Lord Ursus
So I got the urge to make an Excess monster or two, and this thread introduces the Loricatus Ultimatum cards. Loricatus Ultimatum stands for "Armored Ultimatum" and they like to give their Excessed monsters a little swing once in a while. In extension, equip their Overlaid cards and gain bonuses for it. The chances of being 2-for-1'ed that you normally get from playing Equip Spells are reduced, thanks to the Excess monsters method of self-defense. The images are either from Jazin Kay's archive, Father Wolf's archive or my own creations. OK, the set: Loricatus Ultimatum - Centurion ****** EARTH Beast-Warrior / Excess / Effect ATK 2500 / DEF 2500 [i]When this card is Excess Summoned, you can Overlay 1 monster in your Graveyard to it. This card gains 300 ATK for each Overlayed card on it. Once per turn, you can treat 1 of this card's Overlaid monsters as an Equip Spell Card and equip that card to this card. (Max. 1) This card gains the effect(s) of that card. Lexadin
I like the images on this set. But I think they're a bit too powerfull I'm not shure how the Excess monsters will eventually will work out. But in this way they'll be more broken then the early Synchro's. Also I understanded that Tokens couldn't be used for Excess Summons. Anyways, I gues it's ok Excess Support. A 7/
Lord Ursus
I do believe Tokens are legal to use. Doesn't stand anything against it in the rules. Anywho, thanks for the comment.
Kale
this set is well put together, but i think the concept for the Excess is a bit off. I don't think that any Excess Monster will be a /subtype only monster. i think it will be a /subtype/effect, because it will compliment the other three alternate colored monsters: Synchro/Effect, Ritual/Effect, Fusion/Effect. I also don't think that you will be able to "Exceed from the Graveyard" with any of the future monsters... It's like being able to normally use a random non-tuner in a synchro summon, or fuse together a monster from your deck, or 'prep' a removed from play monster for a ritual.. it doesn't "click" with the game mechanic, is what i'm getting at. That being said, i would like to see the boss monsta's effect look like this: "This card gains 300 ATK for each Overlayed card on it. When this card is Excess Summoned, you can treat 1 Level 4 or lower "Loricatus" monster in your Graveyard as an Equip Spell Card and equip it to this card. Once per turn, you can treat 1 of this card's Overlaid monsters as an Equip Spell Card and equip that card to this card until the End Phase. This card gains the effect(s) of a monster equipped to this card by this effect. When an Equipped monster is removed from the field, inflict 800 damage to your opponent." I can't think of any way that you would be able to remove an Overlaid monster from the field without removing the Excess Monster from the field.. so i tweaked the last part to suit the main purpose of this card. I dodged your 1 Max idea and made this card more versatile. You can now have 2 monsters equipped to this card, one from its summon from your Graveyard, one that was overlaid. This means that you can "swing," as you put it, an overlaid monster into your Spell/Trap Zone each turn, and this monster will never be without its archetype equipped to it. This way i think you will have a better functioning card. That way you can switch monster effects, gain dual effects, whatever. The Spell Card is genius! i love it too. great for Excess Summons. Though i think being able to attack directly with your Excess is a bit... excessive? XD overall, great set. i love the concept! 16/20 -Kale. Lord Ursus
Thank you. As far as I understood it, Overlaid monsters are removed for self-defense, meaning its defense becomes a counter-offense of sorts. I guess I could remove the limiter for monsters being able to be Overlaid on this card. It's meant to push some more strategy into the idea, as you have to balance abilities for offense and defense. I do know it can't be Excess Summoned from the Graveyard, though. Glad you liked the spell. And this set's not done yet, so you may expect more good stuff.
