"Yeah, I'm feeling just fine, thank you," Iris answered, stretching her arms and standing up. "I should probably get going. Especially if I'm inexplicably getting tired or sleeping," she said, her tone staying rather light and airy, despite the potential severity of the occurrence." She paused thoughtfully. "Well, you said you're going on? You may be biased, but are you any good?" she winced, realizing how stupid of a question that sounded like. "Different tastes, is all I meant. Like what kind of crowd do you play to?"

[Sunshine Jesse]

Zarkus quickly opened his eyes and took a deep breath, looking around the area he was in as if he wasn't sure he was even alive. He snapped his fingers and reformed the armor around his body and rubbed his forehead, thinking over what exactly just happened. He did suffer the equivalent of an eternity of torment after all. He looked through his deck, knowing exactly what happened since he lost the duel. "They're gone..." he said in a distressed tone. He stat down on the ground, knees against his head, and sighed. After sitting there for several minutes, he could only come up with one thing to say:

"...too bad that didn't kill me."

[Kyza Kiryu]

"Sonova...." He snarls, firing more rapidly at the progressing hoard. It was one thing to be playing zombie games at home, but real life survival horror was terrifying to him, despite his equipment.

"I dont want to leave Aki.... but i may have to... damn, damn, damn!" he curses, looking back over the hoarde. At the sight of the projectiles, he realises how outmatched he is, letting his blaster/rod return to his holster before gunning the engine furiously of his bike.

"Aki... he whispers, gritting his teeth before speeding away, trying to find someone, somewhere, heck even someTHING that would help

[Knight of Golden Shadows]

The same portal Blaze had escaped through suddenly reappeared, right above one of the tanks. [color="black"] "Hey. You need any help?" [/color] Blaze grins as he asks Akiza this question, acting totally unlike he did before. [color="black] "Hey kid, You wanna duel me again? Knew I should finished you off." [/color] [color="purple"] "U f001ish hUm@ns! U w1ll nevR st0p m#!" [/color] To prove his point, Rex slashed through the Recognizers, and, avoiding the shots from the tanks, he sliced through a group of 5 of them. [color="black"] "What is he try-" [/color] Rex had knocked Blaze out with a blow to the head. Rex jabbed his claw through Blaze's stomach, and Blaze slowly started to have blackened eyes like Rex, and his armor's circuits changed to purple from black. [color="purple"] "F00l! U sh@11 n#vEr d#f#@t me!" [/color] Blaze stood up and grinned. Rex and Blaze dashed inbetween the remaining tanks, unil they were standing infront of Akiza. Rex pulled out his sword and knocked Akiza's Identity Disk out of her hands. [color="purple"] " S0rRy, Bu17t W# c@Nn07 h@v# U r#s1st1ng us. Bl@23ze, th# por2tl 1f U woU1d?" [/color] Rex asked Blaze, grabbing hold of Akiza's wrist. Blaze created the portal, and he stepped through it, followed by Rex, who was dragging Akiza.

Rhythm smiled at Iris. [color=#00FFFF]"I like party music! And dueling!"[/color] She suddenly got an idea. [color=#00FFFF]"You know how to duel, right?"[/color]

Aki struggled in vain as she was dragged to the portal. She was very irritated that these imbeciles were not only destroying entire V-Sec squadrons, but they also got her, a GloMod! Did they understand what was about to happen?

Vector-A was thinking the same thing. The stupid monstrosities she had created were rampaging through The City without any regards to the consequences! How dare they defy her?!? [color=#800080][i]<You fools! Do you have any idea what you have done?!?>[/color][/i]

Admin Mina Trudge was watching the situation from the Administration Center, and decided she had no choice. Sure, there were civilians in there, but they could be backed up. She then noticed that Aki was in that sector, and shed some tears as she began the process which would lead to the virus' destruction. Vector-A had never wrought that much devastation, nor hurt that many people, because it would lead to this horrible act. [color=#0000CD]"All V-Sec units, fall back out of Sector 169. You know what I am about to do."[/color]

[Kyza Kiryu]

Kyza risks a look back, hoping to see Aki riding after him, the infected and corrupted defeated but her perfectly ok, uneffected and not even breaking a sweat... but seeing the V-forces around them made his blood run cold. He had played enough survival horrors and had a sinking feeling in his heart. He didnt understand the setting of the world completely, but this still made him feel sick to his stomach

He could see Aki, seeing her struggling. No! They had her!

Be it love, or anger, or fear, he draws his blaster, aiming it at Blaze and Rex, "Let her go!!" he cries out, firing several long volleys of shots, desperate to hit one. And he does...

Aki's arm where it's gripped by Rex. He was horrified, to have shot her arm off, watching her freed from his grip, but at such a cost....

"Oh...." he feels shocked by what he has done, but there was no time. Something screamed at him to drive, and like a thousand lost souls his light cycle lunges forwards, laying down black rubber as he screeches towards Aki, gritting his teeth as he leans in the seat, his fingers inches from the surface of the ground.

[i]C'mon.... c'mon.... there![/i] He grabs out, scooping Aki's lithe frame into his arm, wrenching right on his light cycle to use the momentum to pick her up, swinging her back across his lap, then thrashes the engine, his own screams overpowering the engine.

"COME ON!!!" He screams as the light cycle whines in protest before gunning away from the infected, speeding up to and catching up to the Vectors evacuating.

"Aki.... Aki i'm sorry, i'm sorry...." he curses himself, tears rolling down his cheeks but his inner rage holding him in control for now.

Dream Eater flinched slightly but otherwise her reaction was minimal. Her life points dropped once more as the effects subsided. The girl stared ahead still, her expression faltering only slightly but otherwise remaining blank.

“My turn,” she said, drawing a new card and placing it in her hand.

She stared down at the cards she held, her expression puzzled.

“Pot of Greed activate,” she said calmly, drawing two cards from her deck.

She stared down at her new cards, her expression becoming suddenly determined.

“Foresight, activate!” She declared.

The hologram of the card flipping round in front of her.

“Foresight’s effect;” Dream Eater began “I pay 1000 life points and declare 1 monster card name and then 1 monster card is randomly selected from my deck. If the names match then that monster is special summoned.”

Dream Eater’s deck glowed slightly and fragments of data began to fly around it.

“I choose card name: Dream-Eater,” Dream Eater said, her tone flat but somehow seeming more serious than before.

A card shot out from Dream Eater’s deck and she caught it, instantly placing the card on her field.

“Since I have only one monster in my deck, chances of that card being summoned by the effect of Foresight is 100%,” she said.

A larger hologram of the card flipped around and glowed brightly, a creature emerging from it that looked identical to the girl that had just played it. The monster Dream-Eater landed gracefully on the ground, staring ahead just as the version behind it would; only now the original seemed to glare at her opponent with something akin to anger.

“Dream-Eater’s effect activates,” Dream Eater said “Once per turn, I can reduce the level of Dream-Eater by 1 to Special Summon 1 Dream Token!”

The Dream Eater on the field raised one hand, palm facing upwards. Data flew around its palm and began to form together, becoming a violet coloured butterfly which flew to the Dream Eater’s side, floating by its head.

“Dream-Eater’s effect activates,” Dream Eater said “I destroy all tokens I control to raise the ATK of 1 monster I control by 500.”

The moment she said this the butterfly split, becoming many smaller creatures that flew around Dream-Eater, raising her ATK to 2900.

“Soulless Ghost, activate!” Dream Eater declared, playing the last card in her hand “When no monsters exist in my Graveyard or out of play zone, I inflict damage to my opponent equal to one monster I control!”

The Dream Eater on the field suddenly glowed bright pink and the butterflies around it split from their flapping around her and shot straight for MIA.

This card cannot be Special Summoned from your hand or Graveyard. Once per turn, you reduce the Level of this card by 1 to Special Summon 1 "Dream Token" (Fiend-Type/DARK/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Attack Position. These Tokens cannot be destroyed by battle as long as this card remains face-up on the field. A "Dream Token" cannot be used as a Tribute for a Tribute Summon. Once per turn, you can destroy all Tokens you control to increase the ATK of 1 face-up monster on the field by 500 for each Token destroyed.

Vector-A quickly got out of the Sector, leaving her newer converts behind. Besides, there was no hope for them.

Mina executed the command to create a firewall just as Kyza, carrying an unconscious Aki, got out of the sector. A large glowing barrier surrounded Sector 169, preventing the outbreak from spreading. Then, she told the computer, tearfully and regretfully. [color=#0000CD]"Quarantine and Purge Sector 169."[/color]
At the edges of the firewall, bit by bit, block by block, the sector started to fall into a black abyss below. The infected Users and AIs tried to run, but the Purge had surrounded them. Slowly, what stable ground was left gave way, and eventually, the entire sector dropped into the void.
Mina sobbed. A Sector Purge was an administrator's last resort against a viral outbreak. The entire Sector would be deleted, though a save from a previous version of the Sector, along with previous saves of anyone inside, would be uploaded, though that would take some time. Any Users plugged in, however, would stay plugged in until they could be restored. Eventually, Sector 169, and its occupants, would be brought back, but for now, everything and everyone in the Sector was, in essence, gone.

"I activate my Trap Card!" MIA shouted as one of her face-downs flipped face-up. She was still hit by Dream Eater's spell, lowering her life points to 100.''

"My Trap, Tempus Break!" She explained, heavily breathing from the effect of the Spell. "I can activate it when I take damage from an effect. Half of the total damage I took is restored!" Her life points went up to 1550, and she stopped breathing heavily. "And now I can destroy a card on he field for each Tempus monster I control! I choose my own Field Spell!"

Suddenly the field returned to normal, and both MIA and the little girl were both standing on the ground again.

"Trap card open!" MIA roared, and her final face-down was activated. "Time Collapse! When Time-Warped World is destroyed by a card effect I can Special Smmon my ultimate monster by paying 1500 life points!"

You could hear that MIA was becoming desperate, and as the field around them were slowly fading away a gigantic shadow appared and started to materialize. The ltimate mastr of time was appearing.

((NEGATE IT! I don't want it to be summoned yet, but this is what MIA would've done. Negate it and finish her, she only has 50 life points left.))

[Kyza Kiryu]

He rides to a steady stop, looking back in horror at what he had seen. Everything just vanishing, digitally disappearing in front of his very eyes, nothing left... His suspicions had been right, and he thanked himself for his lack of social life.

His attention, however, was back to Aki, looking to her arm and wincing, if only he had been a better shot, if only he had been more skilled she'd be alright...

"Aki...?" he hesitantly asks, supporting her in his arms, wiping his tears from her face as his helmet fades so he can see her clearer

Aki opened her eyes to see Kyza, and she smiled happily at Kyza. She hugged him tightly in gratitude. [color=#FF1493]"Thank you so much, Kyza."[/color] The V-Sec forces around them clapped and cheered at the daring rescue, and Aki was so relieved that she as safe...until she noticed that her hand, the hand attached to the wrist they had grabbed, had purple circuitry. She quickly got off of the Light Cycle and backed away from Kyza as the purple circuitry spread across her body. She curled up into a ball and started sobbing as the infection was completed. Several V-Sec members surrounded her, weapons drawn. She finally looked up at them, and Kyza, with two rings of gold floating in twin pools of black. [color=#FF1493]"Pl3ase..."[/color] She asked the officers around her, her voice slightly distorted. [color=#FF1493]"I...I c@n contr01 mah infec7ion...mostl`/...I ju5t need 2 B Qua4antin'D until i Cn B l<ured..."[/color] She was obviously shaken about all of this.

Dream Eater gazed down at the remaining face down card on her field, then back up at MIA’s field as her field spell vanished. She had no cards in her hand and even with the recent ATK boost her monster was no match for MIA’s Omni-drake. Lazily, she raised one arm, the face down card flipping up to reveal itself.

“Trap card open,” she commanded “Destruct Ring.”

A black ring appeared around the monster Dream-Eater’s finger, a bomb embedded in it with a lit fuse getting rapidly closer. The Dream-Eater on the field raised its hand, looking down at the ring with a bemused expression.

“I destroy one monster on my field and both players take 1000 points of damage,” Dream Eater explained.

The bomb exploded, sending debris flying at both players. Dream Eater stood silently as her life points took another hit, but she still had a few left to spare afterwards.

“If this fails,” she said solemnly “Then I lose.”

[Kyza Kiryu]

Kyza is horrified as he sees the change to Aki, and even more amazed to see those eyes of her, like Dark signer eyes, gazing back at him. He tries to step forwards to comfort her, but is forced back by one of the Sector securities

"She's infected... Virus got her good. Cant have an infected mod running about the place, even if you did save her."

Kyza can feel his heart sinking, listening to Aki as he reaches for her, his heart aching at seeing her suffering.

"She needs to be quarentined! Let me take her! She says she can hold back the infection! She's too important to me for her to just be left like this.... I'm begging you, someone, please!"

Iris blinked, noticing the look of a dawning idea upon Rhythm's face. It was just something one could tell by looking someone in the eyes, like a sparkle of light. She nodded. "Yeah, I know how to duel," she said, smiling a little. "Doesn't almost everyone these days? Why do you ask?" Normally, she would have assumed it was a challenge, but considering what Rhythm had previously said about going on in a short time, she didn't want to make too much of an assumption as to the program's intentions. The AI of this world was incredible, to the point that Iris never would have guessed the woman to be a MP3 program if she hadn't been told as such.

Rhythm thought for a bit. [color=#00FFFF]"Well, I have a few minutes to kill before I go on. Besides, they might like the show!"[/color]

Aki looked at Kyza sternly. [color=#FF1493]"Ky2a, I h@ve haD 5pecial tralning to r3sist mah N'fecti0n. It's pa4t of mah jo8. N ord'R 2 make 5ur i don'+ use mah GloMod abi1itiz again5t othrz, I unde4went a contro11'D inf3ct-shun. I wuz 7aught to wi7h5stand teh ur6es of @ v1ru5. N0t onl`/ R U not 74ained, 8ut 3revy1 heer is still suscept'BUL 2 m3."[/color] A special vehicle with a glass-like cylinder pulled up, which Aki was guided into. She pressed her hand against the glass, looking at Kyza with a longing that could either be viral hunger or deep regret and sorrow, as the vehicle drove away.

Kyza reaches out for Aki as she presses her hand to the glass, taking a few steps towards the vehicle, even going so far as to run after it for a while, scared...

[i]"Kyza, I have to go for a while to be treated with my psychic powers, don't be scared.... I'll always come back for you, my son...." as a familiar but older looking woman smiled down to him, holding back her tears, not knowing when they'd see each other again as Kyza, back then only 11, cried and tried to tug from his older sister's grip, wanting to be with her.

"Mom! MOM!!"[/i]

He slumps to his knees, obviously exhausted but angry, feeling like a failure, like he failed, had subjected the one he cared for most to such pain and she didn't even know who he was, what she meant to him, even if she wasnt his....

"....mom...." he whispers faintly, pulling himself to his feet, seeing the vehicle disappearing from sight, now utterly alone in the new world around him....

"Oh, okay then!" Iris said, becoming more enthusiastic. When she had come here, she hadn't expected to find a dueling opponent. Even so, it could be great fun. "Is it too crowded where we are now, or did you have a specific spot in mind for the game?" she wondered, already searching her pockets for her deck, finally locating it and shuffling it in her hands in preparation. Sure, her Disk had an automatic shuffler, but she had a habit of shuffling it manually despite that.

"Also, who would start?" she asked, placing the deck into her Disk slot.

Rhythm pulled out her Disc, and people stepped back to give the duo some room. [color=#00FFFF]"Since I challenged you, how about you choose?"[/color]

A man with dark hair, tan skin, and a scar on one side of his face walked up, all suited up in red armor, while an official-looking woman with golden eyes, though not like Aki's, nevy blue hair, and a suit that matched her hair in circuitry color walked up. [color=#FF0000]"So, you're the kid Aki was looking after."[/color] The man greeted. [color=#FF0000]"The name's Tetsu Trudge, head of V-Sec."[/color] The blue-haired woman bowed. [color=#0000CD]"And I am his wife, Mina. We have been friends of Yusei and Aki's for a while, though Tetsu used to be Yusei's enemy."[/color] Trudge started laughing. [color=#FF0000]"That's right! I chased that kid over and over again when I was stationed in Satellite, but every time, he would trump me! I got this scar trying to stop him from escaping Satellite, but we became friends shortly afterwards, and I have supported him ever since."[/color]

[Kyza Kiryu]

It took him a moment to realise he had been approached by two people, slowly turning to look at them as he rose to his feet, occasionally glancing towards where he had last seen the truck with Aki in it disappearing at.

"Kyza Kiryu..." he murmured his name, glancing between the two, "Sorry, I must seem like a real jerk. Here you both are talking to me, and...."

He trails off, looking awkwardly around, "I'm sorry I couldn't save her in time.... right now she's probably going through hell...." he removes his visor, wiping his metallic bronze eyes, why did he think so much about this stuff? Why couldnt he just shut off and move on....

Iris considered for a moment before answering, "I'll start then." As if on that command, the automatic shuffler kicked in and the Disk activated, her Lifepoint counter appearing and glowing white. She drew her starting hand, followed by a sixth card. She studied the cards for a moment, then smiled. Already a strategy was being formed, and she knew just what to do to get things rolling.

"I'll start my Setting one monster in defense," she said, placing a card horizontally on her disk. A card image appeared in front of her. With a casual motion, she slid a single card into one of the rear slots of the disk. "And I'll put one card down as well. That will do for my first move," she said, smiling.

Tetsu gave Kyza a reassuring pat on the back. [color=#FF0000]"Don't worry, kid! She's on her way to the Administration Center to have our best coding AIs take her apart, remove the infected code, and put her back together again, as good as new! In a cycle or so, she will be back on duty, virus-free!"[/color]

Or that is what should have happened, had the transport not have been attacked by Vector-A. She ripped through the vehicle, and the people protecting it, until only Aki was left in one piece.
[color=#800080]"H3110, 515734..."[/color] Vector-A purred as she advanced.
[color=#FF1493]"Wh-Wh@t do U wan7?!?"[/color] Aki asked the virus, trying to back away.
[color=#800080]"2 841N6 U h0Me..."[/color] Vector-A replied.

Rhythm was surprised. [color=#00FFFF]"You have a Duel Disk, as in something like the ones in the real world?!? Cool!"[/color] Rhythm threw out her Identity Disc, which stopped in front of her and hovered a couple of inches above the floor, spinning rapidly. [color=#00FFFF]"I Summon Sonic Maid in Attack Mode!"[/color] A woman with a black dress with orange circuitry and a Light Weapon looking like a musical note appeared. (1200 ATK) [color=#00FFFF]"Sonic Maid, attack her face-down!"[/color]

Kyza does get a bit shaken by Trudge's pats on his back, he was only slight of build after all, so the stronger man easily could move him around if he needed to, he gives a faint smile, looking between the two.

"That's good to know.... Aki means a lot to me. I mean..." he looks to them both, stammering, "I... I know she has Yusei, but i just mean she's really special to me. I'd love to see her when she's ok.... Um, I dont really have anywhere to go or stay or anything, I'm kindof a new User..." looking to Mina, her appearence seemed, to him, to be one of somebody who would know where things were, like those at tourist information, "Is there anywhere I can go to wait for her to get better? Or just any suggestions of what to do?"

He gives another glance to the last spot he saw that truck. Trudge said she'd be fine, be cured, be back....

So why did he feel so dreadful inside his heart?

Iris blinked at the question. "Yeah...is that unusual?" she wondered, looking at her disk arm, but shrugging. She didn't do anything to prevent the incoming attack, merely watched as her monster appeared: a small fish monster (DEF: 100), and was promptly cleaved in half.

"When Nimble Sunfish is destroyed in battle, I send one Fish monster from my deck to the Graveyard," Iris said, extracting a monster and showing it to Rhythm. "I'll send Fishborg Blaster to the Graveyard. Afterwards, I Special Summon another Nimble Sunfish in defense," she finished, a second copy of the monster appearing, taking on a more monochrome hue to indicate defense. (Lvl 2, 1000/100)

Rhythm simply replied. [color=#00FFFF]"I end my turn!"[/color] No facedowns, no additional moves, nothing. Just a 1200 ATK Normal Monster on her side of the field. Either she had some sort of insidious plan...or her Deck sucked. The Identity Disc returned to her hand. [color=#00FFFF]"It is a bit odd to see. I mean, it is an option for players to have, but most people just use their Identity Disc as their Duel Disk, throwing it out like the real world Duel Disk, or at least the ancient prototype."[/color]

Tetsu suddenly got a message, and his face filled with dread. [color=#FF0000]"Aki's transport was attacked! Come on!"[/color] He quickly got on a Light Cycle that looked like his old Duel Runner. Mina generated a strange four-wheeled Light vehicle that looked like a race car, and pulled up beside Kyza. [color=#0000CD]"You want a ride?"[/color]

He doesn't wait for a second, drawing his blaster from the holster he hurries into the car with Mina. He knew his bike was fast, but these guys were trained to hunt down and speed to scenarios, and despite his recent success with his own duel runner he was far too worried about Aki, and worrying lead to accident.

Kyza leans slightly out of the window, keeping an eye out as he whispers under his breath, hoping she's ok.

"Mina... that thing that infected her.... what if she gets out onto the grid? Uh... I mean, City..." almost dreading the answer, looking to the blue haired woman with an obvious concern in his voice
