Stan Alda
I must apologize for my late response; I was off at church. So as not to cause any disputes, I will allow both Shradow and deidara642 to join. Of course, that means that the contestant list is filled, and judging shall begin once Shradow gets his card in. Shradow
Okay, I just noticed that someone got the 10th spot before me, I was sad for a second. Here's my card.
Stan Alda
Judging will take some time: I will update when I'm finished. Till then, feel free to move on to...whatever else you need to do. Here's Shinato's judgement. Once I get one done, I'll move onto the next and post when I'm finished. Final judging will be carried out at the very end. Your patience will be greatly appreciated.[spoiler=Shinato Demise of Oblivion's Card Lore]Twin FerretsLIGHT/Beast/EffectThis card can attack twice in the same Battle Phase. Twice per turn if a face-up Beast-type monster would be destroyed by battle, it is not destroyed. (Damage calculation is not applied).200/200 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Quite good. Pic looks like something Konami might use. Mispelled "Limited Edition", but that's the only error. 9.7/10OCG: Only noticed slight typographical error; there should be a comma after "Twice per turn". Otherwise flawless. 9.7/10Balance/Strategy: Good enough. First effect is fine. Second has one potential problem: if your opponent only has one monster and you have "Master of Oz" and this guy. But that isn't exactly OP'd; if anything, that's strategy on your part. 9/10Versatility: Would go in any decent Beast deck. Nice to see that it works with semi-underused type. 10/10Overall: It's somewhat hard to keep on the field, but that's the point. 9.6/10 Next up, darkmaster0:[spoiler=darkmaster0's Card Lore]Evillian EntityDARK/Fiend/EffectYou can increase the level of this card by 1 for each monster on the Field. If this card is destroyed by battle or a card effect, deal damage to your opponent equal to the level of this monster X300.0/0 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Again, quite good. No complaints. 10/10OCG: Yet again, no real complaints. 10/10Balance/Strategy: The biggest flaw in an otherwise excellent card. It's fairly OP'd: with 9 other monsters on the field (5 on your opponent's side, 4 on your side, and this card), you'll get a level of 10; X300, that makes...3000 Direct Damage. Ouch. It's balanced by its total lack of attack, and you need near-perfect timing, but it's still iffy. 6.7/10Versatility: Very splashable. Me likey. 10/10Overall: Can inflict serious hurt when played right, but won't last long otherwise; of course, that's Mookiness in a nutshell. 9.1/10 Next, Shadow of Alpha:[spoiler=S. of A.'s Card Lore]Shaman of the EarthEARTH/Spellcaster/EffectAs long as this monster is face-up on the field, your opponent cannot select other face-up EARTH monsters you control as an attack target. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower EARTH monster from your Graveyard OR add 1 level 4 or lower EARTH monster from your deck to your hand.2400/1850 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Yet again, great. Kinda wondering why I keep this category...too lazy to recalculate previous scores, I guess. 10/10OCG: Flawless. 10/10Balance/Strategy: Pretty brawny for a redshirt. It's balanced, but it's a bit too large-scale for this contest. Just being nitpicky, I suppose... 9/10Versatility: Works well with EARTH decks, but only EARTH: otherwise, it's about as useful as "Swordstalker". 7.5/10Overall: Too big to be a true mook and not too versatile, but it's superbly made. 9.1/10 Next, Thermatic:[spoiler=Thermatic's Card Lore]Oxygen WarriorWIND/Warrior/EffectWhen this card is Normal Summoned, destroy up to 3 cards on your side of the field, this card gains 300 ATK for each card destroyed in this way.1600/1000 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Pic is great, but font is weird. Did you use the actual YCM application, or did you GIMP the text on? Just curious, I suppose... 8.7/10OCG: The first effect ("When this card is Normal Summoned...") and second effect ("this card gains 300 ATK...") should be separate sentences. Otherwise, not bad. 9/10Balance/Strategy: Like "Shaman of the Earth", a bit too powerful to be a true mook. I guess this is mostly my fault; I should have given a maximum ATK/DEF or something. Otherwise balanced. 8.8/10Versatility: Fits well in any deck. 10/10Overall: Again, a bit too powerful for a true mook, and has a few technical errors, but good overall. 9.1/10 Next, Genex Firefox:[spoiler=G. F.'s Card Lore]Castella, Hellsworn SorceressDARK/Spellcaster/EffectOnce per turn, you can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower DARK monster from your Deck, Graveyard, or Hand by removing from play 3 cards in your hand. Each time a monster is Special Summoned in this way, place 1 "Revival Counter" on this card. Once per turn, you can move 1 "Revival Counter" from this card to a DARK monster on the field to have the card with the "Revival Counter" gain X400 ATK per counter on the monster. [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Pic is Konami-quality. 10/10OCG: Last clause ("have the card with the 'Revival Counter'...") doesn't seem right. Try this: ...move 1 "Revival Counter" from this card to a DARK monster on the field. Increase the ATK of 1 DARK monster with 1 or more "Revival Counter"s by 400 for each counter on the monster. Granted, my OCG may be even worse... 7/10Balance/Strategy: Seems balanced enough. ATK, DEF, etc. weak enough to be a higher-echelon redshirt. 10/10Versatility: Like "Shaman of the Earth", only works with a specific attribute. Otherwise, it's near-useless. 7/10Overall: More redshirty than the previous two cards, but too situational and OCG is iffy. 8.5/10 Next, Dingo_is_cool.[spoiler=Dingo_is_cool's Card Lore]Baby ThunderballWATER/Thunder/EffectIf this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard, deal 1000 points of damage to your opponent's lifepoints.400/400 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Another excellent pic. Nice to see a Thunder-type monster; those poor guys are dreadfully underused. 10/10OCG: Graveyard is capitalized, and "Life Points" is capitalized and two separate words. Phrasing is perfect. 9.3/10Balance/Strategy: At first I thought it was OP'd, but after further examination, it's well balanced. A net damage of 600 LP to your opponent is very reasonable. 10/10Versatility: Very splashable, works in any deck. 10/10Overall: A splendid example of a mook/redshirt. 9.8/10 Next, ash_202457.[spoiler=ash_202457's Card Lore]Decoy MagicianDARK/Spellcaster/EffectWhen this card is selected as an attack target by your opponent's monster, select 1 Level 7 or higher Spellcaster-type monster from your Graveyard, Special Summon it and switch the attack target to that monster.500/300 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Unimpressive. Pic is somewhat blurry and seems generic; doesn't look like something Konami would put out. 6/10OCG: Satisfactory, can't see any major errors. 10/10Balance/Strategy: My biggest problem with this card. Basically, it lets you summon a Level 7 or higher (i.e., uber-powerful) monster from your graveyard without any costs and switches the attack target to that monster. That's all well and good, but the main problem is both "Decoy Magician" and the Special Summoned monster stay there. So, essentially, I can summon a "Sorcerer of Dark Magic", "Silent Magician LV8", or what-have-you and keep going until my side of the field is filled with bruisers (minus the Decoy Magician, of course). You can guess what happens next. The obvious solution is any card effect, which balances it out slightly. But with anti-effect support, this thing is unstoppable...5/10Versatility: Only really works with LV7-or-higher Spellcaster decks, which is...a fair portion of them, actually. Otherwise worthless. 6.5/10Overall: Bland pic and too situational; but when the situation is right, it's quite OP'd. Not much of a mook. 6.9/10 Next, seattleite.[spoiler=seattleite's Card Lore]Danea, Servant of LilithDARK/Fairy/EffectWhile you have no cards in your Hand and this is the only card you control, your opponent must skip their Draw Phase.0/0 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Grrrlll...sexiest card yet. Given more of an anime look, this would be indistinguishable from an actual Konami pic. 9.7/10OCG: Impeccable. 10/10Balance/Strategy: This is a great way to initiate a lockdown in a pinch. Once you get any more cards, it's essentially useless, but 1 free turn on your part can turn a duel around--definitive redshirt qualities. I'd add a bit of ATK/DEF, about 500 or so, to make it truly useful on its own. 9.5/10Versatility: Works just about anywhere, although its aforementioned effect is very situational. 9.5/10Overall: A great last-ditch card that needs a touch more beef to make it truly great. 9.7/10 Next, deidara642.[spoiler=deidara642's Card Lore]Servant ToadWATER/Aqua/EffectThis card can be used as the whole tribute if you are summoning an Aqua monster. If this card is sent to the graveyard in any way exept as a tribute, send this card from the graveyard to your side of the field.1200/1000 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Pic seems like it was taken as a screenshot of some TV show, rather than drawn [fanart, paintings, CGI, etc.]. As a general rule, drawn images are better than screenshots. 7/10OCG: Not very good. Not sure how the first effect would be correctly phrased, but here's my best guess at more correct OCG: You may tribute this card to Special Summon 1 Aqua-type monster from your hand. If this card is destroyed by battle or a card effect, Special Summon this card from the Graveyard to your side of the field. 5/10Balance/Strategy: Fairly well-balanced as far as I can tell. Aqua-type monsters lack any great bruisers (as far as I know), so the first effect isn't too abusable. Second effect isn't that great; it seems a bit too powerful and unnecessary. Unlike most cards in this contest, it can take care of itself to an extent, so it doesn't need to keep coming back. Fortunately, the fact that it can't bring itself back after it tributes itself balances it out. 8/10Versatility: Works well in any Aqua deck, and second effect might make it more useful in other decks (recurring attacker), so it's pretty versatile. 8/10Overall: Fairly versatile and well-balanced, but rather sloppy construction tarnishes it. 7/10[ Finally, Shradow.[spoiler=Shradow's Card Lore]Cave Dwelling ImpFIRE/FiendDiscard a FIRE monster from your hand to destroy 1 Spell or Trap card your opponent controls. If this is the only monster you control, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. (Damage calculation is applied normally.)800/400 [spoiler=Judgement]Aesthetics: Pic is the same quality as seattleite's--except, of course, not as sexy. 9.7/10OCG: Impeccable. 10/10Balance/Strategy: Great mook effect--not meant to be a duel-winner, but can help in a sticky situation. Well-balanced as well. 9.8/10Versatility: Quite versatile; first effect is exclusive to FIRE decks, second is much more useful in any other deck. 10/10Overall: Well balanced, makes good sense in any FIRE deck, blah blah blah...well constructed is the point I'm trying to get across. 9.9/

Daigusto Sphreez
Well I'd hardly say it was OP, it can receive a maximum of 2500 ATK by destroying 3 cards on your field in the process, thats actually horribly UP, but fair enough. Congrats to the top 3 ^^
Stan Alda
Perhaps I should have clarified the definition of a mook/redshirt. Basically, a mook/redshirt is a monster that is not meant to stand up on its own in a battle. 1800, by my estimation, is quite a bit too strong. I apologize for the lack of definition, and intend on making a new/improved contest sometime in the near future. This is my first contest, so I appreciate your cooperation.
