would’ve been well and truly late. Right now, we need all the time we have to prepare.” While finishing this sentence, Terrance fished his pocket for 2 Speed World 3 cards. He inserted one into his Duel Runner, and gave the other to Leroy when he was finished filling his tank. “You’ll need this too,” added Terrance, “It’s the latest Speed World card.”

Leroy inserted the Speed World 3 card into the Speed World Only slot, without taking so much as a glance of its effect. He then checked his deck to make sure he was happy with the cards inside. “Alright, I’m ready,” he said in acknowledgment. The two duelists then turned to the garage, where they’d be waiting for their cue to initiate the Turbo Duel.

10:00am on the dot. Students from the Duel Academy flooded the Turbo Arena with their various colored jackets of Slifer Red, Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue. Some of these students have just recently been accepted for their first year. Others were in their second, third or fourth years in the Academy, and there were even a few students in their fifth year. Two of such students, Brier and Beauregard, happened to be sitting way at the back, wearing the Obelisk Blue uniforms that they recently received upon being promoted. Chancellor Sheppard emerged at the center of the arena.

“Ladies and gentleman,” the Chancellor started his speech, “We have a special treat for you all this morning. Our final practical exam of the day will be a Turbo Duel, taking place right here in this facility, between Leroy Tracer and our Duel Runner teacher, Terrance Ruben. Let’s give them a round of applause.”

Terrance and Leroy positioned their Duel Runners on opposing sides of the starting line. Bearing a green flag, Chancellor Sheppard walked across the circuit, approaching the participants as the two prepared for the big event. Meanwhile, the students were talking amongst themselves, some complementing on how cool the whole idea of having a Turbo Duel was, whilst others were asking their peers how well they thought Leroy would perform against Terrance. Obviously, Brier and Beauregard were no different, however they did pretty much agree that Terrance would still win the duel.

“On your marks!” After this exclamation from the Chancellor, Terrance and Leroy had already finished their final preparations, and were now revving their Duel Runners’ engines. “Get set, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand GO!” The Chancellor waved down the green flag, and as he did so, Leroy already took the lead, whilst Terrance had to perform a U-turn. At this point, Leroy spoke into the inbuilt mic inside the helmet, so everyone could hear what moves he was making. “This first turn’s mine. DRAW!”

Leroy's SPC: 0 --> 1; Terrance's SPC: 0 --> 1

Leroy observed the first card he drew, The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife. This Level 12 Gemini monster was too strong to summon straight away, so Leroy inserted it into the Hand Slot. Immediately, the heads-up display showed six cards, with The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife at the far right of the screen. Leroy reached for the two center cards, and then pressed the ‘Eject’ buttons on each pop-up menu that appeared. Two cards ejected from the Hand Slot; a Monster Card and a Trap Card.

“I place 1 card face-down, and then summon Dark Valkyria in Attack Mode!” Leroy placed the Trap Card inside the center slot of the platform, the underside opening up in order to expose a button, before placing the Monster Card face-up, in the vertical Attack Position, in the zone above the Trap Card. Metal pieces of what looked like scaffolding ejected outwards to keep the card in place.

Two hologram projectors emerged from the Duel Runner. One showed a hologram of the back of a card, whilst the other a more vibrant image: a female humanoid with lavender skin and gray wings with red jewels lined across the top. The being also donned a blue and gray dress, with a blue and gray headdress, gray shoulder pads and gray gloves. These also had assorted colored jewels within them.

(Fairy-Type/DARK/Level 4/1800 ATK/1050 DEF)

“Your move,” Leroy called, making sure to press a button on the dashboard, yet that was situated below the dueling platform, to signify the end of his turn.
‘Hmm, looks like we have the generic start here,’ Terrance pondered, ‘Beatstick in Attack Mode, 1 face-down.’ He then looked at his hand, before reaching an epiphany in his mind. ‘Aha, but is he prepared for this?’

Leroy's SPC: 1 --> 2; Terrance's SPC: 1 --> 2

“I’ll start by activating the Speed Spell – Worm Call,” Terrance announced, “Like the standard Worm Call, this card allows me to Special Summon any of my Reptile-Type Worm monsters in face-down Defense Position, except I cannot summon Worms whose levels are higher than the amount of Speed Counters I have.”

“So basically, it’s a gimped version of Worm Call?” Leroy asked, causing Terrance to sigh. Terrance was wondering that, because of Leroy’s naiveté, he even knew what a Speed Counter was, let alone that they were required to operate the Speed Spells that would function with Speed World 3, or in fact any of the Speed World cards.
“You have a lot to learn kid,” was Terrance’s only answer, “I Special Summon a Reptile-Type Worm monster through the effect of the Speed Spell – Worm Call, and then sacrifice that monster to summon Worm Warlord in Attack Position.”

A metallic liquid oozed through the Speed Spell – Worm Call card that was projected earlier. However, it vanished just as quickly as it appeared, yet in its place was a completely different monstrosity. Its lips were at the center of its red body, on a diagonal, and its two eyes were on either side. Two legs were sprouted outwards from the sides. One arm formed in between these legs and another from the top of its body, both of which were pointing in Leroy’s direction.

(Reptile-Type/LIGHT/Level 6/2350 ATK/1800 DEF)

“The monster I sacrificed was Worm Ugly,” Terrance lectured on, “So now it appears on your side of the field in Attack Position. I think I’ll settle it next to your Dark Valkyria.” To Dark Valkyria’s left side was a blue sphere of what looked like brain matter. It had green spots in places, and it had two eyes and a mouth that opened up vertically. Dark Valkyria shrieked at the sight of the thing, whereas Leroy looked in disgust.

(Reptile-Type/LIGHT/Level 1/100 ATK/100 DEF)

‘Great…’ Leroy thought to himself, ‘Somehow I don’t think I’m gonna get out of this… at least not without taking a huge hit to my Life Points.’ All he could do now was to keep his finger hovering above the Trap Card he placed on his first turn, waiting for Terrance to give his Worm Warlord the order to attack.
Could Leroy survive Worm Warlord’s assault? Was there anyway that he could strike back, and deal a decisive blow to Terrance’s Life Points? Find out on Chapter 3.

These chapters are really, really short. Srsly. Seikiden's tiny prologue (*cough*reviewit*cough*) is longer than these. One turn per chapter could get tedious to read, quick. They're readable, though, which puts them above a lot of stuff this forum churns out.

I also adore your handling of the gas tank. It's pretty funny, though it could get old if you try and keep using that for all these miniscule chapters.

Interesting how you actually seem to have a knowledge of game balance. I'll keep following these tiny, tiny, clever installments.

With all due respect,

Yeah... figured that. I designed them to take up exactly 3 pages a piece in Word. Actually that includes a chapter recap, which takes about [sup]1[/sup]/[sub]4[/sub] of the page, so really the 2nd was approx 2[sup]3[/sup]/[sub]4[/sub] pages long. I MIGHT be ambitious enough to make the next ones about 5 pages long.

Well, to be fair, I haven't used any custom cards yet, unless you count Speed Spell - *insert name of Spell Card that doesn't actually have a Speed Spell form here*, and I only mentioned that Leroy has the Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife in his hand. I actually made this card for a Card Contest, so I can fish it out for you if you need any details on it. Actually I'll do that now.

EDIT: This is it here. It MIGHT be classifiable as OP'ed but I've definitely seen more broken cards... in fanfics. And no I didn't make the image myself, I found in Bhudda's old archive.
This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect:
- You must Tribute 2 other monsters you control. If you cannot, this card is treated as if it has not gained its effect. If a monster you control or that you have Summoned would be affected by a card effect, you can negate that effect and destroy the card. Only once, if an Effect Monster is destroyed by this effect, you can increase this card's ATK and DEF by the original ATK and DEF of the destroyed monster. If another monster you control whose ATK and DEF are lower than this card's ATK and DEF is destroyed by battle, you can reduce this card's ATK and DEF by the original ATK and DEF of the destroyed monster during your opponent's Main Phase 2 to Special Summon it in face-down Defense Position.
Finally finished Chapter 3. This chapter will attempt to round up Leroy's and Terrance's duel all in one shot, and comes equipped with a couple more pages (in Word).
After topping up his tank, Leroy was given the latest of all Speed World cards: Speed World 3. Without taking so much as a glance, he inserted it in the Speed World Only Slot before he and Terrance turned to the garage. The rest of the students gathered around the Turbo Arena, waiting for the Turbo Duel to start. Leroy had the first turn, opening with a generic move of summoning Dark Valkyria in Attack Position, followed by placing one card facedown. Terrance, on the other hand used the Speed Spell – Worm Call to Special Summon Worm Ugly, before sacrificing it to summon Worm Warlord in Attack Position. Leroy was already expecting to take a big hit, but could he return the favor?

“Worm Warlord,” commanded Terrance, “Destroy the Worm Ugly on my opponent’s side of the field.” Worm Warlord thrusted its body forwards with its legs, rolling towards Worm Ugly with great speed. Worm Ugly was flattened as a result before vanishing piece by piece, its projector retracting back to its place. But because Worm Warlord could attack a second time after destroying a monster, Terrance wasn’t done just yet.

Leroy's LP: 8000 --> 5750; Leroy's SPC: 2 --> 0

“Now focus your attention on Dark Valkyria,” Terrance called, Worm Warlord pivoting its body so it could turn round. Dark Valkyria was about to meet the same fate, but Leroy saw the attack and pressed the underside button for his Trap Card, just in time.
“Oh, no you don’t!” Leroy shouted, “Gemini Booster, activate!”
A red device rose from the ground, wires latching themselves onto Dark Valkyria’s back. Four prongs had extended from this device, two from the sides and two on top, all gathering electricity to surge through her body.

Dark Valkyria's ATK: 1800 --> 2500

Worm Warlord, too busy lining itself up so it could hit Dark Valkyria square in the back, didn’t see the Gemini Booster in its path. The monster was sent flying, but not before it hit the two prongs on top of the device. Hearing an ensuing roar of pain, Dark Valkyria frantically looked behind her, and swooped out of the way of the incoming Worm Warlord. This monster now lay flat on his back disintegrating into small pieces.

Terrance's LP: 8000 --> 7850

“OK, that wasn’t what I was hoping for,” said Terrance, knowing full well that he was wide open for a direct attack, “I can’t do anymore, end turn.” This gave Leroy the green light to draw his next card, which he was happy to see. Double-checking his field, he decided against inserting this card into the Hand Slot, instead double-tapping on Dark Valkyria’s card. The scaffolding-esque metal pieces retracted from around the card.

Leroy's SPC: 0 --> 1; Terrance's SPC: 2 --> 3

“I sacrifice Dark Valkyria to summon Chthonian Emperor Dragon in Attack Mode!” Leroy called, picking up the card and inserting it into the Graveyard Slot, before placing the card he drew in its place. Leroy also took Gemini Booster from its slot and placed it in the Graveyard Slot alongside it. A dark green serpent-esque dragon, with a metallic gray head, back and segments arose into the field, pushing Dark Valkyria aside and landing on the wires from the Gemini Booster, which coincidently blew up behind it. The resulting shockwave seemed only to piss it off.

(Dragon-Type/FIRE/Level 6/2400 ATK/1500 DEF)

The other students were talking amongst themselves, wondering why Leroy would make such a move as sacrificing one monster for a slightly weaker one.
“Yeah, yeah, I hear you all,” Leroy interjected, speaking through the mic loudly enough for everyone else to hear, “You see, Gemini Booster gets destroyed when I sacrifice the equipped monster, and through that, the summoned monster gets its effect. Now we have a powerhouse here that can attack twice per turn.” Leroy turned to Terrance’s field. Nothing was there to stop the mighty dragon from barreling through Terrance’s Life Points, not even a facedown card.

“Chthonian Emperor Dragon, attack my opponent’s Life Points directly!” Upon Leroy’s orders, Chthonian Emperor Dragon unleashed a fireball at Terrance’s Duel Runner. It connected, causing an explosion and leaving a wake of flames behind it. Like the monsters themselves, their attacks were holographically projected, so Terrance wasn’t hurt by the blast. In fact, he was brushing off the flames like they were nothing.

Terrance's LP: 7850 --> 5450; Terrance's SPC: 3 --> 1

“Now attack again!” Leroy mercilessly yelled, Chthonian Emperor Dragon firing a second fireball. The audience watched in awe as Leroy wiped out well over half of Terrance’s Life Points in a single turn. Even Brier and Beauregard started to admit the Leroy was pretty good after all.

Terrance's LP: 5450 --> 3050; Terrance's SPC: 1 --> 0

Glancing at the field in Terrance’s shoes, one would automatically throw in the towel and surrender, assuming that they’d be screwed no matter what they did. But Terrance kept his cool, already believing he found his way back in the game. Allowing Leroy to end his turn and remembering to draw his card, Terrance made his move.

Standby Phase: Leroy's SPC: 1 --> 2

“I summon Worm Xex in Attack Position.” A monster in the shape of an X appeared on Terrance’s side of the field. Its mouth was at the very top of its body, and it was ensnared with green goo. Stats-wise, this monster was no match for Chthonian Emperor Dragon, but that’s not why Terrance summoned it to the field.

(Reptile-Type/LIGHT/Level 4/1800 ATK/1000 DEF)

“Now that I’ve summoned it, I can send 1 Reptile-type Worm monster from my Deck to my Graveyard, and I choose Worm Yagan. And since Worm Xex is the only monster I control, I can Special Summon Worm Yagan from the Graveyard in face-down Defense Position.” A picture of a facedown card appeared next to Worm Xex, just like Leroy’s Gemini Booster, except it was placed horizontally instead of vertically. Terrance ended his turn at that, Leroy eager to bypass his defenses.

Leroy's SPC: 2 --> 3; Terrance's SPC: 0 --> 1

“I summon Future Samurai in Attack Mode.” Leroy placed the monster card to the left of the Chthonian Emperor Dragon card. A brunette woman appeared, with a blue dress covering a metal suit of armor. She had bizarre-looking blue glasses, and wielded a sword. Leroy was hoping she’d finish the duel the next turn.

(Warrior-Type/LIGHT/Level 4/1600 ATK/1200 DEF)

“Chthonian Emperor Dragon, press the attack! Blow that Worm Xex to smithereens!” Chthonian Emperor Dragon engulfed Worm Xex in a sphere of inferno, burning it alive as pieces of its body vanished into nothing.
“Now attack the face-down Worm Yagan!” shouted Leroy.

Terrance's LP: 3050 --> 2450

Worm Yagan revealed itself. It had a yellow body, with two red segments that appeared on either side, and brown patches on each end of these segments. Purple feelers sprouted from the ends. Its eyes were within the brown patches and its mouth was at the very top of the main body, which was also covered in green goo.

(Reptile-Type/LIGHT/Level 4/1000 ATK/1800 DEF)

Chthonian Emperor Dragon launched what was going to be its final fireball straight at Worm Yagan’s body. However, it reflected the attack back at the dragon, the blast forcing it away from the arena. Worm Yagan was still caught ablaze, its body melting into the ground as it was eventually destroyed. Leroy thought he’d watch the monster die before inserting Chthonian Emperor Dragon back into the Hand Slot.
“Future Samurai, direct attack!” Leroy called as the being slashed Terrance in the chest.

Terrance's LP: 2450 --> 850; Terrance's SPC: 1 --> 0

“Well, I commend you for getting this far kid, but this is where it ends,” Terrance stated as Leroy ended his turn, “I summon Worm Dimikles in Attack Position!” This monster looked similar to a purple gecko, but it had six tails, and an additional two eyes at the center of its forehead. The end of each tail had the shape and sharpness of an arrowhead.

(Reptile-Type/LIGHT/Level 4/1700 ATK/1400 DEF)

“Worm Dimikles, attack Future Samurai and send it to the Graveyard.” Worm Dimikles thrusted its tails at Future Samurai. Future Samurai managed to dodge the majority of them, but as she performed a back flip, Worm Dimikles lunged onto her back, impaling her skull with all six tails. She fell to her knees, her body disintegrating into nothing.

Leroy's LP: 5750 --> 5650

Leroy drew his next card, Blazewing Butterfly. At first, he thought nothing of it, but then he remembered that he had Unleash Your Power! all this time, and thus figured a way to win the duel once for all. All he would’ve needed to do was to summon Blazewing Butterfly, activate Unleash Your Power!, sacrifice it to revive Future Samurai and have her gain her effect, destroy Worm Dimikles with that effect and attack for game.

Leroy's SPC: 4 --> 5; Terrance's SPC: 1 --> 2

“I summon Blazewing Butterfly in Attack Mode!” A butterfly with its wing on fire appeared in front of Leroy’s side of the field. It hovered on ahead, staring down Worm Dimikles. This was Phase 1 of Leroy’s big plan. Next was to activate the Spell Card that was within Leroy’s hand since the very beginning of the duel.

(Insect-Type/FIRE/Level 4/1500 ATK/1500 DEF)

“I then activate Unleash Your Power!” Leroy called ecstatically, but as he tried to play this card, his Duel Runner gave off an electric shock, causing him to curse in pain, and the other students to wonder what happened. Leroy, also wondering what happened, looked frantically across the field to see if any cards would’ve been responsible.

Leroy's LP: 5650 --> 3650; Leroy's SPC: 5 --> 3

“I told you that you had a lot to learn!” Terrance called back to Leroy, “Speed Spells are the only Spell Cards that’ll work with Speed World 3. Anything else will just get negated and destroyed, whilst you take 2000 Life Points.” Frustrated by this, Leroy waved off his turn, allowing Terrance to make his. The next card Terrance drew was Worm Queen. Despite it being a Level 8 monster, Terrance only needed to sacrifice 1 monster to get it out in the open, as long as that monster was a Reptile-Type Worm monster.

Leroy's SPC: 3 --> 4; Terrance's SPC: 2 --> 3

“My turn now, I sacrifice Worm Dimikles to summon Worm Queen in Attack Position.” This monster had six legs and four arms, one of which was holding what appeared to be a baby Worm Dimikles. It stared emotionlessly at Blazewing Butterfly, with the hands of its two lower arms clasped together.

(Reptile-Type/LIGHT/Level 8/2700 ATK/1100 DEF)

“Worm Queen, destroy Blazewing Butterfly.” Worm Queen hurled the baby Worm Dimikles at the Blazewing Butterfly. As it struggled to get it off, Worm Queen slapped it across the cheek, and then stomped on it as it fell to the ground. The baby Worm Dimikles returned to Worm Queen’s side as she left the bug to disintegrate into pieces.

Leroy's LP: 3650 --> 2450; Leroy's SPC: 4 --> 3

All Leroy did for his next turn was place a monster in facedown Defense Position. This lead to an easy defeat, as Terrance summoned Worm Rakuyeh in Attack Position, sacrifice it to Special Summon Worm Tentacles from the Deck in Attack Position through the effect of Worm Queen, destroy the facedown with Worm Tentacles and attack for game with Worm Queen, ending the duel once and for all.

Leroy's LP: 2450 --> 0

“Damn it!” Leroy cursed as he pounded his fist on the dashboard of his Duel Runner, “I was so close… if only that Spell Card would work…” Terrance could see the frustration in Leroy’s eyes, having received defeat from the jaws of victory.
“You do realize that this isn’t a matter about win or loss, don’t you?” Terrance asked, in an attempt to lessen Leroy’s frustration.
“Yeah, kinda…” Leroy admitted, sighing slightly.

“Here, this should give you a little morale boost,” Terrance handed Leroy an official Obelisk Blue uniform, the latter lost for words.
“Normally, I’d at least check to make sure you were previously enrolled in a high-end prep school first, but I’m sure the Chancellor won’t mind if we make an exception. You’ve earned it kid.” Terrance ended by patting Leroy on the back.
Leroy never did do so well in any form of school, barely passing grade tests and whatnot, but seeing the Obelisk Blue jacket made Leroy forget about all the troubles of the past.
“OBELISK BLUE, EVERYBODY!!” Leroy triumphantly yelled, the other students cheering loudly in applause. Everyone was happy to see Leroy make it to Obelisk Blue.
Was Leroy able to put his old school life behind him as he entered the Duel Academy? Would he get in trouble at some stage and risk expulsion? Find out of Chapter 4.

Oh, and in case you're wondering on why only Leroy's SPC went up that one time, I'll place Speed World 3 here as well.
If you activate the effect of a non-"Speed Spell" Spell Card, that effect is negated and the card is destroyed, and you take 2000 damage. During each player's Standby Phase, place 1 Speed Counter on this card (max. 12). When you receive at least 1000 damage, remove Speed Counters from this card for each multiple of 1000 damage taken. If you cannot, remove all Speed Counters from this card, and you cannot receive Speed Counters for a number of Standby Phases equal to the difference between the damage you took divided by 1000 and the number of Speed Counters you removed by this effect. You can remove any number of Speed Counters from this card to activate an appropriate effect:
- 2: Discard your entire hand. Inflict 800 damage to your opponent for each "Speed Spell" Spell Card discarded by this effect.
- 4: Remove the top card from your Deck from play face-down. That card is added to your hand during the End Phase.
- 7: Destroy 1 card on the field, and send all copies of the destroyed card from its owner's hand, Deck or field to the Graveyard.
- 12: All monsters you control can attack your opponent's Life Points directly this turn. You gain Life Points equal to the Battle Damage that each monster inflicted to your opponent's Life Points this turn.
Is that Nanoha on a card
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

Also, THANK YOU for having the proctor win. This already seems worlds more realistic than any other Duel Academy fic I've ever read, and the quality of writing matches it. The Duel was straight out of the anime, and YOU MADE THE PROCTOR WIN, which was very, very intelligent and doubled mine already high impression of the story.

Here's a rubric grade, so you don't get too happy:
Conventions: A
It doesn't get in the way of reading, so it's plenty good enough. Finally, someone who actually proofreads.
Characters: C
This is where the story falls short. I don't feel too much empathy for anyone, and everyone seems pretty bland thus far. It all feels very generic.
Plot: B
Duel Academia done right -- the duel consistent -- the awesome teacher actually being (by anime standards) awesome -- HELLZ YEAH.
Effort: B
You're obviously not being lazy, what with the consistent Duel and good conventions.
Readability: C
It's not very exciting, and the writing style isn't exactly captivating. But the descriptions are well-done and well-implemented, so you still get a high C.

Score: 70% -- B
Comments: I may have only come up with this amateur-writer rubric two days ago, but that doesn't change the fact that this is the highest grade I've given with it. And it beat the next highest score by thirty percent. I had my doubts in the beginning, but you've pulled this off well.

You do know that a 70% is a C, not a B, right?

I'd say your only mistake from a duel-plotting standpoint was brushing off the last turn, since it amounted to, "he set a monster and then the other guy won".

Oh yeah, and Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife only needs 2 Tributes. So yes, it is OP'd. Just give it a "You must Tribute 3 monsters to Tribute Summon this card" or something like that.
EDIT: I'm assuming you at least meant for it to be summoned with 3 tributes.

The rubric was designed for YCM. You have to get below twenty percent to fail.

And yeah, re-reading it, the last turn should have been done like the rest of them. Then you can emphasize the SHOCK AND HORROR when Leroy loses (which is, incidentally, his most telling characteristic thus far -- not a great sign IMO).

Actually, I was meaning that you would need 2 Tributes so then it gains its effect, along with the two you need to actually summon it from the hand to the field. Unfortunately, that's the only way you can really word a Gemini Monster's effect OCG-wise.

EDIT: Oh, and I actually had no intention of waving off the final turn like I did... at all. The problem was that I was getting tired, due to the time being midnight where I am atm, and my mind drew a complete blank. This is why I usually take breaks every now and then and do something else for a while, so this kind of crap happens as seldom as possible.

Annnnnnnnnd now we present the diabolical event that a children's card game is supposed to be able to stop from happening.
Leroy saved Dark Valkyria via activating Gemini Booster, destroying Worm Warlord and leaving Terrance wide open for a direct attack. Taking advantage of this, he sacrificed Dark Valkyria to summon Chthonian Emperor Dragon in Attack Position, activating its ability to attack twice per Battle Phase along the way. This monster already wiped out well over half of Terrance’s Life Points before he finally gained the upper hand. Future Samurai was the last monster to damage Terrance, and with her gone, and an attempt to revive her backfiring, Terrance dealt the final blow in the end. Yet he still rewarded Leroy with an Obelisk Blue jacket for his effort. Could Leroy put his past behind him?

Vellian Crowler, who was waiting outside, wasn’t so sure, and consulted Terrance just as he was walking outside the arena, wheeling his Duel Runner alongside him.
“What of Brier and Beauregard?!” Crowler queried quickly and furiously, “I already had to put up with this bright idea to promote them in the first place, and now you think you can plant this Tracer kid in my dorm, too?!” Terrance waved the majority of this little speech from Crowler off, but the mentioning of Leroy’s surname got his attention.
“And what if I do?” he asked in a tone that implied that he didn’t care, “It’s not like you can actually do anything until the first seasonal exams get under way.”

“I shouldn’t have to!” Crowler snapped back, “You’re braking the school policy, here!” Pretending that he was unable to hear Crowler, Terrance continued to wheel his Duel Runner out of the facility before driving away in the distance. Crowler was initially still frustrated, but calmed down as he came up with an idea.

Seven days have passed since Leroy’s Turbo Duel with Terrance. The students, all in their uniforms of Slifer Red, Ra Yellow and Obelisk Blue, were queuing to get aboard the cruise liner that, in a matter of hours, would take them to the Duel Academy Island. Once the students got on the cruise liner they were immediately ushered to the main hall, where they’d have dinner, listen to some speeches from the heads of dorms and be sorted into their own individual cabins for the night. Leroy was one of the last students to get on this cruise liner, but before he did so, he glanced back at the old Domino City. At his past.

Turning back to enter the main hall, Leroy entered to see the immense banquet that was prepared for all the students. Taking his seat next to what he saw as the better of the gourmet dishes, not caring exactly who he sat next to, Leroy started by taking a lobster from the nearby plate and tearing into it, followed by ripping off a turkey leg, and stacking his own plate high with other meats and what he saw as goodies.

The other students were also enjoying their feast, when Chancellor Sheppard tapped a nearby glass, getting everyone’s attention. Only at this time, after Leroy stopped eating, did he start to notice who he was sitting next to. To his left was Beauregard, who, if they were both to stand tall, would tower over Leroy. Most guys were taller than Leroy to begin with, but Beauregard took the cake. Leroy also saw Brier next to him.

To Leroy’s right was a shrill girl, directing a cold, blank glare over the distance. She watched the other students like a hawk, waiting to swoop in on her prey; the prey being those who would stare at her breasts or her buttocks. She looked far too aged for a student here at Duel Academy; one could easily assume she was in her late teens or even in her twenties. Her shoulder-length metallic silver hair didn’t make her look any younger.

“Students, if I could get your attention please,” the Chancellor called, the students turning his way, “I hope you enjoyed the banquet we prepared for you this evening, but we must move on. Allow me to introduce some of you first year students to our heads of dorms. Speaking for the Slifer Red dorm is Miss Xiva Vulzah. Next in line will be Mr. Baron Armanos speaking for the Ra Yellow dorm. And last, but not least, Dr. Vellian Crowler, speaking for the Obelisk Blue dorm. Miss Vulzah, if you may now speak words of encouragement to our Slifer Red students…”

Chancellor Sheppard returned to his seat, and in his place stood a woman with brown hair and tanned skin. Her body seemed to only be covered by leaves, which she may have made into a dress. Perhaps she was in touch with nature, or perhaps she was poor to an extent that she couldn’t even afford real clothing. Whatever the cause didn’t matter, for she held her head up high as she addressed the Slifer Red students.

“Some of you here have struggled through the exams this past week, whilst some of you have stumbled upon your big moment.” Xiva said in a dreamy and enchanted voice, as she began her speech, “This academy will teach you everything you need to know, and you will graduate in a matter of time. Some of you may even advance to Ra Yellow or Obelisk Blue before doing so. You all have the potential to excel here.”

As Xiva turned to sit back down, an old man with a tuxedo stepped up to her previous position, leaning the cane he carried with him carefully on the table ahead. His gray hair was matted down, and his beard was trimmed to where it was only visible as whiskers on his face. He looked somewhere in his late forties, but was surprisingly much older.

“Those of you who have joined Ra Yellow from Slifer Red last year have already jumped one hurdle,” Baron called with the energy of some form of youth in his voice, “If you wish to enter Obelisk Blue, you must now jump another. Continue your hard work, ace your next exams, and you shall find yourself in Obelisk Blue in no time. But remember, we’re here to help you if you need it, so don’t be afraid to ask.”

Remembering to collect his cane, Baron proceeded to take his seat. Now only Crowler was left to make a speech. Unlike the other two heads of dorms, who stepped forward, Crowler remained exactly where he was standing. His speech was designed, by him, to get straight to the point. After clearing his through, Crowler began to speak.

“You guys are supposed to be the very best, the cream of the crop!” Crowler paused, his eyes darting across the hall to ensure everyone had his attention before commencing, “You know who you are. But while you’re on my watch, you shall NOT be slacking off! I expect top marks overall, and if I find your marks to be even the slightest shard under my expectations, I will not hesitate to send you to detention. You’ve been warned.”

After the three ended their speeches, the students were directed to their individual cabins to stay in for the night. Most of these students hit the bunks, but Leroy strolled outside and onto the deck, watching the lit up Domino City. The cruise liner was about 50 or so miles out, but Leroy could still see it in the distance, and was watching it fade in the distance. He then turned to view the night sky, watching a shooting star fly past.

Having remained there for 30 minutes, Leroy turned back around and was about to head inside his cabin and call it a night when Crowler confronted him.
“Ah, good, you’re still up,” Crowler spoke sarcastically, “And look how far you’ve come. You missed both written exams, got yourself defeated by the proctor of your practical exam, and did I mention that you didn’t even attend a dueling preparation school? Little wonder I feel that you’re… out of place in this dorm.”

“Out of place?” Leroy spat back, “OUT OF PLACE??!! I’ve worked my ass off to get this far, and you think you can just wave it off into thin air?! I’m not gonna stand for it!” Leroy took the time to catch some breath, waiting for a response from Crowler.
“And what do you think you can do about it?” Crowler asks, Leroy responding by withdrawing his Duel Disk and loading his deck inside.
“There’s only one thing I can do,” Leroy answered with a smirk on his face, “I challenge you, Dr. Vellian Crowler, to a children’s card game! You win; I take of this jacket and trade it for a Slifer Red one. I win; not only do I keep this one, but YOU have to spend the whole of the next day wearing a Sunday dress!”

“As little as I see the relevance in this…” Crowler began after a brief sigh, “…I accept your challenge, but I should warn you: Unlike you, I actually did attend a duel school. As a matter of fact, I have a PhD in Dueling that took nine years to get.” This didn’t seem to faze Leroy in the slightest, as he activated his Duel Disk. “Huh, and think it might all go down the tube,” he stated, maintaining the smirk he had this time.

Meanwhile, what would be nearby if it weren’t for the difference in distance from the Earth’s floor, a satellite was picking up the duel that was about to begin on the cruise liner. It was then feeding this information to a skyscraper in Domino City that was owned by an immense corporation known as KaibaCorp.

Seto Kaiba, the CEO of KaibaCorp, was pacing back and forth within one of the floors of this skyscraper when he heard a series of beeps. Correctly assuming their source to be a nearby computer, Kaiba took a seat and observed the screen, seeing show the words:
“DUEL DETECTED: CORDINATES AT…” with numbers gradually increasing and decreasing, presumably to identify that the exact location of the duel was constantly moving on the planet’s surface. It later pinpointed the location to be in the sea.

“Great, just great,” Kaiba said in a sarcastic tone, “First they successfully introduce card games on motorcycles and now they’re trying to come up with card games on jet skis?” After zeroing in on the location, it turned out just to be a standard duel on a cruise liner. “Thank god for that,” mentioned Kaiba to himself, before turning on the television.

“We interrupt this program for a special news bulletin,” a voice from the TV was heard, just as Kaiba turned it on, “Monsters have swarmed into Domino City, maiming many civilians and destroying buildings. We go to Onenji Briburo for more information.”
The scene on the TV switched to a man reporting on the damaged Domino city, with what appeared to be dinosaurs running around behind him.

“Alright, what we have here is Domino City being slowly destroyed by dinosaurs!” the man named Onenji Briburo reported quickly, yet slowly enough to be heard by those that had the TV on at the time, “I’ll give you a few seconds to digest that. No seriously, we ARE getting attacked by dinosaurs here! So far, they’re targeting the poorer sections of the city, but at the rate they’re going, this whole city will be flattened in a matter of minutes, with damage tolls rising to the billions! Not mention that we lost 1,903 civilians so far! I’m gonna have end there cause one of these dinosaurs has FOUND US!!”

Seeing something that caught his eye, Kaiba paused the TV where it was, and then reached for one of his briefcases that held a series of Duel Monsters cards. He then fished out Jurrac Giganoto from this briefcase, and compared it to the blue-bodied Allosaurus-esque dinosaur that remained stationary within the TV. It was a match, from the yellow hands, feet, head and tail to the flames on its tail and head.

At this stage, back at the ravaged Domino City, the real life Jurrac Giganoto pursued Onenji Briburo’s crew. This monster killed the crew one by one, devouring their flesh before turning back to its master, an even larger dinosaur that was easily comparable in shape and size to Godzilla. It was known as the Earthbound Immortal, Vastatio. Like the other Earthbound Immortals of ages past, this monster was black in color with Nazca Lines all over its body, except these lines appeared white in color, and glowed brightly enough to blind anything that was within a few inches of the monster itself.

“I’m sorry boss, but I’m afraid I bear bad news,” Giganoto called, “The humans know of our attack. Their infernal machines have been watching us this whole time.”
Vastatio paid little attention, instead viewing the destruction its minions have caused.
“It matters not!” scoffed Vastatio, “The only thing that matters is that the humans pay for betraying us, and having us sealed in those tombs for all these generations.”

Just then, a green pterodactyl, with a red beak and flames on its arms, feet and forehead, landed on a nearby street light, amidst the wreckage around Vastatio and Giganoto.
“Hey boss,” the pterodactyl squawked, “Just found another few buildings that we can go next. They’re empty now, but by the time we get there, they’ll be full of humans.”

“Tch, like that’ll keep us entertained for long enough,” Vastatio retorted, “We’ve already razed a significant portion of what the humans have labored to build, and they haven’t even attempted to strike back yet. This is beginning to bore me…” Suddenly, bullets of what appeared to come from M16 assault rifles soared into Vastatio’s back, penetrating its skin. In truth, they didn’t even tickle it, let alone harm it in any way, shape or form.
“Actually, I’ll take that back. Jurrac Ptera, wait here with Giganoto,” Vastatio ordered, “I’ll go on ahead and deal with these bothersome bones.”

After watching Vastatio leave, Giganoto then turned to Jurrac Ptera.
“So where are these humans you mentioned anyway?” Giganoto asked curiously, talking about the ones that would vacate the buildings that Jurrac Ptera spoke of earlier.
“I just saw two of them on one of their vehicles,” it answered, “As we speak, this vehicle’s making its way across the sea to drop the humans off.”

“Across the sea?!” Giganoto spat back, grabbing Jurrac Ptera by its wings and pulling it closer so their heads connected, “ACROSS THE SEA??!! Do you realize that out of the entirety of our grounded forces, only the boss can swim?!” Giganoto’s claws were piercing into Jurrac Ptera’s wings at this stage.
“Well…” Jurrac Ptera stuttered in response to Giganoto’s rage, “They could always catch a ride on the boss’s back when it’s ready to swim there…” This hardly soothed Giganoto’s anger, instead resulting in it pushing Jurrac Ptera into a nearby building.
“And what are they all supposed to do until they get there?!” Giganoto goaded in fury, “Pluck all those metal objects off of it?!”

Unaware of the wake of destruction ensuing in Domino City, Leroy and Crowler were fully concentrating on their duel, already having drawn their first 5 cards. Crowler didn’t like the look of his opening hand, but was still planning full emphasis on winning this duel as he drew the first card of the match.
Did Leroy have any chance against Crowler’s Deck? Would he be forced to abandon the Obelisk Blue jacket he rightfully earned? Find out on Chapter 5.

Damnit, that's the thing I would've been able to explain... so where do you think the implausible bits are?

Anyway, Chapter 5's just here, and I'll be taking a break before trying to come up with the next one. This one is pretty much just the duel between Leroy and Crowler, featuring the all-new Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife. And no, this is not abnormally quick either...
After the Duel Academy students enjoyed an immense gourmet banquet, they were shown to their cabins, where the majority would rest it off. Leroy, on the other hand, was looking back at Domino City, before bumping into Vellian Crowler on the way back. Little did either of them know that Jurrac Ptera saw the two. It flew across the sea to rendezvous with Earthbound Immortal Vastatio, whose minions were slowly, but surely razing Domino City to the ground. Jurrac Giganoto asked for details, and got furious when Jurrac Ptera told it that Vastatio’s forces were required to cross the sea to gain access to the Duel Academy. How would the duel between Leroy and Crowler pan out?

“You know the rules, challenger goes last,” informed Crowler as he began his turn, “I summon Ancient Gear Statue in Attack Position.” A robotic statuette arose from the ground. Pieces of metal stuck out from each side, and a head was present on top. As little threat as this thing posed at this stage, Leroy was not happy to see it.

(Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 2/ATK 500/DEF 800)

“Now I sacrifice it to Special Summon Ancient Gear Golem in Attack Position!” Gears creaked within the statuette… as it slowly revealed itself to be a robot in disguise. The chest piece was the first to be ejected, followed by the legs and then finally the arms. The robot was now cocking its head back and flexing its robotic ‘muscles’ as Crowler ended his turn, waiting for the chance to unleash its strength.

(Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 8/ATK 3000/DEF 3000)

“I’m not afraid of no outdated robots!” Leroy confidently shouted, “DRAW!!” He then cursed silently to himself as he drew a card that was of no use to him at that moment. “I set 1 monster in Defense Mode and end my turn.” The back of a card was shown horizontally a few feet ahead of Ancient Gear Golem, to show that it was a face-down Defense Position monster. Crowler cackled in glee at the sight of what Leroy had done.

“That doesn’t tell me you’re not afraid,” taunted Crowler, “In truth it tells me you’re very afraid… from the inside. I think I’ll add just a little more pressure by summoning Ancient Gear Soldier in Attack Position.” A second, smaller robot appeared next to Ancient Gear Golem, kneeling into position. Its right arm didn’t have a hand, but it was fitted with what seemed to resemble a Tommy Gun, a gear acting as an ammunition magazine.

(Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1300/DEF 1300)

“Time for a little hide and seek. Your face-down monster hides, Ancient Gear Golem seeks!” Gears creaked once more as Ancient Gear Golem clenched its fist and moved its arm backwards, then suddenly drove at full force in the opposing direction as it finally threw the punch. The facedown Featherizer revealed himself, in a kneeling position. A green and yellow robe covered his skinny blue body, with a multitude of white pieces of fabric protruding from the collar. A matching hat was placed on his head.

(Spellcaster-Type/WIND/Level 2/ATK 700/DEF 1100)

Ancient Gear Golem punched Featherizer, with so much force that shockwaves emitted from the ground and sped straight for Leroy. If Leroy were watching the field, he’d see Featherizer become flattened and disintegrate into thin air, yet he was too busy bracing himself for the incoming shockwaves, as if they would sweep him off his feet.

Leroy's LP: 8000 --> 6100

“At least I can activate his effect,” retorted Leroy, “When Featherizer is destroyed, I’d have to send one of my Gemini Monsters in my deck straight to the Graveyard, and I choose The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife. I then shuffle and draw 1 card.” After shuffling his deck, Leroy drew Gemini Counter, yet still shook his head in disapproval.
“You can draw all the cards you want,” Crowler goaded, “And you still won’t defeat me. Ancient Gear Soldier, press the attack!” Ancient Gear Soldier opened fire on Leroy, spraying bullets all over him. As they ricocheted off his body though, Leroy looked around, only to observe that these so-called bullets were only tiny gears.

Leroy's LP: 6100 --> 4800

Finally getting a break with these dead draws, Leroy sprung into action.
“I summon Gemini Summoner in Attack Mode!” A man in a blue robe stepped forth. His bare hands glowed a pale red, and he made vigorous hand signs that the naked eye would be completely unable to see, if it weren’t for the red glow trailing his every move.

(Spellcaster-Type/WATER/Level 4/ATK 1500/DEF 0)

“I then place one card face-down,” Leroy announced, “But before I end, Gemini Summoner attacks your Outdated Gear Soldier!” Before Crowler could respond, Gemini Summoner was already preparing a spell, making hand signals that caused a pillar of water to arise from Ancient Gear Soldier’s feet and short-circuit it.
“ANCIENT Gear!” Crowler snapped back.

Crowler's LP: 8000 --> 7800

“Whatever, it’s gone!” Leroy responded, “End turn!” Crowler grew red with envy, seriously not liking Leroy calling his Ancient Gear monsters outdated.
“I summon ANCIENT Gear Knight in Attack Position!” Another small robot appeared next to Ancient Gear Golem. Unlike Ancient Gear Soldier, this robot donned a lance in one arm and a shield in another, and stood up ready for combat.

(Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1800/DEF 500)

“Now that I have two monsters that are stronger than your Gemini Summoner, I can dispose of it.” Crowler stated, Leroy having the ‘Keep dreaming’ look on his face, “I’ll start by attacking it with Ancient Gear Golem.” Ancient Gear Golem threw another punch. Before the punch could connect, however, Gemini Summoner made some completely different hand signals, resulting in a red spherical barrier surrounding him. This saved him from harm, but he was still sent backwards from the punch, and accidentally shocked Leroy with his barrier.

Leroy's LP: 4800 --> 3300

“Ancient Gear Knight, finish it!” Ancient Gear Knight straightened its lance arm and sped straight for Gemini Summoner… and into Leroy’s trap.
“Blast with Chain, activate!” shouted Leroy, “Huh, you walked straight into that one Crowler! And here, I thought nine years of dueling would’ve meant you took more care. Gemini Summoner, use your new found strength to send that thing to the Graveyard!”

Gemini Summoner's ATK: 1500 --> 2000

Gemini Summoner wrapped the chain around Ancient Gear Knight’s lance. He then made a hand sign with his free hand, which sent lightning coursing through the chain and the robot’s body and made it explode. Crowler was only getting angrier, despite the fact that he lost so few Life Points out of the whole turn.

Crowler's LP: 7800 --> 7600

“And before you end your turn, which I’m presuming you do, I activate Gemini Summoner’s effect. By paying 500 Life Points, I can Normal Summon or Set 1 Gemini Monster in my hand or on the field, and I summon Goggle Golem in Attack Mode!” Leroy announced as he placed the monster alongside Gemini Summoner.
“And why on earth would you do that for?” Crowler asked mockingly, “I already have more than twice as many Life Points as you as it is, and there’s not a monster in your hand or Deck that can even match Ancient Gear Golem’s ATK.”

Leroy's LP: 3300 --> 2800

“But there is something in my Extra Deck, that can destroy that thing once and for all!” Leroy scolded as a humanoid rock monster appeared on his side of the field, wearing black leather rompers and studded, fingerless black gloves, “You’ll see what it is soon enough, in fact I’ll give you a free preview right now.”

(Rock-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1500/DEF 500)

“Even better, I’ll summon Gemini Scorpion in Attack Mode first!” Two warriors lashed onto the arena, a man with white hair and a red haired woman. Both of these warriors dual wielded swords, and both had scorpion tails protruding from their bodies, sticking downwards, except the man had a black tail protruded out the back of his head and the woman had a red tail protruded just above her buttocks.

(Warrior-Type/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1600/DEF 400)

“And, due to Gemini Scorpion’s effect, I can Special Summon a Level 4 or lower Gemini Monster, and I choose Tuned Magician!” An elven magician with green, yellow and white robe and a yellow hat appeared on the field, staff in hand.
“Tuned Magician? That could only mean one thing… you’re going to Synchro Summon. Pah, like that’ll ever happen. I can destroy that monster with Ancient Gear Golem before you can even…” Crowler goaded, before Leroy feigned a cough and mentioned Super Double Summon, “WHAT??!! But… why, how did you even pull that off?”

(Spellcaster-Type/WIND/Level 4/ATK 1800/DEF 1600)

“You really wanna know?” Leroy asked smugly, “I had this card in my hand the whole time, I just never needed it until now. Since I pretty much gave it away, I might as well activate it, and select Tuned Magician to be Gemini Summoned. I then tune my Goggle Golem with my Tuned Magician to Synchro Summon Black Brutdrago in Attack Mode!” A gargantuan black dragon stood in front of Ancient Gear Golem. Spikes appeared on its back, arms and legs, and thinly veiled wings spread out.

(Dragon-Type/FIRE/Level 8/ATK 3000/DEF 2600)

“Black Brutdrago, destroy that Outdated Gear Golem now!” Crowler was still dumbstruck as to how Leroy could pull his way out of the corner he was pushed to. He couldn’t even manage a second correction on the Ancient Gears’ names. Black Brutdrago spewed flames at Ancient Gear Golem before the giant robot exploded, taking the oversized monster with it as both monsters disintegrated into nothingness. Leroy gave a moment of silence to the fallen Black Brutdrago before commencing his turn.

“Since Black Brutdrago died from that attack, I can Special Summon 1 Gemini Monster from my Graveyard and give it its effect, and I choose The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife!” A gargantuan being stood in front of Crowler, a paper like material bound tightly around its glowing green body as if it were a mummy of some kind.

(Beast-Warrior-Type/LIGHT/Level 12/ATK 4400/DEF 3100)

“Shame I have to sacrifice 2 monsters for this guy’s effect, otherwise I could’ve wiped out your Life Points right there,” Leroy said in a tone of sympathy, as the monsters were absorbed into the being’s body, “Looks like I’ll have to make do with evening the scales. Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife, take down some of Crowler’s Life Points.” The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife straighten one of its arms, charging energy into it. A beam of the energy was fired seconds later, surging through Crowler’s body.

Crowler's LP: 7600 --> 3200

“Your move,” Now Crowler was the cornered one. Right now, all he could focus on was to stop that thing from getting at his Life Points, regardless of the cost.
“I…” Crowler stuttered, “…I set 1 monster in facedown Defense Position and end my turn.” Leroy had to keep the pressure on, while Crowler was weak. He couldn’t afford to lose the momentum he had. Luckily, he just drew the card that could seal the fate.

“I summon Dark Valkyria in Attack Mode!” A familiar looking female humanoid showed herself, with lavender skin and gray wings with red jewels lined across the top. The being also donned a blue and gray dress, with a blue and gray headdress, gray shoulder pads and gray gloves. These also had assorted colored jewels within them.
“It’s over, Crowler!” Leroy called out, “Surrender now while you have the chance.”

(Fairy-Type/DARK/Level 4/1800 ATK/1050 DEF)

“You haven’t even identified my facedown!” Crowler shouted. Seeing that Crowler hadn’t taken the hint, Leroy grabbed Unleash Your Power! from his hand.
“I don’t need to,” Leroy stated, “I activate Unleash Your Power!, giving Dark Valkyria her effect. Now I give her 1 Spell Counter, and remove it immediately so I can destroy that facedown monster!” The jewels glowed before a volley of beams were shot at the facedown monster, destroying it instantly. Crowler staggered in awe.

“Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife, wipe out the rest of Crowler’s Life Points!” The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife fired a second beam of pure energy at Crowler, the attack seeming to pierce through his entire body. Crowler fell to his hands and knees as his Life Points were extinguished. Leroy turned to leave, but not before dropping a few choice words.

I like to think that Chronos is a case of Obfuscating Stupidity who hopes to help the students by posing as a villain. It doesn't explain GX Episode III, but it does explain this, which was a nice recovery.

Deity is kind of completely broken, though. >_> With very few exceptions, no balanced card has more than 3000 ATK. Deity is like Obelisk the Tormentor, an illegal Egyptian God Monster, except a Gemini, and better. Not good.

Actually, I was meaning that you would need 2 Tributes so then it gains its effect, along with the two you need to actually summon it from the hand to the field. Unfortunately, that's the only way you can really word a Gemini Monster's effect OCG-wise.
No, I meant that in addition to Tributing 2 monsters for it to gain its effect, you would need to Tribute 3 monsters to Tribute Summon it. Like so :

You must Tribute 3 monsters to Tribute Summon this card. This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon and Tribute 2 monsters to have it be treated as an Effect Monster with this effect:
- If a monster you control or that you have Summoned would be affected by a card effect, you can negate that effect and destroy the card.

I also changed the wording for the Gemini Summon condition. Basically, in the case of Geminis, Spirits, etc. the specialized class of monster is more of a guide. For example, there is now one (and only one, I think) Spirit that has to be Special Summoned, while the rest can't be Special Summoned.

The plot seems to be "crowler hates a guy because he's the main character and also dinosaurs are attacking domino city and one of them is an earthbound god and its a dinosaur even though there's no dinosaur nazca line but whatever and also theyre funny".

*facepalm* Forgot about that. BTW, I fixed an OCG error for you.

Now about the plot. Crowler's "hatred-of-main-character syndrome" was just a coincidence. After all, Terrance did bypass school policy via enrolling Leroy in Obelisk Blue right off the bat. As for the dinosaurs attacking Domino City, I felt like had to throw in a diabolical and world-threatening event cause all 3 animes have this in common, and that was what I came up with. I'll work on that side of the plot later, but first I gotta throw in some more characters.

This dino business just seems so...pathetic. I mean, think back to when 5D's [s]made sense[/s] didn't cause your brain to explode. Remember back to Kiryu saying, for the first time, "Ideyo, Jibakushin Ccapac Apu!" and then that huge monster-thing, like a million feet tall, burst out of the ground, and there was that beating heart, and purple fire, and then its hand went right through Stardust, right? And then Yusei was going to die, but then he didn't? Good times.

Yeah, now imagine Infernity Archfiend saying to this awesome demon of awesome, "Hey, boss, generic comic relief minion words!" If you haven't gouged your eyes out yet, do so now.

In short, err on the side of evil. Flaming dinosaurs rampaging throughout the world because, to paraphrase abridged!Vegeta, "THEY'RE F***ING EVIL!!!!!!" and have no personality whatsoever are infinitely superior to little dino dudes hopping around Fearless Leader, thinking about climbing on their god's back to get to Duel Academy.

Yeah, I haven't even watched that part... the entire show decided to show up at a time that was WAY too early for me to get up by. I might download it at a later stage though, although I have no idea when.

I'll make it work. I just have to think this through a bit more than I thought I did, that's all.

OK, Chapter 6 is up, and as I said earlier, this'll try to tie up some loose ends. And by some, I mean about 1 or 2. But it does delve more deeply into the plot. Without further ado...
Crowler started the duel out strong, bringing out his coveted Ancient Gear Golem within the first turn and dealing massive damage to Leroy’s Life Points with it. But things turned around quickly when Leroy got The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife on the field, via destroying Ancient Gear Golem with Black Brutdrago after having previously sent The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife to the Graveyard by the effect of Featherizer. And although Leroy had to sacrifice 2 other monsters on his side of the field in order for this monster to gain its effect, nothing could stop it from ending the duel in Leroy’s victory. Would Crowler keep his end of the bargain, and allow Leroy to keep the Obelisk Blue jacket?

“Nine years of dueling experience,” called a familiar voice, yet one that belonged neither to Leroy nor Crowler, “and you still lose to a mere student.” Terrance walked into the scene, chuckling softly to himself. Crowler slowly stood back up to his true height, trying to conjure up some excuse. But then he remembered The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife’s effect. Acting on instinct, Crowler swiped this card from Leroy’s Duel Disk, before flashing it at only a mere few inches from Terrance’s face.

“Do you even know how powerful this card is?!” Crowler asked in a tone of rage, “It’s more powerful than an Egyptian God Card for Christ’s sake!” Terrance seized the card from Crowler’s grasp. Believing he already had enough of a glance when it was flashed at his face, he then held it straight back out for Leroy to recollect and pocket.
“It has its weakness, Crowler,” Terrance stated, “Just like every other Yu-gi-oh card. The whole idea of the game is to prepare for cards of this caliber.”

“Well I never want to see it again!” Crowler retorted, “In fact, why not add it to the school ban list? You should know, Leroy that this list contains all the cards that are forbidden to use in Duel Academy. Any student whose caught using them in a duel will be expelled immediately. From now on, this’ll include that Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife.”
With that, Crowler briskly walked out of the deck, leaving Terrance and Leroy to lounge around for a bit and perhaps exchange some small talk. Terrance sighed.

“That’s his solution to everything, just to throw cards into the ban list,” Terrance’s eyes then shifted to make contact with Leroy’s, “You might wanna keep that card outta sight.”
Leroy added The Deity of Pharaoh Afterlife back into his main deck.
“Aw, come on!” Leroy called in disbelief, “Surely it’s not worth banning just like that! I mean, you even said yourself that it has its weaknesses or something like that.”

“A lot of former students more adamant than you have been expelled by this ban list, Leroy,” Terrance lectured on, “And they were all good kids too. Aster Phoenix got himself expelled after reviving Destiny Hero – Disk Commander. Princess Rose was expelled for using Substitoad. Not to mention Miquea Moto and her Black Luster Soldier – Envoy of the Beginning. Even Aivea Kaiba had a run in for running Crush Card Virus and Last Turn in her deck. And it’s all because of that damned list.”

“So she’s expelled as well?” Leroy asked Terrance, in a tone that implied that he was assuming what he asked to be true.
“Actually, no she’s still here… thankfully,” contradicted Terrance, “She’s lucky to have a father like Seto Kaiba. He’s the CEO of KaibaCorp, and the founder of Duel Academy. And trust me on this one, but Seto’s not the type of guy you’d want to piss off.”

“Guess I should try to find something to replace it with then,” Leroy muttered. Searching back through his deck, Leroy reluctantly moved it into his pocket.
“Relax kid,” Terrance reassured Leroy, “there are plenty of cards you can buy at the shop. We won’t get there till tomorrow though, but…” Terrance checked his watch.
“Actually, make that this morning,” he restated, as the time on his watch showed that it was 12:39am, “You better get some rest. You might need it for the day ahead.”

Seto Kaiba, on the other hand, couldn’t afford to rest. He was busy preparing the escape mechanism for the entire building, in case the monsters from the news got too close to the building and/or threatened to attack. However, as he worked on this mechanism, he turned to view the outlook of the city, for any sign of approach from the monsters. Suddenly, a young man with spiky black hair arrived. Kaiba recognized this young man as his younger brother, Mokuba Kaiba.

“Hey, Seto,” Mokuba called from afar, “Just finished rounding up all the civilians… well, at least all the ones I could get to. They should be up to the higher floors by now.” Kaiba wasn’t entirely happy about this, but Mokuba felt that it had to be done.
“Alright, I need you to get ready to throw the switch,” he instructed, “It’s only a matter of time before these so-called ‘prehistoric horrors’ try to get to us.”

Back to where Earthbound Immortal Vastatio’s minions struck earlier, bodies continued to pile up as the minions prepared a banquet of their own. At this time, Jurrac Giganoto thought he’d address his concerns about Jurrac Ptera’s plan.
“About those buildings Jurrac Ptera mentioned earlier,” he told Vastatio, “I just found that we’ll have to cross the sea in order to get to them.”

“Then we’ll save it for a later time,” Vastatio responded, “For now, we continue bringing these buildings to the ground, and then we move on to locate some more on this land.” Vastatio turned to continue his work, but something caught its eye. A small group of people in the distance, one with a Duel Disk, was witnessing the very destruction of the city in which they presumably lived their lives. They were in view of only Vastatio’s eyes; none of the other dinosaur-esque beings were tall enough to see over the buildings that lay between them. Vastatio gave the order to pursue.

As soon as the other monsters confronted the group, the people split up in different directions, hollering at the top of their lungs as they did so. Two guys were slain as electricity from a Super Conductor Tyranno coursed through their bodies. Giganoto incinerated a third, whilst the female of the group was struggling to get a Babycerasaurus off her back, whilst it was slamming its beak into her neck. As she was flailing her body around, she bumped into a Gilasaurus, which slit her throat in response.

Only the duelist survived out the whole group, but even then, Vastatio wouldn’t allow him to live for long. Eventually, the duelist was backed into the end of an alleyway, with no possible action he could take that would allow him to evade the monsters. Vastatio itself was staring down at the duelist, almost as if he were nothing more but an insect.

“This is the last straw, human!” Vastatio’s voice boomed, “We’ve waited for millennia for our revenge on your kind, and now it’s within our grasp! I demand that we have a human’s card game… with a twist. Whilst you use your little machine, I’ll be using real monsters and real magic!” Suddenly, five large stone tablets shot out from the ground ahead of Vastatio, slamming back into the ground with tremendous force.

“Um… ok, I go first then…” the duelist stuttered, drawing a card to go along with his other five, “I activate Into the Void. Since I have 5 cards, I can draw another one…” The duelist explained this needlessly, as Vastatio was well aware of the card’s effect. His hands were still shaking as he reached for his deck, but as he examined the next card, he grew confidence, and in turn lost all forms of fear.

“Now I send Drill Synchron to the Graveyard to Special Summon Quickdraw Synchron in Attack Mode!” A blue metal cartridge appeared. Blue arms and brown legs extended immediately, allowing the cartridge to slap on a cowboy hat and tie a red cape around its neck. It then pulled out two pistols and started flinging them.

(Machine-Type/WIND/Level 5/ATK 700/DEF 1400)

“I then summon Armor Breaker in Attack Mode!” A small yellow being that donned a red robe and brown shoes jumped into position, alongside Quickdraw Synchron. In its right hand, it wielded a wooden mallet. The shaft of the mallet was only small, but the mallet’s head was larger than its wielder’s entire body.

(Warrior-Type/EARTH/Level 3/ATK 800/DEF 800)

“And because I Normal Summoned a monster this turn, I can Special Summon Turbo Booster in Attack Mode!” A second machine appeared between the two of them. It was yellow in color. On the top of its head were two red lights and a green one, and on each side of its arms were airplane shaped brown wings.

(Machine-Type/EARTH/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0)

“I tune my Turbo Booster with my Quickdraw Synchron to Synchro Summon Drill Warrior in Attack Mode!” Quickdraw Synchron and Turbo Booster were no more. In their place was a brown warrior with a drill for its right hand. Two drills were also extended from the warrior’s shoulders.

(Warrior-Type/EARTH/Level 6/ATK 2400/DEF 2000)

“Now I equip Drill Warrior with Armor Breaker.” Armor Breaker jumped onto Drill Warrior’s back, and held on with its legs and one arm, whilst still holding the mallet.
“I then discard the rest of my hand due to the effect of Into the Void and end my turn,” the duelist stated, giving the green light to Vastatio. A sixth stone tablet rose from the ground. It wasn’t until the tablet fully formed that Vastatio began its turn.

“I place two face-downs and end.” Vastatio pushed the two stone tablets at each end onto the ground, which made an impressive sounding thud. However, the duelist was hardly fazed as he made his hand entirely out of the next card he drew.
“Huh, you’re wide open!” he exclaimed, “Drill Warrior, direct attack!”

“I think not!” Vastatio bellowed, thrusting its arm sideways as Drill Warrior jumped up to approached. The immense force of the slash was enough to send both Drill Warrior and Armor Breaker flying into a nearby building at speed. The duelist was about to protest against Vastatio’s action, but then he saw one of the stone tablets self-destruct, sending fragments in his direction and thus causing him to flinch.

“I… place… one card facedown and end,” the duelist stated after collecting himself, fear surging back into his system. Vastatio could sense this fear and decided to act.
“I summon Black Veloci in Attack Position!” Blinding light emitted from another stone tablet, and it dissipated, the tablet vanished in its entirety. Replacing it, however, is a purple velociraptor, with pink feathers on its arms.

(Dinosaur/EARTH/Level 4/ATK 1800/DEF 300)

“Black Veloci, attack the foolish human’s Life Points directly!” Vastatio commanded, the monster rushing straight at the duelist. Black Veloci was biting, hacking and slashing the duelist as blood sprayed over the field. Mercifully, the attack ended, but the duelist suffered real, excruciating pain, and was coughing up blood.

Opponent's LP: 8000 --> 6200

“Now you know what dueling was like 5000 years ago…” Vastatio warned the duelist, “But if you value your life, then I suggest you quicken the pace. Your Life Points won’t save you from losing too much blood, after all.” Taking this small speech as Vastatio ending its turn, the duelist slowly got back up and prepared to draw his next card, ignoring the pain as much as he could.

Meanwhile, back at the KaibaCorp headquarters, Kaiba finally turned back to the computer, that was blaring for quite the while when he was performing the finishing touches of the escape mechanism. This time, the coordinates were stationary, and the detected duel was taking place within Domino City itself. An older man was at Kaiba’s side this time. His name was Jagger Princeton. As Jagger and Kaiba looked into the duel that was taking place in Domino, they found the human duelist to be losing blood.
“This isn’t possible!” Jagger shouted in bewilderment, “You said these holograms were designed NOT to harm duelists! Yet just look at the poor guy!”

“Yeah, I said that ‘cause we’ve tested them thousands, even millions of times!” Kaiba explained, “Something must be wrong, I’m sure of it.” As Kaiba pressed some buttons, the satellite above turned to its left, feeding what it saw straight into the computer. At this point, something caught both his and Jagger’s eyes.
“Are those… giant slabs of rock?” Jagger asked in astonishment, pointing to the stone tablets that were arranged in a line ahead of Vastatio.

“Huh, and here I was thinking it was all just a pile of implausible trash.” Kaiba muttered to himself, before turning to Jagger and attempting to explain what was going on, “Apparently, this whole idea of Yu-gi-oh was thought of around 5000 years ago by the ancient Egyptians. At that time, they used stone tablets instead of the cards we see today. It was also assumed that they used some kind of hocus pocus to simulate the summoning of monsters, the activation of spells and traps and the damage to players’ Life Points.”

“Wow… this doesn’t plausible at all,” Jagger commented, “So where did you hear of it?”
Kaiba paused for a few seconds, as if he were taking time to collect a memory.
“Some Egyptian woman told me while I was on an exhibition that she invited me to go to 15 years ago,” Kaiba answered, “At first I didn’t believe a single word of it, and rather dismissed the entire concept altogether, but now this might explain everything about what’s going on here, and I’m hoping it does.”
Did what Kaiba was told have any relevance to what was happening? Was Domino City fated to be completely annihilated by Vastatio’s attack? Find out on Chapter 7.
