Kōsuke Ueki
It had happened merely a few months ago. I originally thought it had happened to me first, but really, it started by a woman's husband turning into one of those things, killing her almost instantly, or so we thought. That woman had become the second of the flesh-eating beasts in only about two minutes of being a corpse, for the tainted blood of the man's husband was slowly flowing through her veins, arteries, and capillaries until it reached her brain. In only a few hours were there merely hundreds of these things, and it spread to the rest of California, Oregon, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Maine, where I first experienced this. In Maine, I was the first to experience this, but I survived thanks to the gun my father had left behind after going on vacation to China with my mom, my uncle to take care of me. The beast that nearly cornered me was my Uncle, and I wish it had never happened. With gun in hand and extra ammo in my pockets, I fought through as many as I could for how much ammo I had. I had many friends that still were in Maine, so as of now, maybe they could have been good use to help me. And they were. One by one I had found them, cornered by those freaks that use to be their family members. In turn, they had found their own weapons to kill these freaks that resided in their very houses. But it wasn't enough. We needed more in order to fight back this menace. And we became the Zombies Resistance. For the last few months, we had been surrounded by those freaks while we were in our hideout, an abandoned warehouse where we reserve the weapons we took from a gun store, whose owner had also became one of those freaks during one night when it was closed, and in turn gave us a way to fight back every time they invaded our hideout. Each time, they came in the hundreds, and more kept coming every time. It was then realized this will never end until we kill every freak in our way in order to find the true one who had begun this, and have him put an end to this. As of now, I only had 3 RVs with me back at my house, and it was better than nothing. In turn, we used the RVs to go from state to state where these freaks reside and look for survivors to find clues as to who started this. We also needed to find our other friends before it was too late. It may be a long journey, but it's the only way this supposed war could end, as the US army are trying to fight back this threat in other states. This is our only hope. The only way to bring peace back to the Earth. It's time to fight back...

You're probably wondering as to how this all happened, even though I gave a brief summary of it already, I'll tell you about myself. My name is Ronald Black. I am a 16-year-old full-blooded Latino male, living in Westbrook, Maine. I grew up in Schenectady, NY until I had begun my life in middle school. Technically, this is where my story began, mainly as to all of the friends I had made. If it wasn't for them being a part of me, I would've been all alone in the battle, or better yet, it might not have happened. Oh well, let's just show you how bad my life was when I first began my life in Westbrook Middle School: As the bus came up to the entrance of Westbrook Middle School, Ronald looked at what he believed to be a hellhole for the time. As the bus stopped, he got out of his seat and someone intentionally tripped him, laughing with pleasure of being the bully. The boy was a 6'4" 16-year-old male with spiky orange hair and light skin. He had a small twitch in his left eye which was sometimes noticeable most of the time, since it signified that he was crazy at times when people would least expect it. And this guy was one of the reasons why I hated my new life in Maine. His name was Bryant Flash, the bully of the school. He repeated 8th Grade twice, and never improved. His style was blackmail. This was how he got away with everything. He forced everyone he messed with NOT to tell anyone that he did it, or face a serious consequence. It was said that one boy actually tried to stand up to him by telling on him about everything that happened to him. Bryant was suspended for a week in the process. After the week was over, let's just say that the kid will be permanently mentally scarred for the remainder of his known, possibly miserable, life. But I'm not scared of him. He messed with me, he will get what he deserved. He tried to put me in a hospital, but the police got to him each time. But back when he first messed with me, I just let him mess with me. I didn't do a thing. All I did was say that no matter what he did to me, it wouldn't change what he had done. He didn't care. Ronald got up with anger in his eyes as he walked off the bus and looked at his new school. He felt depressed as he never wanted this to happen, but since his parents went to that vacation in China, he had no choice. It was either live in a foster home until his parents returned, or this. He didn't want to live with strangers, but he sure as hell didn't want to live with his uncle either, even though he liked it when he used to come over to his house back when he lived in New York. He then proceeded to walk through the door, but paused. At first, I couldn't do it. I didn't want to go inside, because I didn't know of what's to come inside that building. But if I didn't, then I would've been running away from a new life, and I'd be stopped by the cops, and brought back every time, or worse. I'd run from the law JUST to get back to Schenectady, but I knew I couldn't run back home, and I was too young to drive back then. But something made me go through, and it wasn't a good thing. Bryant came from behind and pushed Ronald through the door, laughing in amusement when he fell. "That never gets old!" said Bryant, still laughing. Getting up from the floor, Ronald began to clench his fists, until he decided it wasn't worth it. He looked around the inside of the building. Nothing much. A gym entrance in front of him, a cafeteria to his right, the main office to the left, nothing special. What was unique about it, however, was that it had a statue in the center of the cafeteria that acted also as a fountain. The statue was of the Maine Black Bears, a common team name in Maine for many different sports, including Baseball, for men, Basketball, for woman, and Ice Hockey, for men and woman. There are other sports that bare the Black Bears team name, but only certain sports could be played by certain genders. Well, it wasn't as bad as I thought. It mostly looked like the only separate Houses from Schenectady High, once called the Steinmetz Career Center, now named the Steinmetz Career and Leadership Academy from the news I heard about. I felt okay with it, and I thought maybe I was too harsh in my thoughts to have believed this school would have so much atmosphere. But when all of the students saw me walking by, they just stared at me. They looked at me and I wondered why I was getting all the attention. They then all, except one, threw food at me. Apples, bananas, muffins, donuts, you name it. And they were all yelling things like, "Go back to New York!" "We don't want you here!" "You're not one of us!" "Go burn in hell!" It was horrible. It was the worst thing I had to go through ever in my life in school. It was then a girl came up and told everyone to stop. That was when I knew that someone was okay with someone outside of Maine joining a school here. It was then I didn't feel alone in this school, since over the next 2 years I made a great amount of friends. "Hey, leave him alone!" said the girl. Then everybody stopped throwing food and began to chat quietly. "Jen, what are you doing?!" yelled Bryant at the girl named Jen. "Why are you helping the outsider?" "Because everyone is doing the same thing that happened to me last year! He didn't do anything to deserve this, Bryant. So get lost!" Jen then helped Ronald up. Bryant then walked up to Ronald and got in his face, his twitching eye showing that he is not playing around. "You're lucky she was here t help you. Next time, though, you won't be!" Ronald then gave a glare back at Bryant. "Try me, b****." said Ronald in an intimidating voice. Bryant then became infuriated and attempted to punch Ronald. But Jen stopped him by grabbing his fist. "Relax. Just do what you were going to do before." Bryant then pulled back his fist and said, "Whatever." He looked at Ronald again. "I'll be sure to give you the worst school year in your life. Just you wait. Bryant then walked away. Jen turned to Ronald and asked, "Are you okay?" Ronald sighed. "Yeah." he replied. "I knew I wouldn't be welcome here. I just didn't want to see it happen. But thanks for what you did. The name's Ronald; Ronald Black. But call me Ron" He took out his hand in terms of a handshake. Jen shook his head and replied, "Jennifer; Jennifer Ramona. But you can call me Jen." Ronald then made a smile knowing that he had made his first friend today, the first out of many in which will make up the Resistance. "Do you need to help cleaning up?" asked Jen. "No thanks, I got it." replied Ronald. "But can you tell me where the Nurse's office is?" "Oh, it's at the end of the cafeteria, then take a left, and then right when you see the sign." "Thanks a lot. Later." Ronald then walked away, taking off scraps of food he can get off. Jen is then seen chuckling with a smile on her face. She knows that they both will be great friends. It was only the first day of Middle School for me in Westbrook, Maine, and I already made a friend who went through the same problem as me the year before. Jen was the only friends I could relate to about that first day of Middle School, and I began to become very fond of her at first. However, I found out a few days later that she was going out with that a****** Bryant Flash. I kinda felt sorry for her and hoped that the two would break up, which they did sometime after the New Year, but I'll get to that in a bit. The next thing I went through was during my birthday, October 27. When the students found out about it, they took advantage of it, and made it the worst birthday I had in years, well, at least for the most part. It was then that I made two more friends, who were siblings, and can understand my problems when it came to my birthday. Basically what happened is this: I had been constantly pranked throughout the day, and was annoyed profusely by the words, "Happy Birthday". Why? I don't know. I just know that I hate hearing those words together, INCLUDING hearing the song. That annoying song that causes me to go to tears if they don't stop. I had to go through that since 5th Grade. But when that tragedy of those 'things' happened, it was no longer the issue. Anyhow, on that same day, two new students came to the school, and they were siblings; brother and sister to be exact. They understood what I had gone through because they had friends who were mentally disturbed that way, too. Wait, mentally disturbed? I think they meant it in another way. Oh well. In return of them helping me, I gave them a tour around the school during lunch, along with helping with their schedules. Oh yeah, their names were Ben and Amy Cross, two more friends I have made and have helped me out with fighting those 'things'. There is one more friend I'd like to talk about before I cut this video short. However, she was different. She was my best friend before I moved to Maine, and she had come back to me. I was so glad. It was before the New Year, and I felt as though the new friends I have made here was not enough. I needed an old friend from New York to help me out with what I was going through. Fortunately, during my Christmas vacation, my wish was finally granted after almost 4 months worth of torture which was dimmed down thanks to the brand new friends that I had made over time, even though it was only 3. In Times Square, NY, Ronald is seen with his head down, not feeling happy about the New Year. He was with his uncle Sam during that time and was waiting for the countdown. They were only minutes away from the countdown, and Ronald thought he would have no familiar friends after the New Year. But then, he heard a familiar voice. "Well, look who's back?" It was female, around 14 years old, who's voice Ronald would always remember. He turned around and was shocked. He made a relieved smile as the girl formed tears in her eyes. He then gave Ronald a hug and said, "I missed you." "Sarah..." said Ronald to the girl named Sarah. The two then exchanged small talk. Sarah Carrol, my best friend from elementary school, is back. I was so happy to see her again, you couldn't even imagine the kind of feelings I was going through. It was a miracle. I had found someone left in this world who would come to aid me in this quest of survival. Well, at first, it was the survival of middle school, then, well, you know. I'm just glad she will be there by my side when she can. I wouldn't wish for anything better. My life couldn't be better, no matter what happened. "So, I'll be going to your school by the end of the vacation." said Sarah. "What? Really? Why so?" asked Ronald. "Hell if I know. I'm just glad I'll get to see you more often." The two smiled at each other with a little bit of chuckling. The countdown now began. It started at 20. "20! 19! 18! 17! 16! 15! 14! 13! 12! 11! 10! 9! 8! 7! 6!" Ronald then began to count down as well; so did Sarah. "5! 4! 3! 2! 1!" It was then that time had stopped, and Ronald was the only one able to move, unknown of what is happening. He looked around and noticed everything was frozen in time. "Hello!?" he called out, but didn't receive an answer that was familiar. "Not yet." said a strange, yet intimidating voice. "Huh? Who was that?" "You will know of me when the time is right. Until then, this is to show you what will happen when that moment finally comes. Farewell." "W-wait!" But he was too late, and time reverted back to normal, Ronald reverting to his normal position, cheering, for the New Year has begun. He still thought about what had happened. I was so confused as to who or what that voice came from and what he meant. But when the tragedy stuck, I knew it had something to do with him/it. I forgot about it for the time being and just went on with my life, but with a returning friend. I never knew something like this would happen. It was as though Fate itself has offered him one request and it would be done. It was probably a coincidence, or rather, something much bigger that had to do with the tragedy in the future. But oh well. It wasn't important. What was important was that I had an old friend reunited to me. But I wonder where my other friends I haven't found yet in this tragedy are exactly? Are they dead? Are they now those 'things'? Or are they surviving by hiding? I don't know, but what I do know is that I need all of the help I can get. This is where I bid farewell for now. I'll explain more when I get the chance. So, until then, later. TAPE CONTENT ENDED. Piercer of the Heavens
The prologue sure caught my interest. Hope that the first ch. comes soon because I want to read it.
Kōsuke Ueki
THIS FIC HAS BEEN REVIVED!!! I had been too busy with other stuff, so I decided to try and continue this story. A special chapter will appear soon.
Vector Nightmare
Hmm. Well. The prologue is exactly like my average Zombie plot. I'm curious how that will change. I didn't like how the guy, who is apparently young in age, is apparently a zombie-slaying machine, and all his friends seem to be as well. What you said in the prologue was basically: "Hey I'm this uber cool guy who, once everyone started turning into zombies, snatched his dad's rifle and began mowing them to shreds, then went and met my other uber cool friends who are equally awesome at zombie slaying as I am, and we formed a team with equivalent power to the US army and are going around pulverizing the Z." Someone needs to make a Plants vs Zombies fic =(
Kōsuke Ueki
Since I'll be doing flashback chapters for a certain amount of time, there will be a difference with the Prologue and the actual story when present time is mentioned. The character himself is a teenager who is determined to take down the source of what caused the problem. The friends he has will be very hesitant about joining him because they don't feel like they have the urge to kill. But in this story, it's taking the "Survival of the Fittest" method to a whole new level, in which all of the main characters are coincidentally more adaptive in their abilities of survival than many others would actually think and would survive better when fighting off even an entire army worth of zombies. The plot development will be slow, as will the character development be, so people can try and experience what it's like to combine a Mystery story with a Horror and Suspense story. Any suggestions on what the first chapter should include will be most appreciated. However, I will not use all of them, as there might be too many other ideas I had in mind to make room for them. Kōsuke Ueki
Chapter 1 posted! It's somewhat short, I'll admit, but don't worry. I'll fix that soon enough. And if you had guessed, each chapter acted as a video tape explained in text. That's why you saw what you saw at the end of the chapter. Enjoy! Catterjune
Your first chapter is 100 percent filler. No one cares about "a day in the life" because the rest of his life is completely changed after the zombie apocalypse, which is the central conflict of the story. That's not to say it's bad to show how dull someone's life was before there magical adventure began, just don't let it take up so much damn time, and at least show us a glimpse of where this is all going. Kōsuke Ueki
Where's the filler, huh?! Do you see any filler?! This chapter is to explain how the members of the resistance came to be, and how they were first introduced to the main character. perhaps you don't see it. Besides, by Chapter 3, there will be SOMETHING that will explain when the big invasion happens. So just sit tight. It'll happen. Trust me.
Dwarven King
I have two problems right now. 1: Your characters...being a little young...instantly turned into badass zombie killers right from the get go. The guy's uncle was the first to turn in his state. Without hesitating, he shot his uncle and shot the other zombies going after his friends...who in turn instantly picked up guns and shot more zombies. ...what? O.o 2: I'm assuming the group of friends are around...10 people? Give or take a few? Even so...they hold off hundreds of zombies everyday? Yeah...we already have movies out where one person...sometimes accompanied by a few other people...takes on hundreds of zombies, and sometimes mutants, nearly ever day. It's called Resident Evil. :< Sorry for being so harsh.
Kōsuke Ueki
When I wrote the Prologue. I was rushing it. What I said wasn't exactly what I wanted it to be. So the story will be different from the prologue. And besides, the first chapter takes place a few years back, so basically, they are a bit older then you might think.
